As we enter month 5 of our pregnancies we need a 5th thread!

Good luck to everyone having their 20 week scan this/next week :)

Sorry about your FiL BertieBotts Sad

Well the scan didn’t go too well cos baby was hiding it’s face! They’ve kindly said I can go back later this afternoon for another go so fingers crossed.

NikkiL123 · 26/05/2018 16:46

@BertieBotts sorry to hear about FIL 😢

@peterpanwendy sounds wonderful! I love centre parcs!

@StrawberryLemonade Little man did the same for us soooo frustrating, we waiting half an hour and they tried again, got some better pics but he pretty much had his hand right over his face most of the time!

NikkiL123 · 26/05/2018 16:49

@Emmasmum2013 @SpriteGirl been shopping today 🙊 found a bag for the hospital and bought most things from your lists that i borrowed 👍🏼. Couldn't find any suitable pyjamas/baggy t-shirts so will go another day for them and still looking for coming home outfit for baby but other than think i have done pretty well.

@NikkiL123 wooo well done!! I really need to make a start in mine but I think I’ll just wait until I get back off holiday in a month or so.

I had one of the sangenic bins last time. I know some people swear by them but I wasn’t hat fussed on mine. The replacement cartridges are a bit expensive and when you empty it, it does stink. No matter what the packaging says about keeping odours locked away. I just ended up putting dirty nappies in a nappy sack and in the wheelie bin. I’d double bag particularly gruesome ones!

NikkiL123 · 26/05/2018 18:00

@Emmasmum2013

NikkiL123 · 26/05/2018 18:01

@Emmasmum2013 sorry posted too soon 😂. Lucky lady going on holiday where you off too?

Ahhh it was reduced from £27 to £10 in mothercare so if i dont use it im not that fussed but i'm a sucker for a gadget 😂

Gem173 · 26/05/2018 18:42

Ive got one of those nappy bins in white :) sitting waiting to be used!

milney25 · 26/05/2018 18:46

@NikkiL123 we bought one for a tenner too. Figured if we don't use it, then it's not the end of the world! It looks like you had fun with your shopping spree and that's the main thing!

NikkiL123 · 26/05/2018 19:01

@Gem173 @milney25 apparently you have wasted your money too 😂😂 he is such a delight my OH 🙊. X

Emmasmum2013 · 26/05/2018 19:07

If they’re only a tenner I might get one too 😂
I did like having a bin there in the room for the nappy, I just didn’t like emptying it haha!

We’re off to Majorca on 19th June.
I can not wait! Have to get a letter signed by the doc though to say I’m ok to fly but it’ll be fine.

NikkiL123 · 26/05/2018 19:08

@Emmasmum2013 get to mothercare sharpish there was only 4 pink and this blue one left in my local one today and they said wont be getting any more.

Hope you have a lovely holiday x

Emmasmum2013 · 26/05/2018 19:12

Oh also!! My wedding rings are getting too tight 😭 so they’re going to have to come off soon. I’m devastated because I love my wedding and engagement rings to bits and really didn’t want to go ringless for the rest of the pregnancy (I’ll just drive myself mad trying to fiddle with them when they’re not there)

But I have discovered silicone wedding rings!! I got a mother of pearl effect one from a company called MiBand (through Etsy)
It’s not come yet, but it’ll be great for holidays and I won’t have to worry about anything in hospital. If you need surgery they don’t like you to have jewellery and I don’t want to not be able to get them off if I really need to!

Emmasmum2013 · 26/05/2018 19:16

@NikkiL123 I will thank you! X

NikkiL123 · 26/05/2018 19:21

@Emmasmum2013 my rings came off two weeks ago 😢 my fingers swell up when its hot any way was just getting to the point they were going to have to cut them off if i didnt take them then. At least you can keep them safe and not have to worry about if they needed to be cut off

milney25 · 26/05/2018 19:43

@Emmasmum2013 @NikkiL123 my rings came off today too 😢

Gem173 · 26/05/2018 20:35

Still got my ring on :)
And sorry to hear about ur FIL @bertiebotts ❤️

somersetsinger · 26/05/2018 21:31

Sorry to hear about your FIL, BertieBotts.

My wedding and engagement rings are still on, but I can feel the tingling fingers of carpal tunnel syndrome at night now. It was much worse last time round, so not complaining.

I'm still using the sangenic nappy bin from last time round and have found it very good. I empty it outside, to reduce the smell. We get the refills in bulk on Amazon, which makes them cheaper. You will still need nappy bags for the change bag, to use out and about.

I inflated the birthing ball a few days ago and am finding it very comfortable now that the bump is frankly crushing my insides. DD thinks it's hilarious, too. She likes rolling it around and sitting on my (almost non existent) lap for a bounce.

BertieBotts · 26/05/2018 21:33

Thanks all. We were looking at nappy bins but I'm highly suspicious of those cartridge ones as I think they just get you to spend more money. We live in a flat so I think it would be useful for us but we'll get one which takes normal bin bags rather than anything which coats loads of money. I do tend to think you can probably just get a normal bin though?

StrawberryLemonade · 27/05/2018 07:58

We have a sangenic nappy bin from last time but probably won’t use it again. Less smelly to put the dirty nappies in nappy bags by the door then straight in the wheelie bin!

Going to pick up the gym ball from my mums today so I can start some gentle exercises the physio recommended to help my pelvic pain. I bet DD thinks the ball is amazing though

YouCantBeSirius · 27/05/2018 08:21

Sorry about your FIL Bertie Flowers

Gem173 · 27/05/2018 09:25

Anyone got any travel changing mats that they recommend? I’m struggling to find one I like and oh wants one with sides so the baby won’t roll off of whatever we put it on. But I’ve explained to him that one with sides would take up too much room and a blow up one is useless lol he’s still adamant we need one with sides.

Gem173 · 27/05/2018 09:26

I want one that would fit in my pram, it’s only small as it’s a mothercare journey sothe basket isn’t huge on the pram

peterpanwendy · 27/05/2018 11:32

@Gem173 have you got your changing bag? Most of them come with a little mat inside! And also most places you go have paper ones to put down on top of the changing table.
Also baby won't be able to roll or move for ages and by the time they can you will have mastered nappy changing to a fine art 👌🏼 x
