right thats it i've officially had enough and want to hide in a hole somewhere!!

as you all know i've been having a bit of a bad time the last few days what with work illness and the car- it seems that these things are never ending!

I've just been to the garage to finally pick the car up- its not right, still not starting the guys there have done everything they possibly can (and they really have bless 'em) so i've just waved it off on the back of a truck on its way to chrysler to be pronounced a lemon!! leaving me without a car until they have made a decision on what to do!

I have just blubbed at the garage man again and i do feel for him as its not his fault but i cry at the slightest thing atm!!

e14mum · 29/09/2007 17:30

Argh... have just gotten home from a "quick" trip to Oxford St. Why do I go there on Saturdays??? Almost threw a Quinny Buzz at some lady who was trying to manoever her pushchair down a v. narrow aisle at Mothercare. DH dragged me off for a drink at that point. Good ol' DH.

Still no idea what pram to buy- I sure know what I DON'T like though! And, more importantly for DH, we've almost decided on a new chair for the lounge. So trip not entirely wasted.

Preggers, UTIs are AWFUL. You get my sympathy! Hope the pills are doing their job. Sorry to everyone else who isn't well/having rough days and nights.

has anyone heard from modsaluk about how her scan went on thursday? had a quick look through but couldnt see any posts from her. hope everythings ok.

imjin100 · 29/09/2007 19:36

Thursday, 1950 Mods left a message and all is well.

HOpe everyone feeling a bit happier - personally despite it being a lovely weekend I feel in a foul mood - hormones are raging and I keep dropping things -including a shopping bag - which included a carton of soup, and yes, it split and filled everything - totally revolting and not amused. Managed not to cry but didn't find the funny side.

Ho hum....on we go!

Love to all. I'm off for a few days so look forward to catching up in a week or so.

waiting4bambino · 30/09/2007 12:36

Hi all, havent been on for months so you may not remember me!! Basically had such bad MS all day that couldnt bring myself to do anything! Anyway, been catching up on the thread (took ages!) and recognise a few names but not many!!

So congrats to everyone for getting this far, for some, easier than others!!

Anyway, a bit about me, this is my 1st baby (and i'm thinking the only baby!! at this stage!!) and I'm 29 next month... I'm due on 1st March, and got my 20 week scan coming up not next week but the week after which I can't wait for!! Havent felt any movement that i know of, although dh says that he can hear heartbeat thru my belly! The only symptoms I have at the moment are neverending spots!! and peeing all the time, plus, my little thongs have deserted me and i have had to resort to big pants! Relishing the comfort though!

Anyway - was really interested to read that FitnForty lives near me!

Hi FitnForty , just wanted to ask if you were going to the Gwent for your birth or Nevill Hall and if you'd had any experience of these hospitals before etc? Is it your 1st? I'm planning on going to NH as I hear they've got a new birthing centre there that's supposed to be great! Also, i just wondered how your midwife care was going? I've only seen mine once at 7wks and i'm not seeing her until after the 20wk scan, and I just kind of feel abandoned!! I think for some people having their first, then you need more contact than that to ask questions and allay your fears etc! I know there's the internet but sometimes you can know too much! And then its scary! Well, I would love to hear from you to compare notes!

Have a great weekend everyone and good luck for all those upcoming scans...

PurlyQueen · 30/09/2007 18:37

Hello - hope you are all having good weekends. I'm at work today but I'm off for nearly three weeks from Thursday and I cannot wait!

I was feeling rather morose about my weight gain. According to the scales at the work gym I would have put on 5kg since I was last weighed in early September.

The smile returned to my face when I stepped on both my own scales and the ones at my local gym. Both showed a far more respectable gain of 1kg.

It's sad (and funny) how the numbers on the bathroom scales can have such an effect on my mood.

fitnforty · 30/09/2007 21:00

Ooh, just been away for the weekend in Swansea...made the mistake of walking from the hotel into the town centre and back again (while failing miserably to buy anything!) and have now got horrendous backache. Interested to see the previous post that it might be a UTI, how do you tell the difference between normal backache and that?!
Had a nice bath last night and it was certainly better today, but don't think the hotel bed helped at all as I didn't have my normal pillows to prop up various bits of me! Going away for a week next weekend and am taking everything with me bar the kitchen sink to make sure I'm not too uncomfy
Mind you, starting to get a few odd pains above the pubic bone area, hope I don't get SPD!

Think the baby is moving round all over the place - have heard the heartbeat for about 5 secs on the doppler I got, but the little bugger keeps moving away so I can't find it again! Never quite sure if the movement I'm feeling is the baby or wind or just a really strong pulse down there - maybe a combination of all 3

Waiting4B, am not planning to go anywhere near the GWent if I can help it, their MRSA rates are horrendous from what I've heard and they regularly have only 1 or 2 m/ws on duty on the post-natal wards. Am hoping to have a home birth, but next choice would be caerphilly birth centre (free parking!) as that's m/w led with plenty of birthing pools etc. 'Fraid i'm too into the holistic approach to want to go near the big hospitals unless it's absolutely necessary!

glammama · 30/09/2007 23:41

Hello, I'm swapping providers and Bt are being complete idiots so I won't have any tinternet for a while . I'll try and fit in as many visits to tinternet cafes as possible but don't be too prolific ladies! Looking forward(nervously) to meeting some of you on Saturday.
Hope your Mondays are not too bad.
Susie
(as I feel like coming out!)

PS Wish me luck that my wedding dress I'm selling on ebay will fetch enough to help pay for my divorce! Should have divorced him years ago but the fact he was out of my life as a partner was enough to keep me happy. However, baby coming changed all that. Really don't want to still be married to my exh by the time I push this one out. (Must go, I'm on the school run in the morning, sweet dreams all.

turtle23 · 01/10/2007 07:30

Good luck, Susie!
Am feeling v pleased with myself that I'm up and starting my day as I don't work Mondays!!
Wishing you all a fantastic week. Gosh, cake meet is this Saturday, isn't it?! Since we'll all be meeting in a few days I'll do the name thing too.
xx

Morning all and hello to Sarah! You are good, getting up so early.
BT in another incidence of staggering incompetence, have not cut my line completely. Which I am glad about but it may go off anytime.
Just wanted to mention that in case anyone took my name seriously, the nickname Glammama is supposed to be ironic ,as will be painfully clear come Saturday

Anyone else felt knitting needle type pain shooting up the groin area? Had it with DD but for some reason had blanked it out!! Nice, isn't it?

Enjoy your day,
Susie

merryberry · 01/10/2007 09:15

hiya, happy mondays.

i'm franky, with a y not short for anything x

merryberry · 01/10/2007 09:19

knitting needle pain = round ligament stretching?

MarchMum · 01/10/2007 10:11

I have the knitting needles - I alternate bt thinking they are gas, stretching and baby pinching me bc I've eaten something bad. I hope it's the first two :.)

MarchMum · 01/10/2007 10:36

PS - Added rough count post on meeting up thread, please check here

PPS Like this coming out thing - I am Simi and I am Canadian - think there are few others on here too...?

e14mum · 01/10/2007 10:44

Like me! Where are you from Simi? I'm Elie and I grew up in Ontario.

MarchMum · 01/10/2007 10:51

:.)

From Sask, went to Uni in Ottawa and my parents now live in Victoria.

Brazilianmum · 01/10/2007 11:18

Hello all, can't wait for the meet up on Saturday. I'm Daniela and I grew up in Brazil.

I felt the needle pain thing on Saturday and had to take a deep breath. Although it was painful I though at least I felt something. No butterflies for me yet though, how about other first timers, feeling anything?

Went shopping on Saturday and found mat trousers in New Look for £18 (bargain) also bought a couple of tops. Is anyone else enjoying the legging fashion, it's so comfortable for the bump. My friend lent me some mat jeans and a mat denin skirt so hopefully I'm all set as I don't want to spend too much money on clothes. Saving all our money for baby. Just sent off a cheque for ante natal classes (£160), so it seems it's all spend spend spend. And I'm only 18 weeks.

While on shopping trip on Saturday this lady sat next to me in a cafe and she pushing a quinny Zapp. She unstrapped a baby of about 12 months from the seat and tried to pick him up, but every time she lifted him the buggie tipped back. So I had to hold the buggie handles for her while she got the baby out. I asked her about the Quinny as we were considering buying it and she said she is freightened the thing is going to tip over with the baby in it and it was her DH who bought it and brought it home as a surprise gift. So it's back to the drawing board for me on the pram debate.

MarchMum · 01/10/2007 11:42

Speaking of classes are people signing up? We're doing NCT/Feb weekend in Fulham.

Brazilianmum · 01/10/2007 11:52

We are doing Bumptobubba in Greenwich in January. Does anyone know if the NHS offers free classes or if you just get the hospital tour and basic instructions.

e14mum · 01/10/2007 12:08

Hoping to do NCT in Feb in Tower Hamlets, although registration not available yet.

I got a leaflet from mw with the courses offered at my hospital, assume they are free? Maybe check with them?

Simi, I was born in Victoria, grew up in Peterborough and went to uni in Guelph.

Prisci · 01/10/2007 12:15

Hi everyone,

Feel so much better...I guess i just needed some home comfort. I love the contrast of advice during pregnancy when I am in the UK and France(I am french).
This weekend I kept being told things like: What you are not eating any camember and you really want your steak well cooked, and what you don't eat smoke salmon or pate at the moment...it is like people think I have gone crazy...the baffled look on people face is so funny. Well I tried to look at it that way instead of wanted to bite their heads off....hormones...

I also,still don't have a bump either...I can't wait also...

Marchmum, there are quite a few good shops in Paris. The first stop I would recommend is the Gallery Lafayette, it is cliche but you have all the main brands etc...also if you like Petit Bateau, buy it in france as it is about 30% cheaper to the uk, the second stop you should try is Monoprix, it is a supermarket chain but they have some suprisingly great stuff and good value..if you want to go more chichi, there are a few small shop in Le Marais, you just need to get lost and you will find them.
For you, look out for Valerie Delaunaix, in the Galerie Lafayette she has a few cool dresses in the collection etc....

But if you are in Paris, just relax....it is one of the best place for it

A great week to everyone...

Prisci

PS: Very very sorry I will not be able to join on Saturday

merryberry · 01/10/2007 12:20

big sigh of relief: got my intergrated test result in a letter today, is just 1 in 6100, very pleased with that at 39 years of age.

timmyinatizzy · 01/10/2007 12:47

Can't meet up for cake on Saturday, don't you all know its the football season??? Now if there was a midweek after work then maybe I could make it, but nevermind. I hope everyone has a lovely time. Maybe when the babies are here we'll be able to meet up, especially during the summer months.

I've been booked on some courses by the midwife when I had my initial booking. Three consecutive Mondays during the afternoon in January. Not too sure about going to any others, not sure I can justify the cost (when I'm actually an ex nursery nurse and used to work in a baby unit in a nursery anyway) and the time. I would however like to look into the pregnancy yoga that someone linked to this thread last week.

And if we're in a coming out stage my name is Lisa.

ClaphamLauren · 01/10/2007 12:50

That's great news Merryberry!

Gosh this thread moves so fast I can barely keep up. Had quite intense stomach pain today and over the weekend, going from a dull ache to sharp stabbing pain, hoping it is normal but if it doesn't go away will call the midwife. I really worry that they'll just think I'm a hypochondriac though and laugh at me!

I haven't even thought about classes yet, not even really sure what they cover! Will have to do some research into that. I seem to have popped over the last week or so and I'm starting to look visibly pregnant, getting a seat on the tube everytime I use it without having to ask! Hurrah!

turtle23 · 01/10/2007 12:52

Very pleased that the chicken and bacon pizza I'm demolishing has full amount of protein needed for the day!
I'm not Canadian but my parents have lived in Vancouver for many years!
Does anyone else have a bump that appears and disappears? There are times of day where I almost have a flat stomach, then I turn around and see a bump again...(Is that just cake?!)
