I got BFP this morning six months to the day after my MC, only 12DPO but so happy. Please pray this one holds on!!!! I am due on June 1 according to OV calendars so have the pleasure of starting this thread.

Anyone else out there or am I the only mental person who tests this early?

hi ladies,

Can I join you? Just did 3 tests and got BFP, but line is quite faint, is that a bad sign? I have a DS who is 1 year old... Think I'm on cycle day 30, usually AF is day 26, so very early days. Wasn't really TTC but just stopped breastfeeding, had one period and hey presto...

good to meet all you other ladies who are PREG as well and share our joys!

systemsaddict · 21/10/2007 15:42

Hi Gemzooks, just nearly replied to this on your other thread and said join us! A line is a line is a line. CD 30 is still v. early, we're a fortunate generation to be able to test this early! Your HCG levels should double every couple of days so if you want some reassurance you could test in a few days' time, but TBH the over-the-counter tests are really only designed to show presence / absence of HCG and you can't really judge much from faintness / strength of line, it could be due to loads of factors - brand of test, concentratedness or otherwise of urine, length of time you held it in the stream etc. So don't worry - and welcome!! I also have ds 1 year and conceived after 1st period so we can give each other advice on dealing with toddler / pregnancy / new baby!

And welcome QueenofBleach too - I am feeling sick a lot of the time but not being sick too - do you think it's better if you're actually sick then?

ChinaSurprise · 21/10/2007 15:58

Hello. Just thought I would join as edd is june 16 but was on the pill so must wait til dating scan to be sure.
Couldn't believe I got pg on the pill! Dh not impressed but is coming around to the idea and am v excited. Have been feel a little sick but regular food seems to stop it. Thirstiness in the morning/ tiredness actually more annoying. What does BFP stand for - know it must be positive test but I can't work it out and it's bugging me
Good luck everyone!

flosspot · 21/10/2007 16:40

Hello all- thanks for thinking of me. Thought I'd update you.....

NHS direct told me to go to A&E so I had to abandon the dog and get a neighbour to take me (they told me not to drive). She was absolutely brilliant- I don't think she stopped talking for two hours....

Anyway after 5 hours in A&E having bloods and seeing lots of SHOs (none of whom were impressed that I had had no monitoring given past history...) they admitted me as a suspected ectopic. Very scary night on the ward- not at all the kind of place that induces sleep...I had a canula and surgical stockings fitted in case they had to rush me to surgery, nil by mouth and a drip...all very Holby City. Anyway finally got a scan at the EPDU on Friday morning....one teeny weeny baby with one teeny weeny heartbeat. I am going back on Friday for another scan. Delighted, relieved, excited, and exhausted.

flosspot · 21/10/2007 16:41

Lazylou- thinking of you (((((hugs)))))

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 21/10/2007 16:51

Lazylou - What a $%£!, not surprised you were angry and you don't exactly need the stress atm! I really hope you manage to sort things out, I'm sure you must both be very stressed after all you've been through! {{{ hugs }}}

Lilypink - hope you get a referal and get seen ASAP, how worrying for you. Please let us know how you get on, hope it's nothing to worry about {{{ hugs }}}

QueenofBleach - Hello So pleased to see another come over from the Oct ttc thread!! We could possibly be due around the same time - not sure yet as cycles were funny, off to the Dr's tomorrow afternoon to see what they can do about an early dating scan due to the situation. I'm the same, feeling sick and not being sick. I sort of know what you mean about it being a pain, sometimes I wonder if I'd feel better if I was actually sick however my BF was VERY sick in pg and don't think it made her better after throwing up iykwim. Have you had the metal mouth?? That's been my most annoying thing so far!

Gemzooks - a line is a line, sure it's just because it's early days. Welcome

ChinaSurprise - wow, hopefully you'll get an early dating scan due to you having been on the pill! Welcome

flosspot - you don't know how pleased I am to hear back from you, sounds a nightmare visit to a&e but how reassuring to see a little heartbeat

QueenofBleach · 21/10/2007 17:18

Looney Sort of metal mouth, and last time found that being sick once stopped the feeling for the rest of the day that and fruit, so have stocked up on orange juice

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 21/10/2007 17:23

Oh.....I remember last time putting my fingers down my throat to try and be sick but it wouldn't happen so just carried on feeling sick. ginger biscuits did help though!

Metal mouth not so bad today - maybe my mind has been put off it due to me campaigning against OFSTED (on behalf of childminders and parents)

QueenofBleach · 21/10/2007 17:28

Good luck with campaign, DD in nursery so will not be able to help sorry.

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 21/10/2007 17:34

Cheers. I've had one parent who used a nursery who wasn't happy so she posted so if ANY of you have thoughts....they're still welcome

debinaustria · 21/10/2007 19:01

Flosspot - so pleased to hear from you, you must be so relieved, I have to admit to sitting here with tears in my eyes now that everything's OK.

Look after yourself and that tiny baby!!

Deb

Har · 21/10/2007 21:03

Flosspot - what fabulous news!!! So happy!

Welcome QoB, Gemzooks and Chinasurprise and congratulations to you all!

Hope everyone else is well and has had a lovely w/e. I'm feeling a bit lonely as dh away for a few days, but have comforted myself by watching all the DVDs I can't watch when he's around . Otherwise I'm just counting the days till my first appointment. Not feeling any symptoms which is a bit scary. Know that all you sick (as in vomit, not depraved ) people will curse me for saying this but would love a bit of feeling really sick so I can feel safer.

josey · 21/10/2007 21:11

Lazylou - what an awful time, not only are you so stressed and worried about your little bean then this comes knocking on your door, I totally understand why you wouldnt want to breath the same air as anyone let alone a DH saying those things to you - I hope things work out well for you, thinking of you and you know we are all always hear for cyber support {{{HUGS}}}

Lilypink - fingers crossed you get seen tomorrow and everything is ok, I really hope it is.

FLosspot its lovely to hear from you glad your home from hospital and you saw your little bean, both of you have lots of rest and grow big x

Queenofbleach and China welcome to the sick and moany club
BFP stands for Big fat positive.

Nothing very exciting going on with me, kids had the avo with granny so myself and dh had a nice chilled out time together, wasnt sick today though felt awful in tesco all the smells were killing me I was walking about with my coat over my nose hope people didnt think I was farting lol! seem to feel really bad around 4pm which I dont like.

OH well tomorrow is another day and I must go and Iron before Im looking at it again and ignoring it

josey · 21/10/2007 21:12

sorry gemzook missed you welcome too

ChinaSurprise · 21/10/2007 22:33

Thanks for the welcome all.
Lazylou - so sorry to hear about your probs, but it does sound like you'll be better off in the long run...
QoB - fruit can make dicky tummy worse, esp OJ - not that easy for your bod to digest - best thing for sickness is plain rice - easy to eat/ digest. Though having said that, I've been chugging Tropicana for a week - can't seem to get enough of it, so I guess whatever works! OJ also quite high in folic acid I discovered when I read the label today.
Flosspot - glad to hear everything aok.
Re ginger biscuits - now I have an excuse to eat them all the time DH doesn't know I'm not eating them for sickness purposes - harhar.

systemsaddict · 22/10/2007 08:23

Great great news flosspot, so glad to hear you and baby are OK!

Good luck today Lilypink, will be thinking of you.

Had horrid weekend really, felt rough and emotionally very wobbly all weekend, like everything's getting on top of me. Dp thinks he is being supportive but I am not convinced - he took ds out for an hour yesterday afternoon 'to give me a break' (slightly at the phrasing, still not sure how this ended up 'my job' when he's both our child and we both work too), then stayed out an extra 2 1/2 hours with his mates as a 'reward' leaving me to do ds bath and bed ... have explained I'm feeling really rough and need TLC but it's not really sinking in. At least he is getting some sympathetic symptoms again so he's suffering too! It's quite funny, he gets a wave of nausea as soon as he comes in the door from work. Poetic justice ...

Better go, it's a work day féor me today. (so that means I'll probably check in later from the office )

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 22/10/2007 08:38

Oh that's terrible, my dh used to be pretty rubbish but now (most weekends) takes ds out for a few hours.....although it is so I can work (catch up with mountains of childminding paperwork, clean the house etc)

Glad he's getting your symptoms though!

I've got the Dr's this afternoon and not quite sure what to say??? I suppose I want the pregnancy confirming and to discuss dates as unsure due to funny cycles. I also want to push for a dating scan, all my family think I should due to the funny cycles and the high chance of twins. I was really pi**ed off last time as due to not being dated via a scan to start with, i missed out on one of the tests they can only do at certain week (can't remember, it's so long ago).

What's the betting they'll tell me to f off and wait my turn like everyone else???!!! I HONESTLY am unsure how far gone I am and really want to know sooner rather than later.

debinaustria · 22/10/2007 09:21

Oh I'm so sick today, I've posted on the pregnancy forum for morning sickness tips but I need lots more ideas to try - anyone?

It gets you down after a while doesn't it? ds aged 5 asked when I was going to start feeling better this morning. I think we'll have to tell the boys soon before they start worrying.

Deb

Har · 22/10/2007 09:48

Hi Looney, no idea how it works I'm afraid but I think if there's any confusion re dates or pain or anything then they prefer to do tests early (potentially saves money in the long term I would guess). Good luck!

Systems - got really reading your posting. Him being the good guy giving you a break. Grrrr. I could go on but I'm sure you're pissed off enough without me ranting as well. Honestly though! Maybe when you get the bump he'll understand a little more that you need lots of looking after. Hope his morning sickness increases though .

Morning Deb, sorry you're feeling so sick . Think you're right about telling the boys though, children worry themselves sick (sorry for the pun, best expression here!) about parents being unwell.

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 22/10/2007 10:12

debinaustria - sorry you're feeling so sick, have you tried those bands mentioned on your thread - I believe they are very good and I will be trying them if I get bad (I'm a childminder with 4 children under 5 yrs old to look after - can't manage that if really sick!)

Har - thanks, hopefully they will. I'm just so unsure and I was really upset last time that the dates were wrong and I missed out on tests! Will let you know what they say! I know what you mean about a bump maybe making a difference - sometimes I think dh thinks I'm maoning just because I've had the BFP and that it's all a coincidence and I'm doing it for attention! All because I don't have a bump yet! Us women know that you usually feel worse whilst it's not obvious and then when it is, you feel better!!!

debinaustria · 22/10/2007 11:11

Thanks Har and Looney - I am now wearing the sickness bands - I think the pain in the wrist must take your mind off the sickness!! Also sipping fizzy water which I don't really like but I read somewhere that it helps.

Looney - I hope that you don't feel like this with your job. When I was in the UK I was a Nursery teacher but I was never this sick and never so early on, but at least there was also a Nursery Nurse with me so if I had to dash it was OK. You have my sympathies but I'll try out all the methods and if you start with it I will pass on all my knowledge!

Is it right that having twins and girls can make you more sick?

Deb

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 22/10/2007 11:28

Thanks, that would be very useful to know how you get on, just in case! I'm not sure about twins and girls tbh, I'll ask my mum how she was with the twins (runs heavily in my family - GULP) but I wouldn't read too much into it as my BF was terribly sick throughout most of her pregnancy, very poorly poor thing (she'd waited sooooo long to get pregnant and then this) - she had ONE BOY.

Hope you feel better soon xxx

Har · 22/10/2007 11:37

Hi Deb, lol about the pain in your wrists (, that sounded cruel, you know what I mean!) I have terrible travel sickness so feel for you so much, it's such a horrible horrible thing. Sadly my huge experience there can't help as travel sickness is very different (remedies involve Stugeron, having my head hanging out of the window for fresh air, desperately trying not to look at any passing MacDonald signs and crying to myself). The bands never really helped me but it seems a lot of people swear by them so hopefully they'll start working on you soon. Definitely try and avoid anything with a strong smell (air freshener, strong perfumes etc always make me feel double as bad).
Don't know the twins/ girls thing. Two good friends of mine had hardly any nausea, one got a girl, one a boy. Another friend was so sick (and showed quite early) that everyone was convinced it was twins but it turned out to be just one at the 12 week scan. But maybe on a broader scale it does turn out to be true. Imagine - twin girls!!!

Now can anyone please help, posted a thread on pregnancy about essential oils but seems to be talking to myself there so thought I'd check with you guys. Thought the concern was just with essential oils being rubbed into tummy but worried that it's also products containing those oils (like face washes, moisturisers etc). Have sensitive skin so use a lot of more natural (though still mainstream) brands and also thought good to avoid too many chemicals on skin when pregnant. Now I see that rose and lavender are on the hit list. My Palmolive shower gel I've been using every day for months has rose essential oil in (rose shouldn't be used for first four months) and a face spray has lavender in. Now I'm really worried, particularly about the body wash. Can anyone give me some advise? Thank you!

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 22/10/2007 11:48

Off to have a look - I used to work as a Virgin Vie rep and from what I remember - it's ANYTHING with these things in, not just things on your tummy!

Har · 22/10/2007 11:52

Oh thank you Looney, as I said it's 'proper' brands not health shop ones I've been using. Please don't come up with anything too scary though as have been using the body wash etc throughout...
