Due March 2008 - is it real?

Oh my. Have name changed as I feel like a wee bit of a muppet for coming here while a bit uncertain. Will change back when I know one way or t'other for sure.

Was lurking over a cafe buffet this morning with DS, utterly unable to decide what I wanted to have for lunch. Told myself I'd have the chips but that they would probably taste metallic. Remembered how last night all the food in the house was unappealing, except two corn on the cob (?!).

Penny then dropped, though our TTC last month consisted I thought of getting it on magnificently before and after fertile time. Whipped into Boots for a 1st response after figuring I am 3 days pre-AF. Just got a faint but-its-there positive. BBC website says due date is 1st March.

Anyone else yet? I will not tell dp until the line is brighter for point and show effect, so will probably re-test Friday am. I will be keeping my news, if this really is news, virtual apart from twlling him for as long as possible, as I'm older, my thyroid is knackered and my miscarriage and anomaly risks are high.

Other than that, I am having a little smile:

lcy - you'll always find good BF advice on MN - tbh I was ready to stop after about 3 weeks but these girls kept me going on and I finally stopped at 9 months. a good support network is essential I find for good BF - along with a good latch pillow and cream! lol.

Lcy · 13/07/2007 18:58

Hi ow82 - i am the first of my friends locally to have a baby so i expect i will be getting alot of advice of Mumsnet!

I must admit after last weekends scare i have done a couple of pregnancy tests cos i keep thinking maybe im not pregnant anymore - thought i would of left that behind on the conception thread!

ow82 · 13/07/2007 19:01

but shhhh! lol. and wiht DS I did one at 19 weeks after having kicks and a scan! lol. it's natural to worry fear not there. don't forget your M/w's as well for BF support - mine were fantastic for it the h/v however wasn't so good but the m/w's were fab. is your DH/P supportive as well?

Lcy · 13/07/2007 19:11

My DH is wonderful and is being very supportive already (so still in honeymoon period) - im a lucky girl.

Do you have children? If so did you do home or hospital births?

merryberry · 13/07/2007 19:47

fanbloodytastic news, lcy x

ow82 · 13/07/2007 19:48

I have one ds of 16 months going on 16 eyars at hte mo! lol. he was a hospital birth, good job in the end as he needed the photo box thingy for his jaunuce. was nice to be able to get the BF etc sorted out and have the confidence before coming home.

you came back from your honeymoon pg didn't you? it's the sea air I tell you! lol.

Lcy · 13/07/2007 19:57

Thanks MerryBerry. How are you doing?

Is anyone on here planning a home birth?

derah · 13/07/2007 20:30

I am!! Hospitals suck!

Lcy · 13/07/2007 20:34

A friend of mine has had 3 great homebirths. Whilst all my friends who have had hospital biths have had alot of intervention. Midwifes round here are very supportive of home birth even for a first. Have been doing some reading and think i will request one (but keep an open mind incase it is not possible).

ow82 · 13/07/2007 21:00

i'd like to I think - I wanted one with DS but DH went all PFB on me and said no, here the local hospital is a half hour drive so will be guided by my m/w's - hoping next time not to need anythign abr G&A - i'm sure half the reason the labour was so long as the epidural/laying down - was good I managed to get in some sleep thou. we'll see nearer the time I think how things pan out - with 2 dogs might not be a good idea for a home birth as they'll be likly to howl the house down louder than I do. lol.

sweetkitty · 13/07/2007 21:58

oh loads to catch up on tonight

ow82 - hiya DD2 will be 2.2months when DB is born so when DB is about 6 months she will be about 2.8 months and probably wanting to walk a bit this is why I want a P&T she can hop on and off the back seat as she feels (or when I need to contain her).

Lcy - glad to hear you are feeling better, I would second the BFing advice on mumsnet it's fab just to be able to ask "is this normal" at any time of night. I had a homebirth with DD2 and hopefully if all goes to plan will be having a homebirth with DB3. I don't think I would have been brave enough to have one with my first as you just don't know how'll you cope and also sometimes you just don't dilate etc

spugs - hiya and congratulations

w4b - hope you are doing OK???

connor - I think feeling pants just goes with the first trimester. I read somewhere that your hormones double every 24 hours and it sends everything a bit haywire.

I had a complete crash at about 3pm today felt totally whacked and very sick, put cbeebies on threw megablocks on the floor and lay on the sofa. Forced some pasta down for dinner and it seems to have helped as it's gone now. Stomach is so swollen, it's mostly about an inch both sides of my belly button so jeans etc still fit. DP on holiday for next 2 weeks noe just wish this rain would stop and the sun come out, it's so depressing. We aren't having a proper holiday which is my idea of hell with a 3yo and a 18mo so will just have lots of daytrips. Our family never babysit so we never get some time off either

3madboys · 13/07/2007 22:17

evening everyone

i am feeling really pukey, it is always worse when i am tired, and i have had the kids on my own for the last 48hrs as dp had to do two extra shifts at work i have no idea how single parent do it, i am in awe

i have gone off chocolate and sweet things totally, which is completely bizarre for me, but have been craving corn chips and salsa dip, all very odd.

other than the two youngest being a bit poorly, life is good tho, i just want to have my scan and see that all is well,

dp sent me a txt today asking how the 5 of us were, i was like 5?? then i realised he was including the bump

DontlookatmeImshy · 14/07/2007 07:44

Morning ladies. Well the insomnia had kicked in now. Awake from 3.30-5.30+yesterday and 4.00-5.30 again today. Checked my diary for when I was having ds andit started at exactly the same time (4w5) with him too, although we still had Sky tv then so I came downstairs and watched all the É>o9/midwife/birth programmes on Discovery etc lol.

w4b- How did it go at the doctors? Fingers crossed for you that everything is ok.

Spugs - Congratulations and welcome.

Lcy - Gladto hear everything is ok. As the others have saidyou will get lots of fantastic advice here.I'd have probably given up bf'ing around 3-4months if it hadn't been for the advice on mumsnet. We're still going at 21months.

ow82 - how are you feeling today.

Good luck to everyone wanting a homebirth. My Sil had one with her second-saidit was great. No chance for me though , had a crash-sectionlast time.

DontlookatmeImshy · 14/07/2007 07:51

oops not sure where the E>o9 came from, it should have been 'birth', think that was ds's contribution to the conversation when he bashed the keyboard.

spugs · 14/07/2007 08:08

Hiya, its very nice to be here am feeling crap, fairly sick and knackered but couldnt be happier. Its started earlier then with my last pg so fingers crossed. Had horrible dream last night though where i started bleeding. I am well known though for bizarre dreams when pregnant though. Im testing tomorrow to check my lines got darker as my line wasnt as dark as the control and with previous preg they always have been. Anyway Hello to everyone and heres to getting fat and feeling sick

merryberry · 14/07/2007 09:05

[insert smug emoticon]

i have the 'day off' - apart from riot on the bed with ds while dp showering, and having to do lunch en famille. am alone right now JOY! and off to a hen pamper session this pm.

i hope everyone else gets some rest and refreshment this weekend. x

derah · 14/07/2007 10:40

Morning ladies

Enjoy your day off Merryberry. Am v !!

Sorry you're not getting much sleep Dontlook. It must be really hard when you're so tired anyway. How long did it last with your last pg?

3MB - I don't know how single mums cope either. Especially if they work too. Well done for managing to look after 3 on your own when you're so knackered. Make sure DP lets you get some rest when he's home.

I feel really floppy today. After DH and DD got up I fell asleep again for another hour. I had a dull ache in my nether regions most of last night and like you Spugs, I had a dream that I was bleeding. But luckily it was just a dream and all seems well today.

It's weird, I'm still totally in denial that I'm pregnant!!

Anyway, wish me luck for today, we're trying to potty train DD. So the living room rug is rolled up (luckily we have laminate and tiles downstairs!) and the potty is at the ready. So is the bucket of soapy water. So far it's floor 1/potty 0!!! Sigh.....

potionsmakemummyclever · 14/07/2007 10:48

Morning,

Nice to hear that everyone is getting along fine, despite all the hormones etc.

W4B - I think pains like you described can be normal, but it's always good to get things checked out if you are worried. Hope you are ok.

Good to hear that things are going ok for you Lcy.

Welcome and congrats Spugs .

Ow82 - we live in the North West and seem to have exhausted all the country houses/parks. Think local ducks/horses etc will explode if we feed them anymore. Have been saving Blue Planet for a rainy day.

MB - day off?! - have a fab time. We're trying to decide what to do today. Paris, Rome or cleaning out the blocked gutters whilst ds attempts to eat entire contents of muddy flowerbed .

Hope everyone has a great weekend

merryberry · 14/07/2007 11:09

hmm, mind you, my day off has just included about 90 minutes of deep cleaning housework and laundry etc. It's just that being able to fly at it without managing 2 year old munchkin at the same time feels like gleeful freedom. i'm too tired at night with this 1st trimeter weariness to bother making use of him being bed, but the growing grubbiness was beginning to get me down.

ok, off to do paperwork, while remembering fondly weekends where we went away and did stuff (smiling at pmmc)

ConnorTraceptive · 14/07/2007 12:08

hi all glad to see we're all chugging along in our various states of discomfort!

sweetkitty: there has been a lot of ceebies time going on in this house too

3madboys: Have also gone off all things sweet and keep thinking about chips with lots of salt and vinegar. would ceebies and chips today make me too bad a mother though?

spug/derah: how strange i had a dream about bleeding too last night it was very surreal. Think it's cause i had a bath before i went to bed and was worried i'd had it too hot (is there nothing i can enjoy anymore?)

merryberry: enjoy your day off!

W4B: thinking of you hope everything is ok

Well going to the church fete this afternoon so must go and make lunch (ooh or go to chip shop hmmmm)

derah · 14/07/2007 12:29

Connor - mmmmm, chips with vinegar!! I've been getting my laundry malt vinegar out and sploshing on my chips lately! LOL! How odd that 3 of us had the same dream!

I'm another one with lots of cbeebies on lately, especially today as it keeps DD quiet and happy while she sits on the potty.

Still no luck getting her to go in it though.....

WinkyGirl · 14/07/2007 13:54

Hello everyone! I got my BFP on Wednesday and have spent the last few days reading through this thread! Am so pleased to be here having had a mc in March and a chemical pg in June. (Waves at Spugs!! Hello from TTC after MC threads)

just stopping quick before taking DS to the park, just wondered if anyone's heard from w4b?

derah · 14/07/2007 15:41

Welcome Winkygirl! Contrats on your lovely BFP after all the bad news you've had this year. We're very glad you can join us!

Ow - no news from W4B, hope she's OK. A couple of the other girls have disappeared too. I'm worried about Marjoram - I think there's another thread from her on this board and it sounds like things aren't going very well for her. Wish W4B and Marjoram would stop by....

Right, just woken up from nap on the sofa. I really am useless today, but it seems that DH has gone to sleep upstairs (and left me cold and uncomfy on the sofa!? ) and DD is asleep, so I'm going to take myself out to the supermarket.

AnguaVonUberwald · 14/07/2007 17:16

Hello everyone can I join? Been on the TTC after MC thread as MC in January and have waited a while before TTC again, but had a very faint positive yesterday and a much fatter BFP today.

Nice to see you here winkygirl congratulations.
