Hi, is it okay if I join? I know I’m late. I’m due the 29th with my 3rd

Tefiti2 · 30/06/2019 12:47

I can add anyone in to the secret Facebook group if you’d like - @twittlebee posted an updated pic on there this morning :-) you’d need to add me a friend but I’ll delete you straight afterwards.

Hi all, popping in as have bit of a strange spare hour to wait until I can go see baby. I'm here on my own now as DH has gone back home to pack me supplies as I'll be getting a parent room to move into. Anyway, did plan to go see baby and express but been told to come back in an hour as they need to put more wires and tubes in him and do more tests and xrays etc. He's taken a turn for the worse again. His lungs aren't great but he also has an infection that they can't seem to even begin to shift yet.

Been reading through everyone's posts. Is bloody odd though isn't it that you all have a viable baby now! I keep looking at baby and thinking it's odd how he was in me and that developed!

But yes all get your bags packed now and get prepped! Hopefully you all do have a good while to wait yet though!

TwittleBee · 30/06/2019 14:51

Also here is another baby pic

IVEgottheDECAF · 30/06/2019 15:08

Oh bless him twittle! And you! How are you feeling? A parent room sounds good, is that private?

Aw, look at him, come on little man and kick that nasty interaction quickly so your mummy can have lots of cuddles soon.

@Whisky2014 I think my midwife said doing it was a good idea just in case baby comes early too. You can fill up the same syringe throughout the day (put in very coldest part of fridge in between) then freeze. But not before 36 weeks as yes to the bringing on labour bit!!

Very much in love with my dh today - he's started to build a fence around the garden to keep our dog (and I suppose child eventually!) contained! We have conifers surrounding the garden, but they're full of dog / child sized holes around the bottom!!

easterbuns1 · 30/06/2019 15:50

I hope you are feeling the best you can TwittleBee x

DustyDoorframes · 30/06/2019 16:36

Thank you for popping in @TwittleBee !
A parent room sounds like very good news, I'm so glad you are not just being sent home. And if you are getting as much as a few drops when you are expressing it will all be helping so much against that infection. The rollercoaster doesn't stop does it! Time must feel quite odd at the moment- funny long hours waiting, mixed up with huge news to take in several times a day. ThanksThanksThanks

Florencenotflo · 30/06/2019 17:33

He's lovely @TwittleBee!

@Whisky2014 I've had this for a few weeks now. It's very odd because I struggled to feed Dd and ended up ff full time! Midwife said leave it a few weeks and they will give me sterile syringes to express into. It will just be drops to start with but baby will only drink about a tablespoon at a time for the first few days. It can help baby if yo have GD or if baby is early. Or even if you just want a break in the first few days, Dad can feed them via syringe.

Karigan195 · 30/06/2019 18:16

He’s lovely Twittlebee. Everyone’s rooting for you both. He’s a fighter and has excellent chances.

IVEgottheDECAF · 30/06/2019 18:36

Just had my first experience of fanny daggers. Ouch!

kyles101 · 30/06/2019 20:35

Not had the pleasure of fanny daggers yet but pretty sure i got scratched earlier today - it bloody hurt!

TheCraicDealer · 30/06/2019 20:44

Thanks for popping in @TwittleBee- really hope the wee man beats this infection soon and that you're recovering well.

Finally finished painting the nursery this morning! It was like painting the bloody Sistine Chapel, if Michelangelo had an assistant who had to be bribed with PlayStation time later Hmm Still have to hang the bunting at the other end of the room and build the cot, but feel like it's a big job ticked off the list.

Karigan195 · 30/06/2019 20:59

Ok I need cunning ways to beat a cough/cold. Coughing so much it’s hurting now! Every cough feels like I’ve pulled my stomach muscles.

So far I’ve got paracetamol, ice chips and halls soothers. What else is allowed?

BBell2 · 30/06/2019 21:02

@twittlebee he is such a little poppet, I'm hoping so hard for you that the infection passes quickly. How are you feeling, we all hope your recovery is starting too.

I had a first (apart from one day in March spent puking) day alone in as long as I can remember. Bit of prep and study for interviewing, some sorting and storing work clothes that dont fit and wont be used for a year, cuddling the dog, some Netflix binging!. It's been so lovely as a one off, my mums such a hero taking my girl for a bit!

Moraxella · 30/06/2019 21:19

Craic I like the grey skirting!

Just researching (massive) vermicomposters as apparently you can degrade biodegradable nappies in them.. I know they don’t break down in landfill. This is gonna be a fun mat leave hobby!!!

Whisky2014 · 30/06/2019 22:45

I just read this www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/what-happens-during-labour-and-birth/
And I do not want to do it! I am really quite worried about it.

Megan2018 · 30/06/2019 23:08

@Karigan195 I found saline nasal spray helpful, clears out all the sinus passages and dries mucus up. Sterimar or similar.
Other than that, I don’t think there’s anything Sad
Hope you feel better soon!

TheCraicDealer · 30/06/2019 23:14

Thanks @Moraxella- it's a new build and the developers put it through the whole house. It would be a pain in the arse to repaint so we kept it. When I eventually get sick of it we're just going to have to move Grin

Stroan · 30/06/2019 23:23

@twittlebee half you are staying close in a parent room, hope you are recovering well too. Sending lots of infection fighting vibes your way.

@karigan195 the glycerine based cough mixes are okay too I think. They don't actually contain anything but can be quite soothing when you can't use the hard stuff!

Stroan · 30/06/2019 23:29

@whisky2014 that's quite a matter of fact guide! I am the biggest wimp going and I loved labour. All went a bit tits up on the last couple of pushes, but the rest was fine. I don't remember any pain and have lots of nice memories (sounds bonkers but I loved my midwife and quite liked my husband throughout labour...)

Don't underestimate the power of all that natural oxytocin!

I found the lead up and waiting game SO much worse than actual labour. Too much time to think and panic and read scary birth stories.

Whisky2014 · 01/07/2019 07:12

Thanks for that @stroan. I heard yesterday my cousin got an oxytocin drip to get her going as her contractions slowed down and was sent home, then when she went back she got this drip as her waters had been broken for 24hours. So looked up the drip and that's when I read the but about just before delivering baby's head etc.
I'm so worried about it and I expect tears. When I had to go to hospital a few weeks back and they put the speculum in, I was really shocked at how sore it was.
Also, tmi, I haven't had much sex at all with my husband, I just don't want it and so I feel like my vagina is just a bit not-used if that makes sense? So its going to get a shock

Megan2018 · 01/07/2019 07:28

@whisky2014
At NCT they make it sound like a doddle! I’ve not fallen for it though. I’m freaked out by the idea of stitches and the forceps terrify me-the NCT lady related them to salad servers and every time I get the salad bowl out I shudder!

Have decided to state I’d prefer csection to instrumental delivery.

We were shown some diagrams about tears. They didn’t reassure me as have friend who is still doubly incontinent 5 years after her baby. She’s having 2 more operations to try and sort it. I know that’s rare though.

A lovely family came to buy my car this weekend, their eldest child has cerebal palsy from traumatic birth. I had a massive wobble when they left, more scared than ever Sad.

It’s made me more certain I want an epidural, I don’t want to feel the salad servers! I will also definitely take the section if offered when I see consultant. Complete wimp here.
