Hi girls
Are the NCT classes free? I am unfortunately not able to make all the sessions (because of travelling) so trying to see if they are free or not so I can see which one I can get.

Thank you

In my area they were £100 14 years ago.

Holidayshopping · 12/11/2018 22:41

No-they aren’t. Mine were about £180 for 8 sessions.

They offer discounts to people on low incomes/benefits. For some people they would be almost free. Has to quite a low income though. The full prices vary depending on location. They are not cheap as the practitioners are highly trained at university level.

See if you can find antenatal classes through the children’s centre, we did and they were free and brilliant

Notquiteagandt · 12/11/2018 23:07

Mine are £285 for the signature course

LivingOnAPear · 16/11/2018 08:39

Ours were about £70 per parent for the basic course. The instructor was terrible but it was worth it to meet people having a baby at the same time.

The local Nct group here run a weekly meet-up called bumps and babies which is donation only. So might be worth checking Facebook to see if there is something similar in your area.

Also your local hospital might run a free antenatal class. Ours does for 1st time parents. My friend met lots of people that way.

They cost loads. But they do have discounts if your on a low income. Ours were as near to free as makes no difference still not very useful though-

Nightmanagerfan · 16/11/2018 08:45

I’m in London and ours are £320 for the signature course!

Etino · 16/11/2018 08:51

Sheesh, it really is a club for meeting like minded Parents isn’t it?

BikeRunSki · 16/11/2018 08:51

They are heavily reduced for people on low incomes. The coffee mornings (where I actuslly made most of my lasting friends) just ask for a contribution towards teabags etc.

Nothisispatrick · 16/11/2018 09:00

I paid about 175 for the basic course this year.

"Sheesh, it really is a club for meeting like minded Parents isn’t it?"

Yep. Hence me not finding it very useful. They can discount all they like, if the income disparity is that steep your unlikely to form lifelong friendships Grin

They all moved out to cottages in the arse end of nowhere and then got raging pmt from the social isolation.

Our children's centre run a course called preparation for birth and beyond which is similar and free. Only my midwife forgot to refer me, the the children centre then lost the referral and finally offered me a place 2 months after my son was born 🙄

TwittleBee · 28/11/2018 12:24

£190 for the signature course here
