We have the the Nursery set and Travel system, just haven't put it together yet, going to wait until mid April.
Then once that's done, I plan on sorting out hospital bag and nappies etc! scary how quick it's going though!

newbyxx · 08/03/2020 02:58

Was having Braxton hicks a lot last night very
Close to phoning my maternity triage as hadn't felt baby since lunchtime either, managed to get a few faint movements by playing some music before bed. Braxton Hicks have settled but it's sent me into worry mode again and now I've been up since 2am, trying to focus on movements... none atm he's probs asleep. This will be me up all night now. Ahh the worry!

@Zoey92 how rude of them! Take no notice.

@Amymaria2 I had wondered if your were OK as you were so quiet. I had a week last week where all I did was worry about everything. I had lots of non-pregnancy stress things going on too. Try to rationalise it in your head. If baby is big, they can do something. If you have GD, you can do things to help it. Coronavirus - keep good hygiene, eat well and stay fit and healthy and IF on the very small chance you do get it, you'll be fine. I understand your anxiety. I was exactly the same a week or so ago.

@magpiefeather we decorated the baby's room around Christmas but that was more because it was absolutely desperate for some attention and we were doing the study, too. Meant we also had time to spread the cost of getting new carpets and a bespoke blind fitted too. Already had a wardrobe and bookcase in there that we're keeping and my sister has given me the family crib she used for her babies but still need to buy other furniture. Have quite a lot of other bits, though. There's still time and what you don't have but do need will soon become apparent when baby is here and that's what Amazon Prime is for!

@smiffette thank you. It really does feel better to have a reason for the bleeding now. I won't panic so much if it does happen again! Also, glad to hear you didn't get the GTT phone call 😊

@newbyxx maybe baby is having a bit of a growth spurt so it's a lot quieter. Did you get some sleep? How are the movements now? Phone your midwife if you're still not happy.

Happy Sunday everyone x

Morning x

AmyMaria2 · 08/03/2020 09:49

Thanks @APD1981 just one of those weeks I think, I will feel better when gtt test out the way and I've seen consultant again to measure bump and see if baby's slowed down at all! They're both this week. Going baby room shopping this morning so that will be nice. Hope you're doing well, we really don't have that long left 🥰 x

@newbyxx hope you feel more this morning! X

APD1981 · 08/03/2020 10:00

@Amymaria2 ah you have a big week coming up! I was convinced I'd be diagnosed with GD but I wasn't. But if I had have been then I'm sure I'd have just got on with it, because I have to. You'll be the same. And the good thing is that you're being monitored for growth which means you might get extra scans and they're onto it so can act if necessary. Enjoy the shopping! It's so exciting, isn't it?! X

Hi ladies, just been doing some reading up about the Covid-19 risk in pregnancy, I came across this study published recently in the lancet. Although it's a very small study the results are positive and at this time they do not think the virus can pass between mum and baby and doesn't appear to pose any significant risks

Evening All
I'm with you on the anxiety front. I had a busy day yesterday and in turn felt very little movement. The previous days I had begun to record the movement of which there was lots. So yesterday evening I began to worry. After no movement even when Id tried everything, I call the midwife and went to hospital. Whilst waiting about 20mins Bambino began to kick gently in reception. Mortified. But I went ahwad and had the check. Heartbeat was fine and she set my mind at ease.
Id woken up on my back the night before and worried that caused it, having read this somewhere. The midwife confirmes that the reason we have to lay on our side is for us not the baby. It doesn't harm the baby.
Im 26+4 and she said that between 26 & 28 weeks they have a peak in women coming in reporting lack of movement. Plus Bambino had moved horizontal so obvs Id not get the same movement.
Hoping this is them preparing for the head first. Most of the movement is now around my belly button. Bambino is quite active this evening. After dinner.

Has anyone felt movement like a machine gun? Only had it a few times but its strange.

Busylizzie85 · 08/03/2020 21:32

I have had machine gun like movements it’s weird but most of mine recently has been in the cervix area, think she’s using it as a trampoline It’s very uncomfortable! 😂

Zoey92 · 08/03/2020 21:40

Thanks everyone, I'm still in my 10s but bought some maternity jeggings from new look today FANTASTIC they're so comfy! I'm literally all bump i dont know how when I'm eating everything in sight 😂 people just become very opinionated when you're pregnant.

Anyone had their 25wk midwife appointment? Just wondering what it entailed for some of you.

Different places seem to be doing different things. I did not have a 25 week appt. Having my 28 week one this week. I'll also be doing the GTT at the appt.

I was wondering: what is everyone's stretchmark situation? This is my first and I am bracing myself. I've started to notice some new ones on my hip areas. Been moisturising twice a day for 2 months with special formulations. Wondering when to expect some on the tum. I know they are not really a big deal, but I also want to psychologically prepare for that change. Does anyone think these formulations even work?

AmyMaria2 · 09/03/2020 03:08

@APD1981 busy busy week, looking forward to getting it all over with and hopefully relaxing abit more! I love the baby shopping and feeling Baby abit more now, so not all negative!

@Missgemini I have recently got so many stretch marks which I don't mind, they are all low down but quite dark and itchy, I'm trying to use bio oil and not itch them as they get really raised and sore!! I'll attach pic. Hope you don't get irritating ones like me x

Gigitree · 09/03/2020 05:57

@Missgemini as far as I’m aware I don’t think any of the creams etc work. It’s more to do with what your skin is like. Either you’re susceptible to them or you’re not. Did you get many when you were growing up? I have loads from going through puberty and I seem to just get them so easily, so I’m assuming I will get a lot more of them during pregnancy too.

@Zoey92 i had one at just after 24 weeks with my midwife. It was just the same as the last one really. She took my BP, urine test, listened to babies heartbeat. Tried to book my GTT but couldn’t get hold of them to book it. Talked through any questions I had. That was about it.

Kez437 · 09/03/2020 09:09

Ladies I am aware this is very early but started to think of my hospital bag (I liked to be prepared). I'm hoping to breastfeed and all the recommendations are for button down nighties and pyjamas. Has anyone found any nice ones anywhere? I'm guessing during and after labour I'm going to feel a bit rotten so I'd like some pretty nightmare at least to make me feel more human and cheer me up and for first photos with bambino Smile

Missgemini · 09/03/2020 10:57

Thanks ladies!
I definitely got more than my fair share of stretchmarks from puberty. Have them on boobs, bottom, hips and calf areas. Was never even overweight, so definitely expecting them from pregnancy. I'm just moisturising to limit the damage as it were. Haha!

Otherwise, baby is moving so much more and kicking a little higher now. I think he is slowly turning. We are beyond excited to meet him soon!

UKtoSK · 09/03/2020 12:19

@AmyMaria2 you have such a great bump!!

@Missgemini I’ve been moisturising but just to keep my skin soft and not itchy. I don’t have any yet but I do have them all over my hips/thighs from puberty.

Speaking of growing bumps, is anyone else suffering from feeling equally squashed and stretched in their belly? I’m only 24+2 and already feel like I’m running out of space, especially just below my ribs.

I had my iron levels checked today and they’re normal so doctor thinks my dizziness is probably an ear issue from my sinus infection. She doesn’t think it’s serious and said to just be careful.

I’m having a bit too much fun online shopping at the moment. Got an ikea cot, some bottles and a wrap carrier, some Aden and Anais muslins and a bunch of baby clothes from next. So excited for everything to arrive!

Smiffette · 09/03/2020 13:31

I haven't got any stretch marks yet, but fully expecting to get them!! My mum and sister both did.
I got them on my boobs and inner thighs growing up so I guess I'm prone to them.

I'm just starting to get to the point where I can't where my size 12 work skirts and tops. Even though they are stretchy they are too tight by end of the day. I do have 1 pair of maternity work trouser and a couple of tops, it's just they've been a little loose so far but think I'm going to have to make the permanent move in the next 1-2 weeks!!

I have 10 weeks left of work which is crazy!!

27 weeks today! 😀😀😀

Magpiefeather · 09/03/2020 13:32

Re Stretch marks.... I actually don’t think I have any yet. There might be some hiding under the bump though! I didn’t get any for a long old time with baby number 1, it was all in the last 3 or 4 weeks they appeared (dd arrived at 41+1 weeks). I heard it was down to genetics!

So relieved we got some some sorted this weekend - cleared out the loft at our new house so have been sorting what’s going up there. Got out DDs baby clothes in the process and can’t believe I’m going to have another baby to fill them! Feeling very emotional looking at how small they are!

Still lots to do to get baby’s room clear of boxes but hopefully in a few weeks we should be able to start getting stuff set up in there. Reeeeaaaally glad we will (hopefully) have some warmer weather to dry all the stuff I need to wash before baby comes... pram, car seats etc. Exciting times

AmyMaria2 · 09/03/2020 14:42

Hope it's okay to ask @Magpiefeather how was your first birth with DD? Are you nervous to do it all again or did you have a good experience? I'm getting soo nervous thinking about giving birth!! X

SearchingTheSkies · 09/03/2020 15:43

No stretch marks thus far, but I'm expecting to get some. I have them on my hips from puberty.

This is a bit TMI, but wondering if anyone else has been finding wet patches in underwear that look more like watery fluid than discharge? I've had it a couple of times in the last two weeks. It almost looks like I've spilled water down there. Pretty sure it's not urine. I asked midwife today and she said it is likely just watery discharge but to keep an eye as some women can leak amniotic fluid. I'm not sure how I'd tell the difference!

mrssunshinexxx · 09/03/2020 16:20

@SearchingTheSkies yes me ! Most days sometimes I feel like I've wet myself ., but there's no smell

Cb31 · 09/03/2020 16:47

@SearchingTheSkies thanks so much for your post!!! I've had the same thing for the last few weeks and just thought it was normal. But after seeing your post I rang the triage and they've told me to come in to check whether my waters have broken!!! Just waiting for my husband to get back then I'm heading to the hospital. Feel really stupid that I just ignored it and thought it was normal. I really hope everything is ok. Have felt baby moving around today so hopefully it's fine xxx

SearchingTheSkies · 09/03/2020 17:54

@mrssunshinexxx Glad it's not just me!
@Cb31 I hope my post hasn't worried you - it's most likely a normal part of pregnancy, but I'm glad you're getting checked out. Better to be sure. I think I'll ask to get checked whenever it happens again, just in case. Like you, baby is moving fine and no other symptoms to suggest anything is wrong. Let us know how you get on.

newbyxx · 09/03/2020 18:10

@SearchingTheSkies @Cb31 same thing happened to me at around 25 weeks I had a hour triage visit where they took high vaginal swabs to check whether my amniotic fluid was leaking- it wasn't! Turned out I had thrush which was causing the excessive watery discharge TMI I'm sorry 😂. Increase in discharge is always normal
Throughout pregnancy forms a protection in the the vagina, I'm sure you're both fine 😊 is worrying though.

No stretch marks for me as of yet, have been moisturising etc but my midwife said if you're going to get them
You're going to get them, oils moisturisers etc won't stop them! It's all part of the journey and what our amazing bodies are going through.

Has anyone around my date started feeling a pattern of movement? My little man moves and different times/ intensity everyday. I can see lots
Of worry over movement happening after 28 weeks if he stays like this! My anterior placenta won't help that either x

chocolate26 · 09/03/2020 18:23

I have been having a bit of watery discharge too! Not loads but every now and then it happens. Hope everything is okay when you get checked! I'm sure it will be.

I don't have any stretch marks yet, I'm ashamed to say I haven't been moisturising either! My skin is nice and soft though so I haven't felt the need to. My mum didn't get any stretch marks with me or my sister and I've heard it can be genetic.

Has anyone had sickness come back a bit? Mine had pretty much gone completely from 20 weeks to 25 weeks but over the last couple of days I've felt quite nauseous again, especially when hungry and was actually sick on Saturday night.
