Due March 2008 - is it real?

Oh my. Have name changed as I feel like a wee bit of a muppet for coming here while a bit uncertain. Will change back when I know one way or t'other for sure.

Was lurking over a cafe buffet this morning with DS, utterly unable to decide what I wanted to have for lunch. Told myself I'd have the chips but that they would probably taste metallic. Remembered how last night all the food in the house was unappealing, except two corn on the cob (?!).

Penny then dropped, though our TTC last month consisted I thought of getting it on magnificently before and after fertile time. Whipped into Boots for a 1st response after figuring I am 3 days pre-AF. Just got a faint but-its-there positive. BBC website says due date is 1st March.

Anyone else yet? I will not tell dp until the line is brighter for point and show effect, so will probably re-test Friday am. I will be keeping my news, if this really is news, virtual apart from twlling him for as long as possible, as I'm older, my thyroid is knackered and my miscarriage and anomaly risks are high.

Other than that, I am having a little smile:

ow82 · 15/07/2007 20:23

lol. I deffo am! lol. did a bunch of tests - it's an addiction for seeing 2 lines I swear! lol.

spugs · 15/07/2007 20:25

I know im so glad just want them to get nice and dark now. Was initially worried id have probs getting pg but now stressing about another mc. Keep on having to tell my self that the last one was just bad luck and fingers crossed all should be fine this time.

derah · 15/07/2007 20:32

Ah, Access Diagnostic tests. Yup, those are the ones I used and didn't get a 'real' positive until a week after af was due. I'd agree with OW, go get a CBD and then there's no worrying about how dark the line is!

Mmmmm, baby wants chocolate milk this week.....

ow82 · 15/07/2007 20:42

I was only just asking if it's too ealr yto be blaming the baby for making me eat 3/4 of a big cake

merryberry · 15/07/2007 20:52

classic derah - you will have to wait til dd brings first serious bf home after giving the usual teenage grief and then REVENGE!fondly tell the big boy pants story

waiting4bambino, thrilled to hear all ok with your pg. Sorry to hear the NHS being its usual self. Having worked in it, I find expecting poor management (improper cover for an epu), rank/no food and conflicting, thoughtless or even absent diagnoses is a given for me. Then it all goes uphill from there. Usually. SIgh. I go past the portland once a week on the bus. Wish I could join you there. Or anywhere with indivualised care and the chance of food during/after labour. Shame it can't be at home really, but there you go.

Rambling now. Stop!! Congratulations to all new joiners here.

merryberry · 15/07/2007 20:53

ow82, no the cake was my fault, but I blame you for my choosing lasagna and chips (with obligatory folic-y cabbage) for my dinner.

derah · 15/07/2007 20:58

Merryberry - I got photos too! DD on her potty with big boy pants round her knees, plus my shoes on and holding a book upside- down. That one is definitely being trotted out at her 21st!!

ow82 · 15/07/2007 21:29

why did I mention that? ooh I could just eat lasagna and garlic bread! lol.

3madboys · 15/07/2007 21:58

evening all, please stop talking about food or i will throw up all over my keyboard. i have spent most of the wkend in bed, leaving dp to deal with the boys and i still feel like hell. i am so tired its untrue and i feel so pukey that i am having to force myself to eat. i weighed myself today and i have lost 6lbs in just under a week. i am not too worried about it as i was the same with the boys, but i am getting very fed up of feeling like crap. and dp just told me he has to go away for three days next week i am going to arrange for a friend to come round and help me out with the boys one of the days, as i cant face three days on my own

sweetkitty · 15/07/2007 23:29

hi everyone just checking in for today

w4b - that's great news about the "dot" shame about the horrendous hospital. I hate hospitals with a passion between the inedible food/lack of sleep from other people making noise/ the heat in Summer cold in Winter/ dodgy at best hygiene it's not condusive with making people feel better or helping with the first precious few days with a newborn. I always remember the day after DD1 was born in floods of tears begging DP to get me out of here.

derah - well done to your DD on the potty training

3mb - so sorry to hear you are feeling so rough, hope it passes soon for you.

spugs - I'm another one who should have shares in CBD's. With DD2 I had 3 negatives but no AF with ebay cheapies, got a CBD and got a BFP. With this one DB3 I was testing 5 days before AF was due, got 2 very very faint positives with Asda cheapies then got a BFP with CBD 2 days before AF due. I love them, it's seeing the big "Pregnant" much better than 2 lines. Go treat yourself tomorrow

Think the hormones have kicked in here DD2 tripped and fell down about 4 stairs today and got a fright and was crying, she was OK in about 15 seconds I sobbed for a good half hour. DD1 was great in her big girl bed last night too.

DontlookatmeImshy · 16/07/2007 05:34

Well here I am again, wide awake at silly-oclock am so decided to come down and do some mn'ing instead of bouncing around trying to get comfy/asleep in bed.

ConnorTraceptive · 16/07/2007 09:38

hi 3mb sorry you are feeling rubbish i feel pretty terrible too house is wrecked and i just want to go to bed.
have had to cancel a job i was going to do tonight so that's money down the drain to

derah · 16/07/2007 10:19

Oh dear, all hormonal. Just watched a long lost pet being reunited with its owners on TV and burst into tears.

3madboys · 16/07/2007 11:39

i keep watching those birth and maternity prog, bad idea, i alternate between screaming at the tv for the way american births seem to be handled, flat on back comletely medicalised etc. and then i burts into tears every time a baby is born, after shouting at the tv for the way they stick a little suction thingy up the babies nose etc straight away.

my hormones have gone into overdrive.

i actually feel slightly less pukey today and i have discovered that fruity flavoured chewy sweets, seem to alleviate my sickness they are prob not so good for my teeth tho. hoo humm, if they stop me feeling sick thats all i care.

now as i feel slightly better i need to play catch up wit the housework

derah · 16/07/2007 12:08

Morning 3mb. Got to agree with you about American births. It's all doctors and machines that go ping. Glad I don't live over there. Glad the sweets are helping and you feel better today.

ow82 · 16/07/2007 19:04

lol. 3mb.

kitty - glad DD was ok - hope you managed to ahve a strong brew after.

dlat - did you get back to sleep? my DH got up at 5.45 today to be in work for 6.30 was ment to be away all week - he came back at 11am - I was rather put out as i'd not tidied the house at all! lol. anyhow.

to hear everyone's hormonal - not sure if mine are out in force today or not, DS had a fall this am leaving a bump on his head, in tescos this afternoon the lady says - oh dear we ahve been in the walls today - to DS, I say hmm yes he did that this am. she says back, oh i'll suspect he did it with one of his toys (looking a tthe old dear behind me) me - no actually he's developed a love of climbing and fell. lady hmmmm. I left feeling rather upset and thinking she might as well jsut have come out and said I don't believe you, I think you are harming your child. i'm sure that's what she said to the lady behind me after I left. paranoia I know.

anyhow dr's tomorrow at 10.40 so fingers crossed - do you have to take a sample?

HayleyS · 16/07/2007 19:56

Can I join!? - BBC calendar says I am due 6 March but trying not to get excited as I am worried that it is not real. It has been confirmed by doctor and have an appointment on Friday - but not sure what for! This will be our first and we are both thrilled but haven't told anyone else yet!

ow82 · 16/07/2007 20:09

yes course you can come on in congratualtions. enjoy your first as it's a really special time. the dr's apt for me was jsut the whole hiya how are you, weight BP etc and also confirming due dates - he didn't retest as he said the CB's were as good as theirs. then you get booked in wiht the m/w.

spugs · 16/07/2007 20:15

Im seeing my doc thursday, all they ever do is tell me my due date and send me oof to make a midwifes appointment. Im going to anoy them this time and ask for an early scan though . they are apparently very reluctant to scan you before 12 weeks unless it all goes tits up or youve had more then 3 mcs.Want to check that all is fine though and cant find anywhere that takes private patiant round me.

ow82 · 16/07/2007 20:16

same as spugs - apparently thou as i've had 2 m/c's then DS I don't think i'll get one - even thou i'm not 100% on dates.

monthlymayhem · 16/07/2007 20:16

Hello Ladies. Would you mind if I join you? Got my BFP this morning, BBC calculator has estimated dd of 21st Mar '08, but this was only my second cycle after stopping pill so not sure how accurate that will end up being. This is my first pg so have absolutely no idea what to expect! Have had no symptoms except for sore boobs up until now, although today have started to feel slightly sicky, but not sure if that's just because I'm excited after BFP this morning! Am quite tired (but then always am on a Monday!).

Have started to try and read what you should/shouldn't eat and was gutted to find feta cheese is on the bad list - I normally live on it (usually with a glass of wine in hand)

timmyinatizzy · 16/07/2007 20:16

Hello to all the newbies. Spugs have you re-tested today? Any darker lines yet???

Been really busy since Friday and only just caught up with everyone. My tireness seems to come and go. no morning sickness here either (touch wood), just a bloated stomach. Went to a wedding reception on Saturday and everywhere I looked there were pregnant ladies!! It must be this seasons new look

3mb - hope the tiredness eases up for you and you can get a friend to help. I don't envy you with 3 young boys. Thought i had my hands full with 2, 8 going on 16 year old girls!!

ow82 - you should've told the lady to get her nose out of your business! bet your ds has a lovely egg on his head now. You should see the bruises on my dsd's legs, they look awful but they're from their bikes!

connor - sorry you had to cancel a job. Can you reschedule?

sweetkitty & derah - potty training, I suppose that a whole new thread!!!!

w4b - glad to hear that everything is ok with your little bean. Although not glad to hear the crap time you had at the hospital.

sweetkitty · 16/07/2007 21:25

welcome monthlymayhem and hayleys - congratulations on your BFP's, both your first babies too, what a rollercoaster you are in for no seriously it's fab, loads of great advice on mumsnet too that will keep you sane.

ow82 - my DD1 was always covered in bruises the worst was when she fell head first over the sofa onto her pram (I wasn't there at the time) but came downstairs to find blood pouring from her face and DP white. Two nasty gashes I thought she would need plastic surgery but they faded away. Everyone used to ask what she had done and make you feel like a bad mother.

monthlymayhem - forgot to mention the feta cheese thing why? I was a food microbiologist pre DDs and feta is so salty that there is no way Listeria could survive in it nevermind grow. I had some for dinner tonight and it was yummy. The only cheeses you have to avoid are the mould ripened unpasteurised ones like Brie, Camembert etc.

3mb - you are so like me with the Discovery Health births they drive me up the wall, the Doctor all gowned up with a mask on and everyone counting to 10, about 15 relatives in the room as well. Don't know what your other births were like but mine were fast and furious from the off, I'm not thinking about it right now in denial, hopefully it will be fast and it's just a case of getting through it.

dontlook/skidoodle - I'm the same can't believe I'm pregnant again I feel like going to get a test just to be sure. Won't be saying that at 30 weeks when everything hurts, can't move, am being booted in the ribs every 5 minutes and drinking Gaviscon by the bucketload.

I was thinking today though about cuddling a little floppy headed newborn and got all gooey. I just hope all broodiness leaves me as soon as this one is born and our family feels complete.

spugs · 16/07/2007 21:28

i retested with a cheapy and the line was definitly darker so i am now leaving well alone. Its either that or madness just want to hurry up and get to 12 wks have scan and everything be hunky dory then ill be able to chill a bit i think Seems like forever away though (begining os september .

Hows everyone feeling this evening anyway - missing the vino? Im not doing to badly considering no alcohol, fags or caffine! must just know its good for me i suppose, havent tried to murder husband or anything. yet

derah · 16/07/2007 21:37

Ooh, it's all happening on here now after a quiet day!

Welcome to Hayley, good to see someone else with their name as a nickname. I was starting to think I was the only one here!

And welcome to Monthlymayhem too! Do you know why feta isn't allowed? I know mould-ripened cheeses are out, and cheese from unpasturised milk, but you can get pasturised feta so that should be OK.

Sweetkitty, meant to say earlier, hope DD is Ok after her all. And well done to other DD for being happy in her big bed. I think my DD is overdosing on big girl stuff! We've been getting her off bottles for her milk and she's been fine with a cup so far, but now we're potty training too she wants her bottle back and we've been having huge tantrums and cups of milk flung far and wide!

Dontlook - hope you got a nap in to make up for such an early morning! DD woke us up at 6 today and we didn't get much sleep after that. I was hoping it would be one of her dozy days and I'd get to sleep in. Good luck with the potty training once you decide to start. It hasn't been as bad as I thought so far, want to join me?

ow82 - I was wondering about taking a sample to the docs myself since one thing I remember about prev pg was always forgetting to take my sample with me and having to provide one in the surgery! But I think that's just with the mw and docs don't do much at this stage.

Spugs - glad you got a darker line, now make sure you take your own advice now and leave well enough alone! But I agree that 12 weeks can't some soon enough!

Right, off to clean up the kitchen and flop on the sofa zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
