Now that's all out of the way in the thread title we've all got to head down the "things can and will only get better now" ok?? All ailments stop and nothing but good things will befall us all.

Right.

TT - that sounds like the perfect day...I've got shot of the boy, and the house is my own... along with several loads of washing, ironing, a HUGE bag of baby clothes to hide from DH (who is having a stress about "stuff") plus shopping..

Bananabump.... that sounds suspiciously like "nesting" to me....

All you workers... enojy... all us non workers.......enjoy more.... and everyone - keep remembering its another day less now.......

lizziemun · 03/07/2007 08:12

bananabump

You will have to cook the quiche before freezing, i cook them until just cooked but not completely so when you reheat them they are not overcooked.

tokentotty

Glad you are enjoying your maternity leave, so far. As for going to bluewater sorry not i can not help you there, i can't even be bothered to go my local shops to get what i need.

As for sleeping not doing to bad once i'm a sleep, but this morning i woke up in so much pain my bump was rock hard and my arms, shoulders were realy painful.

tokentotty · 03/07/2007 08:19

Ooh Lizziemum that doesn't sound good - was it caused by sleeping in a particular position do you think ?? Know what you mean about struggling even to get to the local shops, my pregnancy agoraphobia has well and truly kicked in. Still got a pedicure/foot massage at 10.15am which I'm hoping will help shift the last bit of swelling from my feet/ankles after two days constantly running around.
Growing, I think you're right about banana's cooking frenzy!! Also agree with the cooking tip you gave. Have got about 4 baskets of ironing to do that I've sort of arranged in various places around the house where I don't have to look at them. got more washing to do as well and that's without getting so much as a vest washed for Peanut. Any ideas for kickstarting nesting Banana as I'm never going to get anything done otherwise !!!

I don't know tokentotty, but i'm blaming DH for trying to squash me last night. I would have gone and slept in the the spare room, but where he is moving his office downstairs he seems to have messed up every other room, i will just have to get up some energy to get some tidying done .

growingbagpuss · 03/07/2007 08:43

I've found that in my new capacity to sleep on both sides (hurrah) -when I do roll over, I get a huge amount of discomfort right on my pelvic bone - and bump goes v hard - I think it might be a sign of a v low baby, and when we roll, it must be harder for LO to shift if the head is well slotted into pelvis.

Lying on my back, I just can't breath - I get steadily more panicky, and feel really sick - and then I roll over, and everything is fine again - it is a recognised condition - but I can't remember the name for it.

TT - if there wasn't so much of everythign else to do, I'd go shopping to Bluewater - I need my final bra fitting, as I fear last time's won't be big enough (my goodness these babies are huge) - what about Friday? Fancy a RL meet up? Scary?!!!!!!

conkertree · 03/07/2007 09:08

morning all - ooh rl meet ups - how exciting.

went to parentcraft class last night - was actually quite good. the midwife was really nice and seemed very sensible. they have a whole philosophy of wanting you to feel as close to giving birth at home as possible, with medical staff down the hall just incase they are needed, but not coming in to see you all the time and not telling you what to do unless you want them to. It seemed much more relaxed than i thought it might be in a hospital.

everyone else was about 20 -25 weeks though so think they were looking at me a bit funny and wondering if i might pop any minute.

my practice manager just mentioned that i still had 2 1/2 days of holiday to take which was such a relief as i havent mentioned it so far as was too scared i would be shouted at (everyone here is extremely busy just now). am set to finish on 20th july, but will decide nearer the time whether to take the holiday that week, or just not start mat pay till the 25th july.

hope everyone slept well last night - i did for a change and it makes such a difference to my mood today.

myweegirl · 03/07/2007 09:51

conkertree - were your parentcraft classes at Stirling? they sound completely different to the ones held at falkirk...

i am so hungry! i've been to daycare this morning for the first part of my GTT - popped back home rather than sit in the hospital for 2 hours. i forgot how horrible lucozade tasted -yuck.

itchyncsratchy · 03/07/2007 10:29

Hi everyone, very busy on here but I really look forward to seeing how you're all doing.. I'm so happy I found mumsnet!
Glad Augustbride and Lizziemum are ok.
Annie - I've been researching breech births online and I've gone the other way, I think I'd really prefer a planned c-section if the baby was determined to stay breech. I dread a long labour followed by emergency section, the idea of knowing what day the baby will be born and being able to plan seems very reassuring too.
This lack of sleep is a torture though. Baby moves about so much from 11 - 1 and I doze a bit but can't really sleep through all the moving, I think she's still breech as the kicks are still aimed at the bladder. I don't feel like I'm really sleeping 100%, feels like I'm just dozing all night and deciding whether to turn over or if I really need to get up and pee.
So I'm just exhausted when I wake up and grumpy too and then today I have this horrible annoying twitching eyelid. Sorry for long long moan!
weegirl and conkertree - are you both booked in for St Johns? Is that because it's closest or because of facilities?

GillL · 03/07/2007 10:32

I'm with you on the lucozade myweegirl. My mum always used to buy litres of it when I was ill as a child and I hated it.

I didn't sleep well last night. I was up 5 times - twice because dd woke me up and three times to go to the toilet. I'm hoping for an early night tonight (yeah right).

Would love to join you at Bluewater girls but I don't finish work until 12th July. I could do with some help finding an outfit for my sister's wedding (4th August) if you're free the week after. I'm dreading it!

bananabump · 03/07/2007 10:32

Nooooo0o0o0o0o I have NEW STRETCHMARKS!

I thought being a lardy I'd get away with it, but noooo. I spied them last night before bed, three or four sneaky teeny (at the moment) ones above my bellybutton where the bump has done the majority of the stretching, and four or five oddly just on one side of the bump, coincidentally WHERE BABY'S FEET ARE KICKING all the sodding time. Gah.

Not fair. Not fair at all.

TT, you wanted tips on how to kickstart nesting? Well, I go the "Laze about then suddenly realise you have just over a month before mil descends and PANIC" route, seems quite effective for me.

I think it might be a bit of nesting you know. I don't think the baby will here be here any time SOON soon, but I just can't get the bathroom wall colour out of my head, day or night it's bugging me, I want to change it from yucky cheap minty apple green to some lovely sunny lemon colour. Dp will go nuts though because it might require effort

Plus I have a mental list of everything that needs doing in the house now, including trips to the dump and charity shops!! Time to get ruthless.

Oh, and thanks for the tips on freezing quiche, I'm not exactly a domestic goddess!

itchyncsratchy · 03/07/2007 10:39

Get the bio oil on those stretchmarks bananabump!
and Gill - god you have my sympathy, I can't imagine how I could cope with pregnancy/ tiredness and all and a young child

myweegirl · 03/07/2007 10:43

itchy - i'm booked for stirling as i'm in the forth valley health board area. time wise for me it's very similar to travel to either st johns or stirling though.

i know a few people who have delivered in st johns and they've found the staff very nice and helpful.

i better get myself back to day care for the next round of trying to find a vein. them i'm off to find some nice food. can't decide what to have though...

kiteflying · 03/07/2007 11:02

Morning everyone. Very impressed by bananabump's nesting. I will have to do the freezing thing as well, as my DP cannot cook anything but bangers and mash. Although bless him he has asked me to write down some recipes of mine for him so he can feed me properly in the first weeks (I am telling you, I cannot recommend that hypnotherapy weekend enough )
TT, you probably need to rest more than nest just now - sounds like your last couple of weeks at work were a bit more frantic than they ought to have been. Cut yourself some slack. Someone wrote somewhere earlier that provided you have a few (20?) nappies and babygros and the essential car seat before the big day, everything else can be bought up afterwards by other people.
Itchy, when is your arrival on home turf? You must be excited. Hope your baby turns for you. You never know it might be tiny fists punching your bladder (I have this!)
Lizziemun and August - sorry you have had a pants time of it. Thank goodness Augustbride it was only a tap from the car behind or you might have been our first birth-day announcement. How funny that you could not feel the contractions.
I bought another sling yesterday - a second hand hugabub. I read somewhere that babies are safest in a sling on take off and landing in an aircraft so thought I would get a wrap sling as an extra bit of travelling paraphernalia.

growingbagpuss · 03/07/2007 11:13

ooops - just been shopping and found baby wipes on BOGOF - so bought another 2 packets..... open LO's wardrobe to find I have 12 already.... -good job they don't go off!

growingbagpuss · 03/07/2007 11:18

GillL - I soooo know what you mean - saturday night, DS woke at 1 wanting a wee - and then changed his mind. So we sat in the bathrom at my mums for 25 minutes while he decided he actually did want a wee. I could have killed him. Then he woke at 6.15 (mummy I've got a snotty nose), but luckily settled back until 6.50.

I've thought about 'lifting" him when we go to bed, for a wee, but to be honest he's so fast asleep that I don't think it would work.

I'm not looking forward to B/F and trying to settle him back aswell - DH stirs, grunts and then rolls over, snoring. Doesn't help that I have super sensitive mummy ears, and hear the tiny whisper of "I want a wee wee" long before DS has really even woken up properly.

itchyncsratchy · 03/07/2007 11:46

I'll be arriving in Edinburgh Sunday night, hopefully no airport dramas will delay me.. Managed to book a daytime flight in business for only 450$ more so that's all a relief. I can't stay comfy more than 15 mins on the couch or even in bed surrounded by pillows so I was a bit worried about 8 hour overnight flight in full to capacity economy. Another perk is excellent luggage allowance between me/bairn(!! love it!!) and dp we'll have near to 150kgs on return so can buy plenty of stuff.
I've posted a recent pic of bump on profile - I'm looking v tired!
We had friends over at the weekend each has 2 young kids, 3 and 1.5, 4.5 and 3. Dp got himself v excited about short gap siblings.. made me start thinking about post birth contraception!!

MrsKrabadger · 03/07/2007 11:49

(NB itchynscratchy have you popped over to the Simpsons thread?)

itchyncsratchy · 03/07/2007 12:01

ermm now I'm confused!

bananabump · 03/07/2007 12:11

itchy your bump is awesome, I'm quite jealous!

this isn't a picture of me but this is like my bump at the moment (without the vile jumper. ahem) huuuuge yet unnoticable! lol

lizziemun · 03/07/2007 12:11

itchyncsratchy

I/we have been thinking about contraception, as we know we don't want more the 2 children (am pg with no 2).

I keep winding DH about going to see the doctor about the having the snip, mainly because after i dd i went back onto the pill but it gave me realy bad pmt, to the point when dd was 10mths i woke in the the middle of the night and if dh had spoken to me i would have attacked him as i was so angry.

So i realy need to find something i can take that doesn't give me pmt.

itchyncsratchy · 03/07/2007 12:32

bananabump- haha, who is that lady?? I am feeling freakish though! I haven't seen anyone else as big as me and it's only 32wks.
lizziemum- gosh yes the contraception idea has just hit me, i used to take the pill but it did make me a weeping mess.. I took the mini pill b/fing ds1 but it needs to be taken exact time each day. Can't risk that! I got pregnant this time the first month of trying, after taking pill for more than 5 years.

growingbagpuss · 03/07/2007 12:39

Blimey itchy - that is a very healthy bump, and a lovely tanned one at that - you lucky thing -at least your post birth jelly belly will be brown and not white and wrinkly like mine! I admire you for wearing a bikini - proves you can still do it!!

I think perhaps you could grow tomateos in your hair... good fertility

I have already warned DH that if I have to have my hideous veins stripped he can have the snip. I'm not keen on going back on the pill (hi B/Cancer risk) but it does ward off my monthly migraines -so there is something good about it.

kiteflying · 03/07/2007 13:05

We are the opposite - we are already planning how to plan our next little one to follow swiftly after this little one has settled into being alive and happy. I must be a sucker for all this hip pain. I would like to have two LO's before I get too far into my forties though so that's my excuse. You all have lots of time and have not experienced the exquisite emotional rollercoaster that is IVF.

GillL · 03/07/2007 13:15

growingbagpuss - It's hard even when you're not pregnant to have to still get up in the night for a toddler. I really appreciate the nights when I get 6 hours uninterrupted sleep before I have to go to the loo. Dd doesn't wake every night but at least once a week. DH sleeps through it all. I used to make him take his turn to get up with her but I have to go to the loo anyway if I'm awake so I don't bother him. I have told him though, in no uncertain terms, that when the baby is here he will be in charge of dealing with dd in the night. I'm not doing both. He's not going to like it but it's tough. Dd won't like it either because she normally cries for mummy but they'll just have to get used to it.

bananabump · 03/07/2007 13:16

I have no idea who that woman is, just found her on a google image search, I'm not brave enough to post my own pic! lol

omg, I hate thinking about contraception, post-baby. I'm crap at remembering to take pills, that's why he's here! I always used to say to dp "don't worry, I'm probably barren von trapp" (working on the theory that since I'd never had a pregnancy scare I was probably not incredibly fertile) rational, no?

He throws that in my face all the time now lol

Th circumstances around me getting pregnant are a bit spooky though: I'd been really really broody for about 3 months, until suddenly overnight I wasn't anymore at about late october...

I painted a picture at that time of a heavily pregnant woman, which I only just found recently and it really weirded me out...

and normally I drink like a fish but from october to christmas could only be persuaded to have a drink three times, didn't fancy it at all.

It's as if it was all done in the background, in my subconscious. And I didn't have a clue til 22nd december! Weeeeeeiird.
