Due March 2008 - is it real?

Oh my. Have name changed as I feel like a wee bit of a muppet for coming here while a bit uncertain. Will change back when I know one way or t'other for sure.

Was lurking over a cafe buffet this morning with DS, utterly unable to decide what I wanted to have for lunch. Told myself I'd have the chips but that they would probably taste metallic. Remembered how last night all the food in the house was unappealing, except two corn on the cob (?!).

Penny then dropped, though our TTC last month consisted I thought of getting it on magnificently before and after fertile time. Whipped into Boots for a 1st response after figuring I am 3 days pre-AF. Just got a faint but-its-there positive. BBC website says due date is 1st March.

Anyone else yet? I will not tell dp until the line is brighter for point and show effect, so will probably re-test Friday am. I will be keeping my news, if this really is news, virtual apart from twlling him for as long as possible, as I'm older, my thyroid is knackered and my miscarriage and anomaly risks are high.

Other than that, I am having a little smile:

Hi i cant beleive how many people are already on this thread!

anyway, i've given up the fags (not one since i did my at home test 8 days ago ( its killed me and hasnt helped my mood at all!!) although my DP is still smoking (outside now!) i cant allow my self to only have 1-2 units a week of alcohol as whats the point i might as well not do it at all! So i'm afraid my 5ish cups of coffee a day , will remain the same just cant give up it my only pleasure left (loath to admit it but i loved smoking i miss it so much now!) I realise its not great but my god i have to live!!!

Ive just had PG confirmed this morning i had to ring for results, i cant get there till next week, so i was wondering what i should start taking i know about 400mg folic acid but is there anything else i need to increase my intake off?

i agree with timmy, i just feel so exhaused already, i can feel every bit of my body!!

sweetkitty · 04/07/2007 22:02

Evening all

W4B - sorry to scare you about oozing bobbles it's only like one or two drops from a couple of them, no big deal when your nips are gushing, that's what no one told me when you BF it doesn't come from one central hole oh no it's from up to 6 or 7 jets and not one of them points in the same direction. So cna you imagine feeding newborn toddler needs a pee so you unlatch newborn milk jetting everywhere howling newborn toddler doesn't quite make it to the loo, sorry a glimpse of my life last time, sorry am off on a tangent, what else do you want to know, oh honey the vena cava thing isn't until the bub is much bigger. It's in your pelvis for the first 12 weeks safe and sound then it comes out and up (an up and up) the placenta doesn't start working until the magic 12 weeks either so sleeping on your left side won't squash the baby. TBH by the time you get so big for it to matter you'll hardly be able to get comfy anyway. Oh the caffeine thing preDD1 I was a caffeine junky, can't stand coffee but used to have loads of tea, red bulls and caffeine tablets went cold turkey once I was pregnant now I only have one cup of tea a day and no fizzy drinks and I'm not giving tea up! And ask away I used to ask all sorts of questions with DD1 on mumsnet it truly is fab all the experienced mums used to love me and my daft questions.

Timmy - tiredness is a killer, I'm terrible as I go to bed and lie awake for over an hour cos I can't get to sleep last night I was awake at 1.50am, not what you need when you are up at 8am with 2 toddlers.

marjoram - no advice about the festival and the peeing thing, I would still go but take loads of moist toilet roll and baby wipes and keep fresh that way.

Felt quite sicky today for the first time and my hips have been aching a bit, please bitch-SPD give me a few more weeks before you come to visit. Was lovely here for a change so took the DDs out for a walk then we played in the garden, great to get them out.

I don't have rabbit just as well I can touch type or I would be here all night

waiting4bambino · 04/07/2007 22:16

Thanks for all that Sweetkitty! I never would have known that milk came from 6-7 holes! I always thought it was one!!!!! How amazing and intriguing! Can't wait to tell DH! I've told him he's gonna taste it too! I guess when baby is born then and sex life resumes, that he will never see my boobs in the same way! And whilst I'm BFing, I don't think they'll be seeing any other action!!!!! I'll sleep soundly on my back tonight then and for as long as possible! Thanks!

derah · 04/07/2007 22:32

Oh, I've been dreading when I can't sleep on my tum any more!! I'm trying to appreciate it while I can. With dd it drove me mad... first cos of huge bump, and then when bf'ing, cos of huge boobs. I was soooooooooo happy when I could finally get back on my tum!!

But Waiting, Sweetkitty is right, you don't have to worry about how you sleep for a while yet. As for the jets of milk squirting out in every direction... oh yes, been there, done that!! One of my "jets" is kinda right on the top rim of my nipple and always shot stright up into my face and up my nose!! Ah, the joys!!! LOL!!!

OK, passed out on the sofa (the tiredness begins!) but have woken up to go to bed and valiantly struggled to the puter to say goodnight to you all. Enjoy comfy nights while you can ladies!!

derah · 05/07/2007 08:37

Morning! Ah, last to post yesterday and first to post today. Do I get a prize?

Feeling blah today, tired and frumpy, but not very pregnant. I don't like the beginning stages of pregnancy. All too worrying and strange.

How is everyone else today?

merryberry · 05/07/2007 08:37

Laughin (kinldy) at derah's rogue milk jet

Today, as it is supposed to be dry this am we are going:

Mama, zoo.
Mama, zoo.
Mama, zoo.
Mama, zoo.
Mama, zoo.
Mama, zoo.
Mama, zoo.
Mama, zoo.
Mama, zoo.
Mama, zoo.
Mama, zoo.
Mama, zoo.

Don't know about managing festivals, but I do know from last week that queasy early pg women must not go into the camel house. Argh, the stomach churning stench!

ConnorTraceptive · 05/07/2007 09:17

god it's a tedious stage isn't, can't tell anyone, can't buy anything yet, you don't look pregnant but feel pudgy anyway, you are starting to give up all the things in life that are bad for you but taste great sigh..................

timmyinatizzy · 05/07/2007 10:10

I didn't feel pregnant yesterday, but today I've got back the twinges in my stomach, it feels like my muscles are getting tighter, even when I try to relax them. Had a good nights sleep but I am still feeling tired. But hey ho life goes on and on....

Poor merryberry and the camel house, even thinking about it makes me feel a little queasy!

3madboys · 05/07/2007 11:04

morning all, i am still feeling faint and pukey!! i had forgotten how yuck you feel and with three others to look after its not fun!! plus today we are having a new boiler unit fitted so my house is in chaos, then tomorrow out new cooker is being delivered and on sat its ds2's bday party, with 15 5yr olds to keep entertained, i must be mad!!

hope everyones feeling ok today?

i am booking in with my gp this afternoon so i should get a date for my dating scan

hoping the boiler men hurry up and turn the water back on as i need the loo!

ConnorTraceptive · 05/07/2007 11:23

ok guys help needed here.

Have moved house but not changed doctors yet but need to as they know we are no longer in the area. My new local doctor doesn't have any spaces so am waiting for pct to send me a list of practices that seve my area.

Haven't seen doctor yet since I did the test so my question is?

Should I se doctor and get scan booked through my old surgery or should I just wait until I've got a new doctor.

have any of you guys made appointments with your midwife yet?

derah · 05/07/2007 11:40

Hi Connor

I wouldn't panic about seeing a doctor. With my last pg I rushed off to the docs in a panic, but they just kind of say, "ah yes, that's nice, we'll think about booking you a scan and come back later once you're past 12 weeks". They really just didn't care much or do much - I found it quite scary since it was my first time and didn't know what to expect. Blimming NHS!! You can book a scan at the hospital yourself, I think, but once you find a GP and go see them, as long as it's before 12 weeks I don't think they should have trouble booking you a scan themselves. My point is, 12 weeks is a long away away, so no need to rush.

derah · 05/07/2007 11:47

Mmm, just came over absolutely starving and had to go to the canteen to buy a snack. I think I would have had to chew my arm off if I hadn't got something else to eat!! Bean needs food......

ConnorTraceptive · 05/07/2007 11:48

thanks derah, just can't remember how it all worked with ds. I seemed to be at the doctors every other day from about 5 weeks on cause of the morning sickness

timmyinatizzy · 05/07/2007 13:02

Thats a shame that they know you have moved. Can you try and get an appointment by stealth as you haven't signed up for a new doctors yet. Thought that they couldn't remove you until they had had request from new doctors? Or am I just talking gibberish?

merryberry · 05/07/2007 14:12

hi again, survived the zoo and assorted rank poo smells. my house turns into a zoo later with arrival of mate and her particulalry, erm, active (she said politely) 2.5 year old later. still, nowhere near as nutzoid as a 5 year old party - good luck with that 3mb!

Connor, I would probably hassle your pct for available local gps - they should be able to tell you over the phone. If i waited for my pct (camden and islington) to do owt, I'd be ready for my old people's home before they got in touch...Hey, I've just realised your not on the list, amd I right? do you have an edd? You have a ds aged 7, and live where? tell me and I'll add you, unless I'm being blind here and you are on it already

Well, when I was having lunch at zoo with friend, the midwives rang, i have first appt 1/8/7 (w10) and first scan 21/8/7 (w13). Week 13 is perfect for the nuchal translucency assessment, isn't it? ...scurries off to check around....

marjoram · 05/07/2007 14:24

Connor, when I was pregnant with my DD I moved house and areas. My existing GP in Hackney continued to see me right until the 6 week check after she was born and then I transferred to my Waltham Forest health authority. I also continued to have antenatal at the Hackney hospital and in fact gave birth there, even though I lived under a different catchment area. I think it all comes under continuity of care and I would be very surprised if they refused to see you.

sweetkitty · 05/07/2007 19:16

hi all DP was working at home today so his laptop had the phoneline argh! He's upstairs bathing the DDs just now sounds like a riot.

on the Doctor thing I was like Derah first time around rushed off to tell the Doctor he was like congratulations we will get you booked in for a dating scan. The MW didn't even see me until the scan was done (maybe in case theres nothing there then it's less wasted resources ) I had 2 scans at 9 and 10 times for suspected miscarriage as I had a load of bleeding. With DD2 I moved twice during my pregnancy (don't ask horrendous house move story) so had 3 sets of MWs, think I was 25 weeks when we moved here. This time I think I'll phone the surgery in about 2 weeks that gives them about 6 to get a dating scan sorted. I even think you only get one scan up here no nuchal fold scan only the blood tests. And they won't tell you the sex.

Told my Mum today she was shocked but very happy for us (unlike her) I think she's had a bad week so welcomed the good news. Now just got DP's Mum and sister to tell. My Mum automatically assumed it was a "surprise" nice way of saying unplanned. I was like NO! She was amazed I got a positive before a missed period and that the docs don't do a test for you. I think in her day you had to wait for 3 missed periods before going to your doctors then they tested for you and you got your results back a week later! Also you were confined to bed for 10 days after the birth.

derah · 05/07/2007 20:12

Hi Ladies

I'm very tired today, and have been very hungry too. But at least boobs have more or less stopped hurting.

Sweetkitty - what's up with the NHS where you live?! Only one scan? That's not right! And as for not telling you the sex, well, don't get me started on my views there. Too late.... how dare anyone say you can't know if you want to? Makes me soooooooooo mad!!! Luckily for our local NHS they do tell you, or they'd have to deal with the wrath of derah!

Merryberry - well done for coping with zoo poo smells! I've got wet dog going on here and it's bad enough. Wet zoo animals just doesn't bear thinking about!! But it has inspired me to see if there's a zoo around here and take dd. She's really in to animals at the moment. ("Moooo!" is her big new word of the week!)

Oops, supper seems to be burning.....

lauzie · 05/07/2007 21:31

hi all,

Got my date for 1st scan with clinic- 26.07.07, haven't booked in with gp yet. Last time i moved at 12 weeks, but stayed with same hospital even though out of my area.

Its such an anti-climax when you tell the dr and they're just well we'll take your word for it, especially 1st time as I had been trying for 4yr, he could have at least been pleased for us!

Must be the season for zoo's! we went to Edinburgh on Saturday, ds has been marching like a penguin since!

Think my hormones must be playing up today, although have had quite a good day, just feel like I could sit and cry now.

Keep feeling really light headed, but don't seem to bad with m/s.

oh and ditto on the multiple jet thing!

ow82 · 05/07/2007 22:07

hiya all can I please join you all? I have 1 DS who's 16 months. I am a reg on here but have had to name change after a few RL instances so will be more careful of postings. anyhow I know some of you from the conception boards (meto)

i'm around 6 weeks (I think but not 100% on dates althou with DS I was 100% and he still came 3 weeks early) anyhow i'm due some when between the 1st and 13th march (bit vauge I know)

so far it doens't feel real - i've done 10 tests incl some CB digitals. all positives. so far had one day or feeling sickish but nothing much, 2 days of sore boobs again nothing much but apart from that no homronals no nothing - apart from DH asking if it was 'PMT week' last friday which prompted me to test on the sat and get a BFP.

anyhow that's about me so look forward to chatting with u all. ooh and DS will be 2 when DB arrives so any tips will be greatfully recieved.

sweetkitty · 05/07/2007 22:17

derah - I know it's rubbish here I believe you only get one scan at 16 weeks, am going to phone and find out next week. I was in a different area last time so got 2. We are paying for a private scan to find out the sex too because I am so impatient!

lauzie - I didn't know you were Scottish too whereabouts are you? What did you think of Edinburgh Zoo I was a bit disappointed really thought the enclosures were tiny and there weren't that many animals. DD1 was more interested in picking up leaves from the ground than the lions or monkeys! We took her to a farmyard type thing a few weeks ago near Cumbernauld and she loved it. Am planning to go to Blair Drummond Safari Park in the next couple of weeks too.

ow82 - congratulations and welcome to the thread, don't forget to post your stats too.

I was still awake at gone 2 last night finished my book I don't know what's going on but I go to bed and cannot sleep. Luckily I had 2 hours this afternoon as DP was working from home.

timmyinatizzy · 05/07/2007 22:26

Well I tried, but I failed.. I fell asleep again on the train home . I woke up when the person next to me got off two stops before me. I'm coming home a bit earlier tomorrow, picking the dsd's up from school then going to see my mum and dad. So I'll take the train challenge again tomorrow!

lauzie · 05/07/2007 22:46

Sweetkitty~ I'm not! Geordie born and bred I'm afraid, Scotland is my home from home though, Would live there if I could

siennammm · 05/07/2007 23:00
