Due March 2008 - is it real?

Oh my. Have name changed as I feel like a wee bit of a muppet for coming here while a bit uncertain. Will change back when I know one way or t'other for sure.

Was lurking over a cafe buffet this morning with DS, utterly unable to decide what I wanted to have for lunch. Told myself I'd have the chips but that they would probably taste metallic. Remembered how last night all the food in the house was unappealing, except two corn on the cob (?!).

Penny then dropped, though our TTC last month consisted I thought of getting it on magnificently before and after fertile time. Whipped into Boots for a 1st response after figuring I am 3 days pre-AF. Just got a faint but-its-there positive. BBC website says due date is 1st March.

Anyone else yet? I will not tell dp until the line is brighter for point and show effect, so will probably re-test Friday am. I will be keeping my news, if this really is news, virtual apart from twlling him for as long as possible, as I'm older, my thyroid is knackered and my miscarriage and anomaly risks are high.

Other than that, I am having a little smile:

07, can you get yourself straight to the early pregnancy unit at your local hospital? That might be more helpful than waiting for a gp to call you back.

sweetkitty · 08/07/2007 15:01

07mum - how are you now? Agree with derah about going up to your nearest EPU. Will keep everything crossed for you x

I've had a few aches and pains so far too I think it's ligaments stretching and your womb growing too pushing everything out the way. I'm not feeling too great today went swimming with the DDs feel quite weak now so I'm off for a lie down.

merryberry · 08/07/2007 15:48

07mum, i have baited breath and a million good hopes for you.

07mumstheword · 08/07/2007 19:13

Thank you so much for your kind thoughts. Doctor phoned back this morning and has made me an appt at the hospital tomorrow morning (fully booked today) so hopefully will find out whats happening then. Will let you know how i get on.

siennammm · 08/07/2007 19:21

07 just wanted you to know that i am thinking of you hun. XXXX

timmyinatizzy · 09/07/2007 08:43

Wow so much to catch up on. Hello lcy, lisajh, winemakesmummyclever (love the name!) and 07.

07 - hope that everything is ok for today

derah - you must be exhausted after building those wardrobes. Rather you than me!!

3mb - How did the party go? Were the light sabres a success?, they sounded fab

w4b - my doctor said that a nuchal scan is like an early warning scan. But what that means is that it can pick up things that could be wrong with the baby, and give people a chance to decide what to do. It also gives doctors help as now they can do all sorts of amazing things while the baby is still in the womb. Don't mean to sound so negative, but my doctor also said that it reduces the risk in your pregnancy, ie before the scan, over 30's have a one in 100 chance of having problems, but once the nuchal scan is done this increases to one in several hundreds, sometimes thousands. I also believe that the scan can give you a more accurate due date, I think.

I couldn't cope with my achy underwired bras anymore yesterday, so did a lightning raid on john lewis for a couple of non-wired granny-scaffolders instead. oh the blissful comfort i'm in today! in the last few weeks i'd gone from a c cup to a double d! DP said 'woof woof' when I told him, but I just growled and said 'gerroff'. Bit too tender for the time being Also, the name of the bra (doreen, for the love of mike, doreen, ack!) does not make me feel like a glamour puss.

Good luck with the appt today 07. xx

timmyinatizzy · 09/07/2007 08:56

Doreen!

ConnorTraceptive · 09/07/2007 09:23

hi folks

tons of messages since i last came on sorry haven't had time to read them so i hope you are all doing well.

Have felt a bit pants over the weekend and i'm feeling a bit fat but not in a nice pregnant way! feel like all my clothes look shite so feeling sorry for myself!

Still keeping my fingers crossed that i won't get the major morning sickness this time

HAven't told anyone yet so it's still a bit boring on that front too!

Must be a bit hormonal as have irrational need to poke MIL in the eye

ConnorTraceptive · 09/07/2007 09:24

07 just read your post hope everything is ok x x

siennammm · 09/07/2007 11:02

connortraceptive, pleased that the sickness is keeping away - I am 6+1 today and usally would be really ill right now and in hospital on a drip like i was with my other two but just feeling slightly sick which is amazing..... have really sore boobs - just hoping that i get a break this time round!! Hope you do too!!!X

07mumstheword · 09/07/2007 13:03

Hello all, it was confirmed at my appointment today that i have had any early miscarriage. I'm a bit sad but ok. I wish all you the very best in your pregnancies and hope to pick up on a thread for babies due later next year!!

sweetkitty · 09/07/2007 13:11

Afternoon all been down the park today running after the 2 LOs keep thinking this time next year I will have 3 down the park, still at least one won't be running!

Nuchal fold scan measures the amount of fluid behind the babies neck. From the measurements they can determine your risk for Downs Syndrome i.e. for my age I was about 1 in 200odd with DD1 but after the nuchal fold scan it went to 1 in 600 odd. It's not conculsive but it gives you an indication if you came up high risk you would be offered an amnio. It's got to be done between 11-13 weeks. Some health authorities offer them some don't, ours doesn't! It's usually done the same time as the 12 week (or so) dating scan.

siennamm - thats fab news about the morning sickness here's hoping

merryberry - love the Doreen bras, my boobs have yet to do anything and I refuse to wear maternity bras this time, I threw out all my feeding bras about 2 months ago so will have to reinvest in them when the time comes.

07mum - thinking of you today x

merryberry · 09/07/2007 13:28

07mum, I'm so sorry to hear this. You are very kind with your wishes for us. Much love and strength to you and your family. xxx

sweetkitty · 09/07/2007 13:30

07mum - crossed post sorry I'm so so sorry to hear your news, take care of yourself rest up and I will look out for another announcement from you later in the year xxx

timmyinatizzy · 09/07/2007 13:58

Sorry to hear your sad news 07mum. Good luck for the future.

sweetkitty - I knew someone else would be able to talk about nuchal scans in a better way than me.

skidoodle · 09/07/2007 14:02

Hi, another newbie here. Still getting used to the idea and on constant knickerwatch.

Think I'm due 8th March.

I'm also out of my underwired bra already. Wearing sports bras from now on. Had ones fitted that should last 3 months.

sorry to hear your news 07, take care

sweetkitty · 09/07/2007 14:26

Sorry timmy I think it's my scientist brain (or whats left of it) I think I found out EVERYTHING with the first one. Third one will positively be neglected.

welcome skidoodle and congratulations, I think I may be Due on the 8th March but we'll wait to see what the dating scan says. Is this your first?

Sports bras are a great idea much comfier than those maternity bras. I'm starting to get a bit paranoid about my boobs not growing but given the state DD2 left them in once she was finished they are two little empty sacks so have a lot of catching up to do.

derah · 09/07/2007 14:56

07Mum, I'm so sorry about your bad news. I hope you and DP are OK, and please stop by to let us know how you're doing. ((((((HUGE HUGS)))))))

Oh things were so much easier last time around when I could rest when I was tired!! I took DD to soft play this afternoon and nearly fell asleep in the nice soft bouncy toddler area!! I went to my GP this morning, and she'll get the midwife to contact me soon. Still don't feel pregnant, all very surreal, except the tired thing. DD has just gone down for a nap (well, she's in bed anyway, but I can still hear her singing over the baby monitor) and I'd love a rest but them bathrooms ain't gonna clean themselves!!

derah · 09/07/2007 14:56

Oops, forgot to say....

Hello Skidoodle!! Welcome to the group!

ConnorTraceptive · 09/07/2007 15:41
