Hi, I started to read the other thread but it is VERY long. Can you explain all the abbreviations you use? What is dd and ds?

First baby is due 13 Feb, but I only had faint lines on pregnancy tests. I am seeing my GP on Monday. I saw people on the other thread talking about chemical pregnancies and faint lines being a problem; Could someone please explain what that is? Is it something I should be worrying about? I have had no sickness, but bad cramps in my stomach and lower back.

Thanks

Bessie

See under useful stuff for all acronyms but dd is dear daughter or dear darling and dear son. Just a quick one to get you started!

Thanks - the posts make more sense now.

A chemical pregnancy is where the egg is fertilised but it does not implant. Some hcg is produced (hence the faint lines) but the preg does not progress. I had one in April. I got a faint line on CD28, they got fainter as the week went on and I got my period/miscarried on CD35.

What cycle day are you on and when did you test? Am keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Thanks, Beansprout. I tested about 3 weeks ago because I had been getting symptoms and missed my period. The pregnancy was completely unexpected and unplanned, but a nice surprise. I'm 7 weeks gone now and completely ignorant of all the details - today is Research Day.

Good luck - i found the bounty site and ivillage useful. I remember at this stage you want so much info but try not to bombard yourself esp with the negative stuff.

Enjoy - your journey is just beginning !!

thankyou, will check them out.

I have been thinking about it, and I had a very light bleed for about 2 or 3 days just before my period was due; could that be an implantation bleed?

Thanks again for your help, both.

xx

As far as I know, a chem preg ends fairly quickly, so if you tested 3 weeks ago, that's unlikely.

Hope you get some reassurance from your GP

I think threads are capped at 1000 messages which the other one will hit within the next 10 days -- so not so much to read, soon, we'll start another.
