Due March 2008 - is it real?

Oh my. Have name changed as I feel like a wee bit of a muppet for coming here while a bit uncertain. Will change back when I know one way or t'other for sure.

Was lurking over a cafe buffet this morning with DS, utterly unable to decide what I wanted to have for lunch. Told myself I'd have the chips but that they would probably taste metallic. Remembered how last night all the food in the house was unappealing, except two corn on the cob (?!).

Penny then dropped, though our TTC last month consisted I thought of getting it on magnificently before and after fertile time. Whipped into Boots for a 1st response after figuring I am 3 days pre-AF. Just got a faint but-its-there positive. BBC website says due date is 1st March.

Anyone else yet? I will not tell dp until the line is brighter for point and show effect, so will probably re-test Friday am. I will be keeping my news, if this really is news, virtual apart from twlling him for as long as possible, as I'm older, my thyroid is knackered and my miscarriage and anomaly risks are high.

Other than that, I am having a little smile:

Hello Angua and welcome!! Congrats to you and Corporal Carrot on the BFP!!

ConnorTraceptive · 14/07/2007 19:05

Congrats winky and angua

Actually angua I remember you from the hen night thread if my poor memory serves me correctly. Although I was someone else back in those days

Derah: I had to sucumb to the chip craving and considering how pukey i've been feeling they were fab fab fab!!!!

derah · 14/07/2007 19:32

Mmmmmm, chips!!

Tonight is pizza night for us. We make our own from scratch every Friday night, but DH was working late last night so we're doing pizza tonight instead. And we make 2 so we have pizza for lunch tomorrow too! YUM!!

Funny how we're all craving vinegar though! I'm going to Google that and see if it's common.....

derah · 14/07/2007 19:36

Yup, found loads of hits for vinegar cravings, especially in the early stages. Wonder what's in there that we need?

Mmmmmm, chips and vinegar....... I only buy the stuff to wash DD's nappies!!

Lcy · 14/07/2007 19:43

Oh guys - i have just read the thread and all i can think about is chips and viniger from the fish and chip shop - but no fish - the thought of fish makes me queasy.

I am usaully a sweet tooth but i am craving carbohydrates. I have a wedding to go to in three weeks - hope i fit in my beautiful coast dress.

Hello all newbies

skidoodle · 14/07/2007 20:36

welcome winkygirl and angua

can't believe there are dates at the end of March up now. I guess time is moving on.

Should I be worried about a lack of symptoms? other than extreme tiredness (which could be just extreme laziness) and some cramping (which is definitely abating) and very, very mild nausea very occasionally (also abating), I feel pretty much as normal.

I've stopped believing i'm pg at all.

derah - homemade pizza - yum! my DH is making curry, which I love and I made a healthy indianish salad to go with.

Lcy - this is my first too and I'm going to go the hospital route, will just feel more relaxed about it this way. good luck with the home birth, that's great that they're supportive if your area.

sweetkitty · 14/07/2007 20:52

Evening all

Welcome and congratulations to winkygirl and angua

skidoodle - I know what you mean apart from the off bit of nausea and a bloated tum I don't feel pregnant at all yet.

w4b - thinking of you today hope everything is ok

derah - how has the potty training went today I remember it well with DD1, she was so frustrating she would go 4 days being dry then pee 5 times in one day.

All this talk of food is making me really hungry although we had a lovely lunch today for DP's birthday. Have also taken the bars off DD1's cot as she is 3 in a week and thought it was time she had a "big girl bed" she's never tried to climb out so we have just left them on. Am waiting for her to be up and running around her room.

big hello to everyone else hope your having a good weekend x

Lcy · 14/07/2007 20:53

Hi skidoodle - enjoy your curry.

ow82 · 14/07/2007 22:22

kitty - will you stop talking of bloated tums! lol. i'm sure my jeans are tighter allready! lol. they no longer fall down without the belt

doodle - (sounds nicer than skid! lol) I ahve lack of symptoms as well - am thinking they'll either come thick/fast or not at all. so watch this space with DS I didn't really have anything.

lcy - I find carbs stop me feeling sick. esp if eaten every couple of hours in the morning. (thats my excuse anyhow and i'm sticking to it! lol)

congrats angua/winky.

potion - not sure of things to do up there - flamingo land? walks in the lakes?

anyhow not much happening here- the hormones have been out in force - crying at angle have you ever heard alike? lol. had chicken/chips for tea had about 4 mouthfuls and felt sick so had an apple instead. hoping my fast food thing doesn't happen again as with DS I could only have salads and fruit for the first tri as everyhting cooked made me feel sick.

derah · 14/07/2007 22:41

Skidoodle, I've got no symptoms either, except for the tiredness thing. Makes it very hard to believe I'm preggers.

Actually, I was at the supermarket today and saw some preggie women, and found myself jealous before I realised I didn't have to be!!

Sweetkitty - potty training went surprisingly well... two puddles on the floor this morning but all in the potty in the afternoon. I'm sure tomorrow will be a disaster! She's very proud of her 'big girl pants' (though they're actually big boy pants - supermarket was out of girl's ones!), and loves the stickers she gets for a successful potty filling. So hopefully it will all go OK.

Right, I'm up far too late.... must go to bed!

skidoodle · 14/07/2007 22:55

ow, derah, good to know I'm not alone in the lack of symptoms. guess I should be grateful - some people seem to have a really rough time of it.

omg that's so cute about the big girl pants really being big boy pants LOL

ConnorTraceptive · 15/07/2007 10:46

hi all feeling pretty sick and not very positive i'm afraid
Yesterday wasn't so bad so was hoping i would get through this time with out much trouble but today i feel awful

waiting4bambino · 15/07/2007 10:51

I'm back! It's been an eventful 2 days! Went to docs as you know, he felt my stomach etc and rang the EPU at the hospital, and sent me there. I didnt expect to stay in, so of course, had nothing with me! They did an internal there, took bloods and gave me a scan! I saw the baby! I couldnt believe it! Well, i say i saw it, i saw a dot! But it was still good!

However, as this was Friday evening, they did not have fully qualified staff (!) there and although they could tell me the pg was in the womb and not ectopic, they couldnt tell me anything else. I thought i might hear the heartbeat but they just kept repeating that they weren't qualified (there was a bit of a language barrier, as they were Indian and their english was not great). Then the doctor said that i couldnt go home as my temp was so high, so i was taken to a ward. Well, i've stayed in hospital before and i couldnt believe this time how poor it seemed! It was really cold, so they gave me an extra blanket that smelled of old folk, and they brought me a tiny sandwich (i was starving by this point) and a jug of lukewarm water. Then I called DH at work to let him know that i was staying in....

As I had no clothes with me and wanted to preserve my knickers for the next morning, i then had to wear one of their lovely nighties! The following morning, at 730, they brought me a knife fork and spoon and i thought, at last, a cooked breakfast! An hour and a half later, they gave me some cold toast! I was outraged! I need quite a bit to eat and that was just taking the p! They took my temp again, and said i may be able to go later, then just before dinner, said that i could go! Start packing up, doc comes again and says that i can't go due to temp! So i have to eat dinner there! By this point, my hair looked terrible, i looked like i'd slept rough!! And the food was awful! I can't describe it to you! Finally, at 9pm!!! they decided i could go home, and boy was i glad!

They still don't know what the pains were, however, i suggested they were similar to gastroenteritis and so they said, yes, its that! Have to go back on Monday for another scan which i'm pleased about as qualified staff will be there this time plus DH will get to see the "dot"!! All in all, i'm over the moon that its not an EP, however, still feel slightly worried about what the pains were and if they'll come back. And I'm definitely not looking forward to going back for the birth! If only I could afford the Portland!

Thank you all for being concerned for me! I guess I will just be having a sicky, twingy few months and i will be asking you all about every symptom! Off to eat now!

derah · 15/07/2007 11:18

w4b - so glad you and bean are OK, but OMG!! What a shocking hospital you have! Are there no others nearby that you could go to instead? I mean, if they have underqualified staff on the weekend and you go into labour then, well, it doesn't bear thinking about! I'm really shocked. Are there no birthing centres or anything better in your area? Can't believe they don't even feed you!!

derah · 15/07/2007 11:19

Sorry you're feeling so rough, Connor. Is dp around to pamper you and give you some time off today?

ow82 · 15/07/2007 11:48

connor- be good to yourself and chil on the sofa if you can today.

wb4 - OMG - agree if there's another hospital you can go to I'd go there - that treatment is awful - were you on the maternity ward? ask about on here what the hospitasl is like for anti/pre natal care and see if there's any others that other mums recommend. I know our EPU at our old hospital wasn't up to much but the maternity unit was excellent. (is it too late to start bupa cover lol)

derah- love the big boy pants lol.

AnguaVonUberwald · 15/07/2007 15:28

Connortraceptive, I was the one with the hen night thread. Don't know what your previous name was, did you come?

I think I am around 4 weeks (35 day cycle, on day 34) but am totally exhausted today, as in slept for most of the afternoon.

Isn't it too early for me to be being tired?

ConnorTraceptive · 15/07/2007 15:49

w4b: great news that you are ok, shame about the hospital stay though

Derah & Ow: feeling a little better dh has kept ds amused all day and let me sleep and generally do nothing. Have been managing to eat a bit and keep it down but my throw is very sore and i have headache so maybe i'm just under the weather. oh joy!

Angua: wasn't at your hen do unfortunately too far away, glad you had a good night though

spugs · 15/07/2007 17:21

Hiya, i retested this am (36 hrs after the first) and it hasnt got any darker! Still positive but still light!! Should i be worried do you think?

derah · 15/07/2007 17:54

Hi Spugs. What tests are you using? I did an experiment with my cheapies and carried on testing up to a week after af was due. From about 3 days to 7 days, it didn't get any darker and was still nowhere near as dark as the control line. As long as it's positive, that's all that counts! Now stop messing with your head and no more testing!!

weeonion · 15/07/2007 18:02

wow , sorry to jump on this thread but it it kinda blows my mind to see the due in march 08 thread. we were the due in april 07 thread!! all our babies are now getting big - having their first jabs and providing hours of amusement and fret in equal measure. good luck to you all - rest up plenty and enjoy the months ahead

spugs · 15/07/2007 18:37

I was using acssess diagnostics strips but only got a hint of a line so used a cheap as chips asda test today and on friday and got faint positives. Might try again in a week or so (though dont think ill be able to avoid weeing on a stick for that long)

ow82 · 15/07/2007 19:31

agree with derah spugs - a lines a line, not that i'm one to talk - I had one of those cheapo tests on ebay, and got annoyed with the whole holding to the light, is the line there isn't it - you know what I mean! lol. so instead went to the chemist got a CB digital, and then there was no messing - a dribble (literally) of pee me walking off expecting a BFN and 50yds down the road it was a BFP - the shock on my face at the garage must have said it all! lol. i'm sure it's a def pos but get he digital! lol. I love the digtials - also fwiw I didn't have a darker line - much darker until about a week after my first BFP.

ow82 · 15/07/2007 19:33

seriously you'd think I had shares in CB the way I recommend them, but for me it's a cheapo test (don't wanna waste £15 unless you have to! lol. then a CB if there's a hint of a pos!)

spugs · 15/07/2007 20:22

Just did crappy diagnostics test again and line definitly more there then on fri, on fri was just a shadow and had to be tilted back and forth at window. Now have a nice (faint) line. Yay were all mad arent we? Think i may not be quite as pregers as i thought i was though due to the faintness of line. Am feeling a tad bit queasy though which would fit in with what i think i am though so time will tell i suppose. As long as all is fine i dont mind

How is every one any way after that particularly long ramble.
