Ooh, love that film, Wonky!

I'm still waiting for lovely head hair. Mine still comes out in the shower as usual. But I'm hoping the belly hair disappears after he's born!

Pinkdonkey · 18/08/2018 12:16

Hi Guys,

Limp hope you are feeling better, having an infection sends your blood sugar up, as does stress, which could be why you are struggling with them at the moment. It's completely rubbish as diabetes makes you more prone to infections and they tend to last longer too Sad Anxiety really sucks, I do find the headspace app Good, I'm also listening to a pregnancy hypnosis and hypnobirthing track (partly crediting hypnofertility with my BFP) which is really relaxing. If the anxiety and feeling low continue see your GP or speak to your midwife, perinatal depression is very common and they should be able to help.

looking hope you are feeling better too.

I'm 6+5 now and the morning sickness has kicked in now, also hugely bloated to the extent that I've had to let my belt out twice. It makes me feel properly pregnant though so not really complaining. Slightly worried people are going to suss me though as my MH support worker told me that I really look pregnant now Confused due to growing belly and boobs. I'm now paranoid that people are staring at my stomach, though I know it's unlikely.

Anyone else's DP find other reasons for your symptoms? When I had to get out the car due to nausea he said it was probably just travel sickness, and although he acknowledges that my belly is swollen he's putting it down to eating too much/having a takeaway last night. He's really excited about Baby, but seems to be in denial of the changes in my body! He also keeps asking if I've had my period yet, or when it's due, despite me repeatedly explaining that pregnant women don't get them and that any bleeding would not be a period Hmm

Si1ver · 18/08/2018 18:25

Thanks @PassTheAfterEights, I'm so glad we were able to help you and congrats on your bfp.

I have to go out again this evening, for the third night in a row and I do NOT want to get off the sofa. I'm going for an hour and coming home. Grump

LimpLettice · 18/08/2018 22:44

Thank you Pink wise words. I've suffered with underlying anxiety in the past and had it well and truly under control, things have just been a bit overwhelming recently. Should have DD home by lunchtime tomo, ExP has been Disney dadding for all he's worth and I'm actually really nervous she won't be pleased to be back. Or that he's going to not do it. The GD diet is going ok although it's bloody hard, I'm hoping she'll be great and I can start to be a bit more positive with things settling back to normal.

Hope you're back on the sofa S1lver, and about to get a much better nights sleep than me. 🙄

Pinkdonkey · 19/08/2018 17:22

Hi limp hope she's home soon, I'm sure she will have missed you even though she was having fun.

WonkyDonk87 · 19/08/2018 20:45

Hi ladies, how are we all doing?

Limp is your DD home now?
How was your night out Si1ver? I use pregnancy tiredness as an excuse to duck out of things early but really I'm just getting old and boring!
Pink I was really bloated up until about 13 weeks, and even now my bump is bigger in the evenings after a day of eating. Has your DH worked out the mechanics of pregnancy yet? I admit his question about periods made me chuckle.

I'm not generally a superstitious person per se...... but is there a generally accepted time that it's ok to start buying stuff? I don't want to leave it too late when I'll be too big and grumpy to make decisions GrinAfter the 20 week scan?

LookingAtTheStars89 · 19/08/2018 21:33

Oh. My. Days. My life at the minute is like a series of unfortunate events! My DD's have fucking head lice and guess who else has them - ME! Bloody ME! In the while 11.5 years I've been a mum we've never had them! I don't know why but it's sent my anxiety levels through the roof Confused

SoozC · 19/08/2018 21:37

Hope you got your daughter back just fine, Limp. x

Wonky, I bought a travel system at about 16/17 weeks. Then, a couple of days ago DH and I bought baby's first outfit/going home outfit! So I have real life baby clothes and little socks and mittens and hats in my house! But that was just after the 20-week scan. I think if you want to, just buy things! Chances are everything will be fine and you can get excited about stuff that little bit earlier!

I am having a bath and think I got too nervous about the temperature because I'm actually feeling pretty cold already and I've not been in long. Baby's not wriggling like I thought they were supposed to in warm water either, although that could be because I can't actually fill the bath enough to get my bump underneath the surface! I had some chocolate to eat and just put it on my bump to stop it getting wet!

WonkyDonk87 · 19/08/2018 21:46

Uh-oh Looking! Smelly nit-lotion for you, a Sunday teatime treat in our childhood.

Thanks Sooz. Currently debating whether to inherit a cot from my sister (nice style but well used and with teeth marks from DN) or to splash out on a new one with matching drawers from John Lewis. Grin

LimpLettice · 19/08/2018 21:46

She's home! Thanks for asking. Very tired and clingy, her and me Grin but we've had a wonderful afternoon. One of her fish had babies this morning and she was grimly fascinated to watch the new mum gobble up a few...interesting conversation about birth and motherhood with an 8yo! Nursery net purchased, 6 babies saved!

Wonks I waited til after 20 weeks but only just. Partly paranoid but I suddenly thought ffs, nothing I did made the last ones go wrong, superstition or not. It's quite nice to gradually sort stuff and not have to do it all huge and broke!

Looking my DD has extremely long hair and we've had them a few times. Her and me eek. Vile, horrible things. Nitty gritty and conditioner really do work best but it's hard to do your own. If DH is squeamish I recommend doing the best you can in the bath then straightening like a mad thing for a few washes. When she was born, my then SDs turned up crawling on their first visit and my pfb lunacy went wild, it's awful the first time. Now I cover her in tea tree and touch wood nothing for ages.

LookingAtTheStars89 · 19/08/2018 21:58

@WonkyDonk87. Ah no stinky lotion for me. I didn't feel comfortable enough putting it on with being pregnant.

@limplettice One of mine has very long and one has curly! I put the lotion on them although it didn't kill my five year olds lice Sad so I have resorted to conditioner and combing. I had them once when I was 11 and remember being mortified then lol.

WonkyDonk87 · 19/08/2018 22:20

@LookingAtTheStars89 It was a regular occurrence for my siblings and I to be lined up in age order outside the bathroom, awaiting our turn for the dreaded treatment. It was always me (long haired youngest sibling) that brought them into the house and my teenage sisters were NOT impressed BlushGrin

SoozC · 19/08/2018 22:36

I remember having to have breathing breaks outside the bathroom because the stuff smelt so bad! I'm sure it was me that brought them in - another long-haired child!

Funnily enough, as a teacher I've never got them, even when teaching reception and having waist-length hair. I guess I've perfected my teacher glare so it works on lice too! Grin

Hope you get it sorted, Looking.

Glad your daughter is back all good, Limp, and had the learning experience of babies and life cycles...! Not sure I could handle that. I had a class pet die in an infants class and I was so not ready to deal with 30 mourning children!

Si1ver · 20/08/2018 12:48

I did come home after a couple of hours, pleading pregnancy exhaustion. Everyone else there was very drunk.

Sorry about your nits @LookingAtTheStars89. I remember having them a couple of times as a child and my mother telling me that they only liked clean hair. IT DIDN'T MAKE ME FEEL ANY BETTER ABOUT IT MOTHER. Ahem

There are some bits of having a child I'm not looking forward to. Nits are one of them.

Shudder. DD got threadworm at about 2.5. I nearly died. The most disgusting thing ever seen in a nappy 😷 and a pig to clear.

We had a cousin whose mum never ever treated them, so the nit lotion came out every single time we saw them. And we spent 6 weeks together every summer, then spent September leaning over the bath while my mum cursed. The bits no one tells you.

SoozC · 21/08/2018 17:42

You are not inspiring confidence and enthusiasm for the coming years, here, guys!! Grin

WonkyDonk87 · 23/08/2018 10:11

Another Yammer has had a BFP ☺️ Wish they could all join us.

DoAsDreamersDo · 23/08/2018 10:26

Ah, it's lovely when a Yammer gets a BFP x

Si1ver · 23/08/2018 11:29

It is isn't it. I love how all the yammers root for each other.

LimpLettice · 23/08/2018 14:32

Yay for yammer bfps I'll go stalk Smile

NimbleKnitter · 23/08/2018 19:07

Just a drive by to say hi! Feel for you all - I’m slowly starting to feel like my body is my own again (despite breastfeeding, which was clearly designed by a man).

It doesn’t last forever (also my current mantra)

LimpLettice · 23/08/2018 20:50

Hey Nimble! How is it all going? BF is a bit pants to start with for a lot of people. I found about 6 weeks in it suddenly got so easy, and then I was all who the hell wants to make up feeds, look, no hands Grin

Whooping cough vaccine today. Ouch. Nurse says it'll probably be good a sore for a few days. Yay, coz I'm not sticking enough needles in my skin already. Dietician was really happy with my blood sugar results though which is good. Growth scan end of next week will be v interesting.

NimbleKnitter · 23/08/2018 21:15

The whooping cough vaccine hurts more if you’ve recently had a tetanus booster - it’s basically your body fighting off the tetanus in the jab (because we don’t have just whooping cough vaccines, only combined ones)

If it hurts, it means your body is doing what it’s supposed to! Small consolation I know.

NimbleKnitter · 23/08/2018 21:16

And yeah, I’m gritting my teeth to get to 6 weeks. Because so far, it’s been utter bullshit.

Exhausting and boring
