Hi all 👋🏻

Here's a new thread so we can keep chatting through the sleepless nights and the many outfits they've already grown out of... 😄

@ChipsAreLife you've done so well expressing for this long! I struggle to find the time or when I do i feel guilty for doing it instead of cleaning or cooking or playing with the kids. Ahhhh mums guilt eh, always there for whatever reason.
Can you get anyone to help out during those 11 days?
Oh that's a shame about your elvie, im sure you'll find a buyer on ebay

ShiningStarz · 26/11/2020 20:16

Hey I hope everyone is doing ok?
Can't believe my little lady is 11 weeks!
She is so much settled now, wakes still once or twice in the night but funnily enough as soon as she's brought from next to me and into my bed she falls asleep straightaway and not a peep from her!!!
During day getting easier too as she'll play in her musical jungle gym thing so I can get cooking proper meals. Iv 2 stone to loose and determined to have 1 off by the new year 🤞🤞

Lorna198 · 26/11/2020 21:41

@ShiningStarz it’s getting easier everyday here too. Starting to entertain himself on his play mat so cam get 5 minutes lol.

2nd lot of jabs on Tuesday, he went straight to sleep after a few seconds crying last time so hope he’s same this week.

Hubby is working away next week to so 3 days on our own! Could be fun 😂

ShiningStarz · 30/11/2020 07:51

@Lorna198 how did it go with your hubby working away? I hope all was ok.
We are managing so well now! Little one will be happy in her rocker at the bathroom door while I shower and is also happier on her own playing on her activity mat while we have dinner etc! We finally eat together at the same time lol!! She loves lying flat and kicking her arms and legs. 2nd set of vaccinations are this Fri.

Hope everyone else doing ok?

MooseWL · 30/11/2020 08:51

@shiningstarz I got a bouncy chair this week and managed to shower with him happy in the bathroom doorway in it too. It's nice to be finally able to put them down for a bit! Never works at dinner time though, I'm pretty impressed with my eating one handed skills now!

Jacob is always kicking and wriggling too, no wonder he's a beanpole. We had the first jabs a week ago and apart from a bit of crying and sleepiness they weren't too bad!

OrDis · 30/11/2020 10:59

I’ve got the first set of jabs tomorrow. Hoping she’ll just sleep them off lol! I am dreading it a bit though! Know it’s for the best just hate seeing her cry with pain 😭

ShiningStarz · 30/11/2020 13:09

@MooseWL we have this and it's a lifesaver for dinner times, she loves it. The sides go up so we put her in it and she'll play happily for 30 mins at a time before it tires her out!! Or sometimes like the pic we let one side flap down so she can wriggle

ShiningStarz · 30/11/2020 13:10

It's on offer for £20 less than I paid!!! Arghh £59 in smyths

kersh33 · 30/11/2020 17:51

I'm starting to think about a bed time routine. Those of you reading to your babies - what are you reading? I'm a bit lost as the board books look too simple and most children's books look too complex! As usual as probably overthinking things but would love to hear what other mummies are doing!

ShiningStarz · 30/11/2020 20:23

@kersh33 we read guess how much I love you and ten little fingers and ten little toes. Love them both :)

Lorna198 · 01/12/2020 07:34

@ShiningStarz it’s tomorrow he goes! Must admit I’m kinda looking forward to no snoring 😂
@OrDis good luck with the jabs, my boys second lot today, he was extremely sleepy last time so hoping for a repeat performance.
Hope everyone enjoys their chocolate for breakfast 🐷😂

kersh33 · 01/12/2020 07:36

@Lorna198 good luck with the jabs!!

OrDis · 01/12/2020 08:17

Thanks guys! We’ve had a rough night with sleep and I really need someone to tell me that it gets better! I know i’m lucky in that Audrey only wakes twice in the night for food, and that would be amazing if that was it, but she seems to be extremely bothered by wind and wakes up screaming and crying every time she farts all night from about 2am onwards. Then she’s awake for the day at 5am. So I feed her around 12, then i’m up again around 2 and I don’t get fully back to sleep again until DH takes her downstairs between 5-6am. Last night has just broken me. I just want to sleep and I want her to sleep. She screams and wails and farts and then she’s ok for a bit but is wide awake and chatty and it takes ages to get her back to sleep, only for her to wake again 10 minutes later screaming because of another fart!! I try so hard to wind her and usually get a good few burps up, but it seems to make no difference to the farts. We use infacol. Should I give gripe water a try? Someone please tell me this will get better!!

kersh33 · 01/12/2020 11:57

@OrDis That sounds so tough for you and poor Audrey of course.
I'm afraid I can't really offer any advice as this is my first and while DD also has a problem with wind it only unsettles her rather than cause screaming. She'll thrash about a bit and whimper but then goes back to sleep once the fart comes out. So I've learnt to ignore them as she doesn't need me. I find that she goes back to sleep easiest with either her thumb or a dummy - could that help at all?
Re the gripe water, I'm usually of the mind to try anything as long as it's not too harsh to see if it helps. Gripe water definitely can't hurt and it might help.

You have all my sympathies- I think it does get better as their digestive system matures. Oh - one thing we did fairly early on was give her BioGaia probiotics on the advice of our midwife. We just did one course of one bottle and it did help - she was much more unsettled before.

Roxy8203 · 01/12/2020 16:32

My little boy has suffered with wind and rarely settled on his back at about 5am. I've been doing tummy massage and bicycle legs during his happy change which helps a little.
But yesterday I tried probiotics for him. He slept from 9pm to 3 am and then until 6:30am. I can't guarantee that's what helped but it's the only thing that's changed.
We were giving infacol which helped but he choked a couple times which stressed me out too much so I stopped giving it

ShiningStarz · 01/12/2020 23:32

@OrDis hugs I hope you are ok. Our little girl farts and cries too!!! Sounds tough and I hope it gets better for you all soon xx

OrDis · 02/12/2020 00:34

Thanks all. DD had her 8 week jabs today bless her. She screamed a bit afterwards then was fine for a few hours, had a nap etc. But when she woke from nap she was absolutely inconsolable and screaming a scream i’ve never heard before for a good hour before she finally fell asleep (after more calpol). She’s just woken for a feed and the last lot of calpol now and has gone back down ok-ish although she seems a bit unsettled and uncomfortable. Hopefully the calpol will kick in soon and she’ll sleep soundly for a few hours. My heart breaks at her little screams

ShiningStarz · 02/12/2020 02:46

Awww @OrDis you are doing a great job at making her feel better and secure. We have set 2 of jabs on Friday, supposed to be worse as meningitis is in this set. I just keep reminding myself we have to do this for her health 😊

Margo34 · 03/12/2020 14:37

Baby girl had her first jabs this week too, she was very subdued and sorry for herself but slept the rest of the day pretty much.

Is anyone else starting to feel a bit bored or fed up? I love being mum and I love baby but she fights naps now, exhausts herself and then cries all day,or if she does nap it's on me and I can't help feeling useless and like I should be doing something instead of sitting watching TV whilst DH is slaving away at his laptop upstairs. I don't want him or others to judge me. I don't think lockdown has helped as not being able to go out places see family friends or break up the day. I don't do idle well and that seems to be all I am at the moment.

Margo34 · 03/12/2020 14:46

Oh and the washing machine is broken so DH is lugging bags of washing to the laundrette every few days so I can't even do the washing to make me feel less idle - it's all too heavy when wet for me to carry home!

MooseWL · 03/12/2020 21:29

@margo34 I agree, I've always been terrible at sitting around I always had to be doing something, I barely watched TV before the baby and it really gets to me some days.
Have you got a sling? We've finally got into a nap routine this last week as I've tried to stick to wake windows which has really improved his napping as he's not overtired. He'll still only nap on me but with the sling I've managed to do some cooking/baking/present wrapping which has made me feel more productive!
That must be hard without your washing machine ours is on at least once a day atm especially as we're using cloth nappies/wipes. It's endless!
Remember you're not doing nothing though you're growing a little person still 😊 if you think your partner is judging you get them to try and do it for a day! It's hard work!

Margo34 · 03/12/2020 23:33

@MooseWL we're using cloth nappies too and of course it was a nappy wash in the machine when it broke 🙈😭 so we've had to switch to disposables and my god do they stink!!! New machine on order under warranty but the retailer is behind with deliveries so who knows when it will arrive.

I've got a sling but have used it so much lately my back has been really agonising 😩
Thanks for the reassurances

MooseWL · 04/12/2020 09:42

@margo34 oh no... Nightmare! They do really smell. Someone gave us loads of asda wipes which I occasionally use if all the reusables are in the wash and they stink! Hope it gets delivered too you soon!

Is it a stretchy sling? Might need tying a bit tighter if it's hurting your back. Mine says the heavier they get the tighter you need to tie it so they're really pressed against you to take the strain off your back.

I'm so tired today. Jacob has taken to cluster feeding every morning from about 5am and is really loud about it so I can't even snooze through it! (I'm side nursing in bed overnight!)
Sometimes he's not even feeding just wants to be attached to me and it's driving me insane! Is it bad that I'm already excited for 6 months so we can wean 🙄

OrDis · 04/12/2020 10:46

@MooseWL I feel your pain! The Audrey alarm clock goes off every morning without fail at 5am!! 🤣🤣 she’s so lucky she’s cute! It drives me bonkers, it’s not even as if it’s getting light outside so I can’t even blame that!

Margo34 · 05/12/2020 06:33

The baby alarm goes off around 5am for us... for 'the shit show' 😂 she wriggles and writhed and eeks out farts and poops like clockwork 😂💩
