PCOS Pregnancy Thread :-)

Hi :-) I couldn't see one floating around so I thought would set up a PCOS Pregnancy thread. Whenever you Google "PCOS and pregnancy", the first things that come up are all doom and gloom!

I'm 29 and I am about 4 and a half weeks pregnant. I was diagnosed with PCOS in March and took clomid to get pregnant. I was so focused on just getting pregnant that I never really thought about how I would feel if I did get pregnant!

I feel like the diagnosis has left a massive cloud over my head and I would hate to think there were other ladies out there worrying. So I've decided to start and thread where we can all support each other :-)

Ive got PCOS aswell and im a size 20/22, but honestly I got diagnosed when I was 14 and bar the irregular periods its never really been an issue for me (especially hearing other womens horror storys)

Anyway about 2 years ago I got my implant out as wanted my body to get "back to normal" and since then me and DH havent used protection but not been "trying" either
About 1 year ago I went to GP as nothing was happening and she referred me to fertilitiy clinic early because of my "PCOS"
When I got there I was basically told "We can test you DH but you need to loose at least ??kg before we can even contemplate you" Worked it out to be AT LEAST 6stone 😦😦

So you can imagine i just gave up. Ive had friends much MUCH bigger than me with PCOS conceive naturally and thought ill try another yearish and then go back.
Well my last AF was the 1st may and didnt think anything when she didnt appear in june. HOWEVER Id been feeling really nauseous and tired and id gone off my fave foods! So picked up a test, thought nothing of it and that it was going to be a BFN and you can imagine i nearly fell off the toilet when a BFP came up!!
Ive had my doubts over the past week that im imagining it all but did another 2 (one at night as i know hgc is low then) and one first thing and both came up BFP!!

Im still scared im going to go and get told im being stupid and im not pregnant. And my DH has even told me that the tests can be show false positive for people with cysts but ive seen enough BFN in my life to know what it looks like, and id surely not get 3 false positives in a row!

Anyway very first app with midwife is monday so wish me luck 👍👍

Sorry for the long reply..... ❤

Hi, can I join please? I was doagnosed with PCOS and am a size 20, so def not a healthy weight. Just found out we're expecting, which is obviously amazing, but I've googled side effects of my weight and I'm now quite worried again. Only 4+7 here so Still a while
To go until I'm in safer territory!

Phoebe1992 · 22/07/2018 18:11

Hello! I found out I had Pcos about 6 months ago! Explained so much with the weight gain and other symptoms. I was about to go to my first appointment at the fertility clinic when I found out I was pregnant!
I'm 12 weeks now and wasn't mentally prepared at all, there has been a lot of tears so far even though I am sooo happy to be having a baby. I'm just worrying about every little thing!

LookingAtTheStars89 · 22/07/2018 18:36

Lovely to see the replies :-) How is everyone doing? I am 10 + 2 today. What is everyone doing with their diet? I know sugar is supposed to be like to root of all evil but I've been struggling to eat so I have been having a few biscuits here and there. Is everyone else eating sugar or have you cut it out?

OP posts:
Phoebe1992 · 22/07/2018 20:16

I'm finding eating healthy really difficult! I don't want fruit and veg and can only really eat what I fancy at that time... usually a cheese toastie 🙈 I'm hoping when the sickness dies down a healthier diet will be easier. The more I worry about what I'm eating the more anxious I'm getting, just allowing myself to have what I want at the minute xx

TheOneWithTheBaby · 23/07/2018 06:43

I'm trying to eat more fruit and vegetables now. There's no way I could cut out all sugar. Some mornings all I can stomach are some rich tea biscuits and I do like chocolate. It's why I'm the size I am Blush

I wasn't mentally prepared either. The gyno said it could take us a while and even made me a follow up appointment for later this year to discuss options. It only took us a few unprotected times-this month was only once in the right window. So we were both a bit shocked.

Angelmiracle · 23/07/2018 20:07

Hi all another PCOSer here was diagnosed 10 yrs ago at 22. Lost 5.5 stone now it's all on! Size 18/20. Have DS 5 who took 18 months to naturally conceive. No.2 here who has taken around the 5 years. We had began seeing gynae and DH was waiting SA appointment but looks like he doesn't need it now!! I'm 5+1 due 24th March!

Phoebe1992 · 24/07/2018 08:23

Are people having the test for downs? Really nervous about it coming back high risk and spending the rest of my pregnancy worried. I'd be ok with it, my partners worried he wouldn't cope however x

LookingAtTheStars89 · 24/07/2018 10:21

@Phoebe1992. I am. I'm trying not to worry too much about the results though. I worry more about the Edwards and Pautau results Confused

I'm constantly thinking worst case scenario in my head! When is your test? Mine is on Monday x I'm hoping I'll calm down once I've got results it's the not knowing! X

Angelmiracle · 25/07/2018 22:18

@LookingAtTheStars89 wow you must be so thrilled given that diagnosis!! DH and I both were getting more convinced issue lay with him. He was so relieved 😄

Anyone else having ovary pain? I coughed in bed this morning and my right ovary was in agony or at least I assume it's the ovary!!!

LookingAtTheStars89 · 26/07/2018 09:25

OP posts:
Phoebe1992 · 26/07/2018 09:53

Angelmiracle · 26/07/2018 12:08

Hopefully it was a one off haven't had any since! Probably everything adjusting.

How's everyone feeling? I had quite upset tummy Tues evening and extremely sore boobs. But feeling fine today it's rather unsettling!

Phoebe1992 · 05/08/2018 16:49

How is everyone feeling? Week 14 tomorrow and I have definitely started showing! Feel like it's super early to show? X

Hey ladies, I’m 33 and also have PCOS been trying for a baby for 2 years and I am now 7 weeks pregnant (due 3rd April) was a massive shock never thought it was going to happen. I am a size 22 (BMI 50) the midwife is sending me to the dietitian and I am trying to eat more fruit but to be honest with the way I’m feeling I don’t wanna eat any thing lol I have also had 3 scans already as I have a hematoma and been bleeding. Have anyone else gone through this?

Thankyou

alicejones1995 · 20/08/2018 14:54

Hi everyone!

Im 23 and diagnosed with PCOS when i was 18.. im 16 weeks pregnant with my first baby after being told i probably wouldn't conceive naturally!

Lauzy86 · 31/08/2018 15:15

I was diagnosed with PCOS at the start of the year, complete shock as the pill seemed to mask it for years. I'm lucky that I only have it on one side so treatment was easier. My GP was amazing and then I saw a consultant at the private hospital (rather than waiting 4months for nhs) was prescribed metformin and fat burners and told to get my weight down - only 5kg but he said it would help so I worked my butt off in the gym and dieting and first time ovulating 2 months later, I got pregnant! Half way and very excited but already started to worry about after and how to manage this condition. I need to read up more on it, it was all about ttc this year but after the baby it's just about living with it - any advice?

LookingAtTheStars89 · 11/10/2018 09:53

Hey ladies :-) How's everyone doing?

Ooooh I am going to placemark so I can hear lots more positivity I hope! Fellow PCOS sufferer here. I'm on 1500mg metformin and just found out I'm pregnant. Sharing the fears of doom and gloom...

mum2b2019 · 11/10/2018 12:26

Congrats! Im now 21 weeks.

My dr said there are no issues with pcos once your pregnant so wouldnt worry about anything!

clared55 · 14/10/2018 18:28

Hi all,

I'm 32 and was diagnosed with PCOS last year (after I also suspect the pill had masked it for years).

We were TTC for over 2 years and fell pregnant on my third round of Clomid. It was a total shock as I was just starting to think it wasn't something that was going to happen for us.

Now just over 14 weeks and due on 12th April. Apart from the increased risk of gestational diabetes, it was nice to be told by my GP when I went to tell them I was pregnant that I then had the same odds as anyone else of having a healthy pregnancy - which was lovely after all the time of the odds being against us!

Look forward to chatting to you all!

StargazyDrifter · 28/10/2018 12:20

Excellent idea for a thread! I'm 4w0d, naturally conceived and keeping my fingers crossed. Good to have some positivity. 😊

mum2b2019 · 30/10/2018 22:34

Congrats guys! Im 6 months this week so far no issues with pcos!

Ignore if people online say it can affect breast feeding as I checked with my midwife and she said it doesn't! Lots of stuff out there about pcos and pregnancy, i joined a few Facebook groups but had to leave as people just said stuff to scare people that wasnt true!
