Maternity services to ease restrictions

Can we expect maternity services resuming back to (somehow) normal soon?

Some European countries such as France are starting to denounced the negative impacts of Covid-19 practices in maternity services during birth such as women's right abuse and increase in post natal depression.

The UK government is slowly implementing an ease of the lockdown with group gathering enabled, industries repointing... Yet I can't find anything on maternity services easing current restrictions.

Do you see those restrictions being eased in the coming weeks?

I’d like to think so but I’ve seen nothing to suggest so. I’ve 7 weeks til my due date and I keep hoping.

I am not due until 4th November but am already preparing myself for restrictions to be in place when I give birth. It doesn't seem like things are going to get back to normal for a very long time :(

Thanks for your reply. I am myself due in 7 weeks and don't believe that much will have change by then!

I think the lack of groups for mums and babies is going to have a very negative effect on maternal mental health. I don't think zoom groups are much help at this stage.

For me it's the practical side of things. My husband will stay home with our son. But then isn't allowed to come to hospital with our son to help with car seat. And I'm not allowed to take baby out in carrier. Seems like a no go to me! I'm due in 3 weeks but I still have hope that things will at least be relaxed enough to solve this situation!

Is there any hospital in the UK that have started to allow partner back? I am seeing my midwife today and hoping to get more info on what to expect.
