Belly down in Moses basket

Could I pick my littley on her belly in the Moses basket? I know you aren't meant to do so hence asking but for some reason tonight she won't settle on her back. She's only 3 days old yet too

Littley? What is this?

BetterEatCheese · 27/03/2018 01:41

I really wouldn't, she is too small. What if she puts her face in the mattress and can't life her head off? Too risky for me

Makingworkwork · 27/03/2018 01:41

You can do but obviously it increases the risk of SIDS. Can you safely cosleep instead?

Makingworkwork · 27/03/2018 01:42

3 day old babies rarely settle in a Moses basket as they want Mum which I why I suggested cosleeping.

TroubledLichen · 27/03/2018 01:46

I know you aren't meant to
Well you’ve answered your own question... Put the baby to sleep on their back. It’s safer and reduces the risk of SIDS. Your health visitor should have given you some information on safe sleep. If not then I suggest you look up the lullaby trust guidelines.

However, if by littley you mean a small fury animal and not a baby then sure go ahead and pop them in the basket any old how!

Lol with littley I mean my 3 day old daughter

She must have tummy ache or something going on at the minute where she's settled laid on my chest but as soon as we lay her in the Moses basket she's wriggling and crying

Thanks for replying, the main reason why I asked was my niece was laid on her tummy when she was first born while she had to stay in special care unit but I suppose there they are constantly monitored

I'll leave her on me and get ready for a long night

She just wants Mummy. Please look up safe cosleeping on the Isis website. Sleeping on you is not safe.
