Someone please give my head a wobble..
So as you all know I thought I would be 8+1 today, scan makes me 6+6 today with a heartbeat. I've noticed since today, my boobs are less sore, I'm less tired and less nauseous. Obviously I'm thinking the worst and it means that my levels are falling. I've done another pregnancy test (had some left over) and dark positive. I'm also a lot less thirsty, still having cramps though, but been having these since my BFP. What are the chances of MC after a HB?

Rachie1986 · 27/04/2018 13:39

I think if there's a heartbeat that's a really good sign!!

My scan at epu today was good. They can't see anything to worry about so all ok for now. They will do another scan to check at 11w. Phew! Thanks for good wishes x

Gemsie1984 · 27/04/2018 13:44

@Rachie1986 that must be reassuring!

Rachie1986 · 27/04/2018 13:47

It was.

Please try not to worry Gemsie, i know it's so easy too, but the chance of miscarriage drops after seeing a heartbeat, and maybe you are reading into (lack of) symptoms too much now you're worrying?

Gemsie1984 · 27/04/2018 13:56

@Rachie1986 - thank you. I'm trying to be level headed about it but it's hard. I suppose there's nothing to do if it's going to happen then it will. I'm praying it won't though. I know the beans are so tiny at this point that inaccuracies can occur.. but 9 days?

Rachie1986 · 27/04/2018 14:05

Do you know when you definitely ovulated? You could be a few days ahead and they could have measured a bit small, that's not necessarily far-fetched. I do get the worry though, but great to see a heartbeat!

balalalala · 27/04/2018 14:11

@rachie1986 that's such good news! How reassuring!

Most of my symptoms have dropped off too, but I do remember that from last time. The one that is sticking around is that I can't face chocolate! I'm normally a total chocoholic! So weird!

Gemsie1984 · 27/04/2018 14:12

Yes I ovulated late. I only DTD once last month as was ill quite a bit. That was CD18. Had strong OV pains and EWCM CD19. Got a BFP CD27. Hopefully that threw the dates a bit.. possibly by 5 days?

Usernamechecksout · 27/04/2018 14:22

@Gemsie1984 the sonographer told me at 6 weeks that measurements can be very inaccurate. It really depends on where and how the sac has implanted into the womb. It’s hard to measure. That you saw a heartbeat is good. When I had a mmc I was measuring two weeks behind but didn’t see the heartbeat, so I knew it was bad news.

AaronPurrSir · 27/04/2018 16:06

This week has been the toughest so far, I'm 9 weeks tomorrow. Been so tired, heading to bed at 9pm most nights. On the plus side I've never slept so well in my life! Hormones are raging and I had a full blown crying meltdown over absolutely nothing the other night.

I swear over the last 2 days I've started getting the tiniest beginnings of a bump!

Is anyone else having the downs, edwards and patau's screenings? I'm going in for my bloods for it in a few weeks. It's not something I'd thought about before but now I'm having it I'm worried!

GoldilocksTheGraceless · 27/04/2018 17:07

Hey @AaronPurrSir sorry to hear you're so tired!! I'm not sure what the tests involve, are they just blood tests?

AaronPurrSir · 27/04/2018 17:23

@goldilocksthegraceless it’s just blood tests at first, then they look at the fluid in the baby’s neck at the 12 week scan. They use the blood and scan results to determine if you are “at risk” and if you are, you have the horrible test where they take amniotic fluid from your womb which tells them for certain.

MissMedusa · 27/04/2018 18:25

Gemsie, you definitely will have ovulated late if you only DTD on CD18. Realistically, the earliest you could have ovulated is CD17 and more likely CD19 or even later so you could definitely be out by 5 days or possibly even more. Taking that into consideration and that early scans can be inaccurate you probably don't have anything to worry about.

Yukka · 27/04/2018 19:53

@gemsi in week 8 your placenta takes over so many women experience an ease in hormone symptoms (including me!) After visible heartbeat risk of misscarriage is less than 10% according to stats. Dates are not accurate until 12 week scan so you kinda need to Take the info with a pinch of salt, the key is the heartbeat...

@goldilocks and @aaron I'll be going for the tests at 12 weeks too, when I went for private scan they gave me a leaflet on private chromosome test that checks baby's DNA from your blood. It's zero risk to baby and not invasive like amniotic. However, it's £900!! Ouch! X

My wife is expecting our first in December, and since you ladies are at a similar stage, can you offer any advice for severe nausea? She gets frequent migraines too so that's not helping :(

Mum0918 · 28/04/2018 07:41

How is everyone feeling today? Smile

JustCallMeTheOven · 28/04/2018 07:46

Morning mum, I've been feeling really anxious the last few days about mc because I wasn't as sick yesterday as I was the day before, I've got an early scan on Monday so just need to keep positive until then.

Yukka · 28/04/2018 09:04

I'm feeling good @mum0918 lovely 9 hours sleep....:) still having weird dreams though. How are you?

@dino anything with ginger- ginger tea, biscuits, ginger ale brownies with ginger. I personally found hash browns in the morning helped too but I haven't had it too badly. Depends what she can stomach. If she's really ill you might get something over the counter that's safe, or anti sickness from gp. Good luck!

@sorry your feeling anxious @justcall my symptoms have eased too this week. How many weeks are you? X

Mum0918 · 28/04/2018 09:45

@justcallme aww how far are you along?

@yukka yeah i had a good ish sleep, had the dogs in my bed so didnt have much room to myself til about 3am. Finally see the doctor on Tuesday and going ask for a scan early as im soon have a flight

Dinofanatic · 28/04/2018 11:02

@Yukka thanks for the helpful hints! She likes ginger so I'll see what to get. I ordered one of those wrist things too. Not sure if it'll work or not but willing to try anything. She normally gets medication for the sickness from migraines but she can't take them now. I spoke to the pharmacist yesterday and she said she can't give her anything, and should see the GP if really bad. We'll see how it goes. Thanks!

JustCallMeTheOven · 28/04/2018 11:10

I think I'm around 6/8 weeks but unsure due to irregular periods so it's a complete guess I have this scan on Monday though so hopefully they'll be able to tie us down to a date I feel pretty crappy again today though and have already been nauseous again so maybe yesterday was just too busy to notice xx

Mum0918 · 28/04/2018 11:47

@justcallme ah i jope so. I hope the scan goes well on Monday for you. X

mrsd1103 · 28/04/2018 14:02

At what point do you stop with the testing (I've been using ic) and accept the test is right?
I'm driving myself mad in disbelief and bought a boots own brand today in case the ic's were wrong. It's clearly positive, so can someone give me a shake and make me accept it??
I guess last month's mc is to blame.

Gemsie1984 · 28/04/2018 15:06

It's hard, I'm 7-8 weeks and tested yesterday too because I had a wobble. Still positive! Just try and relax and enjoy, easier said than done I know!!
