bouncingT disaster why is their timing soooo bad?]
Loucee, i got it right, but because of the postal strikes our mail is 2 weeks delayed- I received my 3rd oct journal on the 17th so predict i will get my 17th oct in 2 weeks- unless they start clearing the backlog soon

OP posts:
buzzybee · 19/10/2007 08:14

Suey, so I presume that means all prospective job candidates will also not see advert for another 2 weeks? Or until their journals are delivered. Are there any other advertising channels you could consider?

I'm probably middle of the road when it comes to cleaning. I have a cleaner but she only comes once a fortnight for 3 hours. I like the house never to get really dirty but am not hugely fastidious and have to admit recently have not been doing more than the very basic stuff in between her visits. What I really need is someone to come round and tidy the place, put away washing etc every few days - that would be heaven!

skidaddle · 19/10/2007 08:24

Morning all,

Thank you for worrying about my absence, you are very sweet [touched emotion]. I am fine, I have just had loads on at work. Had to go to a conference and then give a talk to the whole department about my research (v. scary) and then lecturing BUT it's all over now and I can spend as much time as I like on mn again as usual

It was also dd's 2nd birthday yesterday so I took most of the day off and invited all her favourite boys (ranging from 7 months to 5 yrs) round for birthday cake - she was in absolute heaven!!

Sooo many messages and I've only been away three days... will catch up properly now

skidaddle · 19/10/2007 08:34

claireybee - love your new domestic goddess policy after reading everyone's messages - makes me feel a bit bad too - cleaning bathroom DAILY?? Oh my goodness, that is so far from anything I do..

maternity leave: I am due 11th December and just got my official letter yesterday that my ML starts on 10th December so one day off! But am thinking he might be late as dd was 2 weeks overdue

claraq - yes I remember conniedescending too - not seen her in any other forums since that famous thread though

hello again furryfox - I remember you too! Sorry you've had such an awful time of it - hope things are better now

suey2 - liked your AIBU thread - though it was very reasonable!

claraq (again) yes I have been feeling sick again too and have been sick a few times - might be everything getting squashed up (my explanation for all symptoms of pg!)

Went for 32 wk appt with mw yesterday - baby is head down (yaay) and is measuring 31 weeks which I am quite relieved about as he was measuring 29 at 27 weeks and I was panicking about having a 10lb-er... She also found something (ketones maybe?) in my urine which is what you see when someone is dieting an the fat is being converted into energy - very strange as I certainly haven't been doing that...

sorry for long post - had to make up for lost time

fifisworld · 19/10/2007 08:38

Glad to hear your ok skiddadle
Ive got my first iron drip thingy today at 11.30, im not lookingforward to it at all
Ive got my dad coming with me to look after ds as dp couldnt get the day off work.
We are going to head into town afterwards and get a bit shopping in and go for lunch so it might not be that bad a day.
Hope everyone else is ok and have been managing to get some sleep.

skidaddle · 19/10/2007 08:49

oh yes fifi - forgot to say - I had a blood transfusion after I had dd (due to haemorrage) and it was the best thing ever! My dh said he could literally see the colour coming back into my face and in a matter or 30 mins I suddenly had energy and strength and was grinning and chatting (previously slumped pathetically barely able to speak!) - so it could be a very good thing - good luck!

Amani · 19/10/2007 09:02

Morning all.

Good to see you are ok skid
Fifi - all the best with your appointment, let us know how it goes.

Tired today, DD woke up at 3am and wanted to see pictures of the aeroplanes that we took at RAF Cosford and didn't settle back down until 4am.

mixedmama · 19/10/2007 10:53

Morning all,

Skidaddle - yay you are back [waves manically]

fifi - good luck for today, nice that you can have a day out.

Fell quite bad this morning, went to my mum and dads last night and my dad looks absolutely knackered, poor thing, he looks after DS for 4 days of the week and mum takes over when she gets home from work at 3.00. He was actually sleeping at 6.00 pm. Good thing is next week is half term so mum is off work so we have agreed that she will come rou8nd to my house in the mornings and give DS brekkie etc at ours and chill out there for a bit then take him home mid morningish to give dad a break.

becklespookle · 19/10/2007 11:42

Bouncing - grrr at your boss, not what you need when you are trying to wind things down! Hope you get it sorted with as little stress as poss hun.

Insy, not to worry about mixing me up - wish I was due in 6 weeks! (shouldn't say that really in case I jinx myself, I don't want baby to come early!)

Loucee, glad you are feeling better but for your poor DD. Always really feel for them when they are poorly.

Fifi, hope your transfusion goes well today - at least you have shopping and a nice lunch to look forward to afterwards!

Skidaddle, glad you are okay and that DD had a good birthday!

I was wondering if we should set up some kind of text buddy system now we are getting close to the finish line? Would save us from worrying everytime someone was missing for a few days!

My LO is still turning over and over fairly regularly, I think s/he was doing somersaults last night - it was a very strange sensation and I kept feeling limbs scraping across the front of my bump! Does anyone else's LO get hiccups when they drink something? Mine does! Had a couple of sips of water before getting into bed last night and within a minute baby was hiccupping - hehe! Flipped itself round too while it had them (first felt the hiccups at the bottom then they were at the top) so it's head was sticking out under my ribs!

skidaddle · 19/10/2007 11:42

lol amani - did you show her the photos?

Hi MM - your poor dad - is he retired and hence has time to look after your ds? Sounds like a little break while your mum is off is just what he needs

skidaddle · 19/10/2007 11:44

beckle - dd used to get hiccups all the time when I was pg with her but haven't felt them this time. I used to find it really annoying - almost as if I had them myself

mixedmama · 19/10/2007 12:11

He had a stroke about 6 yrs ago so the docs said he couldnt work anymore... he is completely able and stuff and pretty fully recovered, although he gets tired quicker and stuff, but really felt like I was taking advantage last night. The problem is we are all really close so I spend alot of time round there anyway at weekends and stuff so DS is always there pretty much. He is a gem, love him to bits.

Agree with the text buddy thing.... how willl we go about it, i guess none of us want to publish numbers on here. any ideas.

suey2 · 19/10/2007 12:40

ok experienced girlies.
Braxton hicks. My bump just went really hard and i got really breathless and nauseous for about 5 minutes. Does this sound like BH?

OP posts:
mixedmama · 19/10/2007 12:46

Suey - the tightness yes. Breathlessness for that period of time now sure... I do tend to get nauseous with mine tho.

claireybee · 19/10/2007 13:02

Buzzy-Hope you don't go into labour on Labour day!

Fifi-hope the iron drip isn't too traumatic

Beckle- don't count on the cream carpet meaning the hoovering gets done more often, we have one and it just means it looks bad for longer!

Also hiccups, I'm so relieved this LO hasn't had them yet. DD used to get the constantly which was cute when she was inside me but used to really distress me when she was first born and still had them constantly-I used to cry every time!

Must add myself to the due date list...

claireybee · 19/10/2007 13:06

There seem to be a lot of boys due in December don't there? Also a lot more surprises than there were when I was expecting dd-then there were only one or two who hadnt found out the sex (I wasn't one of them!)

Amani · 19/10/2007 13:11

Skid - no - want her to get in the habit of if she wakes up at night to fall back asleep. Had to sing 'Happy Birthdy' about 999 times though!

MM - know the feeling about parents looking after the kids. My ILs looks after DD 2 ays during the week and my MIL has shoulder problems and I always ask her if she is ok to look after DD with her condition and she always says yes, even though I suspent she is in pain sometimes. Think with my ILs as they are retired they enjoy having DD around because it livens up the day.

How about exchanging numbers on FACEBOOK?

mixedmama · 19/10/2007 13:23

That would be better I reckon as we can do it in an email cant we, or email in fact. How would iit work, would each of us have one or two of others numbers so that everyone had at least one other persons number.

Amani · 19/10/2007 13:35

I'd say just give your number to who you feel comfortable with having it.

mixedmama · 19/10/2007 13:43

That sounds good. Well expect an email on Facebook then Amani as since you flit between Dec and Jan like me I guess that it makes sense for you to have mine.

Amani · 19/10/2007 13:49

MM - ok no problem - will send you mine too.

skidaddle · 19/10/2007 14:01

is everyone on facebook then? makes me feel very old and uncool

Amani · 19/10/2007 14:03

Skid - it started on the Jan 08 thread, where some people put thier names on thier profile for a little while so they could be seached for on FACEBOOK.

mixedmama · 19/10/2007 14:03

Skid - I am on facebook but have no idea what most of it means... i just accept people and send emails.... so you are not alone.
