Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Amani · 07/11/2007 13:41

Am at home now watching Desperate Housewives and comtemplating an afternoon nap, now that I've scoffed McDonalds

Feels so good to put feet up as the doctor ordered.

By the way, just re-read my previous post and it should be bump - not bum!

I wonder if Kerioke has had her baby?

mixedmama · 07/11/2007 13:49

I was wondering about Kerioke... hoep she is ok.

Was wondering where you were as well Skid after yesterday.

amani i am asking for the Desperate Housewives boxset for Xmas as I did last year as I just can not stay up to watch them.

Wizzska · 07/11/2007 13:53

at all you ladies who are at home, although its not so good if you are ill. Would love to be at home watching telly. I hope I get a couple of weeks to myself before the boy arrives. Please don't come early little one!

skidaddle · 07/11/2007 13:57

amani - yes me too - feet up, on mumsnet, wondering about a cup of tea and some chocolate - life isn't so bad, is it?

hope kerioke is OK, was expecting to have heard from her before now..

claireybraxtonhicks · 07/11/2007 14:35

Skid I think it was very good of you to fess up to it being wee! Sorry about the cough though

fifisworld · 07/11/2007 14:46

Skid - Hope your coughs better soon, theres nothing worse than a bad cough imo.

Kerioke - Hope your ok

Hope everyone else is ok?

Ive just had an emotional breakdown over something stupid.
My dad normally comes to the hospital with me for my iron drips as dp has got no holidays left. He has just rang to say he cant come on Friday coz he's got to work, someones off on the sick.
Ive just broke down in tears, hysterically, coz ds always works himself in the hospital and ive got no-one else who can come with me or have him while im there

I feel so stupid, my dad asked why i was crying and when i told him he started laughing and that made me worse, i had to put the phone down and ring him back when id calmed down

loucee · 07/11/2007 14:50

Hi everyone

skidaddle - tea and chocolate sounds great! Hope you're feeling better Amani.

Wizzska, hang in there, not long til your maternity leave and you'll be glad of the extra time off the other side.

I've packed my bags and am pretty much ready for the baby now but I have a horrible feeling I've forgotten something! Think I'll have to mentally walk through going in labour, what I'll need then coming home etc to work out if I have forgotten something or if it's just nerves!
I do still need to pack a bag for DD incase we need to drop her off at a friends house when I go into labour (inlaws are only available during daylight hours!)

Just got my money saving expert email in - anyone who likes a Pizza Express you should buy the Times newspaper today, there's a voucher for buy 1 adult meal, get 1 free (and it's the MOST expensive meal you get free!) valid til the end of Nov - Sun to Thurs dining only.

mimicakey · 07/11/2007 14:57

Thanks for the tip skid!

Poor fifisworld! I don't have any useful suggestions I'm afraid but am sending you some hugs.

mimicakey · 07/11/2007 15:00

ahhhh, it's a revelation!

fifisworld · 07/11/2007 15:08

Thanks mimi -

Is there such a thing as pre-natal depression coz i think ive got it.
Ive just had a go at dp on the phone as soon as he rang. Ive went mad at him for not being able to get time off on friday and for the fact that for the past 4 weekends he was supposed to cut the grass and hasnt, and was supposed to move ds's wardrobe and drawers so i can finish putting his border up in his room, and he hasnt.

Ds is being a pita, i feel like i cant cope

mimicakey · 07/11/2007 15:12

Don't talk like that fifi I'm sure you're doing a great job!

mixedmama · 07/11/2007 15:13

fifi - apparently there is something called antenatal depression... have a look on the depressed threads on here.... really helpful.

Is there anywhere you could leave DS just for an hour or so and go and have a nice bath or something.... calm yourself down.

fifisworld · 07/11/2007 15:19

No everyones at work

I dont normally feel like this its just today that ive felt really down, and i think with worrying about my appointments and stuff isnt helping.
I think i just need a early night, i didnt sleep much last night, supposed to be xmas shopping with my brother tonight but might give it a miss.
Im starting to get a bit stressed about getting everything done within the next 4 weeks as well.

And ds bless him, i think he's bored but he's so full of energy atm and i feel too knackered to play with him. He's watching cbeebies now and has calmed down.

Wizzska · 07/11/2007 15:34

Oh fifi, sending you hugs. I'm sure its normal for your hormones to get your emotions going crazy. It is especially frustrating when you increasingly can't do things for yourself and depend on others who don't see the urgency. I wish I could help you.

Loucee - that Martin Lewis is great isn't he. DH gets the money saving tips emailed too.

RE: hospital bag - do remember (unlike my brother) that you'll need baby clothes to take the little one home in. They had to have manky hospital second hand clothes for my poor niece.

mixedmama · 07/11/2007 15:37

Ohhh fifi... any way you can get DS to bed early and have a wind down. Cbeebies is a life saver sometimes isnt it.

claraquitebignow · 07/11/2007 15:43

Fifi - if it makes you feel any better, my dd is upstairs watching the 6th episode (in a row) of Peppa Pig while I quickly catch up on here! Took her to Tumbletots this morning though so hopefully have tired her out a little!
I wish I could give you some advice, apart from to confirm that there definitely is such a thing as ante-natal depression; apparently it is almost as common as pnd but little spoken about. Worth having a word with your gp or midwife perhaps?
And a bit of practical advise - ditch the Christmas shopping and do it (and everything else possible) online. It makes life a LOT easier!

Skidaddle - I have the perfect name for you - Skidwaddle?

Yes am watching developments in Pakistan with interest. My DH keeps reassuring me it will all be over by Christmas but I am not so sure, it could go either way. If it all goes tits-up, the decision may be made for us as they may not let me and the children go out. In which case I don't think DH would go either. I am trying not to stress about it too much at the moment...

Have finally packed my hospital bag, apart from about 300 things I will need to put in at the last moment. I have also been getting lots of Braxton Hicks (I think) which i don't remember getting before. I assume this means nothing, not like the baby is about to put in an appearance or anything...

fifisworld · 07/11/2007 15:53

Ive just left ds watching the tv and had a nice cup of hot chocolate and some cake, feel a bit better after ive had a bit of a rant on here as well.
Sometimes its nice to let off steam to people who understand and know what your going through, dp just hasnt got a clue.

i'll be fine once ive had a good nights sleep, if that day ever comes before ds2 arrives

suey2 · 07/11/2007 16:02

hello all,
Had the hospital antenatal class this morning- sooooo much better for me than the NCT. Practical comprehensive advice backed up by evidence and statistics, rather than anecdotal scaremongering about the various methods of intervention. All bar homoeopathy which of course is just marvellous and what everyone should do . Don't get me wrong, if it helps the individual, do it, but I get cross when they are so damning of medical intervention and so actively promoting the alternative approach which has absolutely nothing to prove that the effect is anything other than placebo.
OK rant over. Feel v virtuous as i have actually been for a swim today- god it felt nice. And ladies, PELVIC FLOOR.
Hope kerioke is ok and those still at work are not suffering too much.

Wizzska · 07/11/2007 16:10

Suey - polish your halo for going for a swim. I've not done anything like that for ages. It sounds quite nice, but I've ditched my gym on financial grounds now.

suey2 · 07/11/2007 16:14

aye wizzska, but you are still at work and would be doing amazingly well to g do any extra exercise. I went to my local council pool which cost £4. not bad, i reckon.

Wizzska · 07/11/2007 16:30

I feel dead on my arse, as opposed to on my feet sitting here at my desk. Sooo tired. Am considering starting ML a couple of days early next week. Will see how it goes. At least it is more relaxing without my temp here - I can quietly sort the gallery website out with the new catalogue and stuff on it. Much easier writing instructions than answering questions.

Caz10 · 07/11/2007 17:32

Just logged on to see you say "dead on my arse" wizzska - oohhhh me too!! Isn't this knackering ladies?!! 4 weeks left of work and am counting every bl##dy day of it, could go to sleep right now for the night, but I have a massive pile of marking to get through first . Again I am total AWE of those of you who are not 1st time mums! I can barely look after myself at the moment (plus I suppose my other 28 children at school ha ha!).

Hope everyone is well and coping with all the aches and pains (and labour scares, yikes!!).

macdoodle · 07/11/2007 17:45

Me too feel like dying from tiredness...worked 10 hour day yesterday and felt ok but today poor body has just given up nearly missed school run cos dozing on setee....god still 4 more weeks of work

Caz10 · 07/11/2007 17:47

I feel your pain macdoodle!! I;m so scared this baby comes early, I will never cope with labour if I haven't had a rest first!!

macdoodle · 07/11/2007 17:54

me too caz have got 2 weeks off matleave before school breaks up for xmas intend to have a rest, tie up loose ends at work , sort out house babies stuff hosp bag, finish xmas shopping wrap presents cards etc ...so if baby comes early will be well and truly buggered (due Boxing Day am hoping will wait till New Year is that very mean??)....
