Oh that's great Jenswish - just what you need when you're stressed - Suspense! Sending you good vibrations.

MrsBiscuit · 02/11/2007 11:56

Jenswish, that's awful, but don't let them bully you out of a job.

I seem to remember that they must give you transcribed notes of the meeting, so get hold of these and go through them in detail to makes sure that a) they reflect everything that was said and b) that their evidence stacks up.

Then use the next meeting to establish your point of view and fight back.

Big hugs.

MamaMaiasaura · 02/11/2007 11:56

Fluffymummy - hope you feel better soon. Take it easy today if you can x

Susie - am pleased with it all up although they accidently packed up 2 wrong cot legs. Not a problem tho as called them once realsied and they are sending them to us Wood is a lovely warm colour. Re the mat leave, i had to take early mat leave with ds1 and iirc i also lost pay as was start of mat leave.

Angechica - that is really interesting about the omega. We get so much conflicting advice. I thought that we had to avoid oily fish due to levels of mercury. I am still taking preg vits.

Madmouse those statistics help us to breathe relief.

MrsBicuit - you can get vertical stretchmarks unfortunately.. i had them on thighs.

Beller - 4 day a week will be so much nicer esperically as it will be 2 days on a day off then 2 days on. Enjoy it and relax on your day off.

Lulubump - 21 days!! not long then till you get to rest.

This weekend we are goingt o 2 large displays. Think bump will be moving alot. Have the rugby club on Friday and big one at country park on Saturday. Also hoping ot go to a family fun day at an activity centre.

Ds had a crappy start to day. He was playing in the playground before bell went and went down from standing onto the back of head. Poor boy. Lots of love and cuddles given. On the upside it meant that his wobbly came out then and he didnt lose it at school. He has guitar today so was desperate to stay.

I went to another baby shop and bought more muslins - blue and white with booties on. I also got the bando and it is FAB no more falling down trousers i hope!

MamaMaiasaura · 02/11/2007 11:57

Jnewish that is awful xx

madmouse · 02/11/2007 12:02

Jenswish, what a nightmare - ending up in hospital as well.

Do look after yourself. If you have another meeting make sure they take your needs into account. Get accompanied by a colleague or trade union rep and if it at all helps request that the meeting is away from the office in a neutral venue.

If you do not think you can handle the stress of another meeting get your GP to record it and it will just have to wait until after the baby. Baby first! But you may find it less stressful to have it dealt with now.

Get lots of rest.

Jenswish · 02/11/2007 12:05

Yeh I'd rather know whats happening now cos otherwise i'll be constantly worried and will never relax.

Angechica · 02/11/2007 12:27

just as a footnote the reason these mum-omega ones are such a rip (£12 a pop for 30 capsules) is that apparently they are made from tuna oil that has been purified to remove all the toxins, etc, so safer than normal cod liver oil.

mixedmama · 02/11/2007 12:36

Afternoon all...

Nothing much to say again today altho gaviscon and lots of pillows seem to have cured my gastric reflux and allowed me to sleep from 11.30 till 6.30.. brilliant.

Amani · 02/11/2007 12:50

Sorry to hear about your meeting Jenwish - can you not go to a trade union or someone for advice/support.
SusieMJ - bummer about your finanical plans going out the window - but at least you are getting paid something

Fed up with work and got a headache coming on.....

OP posts:
beller · 02/11/2007 13:22

I think youre right Angechica, have just been looking it up on th einternet and i think the pregnancy ones are scanned in some way for mercury? Oops have been taking fish oil...but not liver oil...will go and get some preggy ones!

Jenwish..thats terrible..hope you get some answers soon xx

mixedmama · 02/11/2007 13:27

Jenwish just read your news. That is awful. Surely they cannot dismiss you tho unless it is gross misconduct or soemthing. I think in the circ def go for the meeting to put your mind at rest, but def take an advocate as suggested and get the transcript. Then definitely take mat leave early, it isnt worth the stress. Good luck hun.

fluffymummy · 02/11/2007 13:35

Does that mean it isn't remotely Vit A related? If so, not sure how scared I really am by normal cod liver oil tablets...I mean, they recommend them for kids...

Jenswish - try not to let it get to you too much...not sure how, but just keep focussed on the bigger picture - the baby is so much more important right now

Thanks to everyone for 'feeling better' wishes...really dicky tummy and seriously cr*p day at work but it is nearly the weekend...

sabinar · 02/11/2007 13:49

good afternoon all.

eh. can i just start by saying that I am TRULY looking forward to LO starting to make the move south. I'm really starting to tire of having his legs mixed up in my lungs... very uncomfortable esp. if I have to sit for any period of time (as I generally do when I'm working).

I have about an hour or so left to do before I can head home to work there, where I can at least flop over my ball every 15 mins or so, or stretch out on the sofa. Can't wait.

so, we had our first NCT class last night and it was great. We have a really nice group of people, we're not the only hippies contemplating a homebirth (not that we're actually hippies, but that tends to be the automatic assumption when we mention we're planning a homebirth) and our teacher is v nice and has taught more than 200 of these courses so she knows that she's talking about. DH really enjoyed it (esp. the relaxation exercises we did) and we're both looking forward to the rest of the classes!

eh. my next appointment just turned up early so I'd better run (this is good, means I can head home sooner!)

thinking calm and positive thoughts for you all on this Friday afternoon (even though I have to work all weekend this weekend too, hopefully for the last time in a while!)

madmouse · 02/11/2007 13:56

Laughing to myself about all the little niggles and complaints and aches and pains that are sneaking onto this thread. Personally feel like 80 when shuffling to the loo at 2am with a stiff back. Guess we are well and truly third trimester aren't we?

PS Not meant to upset anyone with not-so-little pains like SPD etc.

Amani · 02/11/2007 14:04

Has anyone arranged a hospital visit? Ours do one on Sundays and although I gave birth there last time, thinking of going there just for a nosey and to see if anything has changed...

OP posts:
Lulubump · 02/11/2007 14:23

Amani - would you believe mine don't let you have any kind of visit/tour to labour suite, because they're so understaffed. The only tours they allow are online virtual ones!

Amani · 02/11/2007 14:30

How very hi-tech and modern having a virtual tour! Doesn't beat the real thing though.

OP posts:
MrsMcJnr · 02/11/2007 14:58

you are all so nice about my mega posts, are you sure you don?t think oh hell, here she is again?

I actually had an AWFUL night DH was out at a work do and had left his mobile at home, he was meant to be back at 11 as that was when the place closed but I woke at 12, then 1, then 2, then 3 ? no DH, I was getting so worried he rolled in at 3.45 drunk as a skunk and proceeded to snore like hell ? not much more sleep was had by me!

Anyone imposing a drinking curfew on their DH/DP/birth partner? What if he is in that state when I need him?!

Hello Awen poor DS hope he is fine when he gets home. I got some coloured muslins too with boots on them ? they are going to be for face and hands and the white ones for bum and bits! mine were from Boots.

Hello Amani I get a labour ward tour on 15/11 I think what is freaking me out the most is the fact that we really don?t have long to go and yet I have had no AN classes yet and really don?t know what to expect from the birth ? I?m used to being really organised and the thought of the baby arriving before I?d learnt enough scares me to death.

Beller ? leaning over the bump is odd isn?t it? Yay to 4 day weeks for you hon sounds like a busy weekend for you ? can?t remember if I said, my 2 sisters and 2 nephews arrive tomorrow for the weekend ? can?t wait haven?t seen any of them since June! I seem to remember my sis saying that as long as her baby was born between 37 and EDD+10 weeks she could have it at home

Lulubump I?d like to know the answer to your question too ? I plan to actually pack the bag next weekend

Fluffymummy sorry to hear that you have a bug hope you feel much better soon and get to enjoy the weekend.

Hey Angechica thanks for the tips on the omega 3 & 6 ? I take Pregnacare Plus and there is an extra supplement of those

Madmouse hello. Wow there is a lot less of you these days hon, well done!

MrsB ? absolutely, I think they can go in all directions I?ve upped the oil routine to twice a day to try and keep them at bay! My cat has decided to remedy my cushion issue and now wants to lie to my right side so I can?t roll onto my back, if I do, she kicks me with her stuckie!! please pray that the stuckie can come off this weekend, all 3 pussies are having a photo portrait done next Sat (free with the insurance!) and I?m not sure that the stuckie will add to it in a good way1

Susiemj ? I seem to have missed something ? can you repeat for me? sorry!

Jenswish ? poor you sounds like a horrible situation. You are better out of there but I do agree that it should be resolved and not left to rumble on.

Glad you had a good sleep Mixedmama

Sabinar glad the class went well my dilemma continues! I?m just nosey but what do you do?

Lulubump · 02/11/2007 15:05

Seriously Mrs McJ - don't know how I'd manage to keep up with this thread without your mega posts that summarise all the highs and lows for everyone....so keep them coming

Amani · 02/11/2007 15:16

Hey Mrs McJnr - well done again on the lengthy post. Best make sure your DH has his mobile chained around his neck before your due date!

OP posts:
beller · 02/11/2007 15:22

Hi Mrsmcjnr.. i thin most of th eguys i work with have been put on a drink ban from 2 weeks before due date? Seesm to be the way of it anyway....Do you think he will go for that? My sister is my birthing partner, and im sure she will have a drink at xmas..but i wont let her get plastered, lucky for her my BIL dosnt really drink, so hes the one on driving duty!

Sabinar - are we the only 2 on this thread for a home birth? Think maybe one more cant remember Do you still get the look when you tell anyone....Dont think i have told anyone that thinks its a good idea?! hahaha

susiemj · 02/11/2007 15:26

Hi MrsMc - Well, I just got paid less then I thought. At first I was freaking because I thought it was a whole month's pay and maternity leave, but it's actually only a couple of hundred pounds. It's to do with sick leave apparently.

Just told Dh and he was extremely relieved. This month's wages are our 'emergecy' fund. He was contemplating freelancing over the weekend to make it up. My DH is a real sweetie.

Sounds like yours is making the most of things before the baby arrives (ahem). Could you ask him what he expects you to do if you need him when he's plastered? Sounds like time for a mama-strop! p.s. I mean this light-heartedly but I think you do have a point.

mixedmama · 02/11/2007 15:29

On the subject of tours... ours do it every Sunday but you have to call to make sure they arent too busy. Was hoping to go this Sunday but DH might be busy so will see.

susiemj · 02/11/2007 15:30

Oh! and sorry you had a crap night.

Madmouse - I think it's hilarious too, even though I've got SPD. I tried to have a laugh about it with my 8-weeks pregnant best friend. Strangely, she didn't find it so funny. Have mended my ways. Don't mean to say it's NOT a total pain in the bum, hips, lungs, back, kidneys and lord only knows what else.

Amani · 02/11/2007 15:35

I remember last time we went, all we could hear were the screams of women giving birth in the other delivery rooms -which scared me silly. This time, as I've 'been there - done that', don't think it will surprise me that much
