Postive then negative...what's going on?

I had faint postive on FRER on Sunday using FMU, did another Monday afternoon and had another BFP but even fainter.
Was going to test again using FMU today (Tuesday) but woke up at 2am busting for wee so tested and got BFN.

I'm really upset and can't sleep now. Why has it gone from + to - ? I had surgical procedure for MMC on 25th May and have been TTC since 10th June, just wondering if postives weren't real? I was really shocked to see a + considering I've only been TTC for 3 weeks (had really strong ovulation symptoms about 10 days ago and constant twinges since on and off). I wish I'd not tested now because I'm wondering if I picked up some random Hcg, if that is even possible?

Morning. I'm sorry for your loss. TTC after a miscarriage is so hard emotionally.

This could be one of a few things I think. I'll go worst case to to best case!

...maybe a chemical pregnancy. You managed to fertilise an egg but it didn't implant properly, generating just enough hcg to trigger the very sensitive FRER. Your period will probably come as normal.

...there was some hcg left in your system after MC and it picked up this as it left your system. If so you may yet still ovulate this cycle. The pain/symptoms may have been your body gearing up to ovulate but not quite managing it. Everything is confused immediately post MC and your cycle should straighten out. I'd highly recommend temping (plenty of advice on here and google) to see if you are ovulating and opk to give you the heads up it's happening.

The faint lines were evap lines and you're testing too soon... if you did ovulate ten days ago you'll likely get your period in less than a week. If you don't, test again!

Personally I don't like FRER for early testing because of the risk of picking up a chemical. As a serial early tester i bought multipacks of very cheap tests and used those (liberally!)

Good luck with it all x

Edit to add a best case after rereading...
Perhaps you ovulate slightly later than you think and you've used more dilute urine each time which has meant the lightening lines. Especially if you've been drinking water in the night or before bed. I'd wait a few days and test again (or do as I would and buy a million more tests hoping for an eventual positive...)

@awakeatnight thank you for your comments. I'm going to wait until the weekend to test again if period doesn't come. You're right, it's so emotionally draining. X
