June 2019 - Part 7!

Hi ladies! Picking names, packing hospital bags - third trimester here we come! Smile

I thought I'd start out with the stats this time and I'll post the updated name list in a bit. I've just included the data that I have, since a lot of people are missing bits (or quite possibly I've missed their posts). We come from all over, so I'll put that bit in another post later as well.

Our average age at estimated due date is 33! That should help some of us who are feeling older.

And that's not just because we're all second-timers! In fact, most of us are having our first baby this year.

Baby #1 - 31
Baby #2 - 26
Baby #3 - 9
Baby #4 - 1
Babies 1&2 together! - 1

Fifteen of us are expecting lovely little boys, nineteen of us are expecting darling little girls, and at least sixteen of us are waiting to be surprised!

The average due date is June 13th, and the most popular due date is June 24th. We don't have anyone expecting on the 15th, 23rd, 27th, or 30th as far as I can tell.

And if you happen to have a baby on my birthday (June 16th), your baby will be born on Father's Day this year!

@2countriea1bump 10 flights in 6 weeks!! Fair play to you!

My Mat leave is starting 31st May but I'm using annual leave to finish on the 17th (due date 21st June). With random days I've booked off and bank holidays I'm choosing not to work I've only got 24 working days left 🙌🙌

Changingagain · 07/04/2019 17:52

7 weeks left in work for me.
My maternity leave starts on my due date (24th) but I've got 4 weeks annual leave beforehand. I'll probably be induced at 38 weeks though and the first two weeks are during a big road racing event when I won't be able to get ds to nursery so I'll not be getting the rest I originally hoped for.

coastergirl · 07/04/2019 19:08

@Napssavelives I'm 28 weeks and have only gained 6lbs. No idea why! Midwives say baby is growing well so nothing to worry about.

swiftfox · 07/04/2019 19:17

@fee1234 @mrshadders Thanks! Amsterdam is wonderful and sunny and it's great to be away. I managed to and a half days really well, walking around, staying out (reasonably) late, but today I suddenly got totally tired out and so breathless. Came back to the hotel to rest which was a shame as it's a beautiful day. Did manage to snap up a brand new embroidered Zara jacket with tags still attached from that massive flea market for 5€ so not a wasted day!

Planning on staying my mat leave 23.5. which is exactly three weeks before due date. But I'm so knackered that I'm wondering how I'll last till then!

swiftfox · 07/04/2019 19:21

*starting mat leave, not staying! The sun clearly went to my head today!

Btw, I was advised to start my mat leave midweek. something about how salaries are calculated. If you finish work on Friday and start mat leave on Mon then you don't get paid for the weekend days. But I guess that depends how your salary is calculated.

Heyha · 07/04/2019 19:34

Ooh lots to catch up on here! I've put on loads of weight already (gone up two dress sizes in underbump trousers and bra size) despite being told I'm small ALL the time, but baby measuring on the 50th centile line so can't blame him/her too much 🙂 the joy of summer babies means lots of walks and light summery meals, right?

I'm hoping to work to May half term then start leave at the end of that holiday when I'll be just over 37 weeks. Found out last week our council give slightly longer on full pay than what the teacher pay and conditions state, which was a nice surprise.

Heyha · 07/04/2019 19:37

Symptom wise I had cramp in my left hand earlier which was a weird one. Baby had a really weird move yesterday too, felt like there was a toddler tantrum going on in there for about 5 seconds. Was a bit scary but seems back to normal today and it hasn't happened again.

Torsz · 07/04/2019 19:48

I'm due 31 May and am starting mat leave that day, but have 2 weeks annual leave carried over from last year so will be finishing in mid May ☺️ much longer and I think I'd go stir crazy - hoping baby isn't late as I don't want too much time off!!

hexagon01 · 07/04/2019 20:39

@2countries1bump I used cloth nappies from about 5 weeks with my first. I loved them! Still use them. Just extra washing, but I don’t mind washing so it’s okay for me Smile

2countries1bump · 07/04/2019 20:45

@Heyha any chance it's hiccups? I think we've had two bouts today and she clearly reacts with wildly failing limbs in addition to the rhythmic twitch thing.

toomanyflatwhites · 07/04/2019 20:45

I'm due 14th June and finishing work 24th May (using 2 weeks annual leave and officially starting mat leave 5th June). I'm nervous in case the baby comes early, DD's labour started on my due date but nothing to say I'm likely to have an early one other than my fear of getting no rest beforehand!!
Have got some crazy weeks expected at work before I finish not least this coming week, and into the bargain DP is away in the US Wednesday to next Monday which I am dreading. Mind you he's pissed me off so much today by essentially leaving me to do everything and to get DD out of the flat most of the day so he could work that I would rather he wasn't here today either, haha! Am just so shattered having either been cleaning, cooking or toddler wrangling all day. He's putting her to bed right now though 👍🏻

2countries1bump · 07/04/2019 20:47

@hexagon01 Thanks! Really helpful to get a good sense of how easy it is and when to start.

DinoMamasaurus · 07/04/2019 21:23

Oops posted before finished writing. I guess when to start depends on ease of laundry facilities.

@rollerskaterdata good luck with your scan. Is the referral from bump measurements? I think the bump tape measurements aren’t that accurate as to baby size.

DinoMamasaurus · 07/04/2019 21:24

@2countries1bump - our boy was born at 10lb 2 so we didn’t need to wait for him to fit it them! We used Tots Bots birth to potty kit. Started them as soon as we were back from the hospital - we also used cloth wipes which I am a big fan of. Really effective and DS never had any nappy rash or irritation.

(On a side note i’m convinced the suggestion to use cotton wool balls is a midwife joke! Nothing against cotton wool but get the pads/bigger stuff - a teeny tiny ball vs baby poop no thanks!)

DinoMamasaurus · 07/04/2019 21:25

Ok - i’m hopeless i’d just previewed the first bit rather than posted! Sorry it’s in a muddle!

Heyha · 07/04/2019 21:40

@2countries1bump could be I guess, I think we've had hiccups before but not the lunatic movement as well. I think it's lying differently as well today as I've had less rolling. Wish we could see what they get up to!

Napssavelives · 08/04/2019 05:26

The dreaded leg cramps have started here too, forgot how painful those fuckers were! They’ve woken me twice overnight, had me jumping straight out of bed to stand up and stretch my leg. Joys!

hexagon01 · 08/04/2019 08:39

There’s nothing that gets a pregnant woman out of bed faster than leg cramps! I didn’t know I could still move so quick.

Daffydillo · 08/04/2019 08:42

@heyha a fellow teacher here and I think we might be due a similar time? I’m due 20th June and hoping to work until 7th June. Easter hols couldn’t have come soon enough though I am exhausted!

On another note, has anyone been feeling faint? I keep having to lie down which is not good with a busy 3yr old.

Got midwife and a growth scan this week, consultant next week - all feeling a bit scary!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 08/04/2019 08:58

Yes @daffydillo I have been light headed and my heart condition is really kicking off now. Am desperate to avoid beta blockers at all but my heart rate veering between 80 and 190 at the drop of a hat is no fun.

Ladies can I please pose a (very outing) moral dilemma?

My heart condition means I may not be able to commute for much longer meaning I will have to WFH. Work are on the whole very flexible and accommodating around things like that.

Today we find out if we are moving back to Scotland before baby arrives and if so it will be 2 May.

My contract at work formally ends 31 May.

Would you use the medical line to wfh and basically work from Scotland without telling for the last 3 weeks of your contract?

Or would you be totally honest and say “I’m moving to Scotland and need to WFH May 2 - 31?” maybe only mentioning pregnancy related health issues in passing?

FWIW my role will no longer be client facing in May and is all paperwork to do with novating contracts in light of Brexit.

Also: my line manager is home based but his manager is new and a bell end and very obsessed with people being “seen in the office” even though we have 12 desks for a headcount of 28.

rollerskaterdata · 08/04/2019 10:55

@DinoMamasaurus bump measurements are all spot on, it's the anaemia - they want to check it's not having an effect on baby's growth. I don't think it is and I'm not worried at all, but better safe than sorry and who would say no to extra scans to check their baby is ok!

rollerskaterdata · 08/04/2019 10:57

@PaulHollywoodsSexGut tricky one, but I think I would tell them. I'm a bit of a goody two shoes though. Presumably as you're leaving end of May they should be pretty flexible anyway?! Can't see why they wouldn't be x

fee1234 · 08/04/2019 11:12

@PaulHollywoodsSexGut technically Scotland would be your 'home' so you could argue that you are working from home, it just so happens to be up north! I wouldn't bother mentioning it to them since you are so close to the end - as long as you are getting the work done as normal?

Also if you do come to Scotland you should remember to register for your baby box, I get mine in a few weeks 😊

annihall · 08/04/2019 14:24

@PaulHollywoodsSexGut if it was me I would probably tell them as I'd feel too bad not to haha. And in the end there's not much they can do about it anyway, if you've got the medical reason to back up why you have to work from home you might as well be honest and tell them that you're moving.

Does anyone else feel incredibly exhausted again? And sometimes even the morning/all day sickness seems to be coming back (even though not as bad as in the beginning). I'm really struggling at work - I have another 6 weeks until I start my leave and really don't know how to cope with a full working week anymore...

toomanyflatwhites · 08/04/2019 14:44

@annihall YES! No sickness thankfully, but I am totally exhausted. Had a mad start to my working week and know there's more where that came from, and theN DP will be away Wednesday to Monday so I'll be toddler wrangling solo for the whole weekend after one of my busiest work weeks of the year 😳 I'm trying to think positive but just dreading it - it's only Monday and I already just want to lay down on the floor and sleep!!
