Divaskychick- I know people with implants that have bf.
Doesnt it depend on where the implant is, behind or infront of the muscles etc. Also on if any of the ducts got cut duriing surgery.. Hopefully everything will be ok for you.
My mum took me to the outskirts of LA for my 17th Birthday,(many years ago..lol) we stayed in Chatsworth as we had friends there. Unfortunatley I spent alot of time in bed and thea few expensive hours at the hospital as had sever gastro... (cant spell so wont attempt..lol..)

I cant believe how excited I have all of a sudden become about lo.. I am going to start getting impatient soon, even though I know still have between 3 and 8 weeks.. (going for 37week and 42week there!!)

looking at past threads alott of 3rd timers seem to go at about 36-38 weeks.. heres hoping for 37-38weeks... I really am impatient arent I.. I will be sat here at 40+ weeks drumming my fingers.. waiting impatiently..lol.

DivaSkyChick · 31/05/2007 14:58

Twoplus - your excitement is contageous! But I'm not til the very end of July - so I've got what, between seven and eleven weeks? ACK!

Yes, re depends how they did it but I'm not sure what is good or bad. :TMI Alert: They went thru the nipple (bottom half cut but not top half) and under the muscle.

Gotta say then never looked so good as now, tho!

Kyte - At nine months your baby will be on a mainly solids diet so I really don't think it will be an issue. My DD (now 18 months) was 3 meals a day (weetabix, lunch then tea) plus an early morning milk feed and an after bath milk feed at around 7/8 months and so it has remained.

Caroline1852 · 31/05/2007 15:38

Kyte - She might be crawling (v likely) by then and be very happy to go to the nursery for some of the sessions (if you and your DH are happy with it) and the remainder sessions you and your DH could share the childcare? Seems a shame not to go, if you both enjoy it.

Myfairone · 31/05/2007 15:48

Hi Divaskychick, welcome to Mumsnet. I too am due 29th July so I guess it will be just us two on here by then! lol...(oops, I think Firststar may still be here then too!)

Are you still living in LA or are you in UK now? I lived in LA many years ago and still smile when I think back to the mad time I spent there!

Kyte - They really don't make it easy for you do they?! I'm guessing that Caroline's news was good and if you assume that baby will mostly be on solids then it may not be as hard as you originally thought.

Big hugs to all.

JAM - Wishing your Dad well...hope you managed to get some sleep today and calm yourself and LO.

Have a great evening all...I'm off home to eat and pretend to sleep!

madmumNika · 31/05/2007 17:03

Kyte- I was still breastfeeding when I returned to work (DS was 7 months old) and by then he would feed mainly from me once in the evening, once at night and once first thing...then take just 1-2 feeds during the day at nursery which were milk I'd expressed. I used to express for 20 mins in my lunch-hour and got enough for those daytime feeds (using a double electric pump which was brilliant). My 9 months your LO may only be wanting a breastfeed in the evening & first thing, and you could either express milk for any daytime drinks or use formula milk for those. DS self-weaned at 10.5 months and some self-wean before then, so it's hard to know! I am sure between you and DH you could juggle day-care at the conference and might find if LO could enjoy nursery for a few hours each day. Try not to worry too much I am sure you will manage a way to do what you'd like to and look after LO too!

DivaSkyChick · 31/05/2007 17:18

Myfairone, I live in Fulham - SW London now. Lived in Hollywood and on Venice Beach, god I miss the beach! Loving the weather today tho, cannot complain.

JAM - just caught up with your recent rant, that's really rough. Bravo for being so kind to your mom, tho. She's lucky to have you for a daughter.

Firstar - drink more water, gottit!

twoplusone · 31/05/2007 17:37

Divaskychick- where are you having your lo. I was a nanny in wandworth whilst pg with my first, and all my plans for going home to have her went wrong and I had to have her in St georges, Tooting..

Catz - according to the book I have 2 - 2 1/2st is about right for your starting weight. The heavier you are to start off with the less weight it recommends you put on during pregnancy. I've also put on about 2st but as I still weigh less than I did 2 1/2 years ago I am quite happy. My aim is to not be heavier that I was then.

Bilblio - sounds like skin tags. apparently quite common in pregnancy. they might disappear afterwards, but as always, if worried get them checked out.

Kyte I am doing the most stupid things. Doesn't help that I am blonde and pg. I have also been told that the brain doesn't recover. Let's hope that's not true otherwise I'm screwed!

Jamantha sorry your not feeling so great today. Hope you have a better night.

JAM - do we have the same mother?! Mine's about as sensitive/discreet (which is why I tell her nothing!) I am sure you mum didn't mean to upset you. Sorry you had a rough night and I hope you are feeling much better. re the fluid someone told me you have fore and hind waters and that the hind waters are the main ones. the fore waters are just a small amount and they can go weeks before labour actually starts. (I think this is the right way round). Hope your dad is doing well today.

MelissaM · 31/05/2007 18:40

good question about the head being partially engaged. I was told my lo's head is 4/5ths engaged last friday. Should I be getting concerned?

pulapula · 31/05/2007 18:45

I have put on 2 stone already and am not going to worry about it until after I've finished breast-feeding. I put on 4 stone last time round, and lost 3 stone after 18 months, but did find it hard to loose the remainder. I don't think weight gain is directly correlated to weight of baby either - its more to do with what you're eating, and the amount of extra fluid/blood etc.

Regarding breast-feeding, I found it quite difficult and didn't really enjoy it - and was glad when I finally stopped at 8 months. I had a strong "let-down reflex" which my DD didn't like - it would make it very embarrassing when feeding in company as she'd pull herself off choking/crying and milk would spurt out everywhere (and of course my breast would also be in view)!. So its not as easy as we're all led to believe, so best not to decide how long you're going to do it for in advance and just "go with the flow" (pardon the pun).

I attended a local breast-feeding drop-in session which was excellent both for meeting other new mums, and getting tips from experts (Health Visitors and other mums). Your HV should be able to provide details of groups in your area after the birth.

Catz · 31/05/2007 18:45

Thanks Melissa, that's reassuring!

pulapula · 31/05/2007 18:49

Just seen the head engaged discussion.

My DD was 4/5ths engaged at 32 weeks, but was still a week late, so don't think it automatically points to anything, just that it should hopefully find it difficult/ impossible(?) to move and therefore unlikely to be breech.

Also the way the midwife's measure engagement is not to do with how much is engaged but to do with how much they can feel above the pelvis.

Therefore when I was told I was 4/5ths engaged at 32 weeks, I thought "blimey- nearly there then" when it actually meant it was 1/5th engaged. The midwife didn't explain this to me at the time...

hi all, welcome to all newbie July-ers

i tried to breastfeed my dd1 and it unfortunately didnt work out, she was born 5lb and had low apgar and blood sugar so they needed to get a feed into her straight away so gave her one of those little bottles of sma they have in the hosp urgently, i was being taken to high dependency as had problems so i couldnt hold her. I really tried to get her to feed from me in recovery but because her mouth was so tiny she wouldnt latch properly, watch out for babies putting their tongues up to the roofs of their mouths by the way first time mums. My blood pressure was supposed to get better after delivery, i had eclampsia but typical luck for me it didnt! It stayed high and I had to go onto labetalol tablets, which for some reason affected the milk i was producing (well trying to anyway) so after trying for ages to give baby expressed breast milk combined with sma we eventually fully swapped to sma as it was taking soooo long to get enough out for just one feed and i just couldnt keep up. I was really upset about it actually but the mw's and hv's were good at reassuring me that id done all i could. So i'm hoping this time round things will be better.

I have had a nightmare day today. I was getting some cash out the machine when i thought my dd1 went to run off, i turned round to grab her hand and my stomach went straight into one of those bump height metal poles. It REALLY hurt it hurt for about 5 mins then went off. I had to go collect a form from the docs anyway so asked to see a doc just to check me over and i saw one within 10 mins, all fine, baby kicked to doc in the earhole when he was trying to listen to heartbeat thru one of those trumpet looking things Doc said so long as i didnt have any bleeding he wasnt concerned. Scared me though.

From what i remember i was engaged quite early with dd1 but nothing happened except getting even more uncomfortably and a lot of pressure down below.

I was just begining to wonder where you were madmumNika bet its nice to have your house back to just yourselves!

Gonna see if i can read the tonnes of posts now since i was last on......
