Is there a group for us mamas to be? If not, join one and all, let's get this started...

Yey for date twins @sunshine8888 the early scan was easy as it's all arranged by the ivf clinic. Midwife self referral here is a form on a website so I filled it in at work one day. It says not to do it before 6 weeks but I did it at 5 and got my letter the day before 6 weeks. I'm just wishing away the first trimester. I don't enjoy pregnancy, or really the newborn bit though they are very cute. I'm quite looking forward to having completed our family. You never know, maybe this time I will glow rather than vom.

Nice to hear from all the new ladies!

@Bundaberg84 I'm so sorry for your loss. Thank you for updating and sharing with us. It sounds like you have taken it like a real trooper. Wish you luck going forward x

@minthumbugs you know I love you ❤️💔🥺

Sunshine8888 · 12/06/2021 09:55

So the sun is shining and bbqs galore here, I’ve ordered some non alcoholic pink fizz and ciders so will let you know if any are remotely tolerable!

WinsAndNeedles · 12/06/2021 17:28

Amazon just delivered my digi. Looks like my EDD is 22/2/22 😂

@Foxy1303 I haven't told him yet. He's got a big job interview next week and he needs his head in the game. This is going to throw a massive spanner in the works so I will wait until the time is right, possibly Father's Day. (Unless the morning sickness hits and I can't hide it!)

stripytiger09 · 13/06/2021 09:49

Finally got my booking in date! 8th July ☺️

Very sorry @Bundaberg84 I hope your hospital is supportive and lovely. Make sure to look after yourself and don't hurry back into normal life. Give yourself time to heal ❤️

Adelyra · 13/06/2021 20:41

Evening ladies,

I have had a very achey week end and the nausea has been unreal this week. On Friday evening I couldn't stand to be in the kitchen. 🤢

How are you doing?

NorthernMammy · 13/06/2021 22:05

So sorry to hear @minthumbugs, thinking of you. X

NorthernMammy · 13/06/2021 22:06

Welcome to the new ladies! @stripytiger09 nonalcoholic kopparberg is nice cause the real one doesn't normally taste of alcohol anyway so it just feels the same! Nice to feel included on a sunny day.

NorthernMammy · 13/06/2021 22:07

Oh sorry just realised that was @Sunshine8888! Although useful to us all hopefully 😉

Sunshine8888 · 14/06/2021 12:47

Thanks @NorthernMammy! I tried 0% thatchers but it wasn’t great! True about the fruity ciders, just find them so sweet!

Now got my booking app sorted for 2 July but it’s on the phone and then have to go have bloods done separately - what a faff!

WinsAndNeedles · 14/06/2021 13:29

Anyone else just not feel pregnant at all? I don't think it's sunk in, I haven't told DH yet, I have no symptoms and tbh I feel great (sorry, I know, I'd hate me too!) When is it going to hit me?

Adelyra · 14/06/2021 14:35

@WinsAndNeedles It might feel more real once you tell people you love.

For me the nausea kicked in at exactly 6 weeks on the dot.

BristolEm · 14/06/2021 14:37

I'm due mid January ( I think) and 9 weeks today with first pregnancy so it's all a bit nerve wracking and exciting.

I'm quite petite and have had issues with bloating before so I already have a visible bump which is making socialising a bit awkward! I keep winding up the husband by referring to the quintuplets which he doesn't appreciate or find funny at all 😁

WinsAndNeedles · 14/06/2021 14:42

@Adelyra I hope so. I'm hoping to hold out until Sunday. Hopefully, talking here will keep me going. It's lovely reading everybody's updates.

Adelyra · 14/06/2021 14:49

@BristolEm he's not having to grow or carry the Quints. Kill joy! Blame lockdown podge!

Telling others does not make a woman more likely to miscarry. We don't have to keep silent to save other people's blushes. I think the silence around the first 12 weeks probably makes experiencing a MC more isolating and lonely than it already is. I have a theory that this practice is a byproduct of patriarchy, i.e. miscarriages are "women's troubles" and should not be discussed.

@WinsAndNeedles when's your husband's interview?

WinsAndNeedles · 14/06/2021 15:46

@Adelyra it's on Thursday, so I could tell him as early as then but thought it would be nice to wait until Father's Day on Sunday. We're caving, rock climbing and abseiling on Saturday too, so I'd rather do that in peace first too. 😂

WinsAndNeedles · 14/06/2021 15:50

@BristolEm I found it really hard to hide my second. I was exclusively wearing smock tops for weeks in an attempt to hide the podge! I wasn't ready to tell anyone until after my scan, not because I thought I shouldn't, I just wanted to feel secure before I did. So I told family at 13w and friends at 16. It was kinda nice having our own little secret for a while too.

BristolEm · 14/06/2021 17:20

I've told the people I would turn to if anything goes wrong as I'm also rubbish at keeping my own secrets. It's more work meet ups and things that I'm not quite ready to show the bump to yet.

I'm very grateful that I'm able to work from home throughout all of this though as also makes feeling tired and nauseous during work meetings a little more manageable!

Trinacham · 14/06/2021 17:59

How far along are you? I'm 6w 4d and don't really have any symptoms!
Sunshine8888 · 14/06/2021 18:35

How did your scan go @emalady?

Finding this heat difficult 😣 normally love the sun but not so much in first trimester with a toddler who is overheated and can’t sleep 😴 😩

WinsAndNeedles · 14/06/2021 19:42

@Trinacham I'm not entirely sure. I got a 2-3 on the digi on sat so I think about 5w. My cycles have been all over the place this years. Sickness kicked in at about 6w with dc2. Really hoping I don't get it again.

KatrinCas · 14/06/2021 20:03

Hi all! I'm keen to join as well! Due 17/02/22. Only just found out. It is my first time and none of my friends have kids yet, so I really don't know what the next steps are. :D This is really exciting and somewhat scary at the same time.

CycloGoose · 14/06/2021 20:28

@WinsAndNeedles I don't feel pregnant at all at the moment although I suppose I do when I drive home as I'm really bloated in the evening and I'm getting a bit of motion sickness when I drive.

I hope you have an amazing Saturday! It sounds like so much fun!

@Adelyra I do know what you mean about not keeping it secret until week 12. I think I'm happy to tell certain people but some people I just wouldn't specifically tell if I could avoid it! Some people are super nosy and can also be a bit judgy - I'm a teacher and haven't been at school a full year yet. I have, however, told my boss already as I will want time off if I miscarry to be honest. I'd not tell MIL if I could get away with it because I find her totally overbearing at the best of times. She's the loveliest woman but I'm fiercely independent and she's incredibly coddling so...

Nice to read everyone's updates 💖

Going for early scan a week today. Really hoping there's something in there 🤞🤞🤞

Adelyra · 14/06/2021 21:42

@CycloGoose I absolutely get you. We're NC with MIL so I really do not want her to know (she uses any info as a weapon, deranged NPD person that she is), so I wouldn't shout it on roof tops either. And since it is a healthcare related piece of information in some respects, we should absolutely stay in control of how the info is disseminated. I am just really keen for people not to censor themselves. Tell your friends, tell your siblings, tell people you love and trust, hell tell the bus driver if you feel comfortable.
