Bouncingturtle - if i saw a heavily preg woman using the P&C spaces i would think it completely acceptable... you should do it.

Housemum · 21/09/2007 18:23

Some supermarkets call them, "Parent, Child and Mother-to-Be" spaces - Safeway/Morrisons I think. And if you register with the Tesco Baby Club you get a permit to shove in your windscreen. If you had a neat petite 4-months-gone bumplet and I had a kid or 2 in car seats in tow I'd be a bit hacked off, but a reasonable size bump and/or crutches and I'd have no problem with that at all!

Have you asked your GP about a temporary dsability badge? I'm sure someone once said they could be issued with a finite date on, so you'd have one valid until after the birth when (hopefully) you should be recovering?

My friend in America had SPD last time but her DD is 9 months old now and she's back running now, has been fully mobile for ages, so there is light on the horizon!

insywinsyspider · 21/09/2007 20:30

hello all - been busy on here today, I love my fridays with ds, we went to see some of dh's family and had a lovely time playing in their garden, he was exhausted when we got home, I also tried to get him his first pair of proper shoes today £40!!! why are they so expensive? decide to put it off for a little bit as his feet haven't grown for 5 weeks

skiddale - love idea for feeding bag, need to get organised (hmm keep saying that about everything!) and that book looks great, I'm going to pick up a copy tomorrow

hi to everyone else, hope you're all getting plently of time to put your feet up today x

Housemum · 21/09/2007 20:56

Bouncingturtle - not everyone's that bad on London Transport! Think it must be the morning commuter trains that are hell - I go up a lot with DD2 in the daytimes, sometimes coming back at rush hour but usually get a seat - and when I used to take the buggy was almost always offered help.

We have made many journeys recently on the Northern Line!

Off to somewhere in Camber Sands on Sunday for more photos!

thelady · 22/09/2007 16:16

The best laid plans of mice and all that....

Was going to spend the evening cleaning pram and moses basket. Waitress has just phoned in sick (same cold as me and the rest of town, but throwing up too) so I'm on duty from 5pm.

Bugger!

Do tell what you're all doing with your weekends to cheer me up????

Bouncingturtle · 22/09/2007 16:57

Well i'm in Essex visiting DM - no problem with transport in London, I think yoiu are right about it beeing mainly the week commuters who are problematic, Housemum! Good idea about the Tesco baby club - I thought I had joined htem, but I haven't had anything from them! I'll check when I get home.
Thelady - sorry to hear of your work woes, must be very frustrating when that happens!
Well hope everyone has a good weekend!

Lizzer · 22/09/2007 17:23

Oh what a shame thelady, I hope the night goes quickly and without a hitch and you make a mint

I'm waiting for dp to get back from 'the house' (ie our new one) I've been there today and the plaster is drying nicely on the walls of the top floor. We're off to the dreaded Ikea tomorrow for furniture for dd's new room - the only criteria being cheap-as-chips. can't wait to start painting next week - I really feel the need to do something other than point at things and tell dp to tell the electrician that we need to move light switches!

A night of good food ahead methinks, and lots of it. Have lots of chocolate and ground almonds left over from a wedding cake I made so I'm going to use them up (once I get off mn and find a recipe) Any ideas anyone?

Forgot about the tesco baby club too, fancy joining but can't abide the junk mail they send you with 'offers' you really don't want

thelady · 22/09/2007 18:23

Well, the good thing is we have two couples who've booked Dinner, B&B, so at least I know I'm going to have some customers . It's no fun sitting here for hours on the off-chance that someone want's a bite....

Anyone else having a hormone surge at the moment? I'm finding the littlest frustrations set me howling

thelady · 22/09/2007 18:26

Ooooooops. Wayward apostrophe there - my apologies!

Housemum · 22/09/2007 20:05

Hello The Lady! Hope youre evening is busy enough to keep you occupied but not so busy you're stressed!

Am knackered after sorting through boxes of baby clothes - wanted to see what we still had and what was unisex - have now got a basket full of 0-3 month sized clothes to wash - I'll do that next week when DH takes DD2 away for a few days and I have some time to myself (DD1 pretty much looks after herself - I'm just her taxi and trash-TV-watching partner!)

Have thoroughly hoovered our spare room in the loft (where the boxes were) and am working my way downstairs gradually (much to DH's annoyance, he is sensible and thinks I should be working from the "public" areas that people see when they visit and up - that is very sensible but then it would have been ages before I reached the cute baby stuff!) Just tackling the dust-bunnies under our bed.

Off to Kent tomorrow - photoshoot for Mini Boden, going with the in-laws as it's not until 2.30 so will find a nice pub and have a family Sunday lunch then DD2 and I will go off to have the photos done while DH and his parents revisit the places they used to go on hols!

Going to do the ironing now and watch X Factor (still have last week's to watch on the Sky+ too)

MotherofZ · 22/09/2007 22:04

Evening all - jus poping into see how you all are doing. Not been up to much - following Housemum's fotsteps and got the housework done today and the usual food shopping. Tomorrow will be coking a few dishes to freeze and then eat during the week - makes life so much easier when you are working and stops the take-away food temptation.

Feeling loads of strong kicks today which has really out my mind to rest after my previous fall.

Had a family gathering on Friday night and everybody predicted that I'm going to have a bump as it is so low....!! we shall see...!!!

cazzybabs · 22/09/2007 22:20

MotherofZ - did you mean everyone predicted you are going to have a bump? I have a bump already or do they mean you are getting clumsy because you are carrying low or do you mean boy???

Housemum · 23/09/2007 00:24

I've been told it must be a boy because I'm carrying high? Do explain what your prediction was!

suey2 · 23/09/2007 19:00

lizzer- no contest- flourless chocolate cake. yum!

OP posts:
Bouncingturtle · 23/09/2007 20:52

Housemum - I've been told that I'm having a girl because I'm carrying out front.... but I've also been told I'm having a boy for precisely the same reason My response to people who now ask me when I'm going to find the sex out is "When it comes out"

insywinsyspider · 23/09/2007 21:03

I've been told that because bump lower so 'must' be girl, diff pg symptoms 'must' be girl... but then also told every pg is different

hope you all had good weekend, dh was redoing our flat roof so just me n ds off playing - lovely but exhausting, could do without work tomorrow!

cazzybabs · 23/09/2007 21:40

I carried dd2 differently and felt different and had less m/s - I was convinced she was a boy! So I don't think you can tell!

mixedmama · 24/09/2007 07:32

Morning,

Yep all a load of rubbish. Everyone was intent on the fact that I would be having a girl, different cravings, carrying etc, even the online test at one point gave me a 100% chance of a girl but, I have seen the penis and the scrotum on the scan. you just gotta switch off and let people have their moment.

MotherofZ · 24/09/2007 07:57

Morning all,
Well done cazzy for spotting the delibrate error meant boy.
Think I was a bit fed up when I was typing that my family said because the bump is low it meant I was having a boy, but obviously low could mean girl aswell!! Oh well, that clears things up!!!

insywinsyspider · 24/09/2007 08:20

morning

talking of people commenting...anyone got a massive bump? bloke in shop told me I was having a big baby but honestly when I lie down bump shinks, MIL say I looked 'huge' when I flippantly said its because my stomach muscles had given up she quite seriously said I should really be doing sit ups then in a 'don't let yourself go' kind of way - was just ignoring it but its really bugging me today, up twice with ds last night so feeling rubbish, could be surfing here a lot today!!

x

mixedmama · 24/09/2007 08:26

insy - people just dont realise the things they say. the day I gave birth to DS my bro came to the hosp and said "oh you still look pregnant". DH has also commented saying "are you going to lose some wieght after this one". nearly knocked him out.

I know how you feel about getting no sleep tho, altho DS is being very good and not waking up I am waking up myself and it drives me round the bend as i then cant get back to sleep as DH is snoring and then I get angry about the snoring, which in turn stops me sleeping.

MotherofZ · 24/09/2007 08:32

lol at the snoring - my DH has started doing that aswell. A few pokes usually stops him though!

mixedmama · 24/09/2007 08:35

It drives me round the bend as he just doenst stop, no matter how much I kick or prod him, but I get so angry about it cos I know I wont be able to get back to sleep and he comes all the way over to my side and I need the space right now so he is actually snoring in my face or my ear.

MotherofZ · 24/09/2007 08:45

lol your husband sounds exactly like mine! We should send them off to one of those special courses that claim they can 'cure' snoring in a day!!

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 24/09/2007 08:48

insy
