8 week is also called your booking in appointment. They weigh you and do your height, check yours and any family history, urine sample, Previous pregnancies etc. Takes about 30-40 minutes.
Everyone I know that’s had there’s, they weren’t allowed their partner/DH etc in with them but my DH came in with me so might be down to the midwife

Your welcome Smile
The heart beat isn’t usually heard until around 24/26w if I remember rightly

8 week appointment is as said, about you more than the baby. In my area, the midwife will listen for the heartbeat at 16 week appointment.

Our surgery has an information sheet on their website page that breaks down what each appointment involves so it may be worth seeing if yours does.

@PinkAvocado thankyou!

It depends on your doctors. We had an ultrasound at 7 weeks and we heard a heartbeat then. This was alongside all of the other checks

No sorry, just a paperwork session, they'll book your first scan for 12 weeks at the booking appointment though. The heart isn't developed enough before then to hear it reliably, so they can't offer it.

@hlr1987 thanks I had an 8 week ultrasound in the end now off to my 12 weeks scan
