I think the advice I've always been given is if there is a change in movements- so reduced or different - and you are concerned then get checked out. I'm glad you've been seen but if it is still bothering you then don't put off getting checked out because you feel like you're pestering or something.
Saying that, I do think like other posters that movements do differ to some extent based on your activity, what you've eaten/drunk and particularly where baby is lying. I was told it's around 34 weeks that movements are more regular/patterned but didn't think they'd ever be at the exact same time each day?!

rollerskaterdata · 05/03/2019 13:12

Exactly what @Torsz and @Bigonesmallone3 said. When I last went in for reduced movements everything was fine, and she was quiet for 2 days after that still. I was hesitant to go in a 4th time but by the 3rd day she was moving vigorously again. I honestly think they have quiet and active days and it was stressing me out so much, now as long as I feel some sort of movement regularly throughout the day (stretching, rolling or big kicks etc) I don't worry anymore. It can be so stressful though can't it!

Torsz · 05/03/2019 14:00

So I had my 28 week midwife appointment today and asked if I'd get to hear the heartbeat...she said not until 36 weeks!! I may have had baby by then 🤨🤣

rollerskaterdata · 05/03/2019 15:31

@Torsz really?! I thought they listened every appointment from now on? I have my 28 week appointment on Thursday so I'll see if my midwife does it. Did your midwife measure your bump? At 25 weeks mine didn't (even though NHS site says they should) and she said she'd only start doing it at 28 weeks 🤷‍♀️

Bigonesmallone3 · 05/03/2019 15:33

Wow down here they listen in to the heartbeat from 16 weeks!
Strange how it varies so much..

Bigonesmallone3 · 05/03/2019 15:34

They don't start measuring til 28 weeks here too @rollerskaterdata

Torsz · 05/03/2019 15:52

@rollerskaterdata I know right - she told me at 16 weeks that I had to wait until 28 weeks to hear the heartbeat, then today when I asked she said they don't do it until 36 weeks as they don't want you to feel reassured by hearing the heartbeat then to ignore a lack of movement and not get checked out... 🤨

She did measure bump, both today and at my 25 week one. I'm at about 60th percentile so happy with that at least!

rollerskaterdata · 05/03/2019 16:01

@Bigonesmallone3 glad to know I'm not the only one then!

@Torsz ohh I see...I mean I can see the logic behind it but I think most women would go in for reduced movements regardless of when they last heard the heartbeat (well I would but I'm paranoid remember 😂). That's a great percentile, DS was born on the 9th percentile (a wee baby of 6lbs at 38 weeks) but was fit and healthy, no health issues and now a fit and healthy 4 year old on the 33rd percentile. This baby at last scan was perfect and in normal ranges but on the smaller side too, so I think I just grow smaller babies! I am only 5 foot myself so not exactly big!

Torsz · 05/03/2019 16:20

@rollerskaterdata thanks - I think it's probably lots of liquid to be fair as my 20 week scan showed she was at about 28th percentile and I'm 5'3 so am expecting a little one...but we shall see!!

HoneyPea · 05/03/2019 17:54

They listened to heartbeat from 16weeks here too but said they only measure bump from 28weeks. Strange how everywhere is different!

stellarfox · 05/03/2019 18:13

@Torsz My midwife said the exact same thing that they don’t want people not to get checked out if they are concerned because they will leave it a couple of days if they have a midwife appointment coming up. They must have had that happen to some people and things gone wrong so it kind of makes sense, although I’d rather they did do it!

Heyha · 05/03/2019 18:48

Heartbeat from 16 weeks here, will find out on Friday if they measure at 25 weeks!

I wouldn't hesitate to go in again if I were worried about movements, it was such a short appointment I didn't feel like I was inconveniencing anyone but instantly felt better and the staff didn't bat an eyelid either.

Fabuluce · 05/03/2019 20:27

They start measuring here at 28 weeks and have had a listen in to the heartbeat from 16 weeks. I have a heartbeat check weekly and it still wouldn't stop me from going in to get checked if there was reduced movement. That seems like dud advice to me - it's such a quick thing to do, I just don't understand why they wouldn't do it??🧐🤨

Bimbabo · 05/03/2019 21:17

A few weeks ago I phoned for reduced movement. Could feel some but not the same as before and had tried the cold drink, sugary food and lie on side for 2 hours. Went and they found a heartbeat straight away. Told me anytime I was worried to get in contact as they don’t want a stressed pregnant woman.
I’ve my midwife appointment tomorrow at 26 weeks. I’m going early since we’re off on holiday for some sunshine! Yay!! And I need a fit to fly certificate. Can’t believe it’ll soon be the third semester for us all! Haven’t we done well! xxx

Heyha · 05/03/2019 21:50

Exactly, I was in such a short time I didn't even get stung for parking 😂 our triage is miles away from here (looking forward to the drive when in labour...) so when I phoned they made a real effort to get me slotted in somewhere nearby on the same day instead of going to them.

annihall · 06/03/2019 06:43

They don't listen to the heartbeat here until 28 weeks either, neither do they measure the bump. Last midwife appointment almost felt a bit pointless, all she checked was my blood pressure and urine sample, took less than 5 minutes. Hoping for the next appointment in 2 weeks to be a bit more reassuring

toomanyflatwhites · 06/03/2019 09:54

I had my 25 week appointment this morning, it's was a GP here (though I think actually it's only meant to be for first time pregnancies, but the midwife told me I could do it anyway). V quick and efficient, just dipped urine, checked blood pressure and measured my bump which is 25.5cm and I'm 25.5 weeks so that's perfect! I was worried it might be measuring big as I suddenly had a huge growth in bump size in the last week and a half...

rollerskaterdata · 07/03/2019 08:51

28 weeks today, which means I can stop being deluded and actually officially say I'm in my third trimester now, yaye!

Kescilly · 07/03/2019 09:06

Well, I can safely recommend not buying Mamas & Papas furniture. We had help this week and were going to finally assemble our nursery set. Opened up the boxes for the wardrobe, pulled everything out, discovered that the very first piece had been manufactured incorrectly and there’s no way to assemble it.

So now I have to be home for them to pick up and drop off another box today. We open some more of the furniture and it’s cracked.

Our guests that were willing to help are leaving this week, so we’re going to have to assemble it ourselves. And who knows what other defects there are or how safe or sturdy this furniture is.

I’m so disappointed and now I’m also worried about putting our baby in this furniture. It was so expensive too!

Kescilly · 07/03/2019 09:34

And now the pickup and delivery that was supposed to be this morning has been unceremoniously cancelled. Would have been nice to know before I rearranged my day and before I dragged myself out of bed after four hours of sleep.

OP posts:
Blondcat · 07/03/2019 09:35

Oh no @kescilly that is such a shame as you expect the stuff to be good quality especially for the prices they charge. Seems like a lot of 'good' brands are cutting corners on delivering the quality we expect we have had a few issues with non baby stuff recently with things not finished to good standard where they previously were. Hope you can get it sorted soon and are happy with it.

Kescilly · 07/03/2019 09:47

Thanks @Blondcat but I think we might just return the whole lot. I’ve just gotten yet another message saying they are a few stops away so it’s not like I can even try going back to sleep. They can’t make up their minds about if they are showing up or not.

OP posts:
PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 07/03/2019 10:00

I would return it @kescilly

That’s unacceptable. M&P for a quality brand have utterly balls customer service and from personal experience they are a nightmare to deal with. Waiting in all day for things that never arrive/the wrong thing. Fuck that.

Regarding assembly and safety, it may be worth seeing if there’s anyone near you selling Hugh quality nursery furniture second hand? My friend kitted out her whole nursery in super swanky £££ Laura Ashley (I think it was anyway) from around 2010.

As long as the cot mattress is new and the cot side is not collapsible (legislation has changed recently on this I think) then you could really clean up.

I also understand the wish for new though, I was in that camp.

Kescilly · 07/03/2019 10:26

I’ve just been on the phone for half an hour trying to find out if they are coming today and I still don’t have an answer yet. I bet they’d love some Instagram pics of a sleep-deprived pregnant woman struggling to move a massive box of damaged furniture they’ve decided not to collect.

I’ll start having a look for Hugh furniture, @PaulHollywoodsSexGut. Unfortunately this furniture was purchased by my parents as a gift when my mom visited so we will essentially have to return their gift and purchase something new ourselves.

I think I’m partially upset because I’ve felt sad about being away from friends and family. And shopping with my mom has been one of the highlights of the pregnancy, but now it’s marred by the horrible products and customer service.

OP posts:
PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 07/03/2019 11:55

That was a typo, I meant high quality nursery furniture - maybe I need to start an elite brand called “Hugh” though now Grin

I’m sorry you’re feeling so down though @Kescilly

I’ve had a few moments where just stupid shit has really bust me out and I feel like having a big massive cry and the shitness of it all - nothing major at all, just daft stuff like Next sending me a size 8 maternity shirt when I requested a 14. It’s the EFFORT involved to correct such things I think most pregnant women of 25weeks+ would have no mental bandwidth for
