Can't believe we need more space... again...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I've also been counting the weeks left at work - probably 7 to go, 8 at a push if I feel up to it. And we've also sorted out a nursery ready for next year. I'm planning on going back at end Jan, but part time, so am having to fill in forms to apply for that, and they want to know what days I want to work. Which means that I need to know what days I can get childcare at the nursery we've chosen to use (only looked at the one, seemed nice, had a recommendation and was VERY convenient at 5 minute walk from DH's office). So don't feel you're on your own in sorting these things out early - if they've got to be done they've got to be done.

10 weeks to go to Mat Leave.

What is everyone wearing this summer. I believe it is meant to be hot and Pregnancy doesn't do shorts well. Jeans will be too hot. Any ideas?

Caroline1852 · 30/04/2007 20:04

Clothes wise - does pregnancy do any clothes well? I have recently decided that accessories are the way to go: really nice earrings or a really nice necklace. I have yet to explore a hat perhaps or a new pair of sun glasses. All clothes, whether expensive or cheap, whether maternity intended or otherwise intended, just make me look like a worn out bag lady. Hey but my skin is really nice and my hair is really thick and shiney! I am currently living in Jojo maman bebe jeans (so comfy) and various vest/floaty smock tops in bright colours and a few wrap tops (on top) for more dressy occasions. I don't go out to work so it makes it easier I suppose. I haven't worn a dress or skirt for about 2 months! Will we ever be the same again?

berrysmum · 30/04/2007 20:11

Typhoonsmum - How's the tummy button pain? A hot bath took mine away tonight. Certainly is weird though. I got some nice long-ish shorts (does that make sense? A couple of inches above the knee anyway!) from H&M. They were black and fit nice and comfy below the bump. Not that I think I will be wearing them anywhere other than the back yard - I am having the same trouble as Trimum2. My right leg is unmarked, but for some strange reason the left has all those ugly thread veins around the ankle. I have been wearing a support bandage and that helps with the achiness.I am on my feet for too long really too, but finding it difficult to sit. Those of you who work with the public will understand when I say that customers will not be kept waiting, pregnant or not!!! Only three more weeks to go and then I have finished until January.

madmumNika · 30/04/2007 22:37

Jennster- good luck with the test & the anti-D!

It's scary reading about us all counting down the time left at work.... I'm self-employed so not planning to start maternity benefit until as late as possible...no annual leave for me! It's a hard one to know what to do...I think so long as I can do some work I'm going to keep at it as do need the money (having one of those weeks where washing machine is making horrid sounds, fridge looks close to packing in etc.!).

Finally feeling big... Lower back really noticing it, and like others have said when standing/walking for long periods I am getting exhausted... Wish DS liked to sit down more!!! Living in very unattractive dungarees but not seeing many people and they are v comfy so don't care!!

Hugs to you all xx

Kyte - I really feel for you. Being pregnant is hard enough, let alone having to deal with that kind of narrow minded attitude! I hope that you do stick to your guns and get what you deserve!

Well the pain in my tummy has not gone away. Got myself into a state last night desperately wishing LO to move. As soon as DH put his hand on my tum the LO started kicking and moving around!!! Relief!

Have not gone to work today and called the Midwife who suspects it may be ligament stretching or possibly a pulled muscle (So easy to do apparently!)....She asked me to think over what I did at the weekend....the list has shocked me!

Walked the dog - who constantly pulls on teh lead, Ironed for 2 hours, vacuumed for an hour, planted plants, mopped the floor, changed the bed etc etc...I know its no more than most but the list does add up and I wonder why I have a stomach ache!

As for clothes, I too have not put a skirt or dress on since early pregnancy, they just look awful on me! I think I am going to go for lightweight cropped leggings and floaty tops. Have seen a few pregnant ladies with that look and it worked well...Hope it does for me too or I'm stuck in jeans and t's!

Justabout - I hope you are okay. Sorry to hear about your bleed. Take care of yourself and try not to over do it! (I'm a fine one to talk!)

Okay all, I hope that you are feeling fine and enjoying the sunshine. I am at home and feel a bit lost! Can't do anything and desperately want to go out but DH has given me my orders! Yeah right, like I ever listen to him anyway!

Chooster · 01/05/2007 10:32

Take it easy myfairone!!! I know what you mean about thinking of all the stuff you do physically - it mounts up doesn't it!

Kyte - that really does sound like a fight you've got there. At least there are people on your side. I didn't realise that the church wasn't subject to the same employment laws as commercial organisations. Hope you are doing OK.

Kyte, I hate to suggest it, but what about crying? Find men have a problem with women crying. Seriously, its interesting that the face of the Anglican church is inclusive (well more than RC church) and at the coal face it's a different picture. Good luck.

That tummy button pain went. Had forgotten about that actually. My issue now - apart from clothes- is the belly button piercing.

Do I take it out or not? Took it out with DD and had toget it redone as it closed up within a week. This time I have a plastic bar that is meant to bend with me so not be an issue. DP is on at me to take it out. I don't want to pay £30 to get it redone again.
I don't personally know anyone who kept theirs in and was fine. I've heard how theses plastic bars are great but it is always by the people who are selling them. Don't want to leave it in and have it so horribly stretched that I wouldn't show my stomach again anyway. But if I take it out I may have to pay £30 when it wold have been fine if I'd left it.
I know it is a bit predicting the future and there are no answers for sure but has anyone any ideas

Just ordered some more plastic ones off a seller on Ebay. (1.99 for 3 + P+P) They arrived this morning and they were quite long. Tried one an I actually prefer them longer whilst pregnant. Did trim it a little bit tho. Lets hope they do what they are meant to.
So if our stomachs are a mess then we will be a mess together.

When reading through these posts it really highlights what a mixed (but amazing) bunch we are! We are all going through the same process, but all different. We are such a mixed bag! We are all happily talking and discussing different aspects of pregnancy (maternity leave, the church, belly button rings, fashion!!!!! and the list goes on!)

Just made me smile to read this!

Hope all are well tonight. I broke the news to my DH that I cannot 'do' like I normally do and I dont think its sunk in yet! Maybe it will when I show him the hoover!

Have a great evening all, I'm going to lay on the couch!

Jamantha · 01/05/2007 19:00

You've made me feel better that it's not just me myfairone. Haven't done a thing towards clearing up since I got in from work. Just can't be bothered. The effort of finding travel insurance that will cover me going on holiday this Friday at this stage of pregnancy was enough for me. (Found one on the end thanks to a MN recommendation, yay!) Will have to go and cook in a moment though - got meat out of the freezer this morning and it's been sitting out all day so prob best to eat it tonight and not take the takeout option.
