Anyone else out there?! Very excited but super early days so haven’t got anyone else to share this news with!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

@emwantsbiscuits it is sooo reassuring to hear that you had a similar experience with your little dot. Are you worried about it or not really? And did the Sonographer seem concerned? Bring on 12 week scan! Not sure I will be able to wait that long! Xx

emwantsbiscuits · 21/10/2020 10:00

@buntingandstarcharts I’m not too worried :) at first I was disappointed thinking “even longer to wait.” Then I remembered that in the vast majority of cases babies don’t arrive on the due date anyway so who knows :). Good luck for your 12 week scan. I agree, the wait is really difficult. Time seems to be dragging at the moment.

Anyone started showing yet? X

Munda · 21/10/2020 11:08

Hi everyone, just had a positive test after almost 5 years of trying... 😱 I’m 42 and this will be my second, due around mid June. Anyone else in their 40s out there? Have to say I’m still at the shocked stage!

BurningBenches · 21/10/2020 11:43

@munda I'm 41 and pregnant with my 5th. 4th was born when I was 40.

Huge congratulations xxx

SkittyKat · 21/10/2020 11:48

I’m 41 and pregnant with my third. My other two are 11 and 9 though so a big age gap!

SkittyKat · 21/10/2020 11:49

Anyone started showing yet? X
I’m really bloated in the evenings but only 5+4 so not showing yet. Are you?
buntingandstarcharts · 21/10/2020 12:21

@Munda congratulations ❤️

buntingandstarcharts · 21/10/2020 12:21

@SkittyKat I feel massive! All bloat of course as baby is tinnnnny, but it's mad how quickly the stomach muscles relax. This is second baby for me. You?

BurningBenches · 21/10/2020 12:32

@skittykat my 2nd and 3rd are a similar age.

Garman · 21/10/2020 13:11

Won't be showing until after 12 weeks but I don't have any bloat yet this time, I think because I'm much fitter and more active now, that's the only difference I can really think of. I might take that all back in 2 weeks if I'm bloated af Grin

buntingandstarcharts · 21/10/2020 13:21

That's amazing @Garman ! Go you being fitter 😬

Garman · 21/10/2020 13:26

Thanks @buntingandstarcharts! I was very lazy in my first pregnancy other than work where I was on my feet all day, it definitely didn't do me any favours.

Munda · 21/10/2020 15:06

Thanks, doesn’t seem real at the moment! Have you contacted the doc is there anything different with being older?

buntingandstarcharts · 21/10/2020 15:06

@Garman I'm feeling too shattered to stand up full stop 😅😅😅😅

Munda · 21/10/2020 15:08

My other is 8 and will be 9 so it’s definitely going to be a shock to him 🙈

BurningBenches · 21/10/2020 16:09

@Munda I have spoken to the GP because I had a UTI last week so needed pregnancy safe antibiotics. During the call I asked for high dose folic acid due to bmi as I had last time.

My last pregnancy at 40 was probably easier than the ones at 20 and 30. The only issue was I needed fragmin injections from 28wks due to age/bmi/parity.

I went to appointments apologising for being old and fat and they were like no you really aren't.

I was induced at 40wks but that was more to do with his size.

HannahJH · 21/10/2020 16:19

I might be an imposter in this group because I'm not sure if I'm due in June or July but I'm hoping I'm ok to sneak in here!!
I've only just found out so I'm around 4 weeks preg. I have a 3 year old and a 2 year old already - from the chat it seems a lot of 3rd time Mums I'm here!

How are you all feeling? I feel tired and a bit sick already 😭 xx

binkybunny · 21/10/2020 16:23

@Mishmased I'm doing better, still having mild cramps but easier and have felt a bit nauseous again. We were going for a private scan next week but I've just been sent home from work for 14 days to self isolate as my colleague has tested positive!

binkybunny · 21/10/2020 16:26

@Munda I'll be 40 a month after my EDD and this is my third surprise baby. It took us 3 years to conceive our last DD so really didn't think it could happen after just one time DTD in the last 2 months!

Mishmased · 21/10/2020 19:25

@buntingandstarcharts so your dates are close enough anyway. As someone said already you get a more accurate date on your dating scan although mine are always late.
I'm def bloated and showing so looking to bring out the maternity trousers at 8 weeks 😭 in my defense this is baby no. 3 and I'm quite small so any bulge is noticeable!

I got my booking appointment in the post and the next three appointments up to January. Due to covid they are planning ahead which suits me fine. I'm in a new hospital as we moved 300km in 2017 so new team.

How's everyone keeping? Congrats to all the new joiners.x

Garman · 21/10/2020 19:35

Wow @Mishmased you've a lot of appointment info already so! My first appointment won't be until mid December at 12 or so weeks, and then not again for a few months after that I'd say.

Mishmased · 22/10/2020 02:51

@Garman there was loads of info in the pack. The stuff they would have done in hospital like forms etc. Dating scan mid November at 12 weeks, meeting obstetrician at 13 weeks and my appointment will increase after that meeting because I suffer from low platelets and cannot have an epidural during section, so will need to see a consultant anesthetist and hematologist. Hopefully I can may be able to have phone call with anesthetist.

I started nibbling on ginger nut biscuits to help with my nausea. DH seems to be bemused that I'm having all day nausea as I never had anything like this before. Had to stop on the way to work to buy some biscuits as DH and kids ate them all.

binkybunny · 22/10/2020 14:35

Oh wow @Mishmased that is really organised!

I have my booking in appointment on the 5th November which will be done by phone. I will end up having 2 as I am giving birth in a hospital outside of the area where I live so I have community MW care near home and then hospital appointments elsewhere but both require a booking in appointment. It's a bit of a faff as I did the same last time, but the hospital is brilliant so worth it. My only concern is if Covid is still around and we can't travel out of our area. I hadn't thought about it until I saw someone comment on their maternity unit page that she hopes that people coming from where I live won't be allowed to self refer as we have a higher rate of cases.

Mumoftwo84 · 22/10/2020 15:41

Hello everyone, how do I join this discussion? Technophobe over here 🙈
Think I'm only about 4/5 weeks but if all goes well our surprise baby is due in June. I have a three year old & 18 month old already, any other mums who will have or already have three under four to offer some advice to a panic stricken mum?!
