Hello!

Have tested very early so not surprised to have to start this one off! Due 8 April I think.

Anyone joining me?

Feeling fat and lumpy (well fatter and lumpier than usual!) today

azure - I've been away for a while but wondered how you were getting on. I was so sad to hear what happened to you. I don't know if you'll read this at all but I am thinking about you. x

bronniemuldoon · 13/10/2004 12:45

Hi guys

Glad everyone's getting good results for their scans - it makes it all feel much more real doesn't it?

I've very definitely popped now and am proudly sporting maternity wear - yay!!! 006 had a laugh at your description of the safari suit. My maternity stuff is only a couple of years old but I'm looking at it with some incredulity! I've been looking for maternity stuff on e-bay and have got completely addicted . If you search worldwide - there's loads of stuff from Gap maternity in the States (lots of it new) and the exchange rate is great at the moment. Just invested in a brand new Gap winter coat for the grand total of £17 plus p&p so feeling v. thrifty. My DH thinks it's all a big joke but he stopped laughing when I produced a really nice winter coat for our DS for £1.50. hee hee.

LOL 006. Just snorting quietly to myself here .

Think my worst was a gingham dress (hideous!) which at the time I thought quite cool (as in airy!) and flowy but looking at the photographic evidence just made me look like an elephant draped in a tablecloth. Have you ever seen the Simpsons episode where Homer tries to put on loads of weight and work from home? He ends up in a miu miu kaftan and a baker boy hat. Think that's the look I'm aiming for this time....

Had my scan this morning!!!!
One baby, wriggling away happily! Obligingly did everything the sonographer wanted, she did the nuchal thing and v. low risk on Downs (less than 1 in 3000). She gave us 5 pictures! Could see everything - spine, ribs, toes, cord, face, hands - just as amazing second time round (more so actually as it was a better scan machine!).
Very chuffed. I'm going to tell the PCC at the meeting tonight and then announce it in church on Sunday.... cue a deluge of knitted cardigans probably!

Roobie · 14/10/2004 18:52

That's really good news miranda2 - I've still got to wait another 6 weeks until I get my scan. My booking in appointment isn't even for another 2 weeks (I will be 16 weeks then!).

DelGirl · 14/10/2004 21:05

great news Miranda

I've finally bought a pair of smart trousers for work today. I'm sure I felt some movement today and my usual trousers were really right just at the bottom of my bump. Hard to know what is baby and what is me mainly me I guess but there is a definite bump starting hooray. Still struggling to find smart blouses for work though.

Roobie · 14/10/2004 22:21

Forgot to say congratulations to you Delgirl regarding your scan and also to all those others who have had reassuring news. I have told work and family now but, as I still haven't had a scan yet (or even seen a midwife!)I can't help feeling slightly uneasy. I have no reason to think anything is amiss though as I definitely feel pregnant and still have m/s etc. So unless I have some terrible incapacitating illness I guess it's all systems go!!!

Tallbird · 15/10/2004 14:27

Well, had my 12 week scan yesterday... and there's good news and bad...
Good news is that we saw a heartbeat etc (which I had got myself all worked up that we wouldn't see - as my m/c was at 12 weeks last time).
Bad news is that the nuchal scan came back with a 1 in 11 risk of Downs - and I have a really bad feeling about it all. Booked into Kings for CVS on Monday and am really stressed out.
Don't know whether to tell close friends for moral support, or whether to keep quiet until we konw the result. So far, only dp and my mum know.
Has anyone else been through this ?

aprilmeadow · 15/10/2004 16:49

Hi everyone

Pleased to hear scans are going well!!

Tallbird - My boss had her third child at 41 and her risk following the nuchal fold test was something like 1 in 17 chance downs's and she has a happy healthy son. Fingers crossed that your CVS goes well on Monday.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend
Aprilmeadow x

bronniemuldoon · 16/10/2004 15:40

Oh Tallbird, I really feel for you. Try not to get too stressed (easy for me to say I know). At least you've got a CVS pretty quickly. I also know somebody who had a very high risk of Downs and ended up having a happy healthy baby girl. Good luck on Monday I'll be thinking of you.
xxx

DelGirl · 16/10/2004 16:26

Will be thinking of you on Monday Tallbird. Hope all is well with cvs .

Has anyone 'seen' Seabird around? Further down the thread, she said she was going on holiday but that was a couple of weeks ago. Just wondering how she is.

My m/s finally seems to be on it's way out, hoorah. Just occasional queasyness the past couple of days. The tiredness seems to be back though, but hey I can cope with that any day .

Seabird · 17/10/2004 10:17

Hello all! Was just thinking I must check in and see how everyone is and then saw you were asking after me Delgirl Big congratulations on your scan btw - I was so excited to see your post just after your scan . Congratulations to everyone else on healthy scans too.

Tallgirl - really feeling for you this weekend, and will be thinking of you tomorrow - hope all goes well x

All is fine with me baby-wise but I've been wiped out this week with a horrid headache which really got me down. Thankfully it's gone for now. I looked back at my diary of my last pregnancy and saw that this period was particularly bad for headaches then too so fingers crossed they will ease up later on. The holiday was lovely, very relaxing (probably a bit too much so for dh especially as I'm still having to go to bed at 9pm) So I still don't feel I've shaken off the m/s completely but surely it can't be long now...

Azure - I was so so sorry to hear your sad news. I really really hope it works out for you next time, in the not-too distant future, and that you're getting lots of support in coping with your loss.

I'm off to Wales to stay with my mum this week as dh is away so hope everyone has a good one.

Tallgirl - really hope it all goes well for you, I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. I think I'd keep it quiet for now - time enough to tell people when you have something concrete to tell them. But if you crack and need support, maybe there's a particular friend you could tell? Must be a horrible wait for you, at least they got you a date for the test quickly though. XXXX

motherpeculiar · 17/10/2004 18:41

Tallbird - fingers crossed for you tomorrow. Will be thinking of you and hoping all goes well.

Hope everyone else is good. I've definitely entered the "blooming" phase now, in that I have lots of energy and don't feel so sick anymore. Hurrah. Not so "blooming", or maybe that should be "blooming awful" in that I have a face full of spots. Boo hoo. Wish I was one of those pregnant women whose skin improved with the hormone influx rather than reverting to acne-ridden teenager.

Nevermind.

Have a great week all.

MP

Seabird · 17/10/2004 19:30

I'm with you with the spotty face motherpeculiar . AND I'm still feeling sick & tired - at 15weeks + 2 days! [crosspatch face]

actually the crosspatch face is more to do with the fact that dh is off to shanghai tomorrow for a week with work and yet refused to bath dd this evening because "sometimes I prefer to do other things" - you can imagine my response!! I think the hormones might be making me overreact slightly because normally dh is great with dd (and admittedly the "other things" was clearing up the dinner things) but still - grrr!!

Hello all

Glad to hear that the scans are going well. Tallbird - good luck for tomorrow - my nuchal was 1 in 109 which seemed quite "high" to me, but have decided not to go for further tests, but if mine had been similar to yours I think I would do what you are doing, although its a horrible decision to have to make - but I'm sure everything will be fine.

Thought my ms had gone, but have spent a good part of today just lying on sofa feeling queasy and had an upset stomach too. Getting really fed up of feeling grotty all the time now - it must stop soon??!!!!

leander · 18/10/2004 09:54

Hi everyone,
Goodluck today tallbird, hope everything will be ok.
Great to read about all your scans you all must be so pleased .Well I have got my scan today and I am half excited and half nervous,i am 14 wks so it is pretty late for my first scan, I just hope they dont keep me waiting too long sitting with a full bladder is not pleasant.
I am absolutely huge and well into my maternity clothes except for work where i am squeezing into my uniform trousers,So hopefully after today I will be able to wear comfy clothes and tell everyone at work.My dad has gone into hospital for an operation today so I am also a bit tense about that so a bit of a stressful day allround today.
By the way I used to be mitzi.

miranda2 · 18/10/2004 11:49

Hi, hope everything is OK Tallbird. I prayed for you in Morning Prayer. Do you get the results straight away or is there more waiting?

strawberry · 18/10/2004 11:56

Thinking of you Tallbird.

MS has passed hooray but still waiting to feel blooming marvellous. With DS I felt great, loads of energy etc but hasn't happened yet. perhaps with toddler running around I won't be as rested as 1st pg. I've started antenatal yoga which involves chatting, sleeping and some stretching - fab!

I had my scan and it was amazing, the midwife was taking a while and i was getting really worried then she said "I can't see properly its wriggling about so much" I just burst into tears.Everything is normal and my due dates were spoton so it is still 19th April for me.When the midwife shoed us the screen the baby turned towards us it was fantastic.

Merlin · 18/10/2004 20:29

Great news leander - same due date as me!! Who will get there first I wonder - my ds was 3 weeks early so who knows?!!

Tallbird · 19/10/2004 12:36

Thanks to everyone for all your kind thoughts - it meant a lot to me.
Had the CVS yesterday. 3 hour wait at Kings (understand that this is pretty standard), but all the staff there were fantastic. The CVS itself isn't a bundle of laughs - but at least it is over now - and should have preliminary results back by the start of next week, so fingers crossed...
One thing that I hadn't realised is that increased nuchal thickness can also be an indicator for cardiac problems, which we won't be able to find out about until the 20 week scan. But let's deal with one thing at a time.
Hope everyone else is well.
