JAM that's excellent news, what a relief for you to have this sorted out now before the baby comes (well, all being well of course).

Melissa, am ROFL at your dh's theory on tearfulness!! I think "emotionally shot" is a great description

Cyee · 25/06/2007 14:22

Congrats 3Flights and welcome to your lovely new son!

Twoplusone - v impressed at the old sex shenanigans. Well done!

Great news on the tenants Justaboutmanaging. Fingers crossed for you. I know what you mean about mortgage worries. I'm quite risk averse myself so even though you can rationalise what you're doing, I still fret.

All the best for tomorrow Pulapula!

All good here. Had weekend NCT class, which was great. Really nice people. 2 more days til mat leave. Hurray!

Take care all, and hope those who've been feeling rough find medicines or support that make them feel better...

typhoonsmum · 25/06/2007 17:19

Congratulations 3flights.

I'm sure I'll be left here on my own.

catstar · 25/06/2007 17:36

Congratulations on all the new arrivals! and all the best for those scheduled for deliveries this week. Hope everyone is well and bearing up. Very impressed with all the activity going on!

I am officially uncomfortable now - two weeks to go but would be happy () if LO decides to make an appearance a week early. My pelvis is starting to really ache now - is this everything starting to "soften" and spread out? I had a bath last night and a strange sensation on sitting down that everything "down there" felt swollen.

I have met some great people through my NCT classes and so far we've been getting together for weekly lunches. The NHS Parentcraft classes have also been very helpful and I feel much more prepared and thankful to have met people locally. I moved to this area a year ago but working in the City makes it hard to meet local people socially I find. My old friends and family are about 60 miles away, so I was worried about feeling isolated, but don't think that should be a problem now.

Gotta dash to pick DH up from work - he's enjoying having a personal chauffeur at the moment!!! Or should I make that taxi driver....

Trimum2 · 25/06/2007 17:43

Catstar - ditto the swollen feeling. Very bizarre. Funny kinda pressure feeling.

Still a few days to go for me. But starting to feel increasingly panicked about what is ahead. Tears hitting at increasing frequency.

Hosp think baby could be here by the weekend as its quite low. That instantly made things feel even more real.

pulapula · 25/06/2007 18:38

Hello all,

Well, I have to be at the hospital at 7am tomorrow. There are 5 planned c-sections, and I'm no. 2, due in theatre at 9.30am. Gulp.

Luckily the in-laws will come round, give DD her breakfast and drop her at nursery. I didn't expect it to be so early, but at least if I'm no.2, then things shouldn't get delayed too much, even if there are some emergency deliveries. We told DD (2.6) about it tonight, and she seems very excited about baby ben coming out tomorrow.

Thanks for all the good luck wishes. I am feeling quite good about it all, but hope I manage to get some sleep tonight, so I'm not too tired. Have tablets to take at 10pm and 6am, so will try and get a nice sleep in between.

3flights - fantastic news!!!! Congratulations. Wow we are all getting there arnt we!

Good luck Pulapula, how very exciting! You will be holding your little one before you know it! Let us know that your okay.

JAM - great news on the house! I am sure this will work out for the best. At least you can relax a little now.

Twoplusone - I am with you on the tearfulness. I cried all day Sunday. Not sure if it was a combination of not feeling well, panicking or generally just hating on everyone...DH said that I was 'acting nuts' which made me even worse!

I too am officially uncomfortable and get ratty very quickly. My back aches, I'm getting BH all the time and I'm tired! I am 35+1 and I hope I dont go over 40!

Big hugs to all and their bumps and congrats again 3flights.

Ohh Kyte, I get my pack on Friday, and am ok to deliver at home from Sunday. Thing is my midwife wants me to wait until she gets back from holiday 2 weeks after that. She missed the last one.

Good luck tomorrow Pula

bilblio · 25/06/2007 22:45

Congrats 3flights, and welcome baby boy

All the best for tomorrow Pulapula, hope the problems with the weather don't mean they change anything.

JAM - yes midwife ratios can be that bad in hospital. I was under the impression that I'd have a midwife with me all the way through my labour, but when we went on the labour ward tour the other night there were 3 midwives and 9 ladies in labour.
They have a midwife on duty who is supposed to be a dedicated midwife for the midwifery led unit, but as there were no midwifery led patients in she was helping the others out. Had a midwifery led patient come in then she would have gone to that person and the remaining 2 midwives would have been looking after the other 9 women.
The labour wards at our hospital are generally considered very very good too.

Myfairone · 26/06/2007 07:10

JAM - Really great news on the house! I'm laughing out loud at the conversation with your father. I am sure that he is just 'logically' thinking of you. You have to remember that they see us (no matter how old) as little children!

Excellent news on the home births Kyte & Jennster. A very exciting prospect to be having your little ones at home.

Well, I am feeling tons better now and the tests from the doctor showed nothing untoward so it was just a regular tummy bug...which had me incapacitated for an entire week!!!!

I have a friend coming over today with her 2 week old baby! So excited and hoping to get lots of tips.

Have a great day all.

twoplusone · 26/06/2007 10:26

great news on the homebirthing packs starting to arive.. Thigs really are all stations go now..

Pulapula, should have her lo now (if they kept to here 9.30am c-section} Hope all is ok

Still feeling really tearful.. I hate it .. everytime I look at ds (who is being good as gold) I burst into tears!!.. God these hormones.. I have been trying to get hold of DH at work as I really need a big hug sio trying to see if he will come home for lunch ( work is only 5mins away)

Dont know what the weather is like in the UK but it is cold, grey and damp, here.. Was going to go shopping but DS has had a bout of the runs this morning, so darent venture out anywhere. Could always do some house work!!! But cant motivate myself to do that...lol.

Sorry to whinge, must try and get happy thoughts back into my head..

typhoonsmum · 26/06/2007 10:51

I FOUND THE POST NATAL THREADS I've been looking for them for ages. It's strange seeing the girls talking about feeding instead of hospital appointments and general discomforts.

Beyonceen · 26/06/2007 11:04

hi all. I am SO not getting would up by you all talking about pains and stuff. I'm sure we will all still be here in 4 weeks. I did this last time and was convinced every wee twinge was the baby coming but in the end i was a week late with dd and 5 days late with ds.!! My new policy is to ignore it and keep busy with totally unrelated things (hard to do i know when you can't really walk and just breathing is difficult).
twoplusone - we are in Glasgow at the Army Personnel Centre and there's guys here from every regiment under the sun. No mess though and no hive. Have you seen the forces sweetheart thread?? It's nice but not many preg ladies on it. My dh flew out to Germany (Paderborn and Osnabruk) yesterday for four days so i better not go into labour! (Not due any way til 22nd Jul and knowing me, more likely to be 22nd Aug) He does a lot of travelling around interviewing and doing god knows what. Keeps me in stokings and fans as my mum would say.

Have you seen the price of Bio oil!!! I think though desperate times and desperate measures etc.

twoplusone · 26/06/2007 11:50

Beyonceen- I have just seen the forces sweethearts this morning..

I know I shouldnt get my hopes up with every twinge just cant help it.. TBH I have no idea what my natural gestation is.. as with dd they got her out at 36wks because of probs, ds I had a sweep on due date, due to two factors at the time.. so no idea, when either of them would have come if things had been left.
I am lucky this time I am not as big as what I was with the other two (havent put on half of the weight I did with them) So I am still fairly agile it is emotionally and mentally that I want this baby now.. oh and the fact that I am very impatient......

MelissaM · 26/06/2007 12:03

Jennster & Kyte - glad your hb packs are on their way. Mine arrived last thurs but haven't had a chat with mw yet about what I do, even though I could have had lo at home a few days before pack arrived! Next app on Fri so as long as I hold out 'til then, I will find out what I need to do!

JAM, glad you have managed to sort out some tenants and can move after all.

Myfairone, glad you are feeling better. Holding a baby didn't work for me on my last day at work, but I have heard that it's meant to do something to your hormones.

Pulapula will be a mum by now I guess. How exciting!

I was feeling v uncomfortable last night after tea so persuaded dh to go for a walk with me round the local park. Had really strong bh and backache while we were out (lots of them but at irregular intervals). dh was most disappointed when they completely stopped when we got home! I think he wanted an excuse not to go to all the meetings he has today! Hopefully he has his phone with him today though as his boss panicked yesterday when he left it on his desk and it kept ringing! I think he checked the missed calls log to make sure it wasn't me and gave dh a telling off after his meeting!!!

Groveregg · 26/06/2007 12:13

I am intrigued by you guys all talking about homebirth packs, what is in them? My midwife came round on Saturday to talk about homebirth, but she - or whoever it will be - will bring everything with them when the time comes.

Her visit did at least spur me into some action and some baby things have at long last been brought down from the attic. And after she was talking about plastic sheeting and leakage of various bodily fluids (sorry of this paints a horrible picture) I have got round to varnishing the loo floor!

I guess by now pulapula will be starting to get to know her LO; hope all is going well. It seems quite strange that we all know it's happening...

JennsterFrogLover · 26/06/2007 14:05

Groveregg. Think they like you to be prepared BEFORE the on duty midwife arrives, who might be called from her bed, so it's one less thing to think about. They don't necessarily keep them in their cars.

Needles, catheters, incontinence mats (loads and they make great changing mats when out and about as they fold up small), maternity pads (lots of them), placenta bucket, local anaesthetic, and can't remember if there is anything else.
