Is there a group for us mamas to be? If not, join one and all, let's get this started...

ditto with the vaccine @Sunshine8888! poor timing, I've cancelled mine for now. Would you be happy to tell your friends? If so, nothing stopping you! I had some friends over last week and the benefit of it being at my house was that we were all in the garden, I poured myself some of what everyone else was having and as I was floating in and out the house to get bits and bobs I just poured it down the sink and every so often would hold the glass up to my lips. Haha. Felt like an evil genius.

stripytiger09 · 04/06/2021 21:50

Someone needs to come and take the tests away 😆 after my last baby in Feb I bought a whole stack of one step tests from Amazon but now they're calling to me. I've been doing at least two a day since Saturday!! I'm pregnant, there's no doubting that! Just so tempting to have that excitement of seeing the second line come up is too much

Lollipop25 · 04/06/2021 22:45

Congrats @Sunshine8888, great to see you've added another bfp for the May/June TTC bus😊 I had my two 21 months apart so had 2 under 2 also, it'll be a busy time alright but it's great, they've always had someone to play with and they're super close (don't get me wrong, they fight like cats at times too 😂).

I had a bbq with loads of family down last week and I'm known gif my love of cocktails, felt quite 007😆 had the cocktails just left the alcohol out, they never suspected a thing.

It seriously can't be normal to have baby brain this early, is it? 🙈 brought the kids for a walk and got lost🤣( obv the kids didn't know we were lost) took us an hour and a half to find our way back😆🤦‍♀️

Foxy1303 · 05/06/2021 08:22

@minthumbugs and @Sunshine8888 I have my first vaccine tomorrow, everything I've read says it's safe to have in pregnancy but is there something I need to know about? Is it risky in first trimester? I'm 5+5

I also wish I hadn't found out so early! But my cycle is only 24 days so by 4 weeks I was already 3 days late! I had spotting on day 25, so perfect timing for my period (I even marked on the Flo app that my period had arrived) but that went away in the same day and I had no more bleeding. Day 28, about 4 BFPs 😂 couldn't quite believe it!

Believe it or not we only baby danced once this last cycle (various reasons) so it definitely only takes one time!! I really can't believe it still xx

minthumbugs · 05/06/2021 08:25

@Foxy1303 there's some info that says you might decide to postpone until you are outwith the first trimester but I think at the end of the day it's down to you to decide if it's best for yourself! I can find you the leaflet if you like? Wow that was a lucky month 🤩

Foxy1303 · 05/06/2021 08:25

Also, can I ask when people are telling bosses? I feel I want to tell mine early (we have a great relationship) but am wondering how early. I'm 5+5 now, and have my first midwife appointment on 16th when I'll be 7+2. So thinking maybe at 8 weeks?

Foxy1303 · 05/06/2021 08:27

@minthumbugs yes please if you have it to hand! Thank you 😊

Here you go @Foxy1303 and anyone else who might find it helpful 😊

stripytiger09 · 05/06/2021 08:44

@Foxy1303 I told mine first time around at 8 weeks after my first midwife appointment, and then the last time at 6 weeks as I had HG so it was pretty obvious I was pregnant! This time I'm going to try and wait a little bit longer if I can so I can make sure this baby is all okay.
It depends on your relationship with your boss I guess and if your job requires a risk assessment

Foxy1303 · 05/06/2021 09:00

Thanks @stripytiger09 luckily I'm working from home at the minute so any early symptoms are just between me and the dog!
Think I'll see how I feel in a couple of weeks.

nursej28 · 05/06/2021 09:18

@Foxy1303 I’m a nurse so I think I’ll need to tell them ASAP as there’s certain risk assessments they need to do, and to make sure I don’t get given a patient with something dangerous. It’s a shame as I haven’t even told my parents yet. 🤦‍♀️

Bundaberg84 · 05/06/2021 15:47

@Sunshine8888 congrats!!❤️ I saw your post on the other forum too ;)
Can I ask you about the bleeding you had with your first pregnancy? I'm experiencing this right now and it makes me so nervous. I was at a friend's yesterday evening and even though I seem to only bleed when going to the toilet, it was quite red yesterday. Ehen I came home, nothing. Today I am just lying on the sofa as much as possible, and so far I only had a tiny bit spotting...

Sunshine8888 · 06/06/2021 08:49

@Foxy1303 wow that’s so great it happened after just the once ☺️ I’ve been talking to lots of people about whether to get the vaccine and I’m now leaning towards getting it still. Is yours today? Please could you let me know how it goes and if you feel ok after it?

@Bundaberg84 thank you! I would get small amounts of brownish blood. The scans revealed there was no bleed around the baby so likely coming from my cervix - probably as I’d had biopsies / scarring in the past. My bleeding started around 5 weeks and I was scanned at 5+5 with heartbeat detected which was a huge relief. I then had scans at 8 weeks and 10 weeks as well

Sunshine8888 · 06/06/2021 08:53

Also thanks for the reassurance about having 2 under 2 @Lollipop25! Haha about getting lost on your walk. I don’t recall having any symptoms this early last time but this time I definitely feel exhausted, hungover and so bloated!

Foxy1303 · 06/06/2021 09:59

Hi @sunshine8888 yeah I have mine this afternoon, decided to go ahead with it. Will let you know how I feel later tonight, and again in the morning. I'm having a lazy day apart from that, got a headache and sore back this morning, think I overdid it yesterday! Plenty of water for me ☺️

Sunshine8888 · 06/06/2021 17:53

Thank you @Foxy1303 I’m still unsure what to do!

Adelyra · 06/06/2021 18:12

Hi!
So far I have told my mum, sister and brother as well as a few close friends. I refuse to keep silent and suffer in silence. I also don't want to shout it on rooftops.

I may tell my boss this week as I work in a GP surgery (non medical staff but public facing).

I have also book an early scan (8 weeks) and a 12 week scan (I am not in the UK this summer it's a bit complicated).

I am rubbish at dates and can't for the life of me decide if I will be far enough along to do a Harmony Test on 10th July. 🙈

Symptoms- cramps and fatigue but nothing blatant. I did wake in absolute agony 2 nights ago but not bleeding so 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻.

littlelionroars · 06/06/2021 19:48

Hi Everyone,

Just thought I would share my experience regarding the vaccination.

I basically was supposed to be vaccinated a few days before I found out I was pregnant.

I had asked my GP their opinion and they sent my some info which basically stated that it was safe to have it while TTC or in any stage of pregnancy. So I made my appointment and went to the vaccination centre.

Before they give you the vaccine they ask a few questions and one is if you are pregnant, I said that we were TTC but it was too early to test, so I might be. Once I said that they would not vaccinate me.

The nursery basically said that as I was between ovulation and my period, I might be pregnant and that would not do it without a prescription from a GP.

I showed her what my GP had sent me and she said they'd had to turn away many woman because GP's are giving out the wrong info.

She said to take a pregnancy test when I was due, and if it was negative come back the following week. But if it was positive to come back in the second trimester.

It was incredibly frustrating. So my advice to the rest of you is just to wait until you're past 12 weeks, so that you won't be turned away.

It really seems to depend on the staff at the vaccination centre and their opinion rather than a guideline the NHS have set.

I'm in the same position. I work with chemicals and anesthetic gases so told my boss as soon as I found out, as I just don't want to risk anything (even though they say, it's probably safe and in small amounts.. I don't care! One of them even says on the bottle not to handle when pregnant). I'm waiting to tell family once I've had a scan I think (thinking of going for an early scan at 8 weeks)

Don't think I've joined this thread yet!
Hello everyone.. I'm due 4th Feb :) currently 5 weeks, 3 days. This is our first

Adelyra · 06/06/2021 20:24

Does anyone else have an older first child? My son is 5.5 years old. So we're thinking we'll tell him after the 8 week scan. He's very clued on and very much a mum-oriented child so I don't envisage being able to keep things under wrap very long.

Does anyone have experience of this? If you're a nth timer too, when do you think you will tell your child/ren?

Sunshine8888 · 06/06/2021 20:57

Thanks @littlelionroars, I have cancelled my vaccine but will be looking to rebook in the second trimester

Lollipop25 · 06/06/2021 21:18

Hi @Adelyra 🤗 I have a 10 yr old daughter and an eight year old son. I absolutely won't be telling them until 16 weeks or after, prob won't tell anyone else either, I know it sounds extreme but I've had 2 mcs and 1 was 12 weeks so I definitely wouldn't want to put them through that if god forbid it happens again. I'm overweight so hiding a bump won't be an issue😂 plus they will drive me crazy asking me when the baby will come😂 they've been asking for a little brother or sister for years

Adelyra · 06/06/2021 21:33

Oh dear. I didn't think about him asking me WHEN all the time. 😂

I don't have a history of MCs but I understand how it would change your thinking. I'm overweight but I don't think I could sneak for very long.

He has been asking us relentlessly for 2 years too. He is now so desperate for a sibling that he has updated his wishlist from baby brother to "brother or sister". Grin

PoodleOodle · 06/06/2021 22:13

6w 5d here and the nausea has increased dramatically. I can't look at anything in the fridge as it turns my stomach. I've had a few days of nausea after 4.30pm for a couple of hours but today its been constant. I feel rubbish. I've been waking up in the night for the loo once or twice too. Nipples are still sore but less than they were.

Hiya, had my vaccine today and the staff couldn't have been anymore supportive. They shared stats from The Royal College of Nurses and Midwives (or something!), asked if I'd done my own research, and gave personal advice. The insisted that it must be my own choice and were so kind and reassuring. Who knows if it was the right choice, but at the moment I'm pleased I went ahead (6weeks pregnant)

No side affects yet other than a slightly tender injection site. Will keep you posted in the morning.
