Hi, thought I'd start a new thread. Hope ou find this OK!

Just been shopping downtown and bought a fab paid of maternity pants for work.

Also bought "The Baby Name Wizard" as Borders were having 20% off everything. Feel free anyone to ask me a question about names now!! The book categorises them into the following "style families" (chances are if you like one name in the family, you'll like a number of others - e.g. I tend to go for "Antique Charm" names for girls which include Abigail, Adeline, AMelia, Anna. Annabel, Annalise, Ava, Bella, Clara, Daisy, Eleanor, Emma, Eva, Georgia, Grace, Hannah and Isabel):
African, Androgynous, Antique Charm, Bell tones, Biblical, Brisk and Breezy, Celtic, Charms and Graces, Country and Western, English, The -ens, Exotic Traditionals, Fanciful, French, German, Greek, Guys and Dolls, Italian, Jewish, Lacy and Lissome, Ladies and Gentlemen, Last Names First, Latino, Little Darlings, Long Gone, Mid-Century, Modern Meanings, Muslim, Mythological, Namesakes, New Classics, Nickname-Proof, Place-Names, Porch-Sitters, Saints, Scandanavian, '70s and '80s, Shakespearean, Slavic, Solid Citizens, Surfer Sixties, Timeless and Why Not?

Insy, that must be so hard!! I've picked up one of those automatic baby swings (for up to 4 months) today and tomorrow an old friend is dropping by with a bassinet and other bits and bobs - its making me very excited.
Maybe remind him that a baby is considered "viable" at 25 weeks and by 28 weeks would almost certainly be OK if born early after that date?
I just noticed that TWO babies on the Due in October thread have popped already!!

OH and almost bumped into the absent father of my baby today (old story - brief fling led to PG, he felt wounded and aggrieved when I said no to "trying to make it work for the sake of the baby" and hasn't contacted me since).
Was in a cafe ordering food and out of the corner of my eye saw him come in - when I finished ordering turned around and he'd scarpered.
Have to say I took about twice as long to get my order out as I went into a bit of a state of shock wondering whether this was the moment he would actually take the opportunity to re-acknowledge me and my now obvious bump, but I guess no surprise he chose not to.
So in the end was a bit of anticlimax - and seeing him did not in any way make me regret the decision I made at the time so I guess that's something!
Still feeling rather emotional about it though as I would really prefer LO to know her father, seems it will be up to me to make the moves when the time comes.

nightmare buzzybee! You would think he would want to have a reltaionship with his child. Maybe he hasn't forgiven you yet- or maybe you just caught him off guard. Poor you- must have been a shock

thelady · 08/09/2007 08:40

Buzzybee: if he was going to be that aggrieved about you being PG and not wanting a relationship, why on earth wasn't he the one taking precautions IYSWIM?

Good for you!

Curlygirly · 08/09/2007 12:24

Had very emotional week. Ds1 started 'big school'. It broke my heart when he was begging me not to leave him. I blamed my tears on my hormones!

Ambi · 08/09/2007 13:06

buzzy, seems you did make the right decision then.

Thelady would recommend a bundle of clothes from ebay, i bought a bundle of 5 tops back in may for about £10, I now pretty much live in them, thogh keep getting outbid on maternity jeans, I begrudge shelling out on new jeans for a few months!!

becklespeckle · 08/09/2007 15:36

Hi ladies, hope you are all having a good weekend - bit grey here but not cold!
Is there anyone else on their third finding this pg more demanding physically? I don't remember the uncomfortableness being about this early with the DSs and I definitely didn't waddle this early with them! Had another person notice I was pg (from behind too) the other day becuase of the way I was walking!
DH told me off last night because he says he can see my ribs and I have lost weight off my bum and thighs, this baby must be taking a lot cos I have been eating like a horse!
Bit of a TMI question here too - has anyone else found that their ladybits are more swollen than usual (and more so after sex )? Is it just that there is more blood flow to the area or something like that which causes it?

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 08/09/2007 15:58

beckle dont know about the lady bits as sex is off the menu in our house

I am on third and am knackered. I am all baby and have lost weight. I waddle like a duck too and even going upstairs drains me.I am aneamic so not helping but neither is the iron I am taking

Bouncingturtle · 08/09/2007 17:10

Increased blood flow in the pelvic region plus rampaging hormones cause greater sensitivity and more intense orgasms, apparently!

Thelady - I second Ambi's suggestion I've bought some lovely stuff off ebay, I figure what I save by not buying brand new maternoty clothes I'll spend on the baby

becklespeckle · 08/09/2007 17:15

Chocolate you sound just like me! I can't walk fast, I waddle and the stairs make my legs ache! I am so tired with this one too but don't think I am anaemic, next bloods in 4 weeks though so time will tell. Have lost weight everywhere except bump and boobs! Had put on at least 2.5 stone with DS1 at this stage and 1.5 with DS2.
Physically I seemed to sail through with the boys so did wonder if it was a third child thing (or a 5 years older and not in the first flush of youth any more thing...).

becklespeckle · 08/09/2007 17:16

I have just hit the 1 stone weight gain mark this time although don't seem to be carrying much water - carried loads on my thighs with both boys - so that could be why I haven't put on as much.

PeckaRolloverAgain · 08/09/2007 17:23

Im on my third and whilst you can certianly not see my ribs dont think Ive put as much weight on apart from the bump as with the other two.

I feel big and uncomfortable already.

Get knackered very easily.

Killer tiredness.

Im desperate for it to be over TBH.

Bouncingturtle · 08/09/2007 18:01

25 weeks tomorrow and am feeling tired, with backache and sore feet already - what I'm going to be like in December!!! Feel like such a wuss, especially when I see hugely pg women getting around perfectly normally compared to my waddle!

suey2 · 08/09/2007 18:28

Yes, really hope the third trimester goes as quickly as the second. Getting really fed up with the physical limitations- feeling like i am going to explode when squatting, the swelling feet, ankles and hands, back pain for 2 hours after running for the bus etc etc etc. V tedious having to constantly think 'ooh i can't/ shouldn't do that'.
Honestly, apart from the kicking which is cool, you can keep the rest of being PG. Roll on December- or actually, i really hope i go into labour at about 36 weeks- am I bad?

suey2 · 08/09/2007 18:33

oo- has anyone's belly button popped out?

Bouncingturtle · 08/09/2007 18:41

Mined hasn't! I agree - fed up with all the can't do this/can't have this... I want to go on Nemesis at Alton Towers eating liver pate lol

becklespeckle · 08/09/2007 19:45

Mine started to pop out a few weeks ago Suey! Another thing which didn't happen with the boys - it just kind of went flat with them!

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 08/09/2007 19:53

becklespeckle and pecka

i agree its awful this time. I have had added pressure as my 2nd ended at 25 weeks with a still birth so been v anxious this time. But saying all that the physical side has been much more demanding and I have had all the same illnesses with this one as I had with first two, just seem to be struggling more this time.

But I accept that at 40 and with third pg in less than 4 years my body is probably protesting a bit.

So want the end but as our building work is not finished kinda know that I have to be patient as currently have no kitchen!

PeckaRolloverAgain · 08/09/2007 20:26

Choc'peanut - my kitchen isnt even being delivered until end of october GULP!!

cazzybabs · 08/09/2007 20:38

Ha Ha - I don't have a kitchen either. It is being fitted in Nov - subject to the electrial and plambing work being done. I shall be in m,y birth pool surronded by contractors! I can't wait.

becklespeckle · 08/09/2007 20:53

I bet you have been anxious Chocolate, I would be too. I'm sorry, I can't remember when you are due but I guess the last few weeks must have been hard on you. I had not thought about the amount of pgs/time ratio putting strain on your body - my youngest DS is 4.5 now but I was pg twice last year too.
Building work is all good fun, DH is currently changing all the door liners/arcetrieve and doors upstairs and putting a bannister in so we can finally lay the stairs carpet which has been lurking in my house for the last 8 months! It is currently in the hallway which is the place it will most annoy us, hopefully that will encourage him to get on with it! Is your kitchen being done soon Chocolate? My house is almost done after 5 years (the joys of living with a builder...) although I doubt baby's room will be ready this year!
Hope your kitchen gets done before you give birth Cazzy! Half done work is a nightmare, when I had DS2 we had been sleeping on a mattress on the floor for weeks and we had no carpet or walls in the bedroom we were in! I was so worried the MW would take one look at the upstairs and take the baby away when she came on her first home visit!

BeachBunni · 08/09/2007 20:55

We've just got our kitchen finished (bar the tiling) and the nursery carpet down this week so I'm feeling a bit more sorted.

No full belly button poppage yet, just a bit but had a very definate inny before. Still enough poppage to see the lump through my t-shirts.

Feel very lazy compared to you workers. I'm on mat leave from 14th Oct and finish for holidays in three weeks. Have absolutley no intention in going back that work though. I was going to hand my notice in just before I found out I was pregnant and decided to stick it for the mat pay. I'm just going to get a part-time job closer to home next year.

LOL - who mentioned sex??? That is a banned word in my house.

cazzybabs · 08/09/2007 21:43

I am glad to know (a) I not alone in feeling shit. I used to go for long walks when pregnanct with the other 2, but now I just feel tired, my feet ache and my back kills. Is it 3rd time unlucky, the fact this is MY 3rd pregnancy in 12 months or just getting older?

and (b) not alone in the choas of building work. Still as long as the plumbing and re-wiring are done and the walls gone I will happy. WE don't have a kitchen at the moment so i can cope without!

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 08/09/2007 21:52

We moved in 6 month ago and we the builders finally started on the kitchen extension and conservatory this week. Main bedrooms and bathroom done and dh stripping stairs now as all needs to be skimmed, new banisters and so on. So kitchen will be knocked through in about 4 weeks and then they have to install new one.

Timing is crap as I am due on 1st dec but if we would have got pg in the last two years we tried we would have been doing all work with a 4 yr old and a baby so think this is better option.

Daydream about everything being done and me sat in finished conservatory with new baby

insywinsyspider · 08/09/2007 22:22

beckle - my bits are more swollen and my espi scar really hurts mw said its because muscles aren't as good this time and baby sits lower putting more pressure down there - loads of sitting on birthing ball for me already

buzzybee - i think dh thinks its too early because we have everything already but ds was a summer baby and this one will need some winter things - we were in baby gap today and its v v expensive but dh wanted to buy ds a new hoodie as last one I got in sale was fab and he's grown out of it and I managed to persuade him to buy a v expensive new born all in one winter suit - spent way too much money on 2 items of clothing but love them!
been chatting about double buggies too - ds with be 19 mo when baby arrives - thinking I might see how long I can get away with baby sling and buggy board for.... a new buggy seems so expensive

suey - no belly button here - can't remember when it disappeared
