Due March 2008 - is it real?

Oh my. Have name changed as I feel like a wee bit of a muppet for coming here while a bit uncertain. Will change back when I know one way or t'other for sure.

Was lurking over a cafe buffet this morning with DS, utterly unable to decide what I wanted to have for lunch. Told myself I'd have the chips but that they would probably taste metallic. Remembered how last night all the food in the house was unappealing, except two corn on the cob (?!).

Penny then dropped, though our TTC last month consisted I thought of getting it on magnificently before and after fertile time. Whipped into Boots for a 1st response after figuring I am 3 days pre-AF. Just got a faint but-its-there positive. BBC website says due date is 1st March.

Anyone else yet? I will not tell dp until the line is brighter for point and show effect, so will probably re-test Friday am. I will be keeping my news, if this really is news, virtual apart from twlling him for as long as possible, as I'm older, my thyroid is knackered and my miscarriage and anomaly risks are high.

Other than that, I am having a little smile:

just out of curiosity when do you guys plan to tell family and friends? we did quite early with ds but only cause i was so ill

derah · 03/07/2007 10:58

I told my mum last night, will tell good friend today and need to tell my boss to avoid working with dangerous chemicals. My dad's coming over in a month and I'll tell him then. But I'm going to hold off telling everyone else until 12 weeks. It's kinda fun having a secret. But last time I told everyone before 12 weeks.... just too exciting! I think I need at least another week for it to seem a little more real to me!

merryberry · 03/07/2007 12:36

aaah, here we go:

upchucks nos 1 (in public) and 2 (in blissful privacy), like you said connor () due to getting too hungry and being away from snacks.

better org needed. and a swift lie down.

yergh.

siennammm · 03/07/2007 14:16

connor, sorry to hear that you suffered the same as me - every morning I wake up, I am just so frightened that its going to rear its ugly head - I think if I get to 6 weeks and its not here, then I might have got away with it - so a few days to go - I had it after 3 weeks with my son, and much worse than I had it with my daughter - but was still hospitalised with both. I dont think I will cope if I get it as Molly is only 10 months and dh had to deal with Josh last time - only knows how he would cope if he had to look after both!! Everything crossed for both of us hun X

sweetkitty · 03/07/2007 15:00

connor - I have told some friends but no family. I don't really get on with my Mum so am dreading telling her as I know she will not be pleased (sad long story) Last time she was horrified and DP's mum said he should get some condoms. WTF we have been together 12 years, both have degrees and we have our own house, it's our choice to have more children it's not they help out or anything! Sorry mini rant over

Sienna - will keep everything crossed for you Re; the morning sickness. I just go off food completely from about 6-7 weeks until 13weeks. Think I was only sick once with both of them so not bad although the feeling sick at the thought of food isn't too good. I remember Dairylea sandwiches not making me feel ill of all things.

derah · 03/07/2007 16:32

Yawn, stretch, just woke up from afternoon nap. Here we go with the tiredness!! Which is fine today when I have a little free time, but the rest of the week won't be pretty. Work all day (on my feet), then home, walk the dogs, make food for/feed dd, clean house, make supper etc etc... it's exhasting when I'm not pg!! Ugh. Very happy that I'm pg, but also not happy cos let's face it, it isn't really much fun!!

derah · 03/07/2007 16:41

Sweetkitty, I'm so sorry you don't have a good relationship with your or DP's family. That must hurt particularly at a time like this when you want to share happy news with everyone.

Oh, and MerryBerry and Sweetkitty, I've been meaning to ask you... you had a chat about food microbiology before I joined the group... are you both biologists to? I'm a microbiologist working for the VLA. Heh heh, gonna have to stop working with the nasty chemicals now - never did like going near them!!

ConnorTraceptive · 03/07/2007 16:44

apparently the earlier the sickness starts the worse it tends to be or so i was told last time, so am hoping that if i don't get it as early as i did before then it won't be as bad.

like you said fingers crossed!

Soory to hear your family weren't too supportive sweetkitty i'm expecting a couple of negative comments from MIL as this one wasn't planned but I won't take it personally I think she just has a daily quota she has to reach

3madboys · 03/07/2007 17:21

afternoon all i have spent the whole day feeling rather sick and faint! 5 people in town asked me if i was ok today as did ds2's teacher at school, i had to lie and yes as we arent telling people yet!
i am going to try and wait till after my first scan and then tell people tho i have told two close friends!!

hope you are all well and congratulations to those who have newly joined the list.

lauzie · 03/07/2007 18:09

WOW I am sooooo tired!

I had one bout of nausea today but that was it- i didn't get m/s with ds till 8 weeeks and I'm only between 4+1 and 5+2. I seem to be getting a bit tight waist banded as well and that only started at 6+ weeks.

I have also had a bad back for a week.

I did have two embryos replaced so I am starting to wonder....

How's everyone else getting on?

softmusk · 03/07/2007 18:27

timmyinatizzy · 03/07/2007 19:07

Hello everyone, (timmy waves madly). Been lurking for a few days but thought it was now time to say hello.

I got my BFP last Friday after dp bought me a test cos I was complaining of stomach cramps for 3 days and was 6 days late. I am very excited as its my first, so I have no idea what emotions the next 8 months or so will hold.

Saw my gp yesterday and by her calculations my edd is 2 March 2008 (hi siennammm my due date buddy!)

We've only told my mum and dad so far, but planning on telling dp parents this weekend. dp already has 2 twin dd's aged 8, who actually live with us. Can't believe how tired I am feeling already. I'll add myself onto the list when I get a mo.

derah · 03/07/2007 19:12

Hi Timmy! Welcome to the group and congrats on your bfp!!

ConnorTraceptive · 03/07/2007 19:26

yes definately feeling abit snug in my clothes which i'm quite gutted about as i got to 5 months with ds before buying maternity wear (although did throw up constantly for four months)

Have to say i'm dying to tell someone or buy something, not sure i'll last til march

timmyinatizzy · 03/07/2007 19:42

I know how you feel Connor. I want to tell everyone, but I'm concious that it is still very early. I'm only 5 +3 weeks. I want to wait until the first scan before I go and use a loud hailer and tell everyone.

derah · 03/07/2007 19:44

Gosh but isn't 12 weeks a lifetime away? (not to mention 40 weeks!!!!!) I haven't even got to 4 weeks yet! Am 3+5 today (26-day cycle).

Plus at the same time we'll have to tell them that our holiday to Florida at the end of Dec beginning of Jan will have to be postponed . But it means that we will go in October 2008 and take the little un with us.

waiting4bambino · 03/07/2007 20:50

Congratulations Timmy and Connor! When the sick feeling has gone (usually when eating!) its a great feeling isnt it?!
I was looking at my body in the mirror this morning, noticing my belly looks a little rounder! Although that may be all the food i ate on hols!! Also i noticed some changes to my boobs! They don't really look bigger but the nipples do! You know the bobbly bits around the nipple, there seems to more bobbles, and DH says its Braille for "suck me!".

It does sometimes feel like period pains for me, i keep expecting to go to the loo and see my AF, but obviously i hope that's not the case.

Anyone watch Maternity Ward on Sky? I watched one last night where the woman was having her 15th child! Now that is crazy! Who on earth needs that much work and stress on the body! It's so amazing though, i can't help but shed a tear when the babies are born! And its really informative (and sometimes scary) cos it shows you all the things that can possibly go wrong, but how they can be rectified too. There's rarely a bad ending thankfully.

Well, since my hols i've been back to work now and only told the bare minimum of people, but i want to shout it out so much! Over the years I've worked there, there's been so many babies and I've always thought, when is it gonna be me?! Now that it is, i have to keep it a secret for another 6 weeks! Or until they guess, the rate i'm eating!

I'm so glad i can come on here and read all about your symptoms, its been ages since anyone in my family has had a baby that when i ask them, they say they can't remember! Wont it be mad when we're doing the write up of what happened at the birth! That seems like a long way away now!

Anyway, good luck to all, take it easy, stock up on ginger beer and ginger biscuits! xx

siennammm · 03/07/2007 20:58

congratulations Timmy, thats great news and your first too - even more exciting - its certainly a journey, that you will never forget - a life changing experience - enjoy every second hun!!! i have really bad heartburn tonight and feel like really bloated too - and god yeah, isnt it sooooo long till the 12 week scan - I am 5+2 today and it feels like a lifetime away ... X

sweetkitty · 03/07/2007 21:31

Evening all wow it's really filling up in here and we aren't even at those due the second half of March yet, I reckon there's going to be loads of us.

Timmy - welcome and congratulations on your BFP, it certainly is going to be a magical 8 or so months for you, sit back and enjoy the ride

Sienna - about the heartburn I usually get it quite late as the baby pushes my stomach up to my neck

W4B - just you wait until those bobbles start oozing stuff lol, they are actually for cleaning your nipple I believe! I used to watch all the shows on Sky too the US ones are mad, all gowned up with masks and everything, drips the minute you are in labour, on your back loads of medics there and usually about 10 members of the family too - yuck!

softmusk - sorry to hear about your sickness

lauzie - are you having an early scan I heard somewhere they give you an early scan with IVF in case it's etopic?

3madboys - sorry to hear about your sickness too must be hard with 3 boys to look after too

dreah - another microbiologist yey although I haven't really been a microbiologist for 3 years. I used to work in a food testing lab then moved to London to work for a very well known retailer in the food safety/auditing side so got out the lab and into a suit. Did a fair bit of travelling all over Europe and the UK as well. So what exactly do you do? What's the nasty chemicals? I always remember we had at least 3 pregnant women in the lab and they couldn't go near anything to do with Listeria or any of the antibiotics/agar supplements.

My friends were winding me up today that:

a) I'm having twins or
b) the baby will be 12lbs 3ozs (on the basis DD1 was 6lbs 3ozs and DD2 9lbs 3ozs) but DD2s birth was the easier. 2 1/2 hours start to finish homebirth not a stitch (first timers look away now) hurt like hell though. Have told DP am being induced at 38 weeks with this one epidural the works, having had 2 drug free labours think I'm owed!

softmusk · 03/07/2007 21:48

thanks sweetkitty

my dp keeps winding me up saying i will have a big baby as dd2 was 1 and half pound bigger than dd1 if that the case i on course for a 10lb baby

but i keep winding him up and tell him i am sure its more than one baby more like quads

bless him

lauzie · 03/07/2007 21:56

Yes I will be having an early scan, did with ds too, although he was iui not ivf. Think it will probably be around the 19th July. Find out how many there is in there!

sweetkitty · 03/07/2007 22:03

3madboys · 03/07/2007 22:05
