Is there a group for us mamas to be? If not, join one and all, let's get this started...

@Trinacham @bubblegumunicorn @NorthernMammy @Foxy1303
Thanks! I've called them again today, receptionist was really apologetic but admitted she couldn't get hold of them. Said she will keep chasing. I don't know whether to contact PALS at the hospital if I still get no joy.

WinsAndNeedles · 23/06/2021 12:19

And the morning sickness has landed. I was only cleaning my teeth. This is going to be fun!

Toottootdrivers · 23/06/2021 15:05

Hi everyone! Please can I join? I got my BFP in Saturday and a 3+ on clearblue digital today, so I'm feeling confident enough to post now!
I'm 35 and, if all goes well, this will be baby #2. My DS is 20 months so slightly terrified of having a toddler and newborn!

Lollipop25 · 23/06/2021 18:58

Hi all 🤗 hope everyone's doing ok. Had a private scan yesterday. Thankfully there's a heartbeat 💓 I was 8+4 by LMP but the sonographer says I was 7+5 by measurements and gave me an EDD of 3rd feb. She said with longer periods the baby usually measures a week less. So 🤞things progress as they should.

Congrats @Toottootdrivers 🎉🎉

Trinacham · 23/06/2021 19:05

Had a private scan today. It has been a traumatic few days as on Sunday I experienced quite a bit of bleeding (more than spotting and I had to put on a sanitary pad, as a liner wasn't enough) and cramping. I convinced myself it was over.
Much to my surprise - we saw our little blob with a heartbeat! By my period I thought I was 7w 6d but the sonographer said we were measuring 8w 1d.
Hope this gives hope to anyone panicking and worrying if they experience similar, as the last few days have been awful for me, and I know how worrying it can be!

Lollipop25 · 24/06/2021 09:09

That's great @Trinacham 👏👏🙂

mummyh2016 · 24/06/2021 11:15

I've finally heard back from a midwife! Apparently they text me an appointment on 11th June, it didn't come through though Confused anyway I have my booking appointment on Monday at 9 weeks.

BristolEm · 24/06/2021 13:19

Hi all, lovely to hear about all the positive scans!

@WinsAndNeedles I've mainly felt horrifically hungover but things that have helped so far are iced water with mint leaves or slice of lemon in, chewing gum when I think I'm really going to be sick, snacking on trail mix and not allowing my belly to ever be empty. Tried the travel bands but not convinced they made much of a difference.

Had my first midwife appointment today (am 10w 3d) and mostly went ok. The veins in my arms weren't playing ball today so they ended up taking blood from my hand which I hate but at least it means I get the full MOT. My aim when weeing in a tiny pot also requires a bit of practice 🤣

My doctor then rung with my thyroid results and it's totally out of whack which is what's causing my double bout of exhaustion. Anyone else in this group have any issues with their thyroid? I was treated for Graves Disease a while ago so I'm now underactive and need to have a blood test every month while pregnant.

NorthernMammy · 24/06/2021 15:53

Fab news @mummyh2016 glad you're sorted. Great news @Trinacham and @Lollipop25. I haven't had a private scan so waiting for my 12 week for it all to start feeling real! @bristolem I totally agree on the weeing! That sounds rough but good to have an explanation I guess? I was dreading my bloods today but it was actually totally fine, I was knackered afterwards because I'd properly psyched myself up!

WinsAndNeedles · 24/06/2021 20:15

@Trinacham that's amazing news. I bet you are so relieved!

Thanks @BristolEm I'm finding that staying hydrated is the most important thing. Tired seems to make the sickness worse, so trying to get as much rest in the afternoon as possible. I was scoffing Ritz crackers on the school run this morning, which really helped too. Chewing gum made me worse, which was surprising.

bubblegumunicorn · 25/06/2021 10:37

How's everyone feeling? I still don't think it's sunk in for me yet especially as hubby is having a hard time accepting that we are having another baby! Also not sure if it's because I've been there but I don't feel as excited this time around everything was so new last time but now I'm chasing my toddler around the house and I don't have much time to stop and think about little one! I also wanted to scream at a customer at work who was being abusive towards me as I feel that level of stress is not good for the baby I didn't really work last time and I was so chilled and as such I had a chilled out baby I'm worried I'm pumping this one full of adrenaline and it's going to be more high strung 😂 (definitely over thinking but I have a psychology background so can't help it) 😂

WinsAndNeedles · 25/06/2021 14:01

So I finally told my GP today (I've been procrastinating because it just doesn't feel real, even with the sickness). It felt really anticlimactic, E-consult with the GP who emailed back and told me to do a self referral to the midwife and he'd sent a folic acid script to the pharmacy. So I did the self referral and that was a very impersonal online form too.

I know I'm being a bit childish but I kind of loved being coddled and fussed over in my previous pregnancies, I mean how often do us moms get any fuss?! Do we actually get to see anyone face to face at the mo?

WinsAndNeedles · 25/06/2021 14:03

@bubblegumunicorn there's no doubt about it, it's very different second time around. If it helps at all, I had a very high stress pregnancy with my 1st and he was the most laid back baby ever.

Toottootdrivers · 25/06/2021 18:10

@BristolEm I have an underactive thyroid as well and feel like I could sleep for a week. Last time they whacked up my Levothyroxine and I was under consultant review, but ultimately it didn't make a difference to the birth. I was allowed to go through the low risk unit and have a water birth (it didn't actually work out like that, but that had nothing to do with my thyroid!)

Adelyra · 25/06/2021 20:34

Evening ladies,

We went for a scan this morning. All good with a strong heartbeat, dating 8 +6, EDD 29.01.

How are you all doing?

Erinrose82 · 25/06/2021 22:22

Hi 8w 2 days and I've had soMe spotting today and a stressful week ! I'm so worried.
Midwife was not particularly helpful she just said it could be ending or not and I'll have to wait ! No mention of scam or assurance. I feel sick with worry. X

Adelyra · 25/06/2021 22:53

Did you call the EPU?

Erinrose82 · 25/06/2021 23:30

Midwife said don’t bother unless after a couple of days it’s worse/ I thought about it but it’s not worse. I’m not sure what to do or how long to wait ?

Try not to worry (easier said than done I know) I am 8w 4d now and have had spotting on and off since around 6 weeks. One day it progressed to cramping and red blood (I had to wear a sanitary pad, so was more than spotting), this was very scary and I assumed the worst. Went for an early scan and all was fine, saw the heartbeat and was actually measuring ahead of what I should have been, based on LMP. Been a week now and not had any bleeding or cramping since, but the spotting continues (only when wiping). During this scare I've had a lot of people reassuring me that they had bleeding in their pregnancies and went on to have healthy babies.

Thanks @Toottootdrivers, that's really good to know. I'm usually on 125 thyroxine a day but they've put it up to 175 for now. Really looking forward to getting some energy back!

WinsAndNeedles · 26/06/2021 13:02

@Erinrose82 fx if could be nothing. I had spotting with DC2 at 8w. I think it was exactly when my period would have been due. Only lasted for a day or two and I was fine from there on out. Try to take it easy and see how it goes. Here for hand holding if you need it

Sunshine8888 · 26/06/2021 17:21

Hope everyone’s doing ok. I’ve just been so tired but not too bad otherwise. Had an early scan today which showed a little blob and heartbeat 💓 which was lovely. Measuring a little behind at 7+3 rather than 8 weeks but this happened with my first pregnancy and she caught up along the way (and then arrived a month early anyway) 😂

apples2022 · 27/06/2021 00:23

Hi Smile,

I'm 8+6 and due on 31st Jan by an early scan last week.

I'm 39 and will be 40 by the time this one arrives all going well. This will be my 4th baby.

I have my booking in a week on Tuesday and have booked a Neobona test at a private clinic later that same day. We also get a scan on the same day, I think I'll be 10+1 by then!

That makes me feel loads better my DH finally is feeling excited (I guess a week to get on board isn't too bad in the end) I was so worried he was going to spiral and not be supportive with this pregnancy but morning sickness hit this morning and he's been amazing as he was last time 💕 also is anyone else getting really bad bloating? I'm also looking 5 months pregnant at the moment not 5 weeks 🤔 hoping this isn't a sign I will be huge in a few months time 😂

apples2022 · 27/06/2021 16:57

My bloating has been terrible! I had to order some maternity stuff yesterday which I really didn't want to as it's so early, none of my clothes fit at all, which I can get away with when working from home, but when I need to be out it at the office I was finding it a bit if a nightmare. I'd bought trouser the next size up as well but even that was too tight and I just refuse to go two sizes up lol.
