So I'm finally experiencing that hit by a bus feeling that some of you have been talking about... How on earth do you carry on with work?! All I can think about is how tired, achy and queasy I feel!!

Jasminex1 · 21/04/2020 11:31

Got my positive result on Friday! I've been told you can't get a false positive but I wondered if it's worth getting more tests to double check? I'm over a week late now and used clearblue so I'm pretty sure it's correct but don't know if it's better to do a couple?x

kal515 · 22/04/2020 10:14

ALRM · 25/04/2020 08:21

Hi all, tentatively joining. I'm 5 weeks, due on boxing day! This will be my 2nd. My DD will be 22 months by then. I'll join the FB group too

nervousnelly8 · 25/04/2020 23:06

Hi everyone. I'm due #2 on 10 December, DS will be 21 months. You are all very organised on a Facebook group already! Hope everyone is feeling well and managing to see a silver lining in this lockdown (mine is that, unlike last time, I'm not spending every day puking in the office toilets!!)

kasiapoplawska1 · 26/04/2020 21:18

Hi ladies!
Anyone already showing? I feel like I'm huge already 🙈 I'm due 2nd Dec with baby no 1 😊

NoNameIdeas · 26/04/2020 21:28

@kasiapoplawska1 haven't been brave enough to take any photos yet but feel enormous already! Baby 2 for me...I'm blaming lockdown and 24/7 nausea!

Hope everyone is keeping well? I had my first midwife appointment last week so now have my new notes to carry round! X

gamerprego · 29/04/2020 18:56

Hi I'm due in December too Smile

gamerprego · 29/04/2020 18:58

@kal515
My due date is exactly same as yours!

LizLioness · 30/04/2020 12:39

Hi, my first post here! I'm Liz, live in south east Wales, due on 10th Dec (although my March period was strangely short so it could be Nov really!), first baby and I'm 30.

It's all been a bit rubbish so far: due to coronavirus the midwife isn't seeing anyone in person until 25 weeks, it's all phone appointments, I was passed around to organise that (rang GP who told me to ring midwife directly who told me to ring GP then the midwife left me a booking pack at the GP who couldn't find it when I went to pick it up..), eventually I got my booking appointment done over the phone and had the letter through for my first scan on 1st June so it all seems like a really long wait and I guess it feels not really real yet. When's everyone else's scan?

I've been struggling with fatigue and nausea but no far not actually been sick which is a bonus!

Seen the fb group - can your friends on fb see that you've joined it? If so I won't join until we're telling people!

ZOCO84 · 11/05/2020 18:30

Hi,

I am a nervous wreck, 35 and had a mmc last august i thought 11 weeks went for scan but baby had passed at 8 weeks. Had an operation and now pregnant again, which is amazing but emotions everywhere, so scared of going for the scan and being told the same but on my own as our hospital won't let partners in the scans! Not sure how far i am as cycle all over the place and got the positive on 30th MArch and just cant work the date out! Hope your all.ok ladies xx

ZOCO84 · 15/05/2020 21:23

Hi is this group not used anymore?

LizLioness · 15/05/2020 21:51

I'm still here, I get an email when someone new posts! There was talk further up of a fb group but as your friends can see you've joined that, there's no way I am until we're telling people!

Hi :) I hope this one sticks for you! I hadn't heard of MMC before, it sounds awful, I'm so sorry you had to go through that!

My scan will be in Abergavenny and unlike in England (I have a friend in Oxfordshire who's a bit further along) where the partner isn't allowed to go, we haven't been told he isn't allowed to go, so he's coming with me! I guess the worst that will happen is he'll get turned away at the door but I assume they would have said something already.. fingers crossed! When is your scan? Mine's on 1st June, which should be 12 weeks but my March period was unusually short so I guess I could be ahead of that.

ZOCO84 · 15/05/2020 22:00

It wasn't great, but we got through it, my NHS scan is the 28th of may, but i got so overwhelmed when i spoke to midwife on the phone when she said scan on my own we had a private one today and everything was fine eeekkkkk
9w5 heard heart beat and had my partner holding my hand! I really hope you partner is there for you as such a special happy time even more with the virus!! This is my 3rd baby, my biggest was 12 today jensen and i have Hunter he is 5!

LizLioness · 15/05/2020 22:19

Yay that's great news, I'm really happy for you! Does it get any easier when you have more babies? This is my first!

ZOCO84 · 15/05/2020 22:29

Congrats on your first!! So so special, it gets easier to give birth, but the first 3 months gets harder well i feel a lot worse with this one, with the boys hardly anything! How are you feeling x

Penguin92 · 19/05/2020 12:45

@meerkatmummy can anyone else see members of the FB group? Nervous of others finding out before I officially announce the news!!

@Penguin92 the Facebook group is completely private so no one will see if you have joined. I think that's why this thread has went dead, everyone moved over to the Facebook group. x

Penguin92 · 22/05/2020 10:28

@Wosie26 thank you

ZOCO84 · 22/05/2020 11:10

Awkes · 03/06/2020 22:30

Hi I’m new 👋
Due December 1st with my first baby and completely stressed with my whole experience. Can anyone tell me what’s normal?
Had my booking appt on the phone (all fine) and then dating scan and screening tests all done same day. At no point did any midwife give me more than a minutes attention and I was just really overwhelmed and not sure what I was supposed to be doing. At the end of the appt they gave me my notes which also included a letter for my 20 week scan but no further info. Wasn’t given a named midwife or any info on 16 week scan and in a haze I just assumed it was all in hand and I would get a call. So today I get a call with my screening results because I’ve tested high for hcg they’ve offered me an amnio (whole other drama) After chatting with my partner and calming down I ring back to refuse and figure I’ll ask about my 16 week. The woman completely blanks me and says to talk to “my midwife” so I say I have no idea who that is and she goes on the computer and says I’ve not been listed with one and then tells me to call another line. Called the number and eventually get through to someone who says I fall under an area team but no name and makes an appt for me. So I asked if I should of been making the appts like is it my mistake and she just says “well I’ve made this one for you” and anything else I need can be discussed at my 16 week appt and that’s it.
Am I crazy? I just feel completely lost in the system and no one will stop and tell me what I’m supposed to be doing or who to talk to. Trying to be understanding as Covid has everything messed up but I’m just desperate for someone to give me some advice on what to expect.

Thanks ladies 🙏🏻

Penguin92 · 04/06/2020 09:16

Hi @Awkes, so sorry to hear you’re feeling so unsupported but hope I can help. I’m also having my first but luckily do know the steps you can expect!

I’ve also found the whole of the NHS is understandably overworked right now so I’ve also felt it’s affected my care in a very minor way so knowing what to expect is super important right now.

So 16 weeks is actually just a check up with the midwife and not a scan. Your next scan will be 20 weeks. Every area is different but my midwife has said to call them after 12 week scan to book in 16 week appointment - your midwife should have told you this.

All this info should be in your notes, unless it’s different in your area. Attaching a photo of my notes showing the routine appointments etc. Again not trusts are the same so it might be different for you.

I don’t think it’s normal to not have a named midwife, but I don’t know that for sure. I would maybe see if your notes have an advice line you can call and hopefully you’ll get through to someone more helpful and friendly than the person that you spoke to last time!

Hope this helps and best of luck with it!

Thanks for replying! Posted in another group also and had a reply so nice to hear from 2 people that it’s not me being insane. Having no actual contact with a midwife I’ve just been left not really sure what I’m supposed to be doing so had no idea it was up to me to make a 16 week appt. I’ve got one now so hopefully can hash it all out there. I’ve ended up booking a couple extra scans private so my OH can come and also get a bit more focused care when paying.
Hope alls well with you! Thanks again!
