Apologies to anyone of a delicate nature but I've had a bit of a scare this morning and need some advice before I make a complete tit of myself with my local MW.

Was about to attempt some 'perineal massage' in the shower and found things not as expected!! Feels (& I think looks) like my cervix is sticking out of me. Had a bit of a furtle around and can't find anything inside me that might be my cervix but never having come 'face to face' with it before, am not sure what it looks like!!

Can anyone give me any advice? I'm 38 + 2 at the moment.

If you're really worried then talk to your midwife she won't think you are silly and it's better to be safe than sorry isn't it??

I had intergestion when i was pregnant with my first and thought i was going into labour.

and i can't even spell right, lol.

Put your pride aside WC, and get on the phone to your MW......as far as I'm concerned things like this should be investigated......it could be perfectly normal, ie pressure of baby pushing things down, but not medical so wouldn't know.

Maybe you should post this on a childbirth thread so it catches the eye of Lulu, Mars or mears.....

lulumama · 30/05/2007 11:17

if something is coming out of your vagina, that wasn;t there before, then it must must must be checked...so call the midwife and get it looked at....your cervix is a firm ring, that feels like the tip of your nose when it is not ripe, and like a pursed mouth when it is...

westcoaster · 30/05/2007 11:18

Good idea Daisy - I'll try that.

Lulu - I was hoping you'd find me!! Thanks for the advice - will phone the MW now. If it is a prolapse does that affect how I give birth??

DaisysGotSausageFeet · 31/05/2007 07:43

Hope you are OK Westcoaster......(((hugs))) to you!

bumperlicious · 31/05/2007 09:06

Hi westcoaster - hope all is well with you. There's no need to feel daft about not know what the inside of your body is like! It would be weirder if you spent a lot of time with your hand up your bit every day!

Good luck and let us know how you are.

x

Lulu - have been reassured by midwife on the phone that nothing untoward is happening. Still feels a bit strange so am going to get DH to 'check me out' tonight (lucky sod that he is!!) If still looks dodgy (ewwwwww) will go to the clinic tomorrow. Oh the glamour of pregnancy....!!
