Big hugs and sympathies to MMN and huskygirl - sounds like you've both had a rough time.

I'm meant to be relaxing at home today - took the day off after suffering in the heat all week and getting more and tired with less and less sleep each night. But electrician is banging away so not much peace and need to keep out of DH's way as he's studying for work exams. Still, a good excuse to have a lie down on the bed I reckon!

madmumNika · 25/05/2007 14:12

Huskygirl & twoplusone- thanks for your replies (((( ))))

Huskygirl- I am so annoyed on your behalf about your midwife!! She should be doing a much better job than that. I really hope things stay settled for you... I know how scary it can be, especially being quite far from the hospital treating you (in good traffic we're 1.5 hrs away)... I was advised if I experience bad symptoms etc. just to go to my local hospital and they should blue light you to your actual hospital....Might be quicker than driving in our case (or waiting for DP to get home etc.). Maybe worth asking? xxx

Twoplusone- my LO also now has a funny shaped head (dolichocephaly I think) due to low fluid! Was reassured it should go back to normal after delivery!! How quickly did your DD's head go back to normal after her birth if you don't mind me asking? Really hope all is fine for you & LO this time xx

Caroline- great news about your DD's first steps- it's fab isn't it!

Abgirl- thanks for the stats- how are you doing? Hope your DS isn't keeping you running about too much! xxx

Groveregg- DS's eczema is getting worse & worse...think it could be an allergy although GP didn't think so. We already live in a soft water area (lucky us!) so not sure if it would help here... I have started to do extra rinse cycles on washing machine & am hoovering his room daily & might invest in some special anti-dustmite bedding etc. just in case it helps. He's just so itchy all the time bless him. Keeping him cool seems to help... Just hoping dermatologist can do more for him.

Have a great weekend everyone- I have to do a rapid hoover before my Mum arrives as since yesterday the dog seems to have shed half its coat!!! xx

twoplusone · 25/05/2007 16:48

mmn- I think it took a few weeks from what I can remember (it was nearly 11years ago) From the front she looked fine but the back of her head was pointed.
Dont mean to be the bearer of bad news but I think you will be looking at a c-section, for the saftey of the baby, as I explained earlier. However new research may show different.fingers crossed for you hun.xx (DD was born at 36weeks, but this was because my placenta started to fail from 30weeks then by 35weeks had practically stopped working) she had IUGR too and was 4lb14.

Cakehead · 25/05/2007 18:08

Well, I had my extra scan today and it's big and breech... Currently they think he/she weighs 6.6lbs - gulp - as I'm only 35 weeks and DD was 6.15lb when born at 39 weeks. The baby's on the 97% line of everything.
Not sure where this leaves me in terms of breech. Am seeing the consultant in 10 days and I guess they'll tell me. In the meantime, I'm swimming every day trying to turn it. But now I know how big the baby might be, I'm not so convinced I'd have the easy delivery I had with DD!
Anyway, hope everyone else is gearing up for a nice relaxing weekend.

huskygirl · 25/05/2007 20:21

i wish i could change mw cakehead, we live in a small village with only 1 midwife available unfortunately, maybe she was just having a tough day or i was being over sensitive but then again maybe not! Luckily my consultant is lovely and i know i can phone the triage unit at the hosp any time for advice or help, its just a shame thats all.
Do you think they will try and turn your baby if he/she is big and stays breech? How much is it that baby's are supposed to put on in the last few weeks i cant remember? any idea what kind of birth weight u'd be looking at?

i've found it interesting hearing about the low amniotic fluid situations, both on this thread and your other one MMN. It made me wonder why i was allowed to be induced with my fluid too low with dd if it was dangerous for the baby I'd had a scan the day before and been told about the fluid then, and i know the consultants were aware but i was still induced by prostin tablet. my dd was in severe distress towards the end and her heartbeat kept slowing right down (had one of those clips on head). She was born with low apgar and was v.ill. i 'll prob start another thread as its a bit off the subject, just really worried me!

mmn - thanks for advice about blue lighting it! could well be the best way to go!

forgot to add before, i measured 35 weeks at my appointment yest, am 31+3

hope everyone has a great weekend

typhoonsmum · 25/05/2007 21:32

Right this may be my last entry.

At 9am tomorrow we drive to Stoke Little Chef to pick up the niece from hell with DSD.

Drive back to Merseyside to collect DD and MIL from DD swimming lesson and drive up to Holyhead for the holiday from hell.

Maybe it won't be the worst holiday ever. Maybe I'll enjoy myself. Or, more likely, I'll suffer from EXTREME HORMONE OVERLOAD and fall out with the entire family.

Honestly I'm a nice calm person pre- pregnancy.

PS HB is 11.1 a fortnight ago. (I checked it on the hospital computer which I shouldn't have done but I feel more tired this time than I did with DD) I asked in work and 11 is the lowest they'd like you to be without intervening somehow. Thing is the MW's haven't contacted me at all. It probably has dropped lower than that now. Have Iron tablets in medicine cupboard. Should I take them or wait till the midwofes say something.

Caroline1852 · 26/05/2007 12:40

typhoonsmum - My Hb was 10.8 and I was presecribed iron. Your's is only marginally higher. I feel they should have told you you were a borderline "pass". What about taking a week of iron tablets. Then after that take a multi vit with iron (which contains a lower dose of iron that those monster iron tablets) to keep you topped up. I took prescribed iron tablets for a week and now take multi vits with iron most days with the odd day of prescribed iron when I feel very tired. I have also started trying to up my iron intake from food. Branflakes sometimes twice daily and spinach with everything. I am so bored now with the pregnancy!

Justaboutmanaging, my thoughts are with you, hope everything goes ok xxxx

lynnec · 28/05/2007 22:28

Does anyone have any measurements of lo, im starting to panic about the size of this lo or should i say big one

agnesnitt · 28/05/2007 22:45

Looks like you need some positive thoughts JAM, best of luck and I've got some fingers crossed for you.

I had evil cramps a few days ago, seem to have buggered up my left calf muscle in a rather special manner. Got to be loving constant aching. Piffling complaint really, but it makes running to the loo at three in the morning an interesting experience.

Take care everyone.

Agnes

agnesnitt · 29/05/2007 11:17

pokes everyone and wonders if you've all been eaten by various sofas

I had the first 'decent' stretch of sleep in a long time last night. Must have had at least six hours, possibly even seven! I'm near giddy with the shock

Agnes

Groveregg · 29/05/2007 11:58

No it would be a really fat sofa that could eat me!

Justaboutmanaging, hope things are improving with your dad. His situation puts the moaning I feel like doing into perspective which is good in a way.

Terrible weekend, ds has had bug stopping him eating and varied between weak and floppy and then really whingey. Then dh came down with similar and took to his bed for 24 hours. Dh has had a horrible night cough for 8 weeks and after thinking it was clearing up, it has suddenly got worse. My hormones took a dive after all this and I spent all of yesterday morning in tears and completely unable to do anything civilised like get dressed or even have a wash. But things are looking up today, ds had breakfast for the first time for days - as long as he was allowed to do finger painting at the same time (messy!!!), and after dh finally decided to sleep downstairs I have had a good night's sleep like you Agnes.

I was getting bad cramps too and was limping a bit last week as a result, but since I have been making sure I've had lots of yoghurts and milkshakes and the odd banana, things have improved.

Cakehead · 29/05/2007 11:58

Delighted to hear that your sleeping Agnes - I've been a bit better of late, too.

Lynne, what kind of measurements do you mean? For the bump or the actual baby? At my hospital they do that measurement from the top of you pubic bone to fundus - roughly a week per centimetre. Although my bump is lagging behind by 2 weeks. However, the extra scan I had on Friday estimated that the baby is weighing 6.6lb already - gulp - as DD was only 6.15lb when she was born and in theory I have four weeks to go...

catstar · 29/05/2007 12:02

Agnes - I know what you mean - any more than 6 hours sleep and I feel like a new woman. Unfortunately this doesn't happen very often!!! I stayed at a friend's house on Sunday night and had the best night's sleep I'd had for ages - was convinced I wouldn't sleep a wink, strange bed etc.

Lynnec - I've had my "bump" measured but not sure if this is a reliable indicator of the size of the LO. Last week it measured 35cms and I was 33 weeks. I have a midwife appointment this afternoon and will be asking a similar question. My DH was 10lb 12oz at birth, and my mum and two sisters have all had babies well over 9lb!!! I'm 5ft 11, so chances are she could be a whopper . It's making my eyes water just thinking about it!

Justaboutmanaging - hope everything goes ok with your father.

Take care everyone!

Jamantha · 29/05/2007 12:19

Agree about the power of a good sleep - slept better over weekend than I had for a while and generally did feel better for it. For some reason felt down yesterday though (nothing particularly bad though and more positive today). Am now cheered by thought of 13 days at work after today.

Sorry you had a bad weekend though Groveregg.

saf1 · 29/05/2007 12:39

Hi all,

Sorry haven't been on for so long. Not caught up yet.

Just been told 2 weeks ago that s.i.l 's cancer has now become terminal and she only has a few weeks to live. I'm devastated. she has come out of hospital which is good and is now at home. We're desperatly trying to get her 2 children back from the USA. We did buy tickets for them and their father but he refused tickets so my dh and I have lost over £800 quid. the point is that he is just the most selfish person in the whole world and cannot see the bigger picture!!

The saddest part of this is that she is only 37yrs old and has 4 children aged 16yr, 15yr, 11yr and 3.5yrs. We were both pregnant at the same time with her youngest and my oldest lo.

Anyway I hope everyone and their bumps are well sorry to off load on you all.
