Hi all 👋🏻

Here's a new thread so we can keep chatting through the sleepless nights and the many outfits they've already grown out of... 😄

@kersh33 I've read that it's much more comfortable for babies to have a footrest on a high chair (think about us, having your legs dangling is actually quite uncomfortable!) so if you get the antilop you may need a hack to add a footrest :)

Roxy8203 · 24/01/2021 22:16

We have the maxi cosi high chair as it can be used from birth and coverts into a toddle chair, it's great but not a cheap option. I did a weaning zoom and she said it's good for them to have a foot rest to make them more comfortable but I believe you can buy a footrest for the ikea chair

kersh33 · 25/01/2021 06:49

Hmm... thanks for the feedback @Roxy8203 and @MooseWL. Yes, the lack of footrest is a bit of a pain on the Antilop.

I am heading to a baby shop today to go and have a look at some chairs to see if that helps me make my decision. I find it easier if I can actually see things rather than just online - this year has been rather tricky for that!

HYGRAD® Multi Function Baby Child Recline Foldable Highchair Feeding Seat Chair Infant High Chair Food Tray Safety Belt with Toy Storage Basket (Blue) www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07SVZ9K5K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_TAk7Fb1C6HB2A?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Rafe got this for Christmas. I’m massively impressed with it. 3 Different heights, also reclines, removable tray insert for when he’s playing, it’s on wheels, has a storage bag underneath, really good and he seems to like sitting in it lol.

kersh33 · 25/01/2021 14:49

@Roxy8203 Is it the Minla chair? Just saw it today and it looked pretty good but wasn't sure how easy it would be to keep clean.

Roxy8203 · 25/01/2021 18:46

@kersh33 yep thats the one. He's hasn't started weaning yet but I think the covers cone off. It's probably not as easy to clean as a plastic chair but it will last him a lot longer

ChipsAreLife · 25/01/2021 19:52

We've always got the IKEA one. It's the easiest to clean in my experience which is why you seem them in restaurants/cafes a lot. I've not used a footrest but may get one this time. The only thing is you can't fold it up which means it's always out.

LO rolled over today 🥰 I missed it as was sorting my four year old at the time 😅

Roxy8203 · 26/01/2021 12:21

You can get a free pair of blade and rose leggings In Either chameleon or owl with code OYJCFL9ZX

Sara7455 · 26/01/2021 13:44

@Roxy8203 thanks for the heads up!

MooseWL · 26/01/2021 16:29

@chipsarelife haha typical. Jacob got bored of trying to roll so has stopped trying. Tbh the longer he stays in one place the easier my life is!

Ooh thanks @roxy8203

Is anyone else a bit bored? I'm so fed up of the same lockdown routine everrry single day! I look forward to nap time so I don't have to think of a million different ways to entertain a 4 month old! I can't believe I've been on maternity leave almost 5 months now and haven't been allowed out 🙄

Roxy8203 · 26/01/2021 17:30

@MooseWL yeah I'm very bored. I've found a couple zoom baby classes but it's not the same, it does kill and hour tho.
We had just started taking him
Swimming so I'm gutted that has had to stop as he really seemed to enjoy it. And yes what a crappy maternity leave 😕

Sara7455 · 26/01/2021 20:12

@MooseWL so bored here too! Zoom classes and the online bits and pieces or The Baby Club kill some time but they’re definitely not the same. Definitely missing being allowed out of the house - I think we both are!

kersh33 · 28/01/2021 18:34

So we started weaning last weekend. We're going down the purée route for now and will probably introduce some BLÉ a little bit further down the road.
We are doing single veg purée every evening for 2 weeks then will look to introduce fruit purées in the afternoon at the childminders.

So far it has been going really well. The first day was a bit dicy and a lot of it got spat out but DD really seems to be getting the hang of it now - she's started launching herself at the spoon with her mouth open! 😂

So far we've done carrots, green beans and leeks. Think we're going to try brocoli and sweet potatoes next.

ShiningStarz · 29/01/2021 14:59

The maxi coding minla looks great and has a zip cover for easy cleaning.

I really get my ass into gear and order the video/sound monitor. Anyone recommend one?
Little one used to sleep in living room post bath before our bedtime but she's a nightmare now! Think lights and tv are too much stimulation so I plan to feed her in dark after bath and put her in the next to me and watch her from downstairs! Any thoughts?

kersh33 · 30/01/2021 12:10

@ShiningStarz The Minla does look popular and is slightly less expensive than the Chicco Polly Progres5 so think that might be a good option.

DD rolled today! It was very exciting but caught me a bit by surprise. She rolled completely from front to back. She's only done it once and doesn't look very inclined to do it again, but still. 😊

ShiningStarz · 30/01/2021 16:24

Our little one hates tummy time!!! She just won't do it for longer than a minute !!! She does try and sit up tho and has been for weeks so I'm not worried :)

Margo34 · 01/02/2021 15:35

My free blade and rose owl leggings arrived today, thanks for that @roxy8203! Got them in 1-2year old size so I can see an owl toddling around rather than waste the view while baby is mostly stuck in one place still, cannot wait!

Margo34 · 01/02/2021 15:42

Do any of you have babies suffering with reflux or silent reflux?

OrDis · 01/02/2021 15:58

Ooo i’ve just ordered some leggins too thanks @Roxy8203! DD loves owls! Not that she’ll be able to see one on her own butt haha!!

My DD has reflux @Margo34, it’s not terrible but did cause her weight gain to slow so we now give carobel in her milk to thicken it and help it stay down. She still pukes but probably about half as much volume as before and her weight gain is back on track

Roxy8203 · 01/02/2021 16:14

@OrDis @Margo34 we got the chameleons and they came really quickly. He was given some for Xmas and I dressed him in them yesterday, the other half did a nappy change and when he came down they were on backwards 🙄🙄

The milna high chair is great

Margo34 · 01/02/2021 17:27

@OrDis my DD seems to be suffering with silent reflux and I think that is what has made sleep/naps seem so unattainable and me so exhausted. She doesn't puke so much as bring it up and swallow it back down, cry, hiccup and cough a lot. She sounds quitr hoarse too and can be so happy one minute yet inconsolable the next. I can't help but feel fobbed off by HV and also GP with some dud advice!

OrDis · 01/02/2021 18:03

Aww yes silent reflux was what my Dd had to begin with I think but then at about 9 weeks old she started bringing it up instead. Prior to that she was also swallowing it and coughing lots. Have they given you any medication to try?

LatteLover12 · 01/02/2021 19:59

Aaaaaaggghhhhhh!!!!

Just needed to get that out there!

Baby is 4.5 months and fully embracing the sleep regression. He's currently exhausted but screaming the house down at any attempt to settle him. DP is with him while I hide with wine.

He's decided he doesn't even want to nap through the day unless he's wheeled round the village in the pram.

He'd been in the dark in his cot for weeks now. Ugh.

Don't get me wrong, he's only ever slept for 3 hours at a time (max) but it was working and now it's not and I just need to scream!

Maybe weaning will help ... 5 weeks to go!

I'm still exclusively breastfeeding 😴 😴 😴

OP posts:
Margo34 · 01/02/2021 20:10

@OrDis been prescribed gaviscon but I've heard that that can exasperated stomach cramps and constipation. As it is, baby wakes frequently with stomach cramps and straining. Last night she was awake in tears and pain from her stomach every 20mins from 4am (she'd settle for 20m sleep, then wake again and take 15m to settle, sleep 20m then wake again etc etc).

I'm still EBF so also been suggested to change my diet cutting out dairy and acidic foods 🤷‍♀️

She's def got worse in the last 6w 😔

OrDis · 01/02/2021 20:14

Aww I am sorry @Margo34 that does sound rough. Yes, gaviscon made my DD constipated, carobel does a similar thing (thickens the milk) but obviously not going to work with breastfeeding (we formula feed). You could try to dairy-free route, perhaps it will help. Hugs to you, it is rough and hard seeing them in pain
