Ambi · 01/10/2007 19:43

oh cazzy that sounds a long time - but really isn't. I started counting at 14 weeks to go - desparate to leave!!! once you get down to single figures it starts to fly by. I keep thinking of one of those sand egg timer things..

cazzybabs · 01/10/2007 19:56

Mind you then I think about lack of salary, lack of sleep and pain of labour....humm maybe work is OK after all!!!!

macdoodle · 01/10/2007 20:23

11 weeks here and counting
Names for my girl - Lily (after my gran) just the second name a problem....Lily Joe, Lily Grace, Lily Rose, Lily Ann????

insywinsyspider · 01/10/2007 20:38

evening - work just got ridiculous so no time to post but on a plus note someone is taking over my job! hurray, makes me feel a little more motivated!

had mw app today as well - 29wks - think I'm a bit behind, it should have been 28 wks, diff mw from the hosp, 'predictied' I was having a girl... everyone feels the need to have a prediction at the moment

can't believe some of you have decided on names - we're struggling! dh isn't too interested in actually reading the name book but likes to veto ones I read out!

9wks till mat leave - 11 till due date - starting to sound much closer! (although does anyone else feel like we should work towards our 42 wk date so we're not disappointed if still pg in the new year...)

Caz10 · 01/10/2007 21:05

Evening all. Suey2 thank you so much for the advice. Have slept with the pillow between my knees for the past few nights now, and it's certainly not getting any worse! Was worried I'd be crippled with it, because it came on so suddenly, but has stayed at the dull ache level most of the time (touch wood).

Although someone else mentioned getting up during the night and being in a terrible state, i am the same! Still quite sprightly during the day, but at 3am I can barely walk to the loo!

Have just counted - 11wks till due date, so 9 till mat leave hooray!!! Although that is still 2 months....

One of these weeks I have half term hols though, so that is one to look forward to!

Lucy I am in Ayrshire! Have you joined the NCT at all? I haven't, but was thinking about it, and apparently their Nov ante-natal class thing will be in East Kilbride for the Glasgow South group - it's about £100 though and I'm not sure if we can stretch to it.

Loucee · 01/10/2007 21:27

Suey2 - glad you are the other side of your chat with your friend, what a pain now you have another staff issue. Does that mean you went to school at the Academy?

Caz10 - we weren't going to go to any classes as this is our 2nd child but if you can afford it I would say go along as my friend did the NCT ones and met lots of nice people that she is still in contact with now (her DS is 5).

Bought a new sling (2nd hand from a MNetter) today, really excited about receiving it as it's the first thing I've bought for this baby. Have advertised some things to raise some funds for my double buggy too - having a clearout feels good!

becklespookle · 02/10/2007 00:43

The names you suggested are lovely Amani but unfortunately most of them are names which close friends or family already have! Grace is lovely but my friend has a rottweiler of the same name! Can't do Bethany as surname starts with B (doesn't sound right). Its soooo hard to find something not 'taken' which is just right! For your little one I like Nael too and also Daniyal.
Cazzybabs - love your names too, you are the first person I have come across who thinks Mary is lovely! Evie great too but a friend's DD has the same name . Was wondering about asking her if she'd mind me stealing it, we have hardly seen each other for years (she is now working at the same place as me) - would you be offended if someone wanted the same name for their DC as you had already used?
Macdoodle, Lily Grace or Lily Rose are the nicest I think, lovely name!
Insy, IKWYM about working towards 42 weeks instead of 40, both my DSs were quite late so I am not expecting this LO to arrive before New Year!

Amani · 02/10/2007 08:09

Morning all!
Hope you all are well!
Beckle - you're having a late night!! Hope you find the right name.
McDoodle - I like Lily Rose too.
Skid - Nael is pronounced 'Nay-eel'and it means 'an achiever'.

DD in her tantrum phase - she is so attached to her Dora trainers she's been insisting on wearing them to bed 3 nights in a row, I usually take them off before I go to bed, but last night she woke up screaming 'Dorrrrrraaaaaaaaa', so I had to put them back on at 2am!

insywinsyspider · 02/10/2007 08:34

amani - lol at your dd and her trainers we've just moved ds out of his growbag in preparation for moving to his cotbed so this lo can have his cot - kind of going ok but now he can stand up we have a little battle getting him down asleep and he's waking up an hour earlier - do you think he'll get used to it?

loucee - which sling did you go for? we have a baby bjorn one from last time but I'm tempted to find one baby can lie in from newborn

beckle - I wouldn't be offended if someone used ds's name (but then it is a very tradional name) especially if you don't see them very often - if its very unusal then they might be more protective as I guess they chose it because it wasn't popular

claraq · 02/10/2007 08:58

Amani at DD and trainers. Think this attachment (or not) to certain clothes is a girl thing. My DD has a pair of manky sandals which we bought for her at the beginning of the summer and she refused to wear a single other pair of shoes for months. And the number of tops I have bought her that sit in the wardrobe totally unworn because for whatever reason (because she can?) she has taken against them....
It is moments like this that I hope for a boy this time round....

suey2 · 02/10/2007 09:01

loucee i did indeed go to strathaven academy- i left for london at the end of fifth year- 1987 (ugh!- i am that old)

Re countdown. I don't know what week to aim for. If i do have GD, they will be unlikely to let me go over 38 weeks, which is in 7 weeks time!

Arrived at off site clinic today without keys to get in- mny staff also did not have keys to get in at the main clinic. the PG brain is really proving to be a bit of a problem!

mixedmama · 02/10/2007 09:10

Morning everyone,

Great to see that we are still talking names.

Skidaddle - What do you think of Noel? I think that is quite nice. do you prefer it to Killian as it may be a good compromise??

Cazzy - i think Mary is pretty but Evie is lovely, not sure what your friend would think but it isnt the end of the world esp if you dont see her that often.

Amani - at DD and Dora. I like Sami (obviously) from your list and Daniyal from DH list, but they are all cool.

Ambi at the door plaque.

Bouncingturtle - hope you are feeling better.

Macdoodle - Lily Grace or Lily Rose are my faves but all nice.

Not much going on with me so just hi everyone.

Amani · 02/10/2007 09:13

Insy - Been thinking about getting a small bed from IKEA for DD too - want her use to it, before LO arrives. She's in her 'stubborn and do things my way' phase at the moment so am hoping it will be a smooth transition!
Claraq - lol at your DD, how old is she? - defo seems like it is a girl thing. Forgot to mention that DD is attached to her pink fluffy winter coat too and no matter how warm the house is - she insists on wearing first thing in the morning (over her PJS and with her Dora trainers - what a sight!)

Right, does anyone know if it is legal or illegal at an interview stage for prospective employers to ask about your pregnancy and maternity leave and how it might affect the job you are applying for? Just worried about going to this interview and getting negative attitude when they seem my bump.

Loucee · 02/10/2007 09:23

Morning

Suey2, I blame my lapses in concentration on pg brain but if i'm truthful I don't think I ever lost the pg brain even after having DD!

Insy - it was a Babybjorn I bought, borrowed one from SIL last time round and DH preferred it to my Coorie Fleece sling (one where baby can lie flat and you can discreetly bf in) so when I saw it FS thought I'd get it as I know DH will love it (and I did find it perfect for when DD wasn't able to sit up properly but got frustrated still lying down in my Coorie).

Amani - at your DD, it's good to know what we all have to come! My DD is really fond of her watering can, not sure if I should be concerned but that's her choice of toy to take to bed with her at the moment

I was sorting through my baby stuff last night and oh my goodness, aren't newborn sleepsuits tiny!! It's only been 19months since we used them but funny how you forget how small they are

Just think, we're now in October so only one more calendar month to pass until the birth stories should start come roling in!

Loucee · 02/10/2007 09:23

*rolling

claraq · 02/10/2007 09:32

Amani - DD has just turned two. It is hilarious what they get attached to! At the moment she has to take all her postman pat figures (two Pats, two cats, Mrs Goggins, Ajay and the man with a moustache) to bed with her every night.

Although (Loucee) at least it's not a watering can!!!Although the other night we only just stopped her taking her pink plastic step (to reach the sink) to bed.

Wizzska · 02/10/2007 09:35

Macdoodle - My niece is Lily May

cazzybabs · 02/10/2007 09:35

becklespookle - I have that trouble with Evie because my 2nd cousin (who we see about once a year if that has already used it)...we had decided so early on with the dds but I feel we have used all the names up already!

dd1 is Isaeblle

and dd2 is Grace

mixedmama · 02/10/2007 09:49

cazzy such pretty classic names.

My DS doesnt seem too attached to anything but has developed an intense addiction to raisans.... as soon as we enter the house he rushes (and i mean runs) to the drawer and gets the raisans, I had to move them. He also has a compulsion to turn on the taps in the bathroom whenever he follows me in there. Doesnt seem to have toys he likes at the moment tho and he refuses to wear his slippers which drives me round the bend. Ahh and another one to look forward to.

becklespookle · 02/10/2007 10:06

Amani, late night due to the fact I was at work until 11 - have to wind down before bed! Have actually asked to cut my hours a bit though - stupid firm have put in more of those self-serve checkouts so now we are not allowed to have normal ones open after 10 . Think it is to make sure the self-serve make their money but in the meantime they have got a handfull of staff standing round for an hour just packing bags! Plus they have to go off for 1/2 hour for end of day and we are only allowed to open 1 small till! The people who make these rules have never worked the job, makes me . Have asked if I could cut 1/2 hour off each shift - even better if they let me cut 3/4 hour as I will still get the same money, just no break! Ahh to go home at 10.15...
Claraq, boys get attached to stuff too! DS2 wanted to sleep in his new trainers when he got them, he wore them for 3 days solid until he went outside in them and then I wouldn't let him wear them inside anymore. He also got attached to a wooly hat at one point too. DS1 is the one who refuses to wear some things though, no idea why he takes a dislike to them!
Thanks for the advice on Evie, I may ask my friend if she would mind if I possibly used it because DH loves it and I think its lovely too. As I said, we are not close close friends and DH doesn't know her at all really. I don't think I would mind someone using one of my DSs names - they are good names!
Cazzy, Isabelle and Grace are lovely names, very very pretty. Its strange though because despite having 2 boys already I have no trouble thinking of boys names I like!

suey2 · 02/10/2007 10:09

11! good god woman you must be knackered!

becklespookle · 02/10/2007 10:10

Shattered on mornings after I have worked!

buzzybee · 02/10/2007 10:15

Morning all. Actually evening here and about to head to bed. Think I'm going to take Harry Potter 7 with me - had been saving for maternity leave but feel I need the pick me up NOW. Actually feel a bit better today which I think is due to being so busy at work I don't have the luxury to dwell on baby stuff. Thanks so much for your kind words.

My DD is Isobel too (so many variant spellings!) which is another form of Elizabeth. We call her Issy. Beckle, have you considered Edie rather than Evie? I have come across a couple in the last 5 years and that is their full name - not Edith .

I think I've settled on Beatrice Amy. I like the Shakespeare connection for Beatrice and it means "giver of joy" or something like that.

Regarding hair - mine was falling out in handfuls before I got PG. Started to do this about 3 months after I stopped the pill - think it was because I had been taking the pill 3 months on the trot as recommended by my Gynie after I had op for Endometreosis 3 years ago. Anyway was getting quite worried as my thick luxuriant hair was rapidly thinning, but miraculously about 10 weeks after getting PG almost all hair loss stopped and now have wild haystack as it grows back!!

OP posts:
becklespookle · 02/10/2007 10:18

Had not considered Edie Buzzy, makes me think of Edie MacCredie from Balamory though! (do you get that in NZ?) Beatrice Amy is beautiful - DH won't agree to Beatrice .
Enjoy Harry Potter 7 (fab book! Am huge HP fan!)
