My blood pressure has stayed stable so I have a reprieve until Monday, as long as I promise to rest and be alert for any scary symptoms, then I have to go back again and they'll probably send me to hospital for blood tests and a fetal trace.

I'm just so relieved to have the weekend and can now open some birthday presents - didn't feel much like celebrating first thing this morning!

Thankyou all so much for being so lovely and thinking of all those who are also having scary moments xx

Weddingcake and Madmumnika - thinking of you both (((((hugs))))) Happy birthday Weddingcake!

Nothing much to report here. Mind is starting to wander at work, Mothercare package of pads (for every orifice!) have arrived.. I think I'm actually going to soon be having a baby.

Take care everyone...

Weddingcake am glad to hear you have a temporary reprieve - make sure you now do nothing and lie on the sofa all weekend - it really does work! I know you are probably panicing that you have heaps still to do but you'd be surprised how little a newborn can manage on as long as it's mummy is there!

Mmnika, am really keeping my fingers crossed for you! Let us know how it goes if at all possible...

LynneC sounds like you're having some braxcton hicks contractions - I think they are fairly common from the third trimester onwards. Nothing to worry about unless they continue on longer than an hour and get closed together.

Kyte I suffer really badly with acid reflux to and really can't stand gaviscon, but have found that a little yoghurt drink (like Activia) really helps to.

Have had a scan and ante-natal check this morning - had a two hour wait - but extremely to be told that baby is 4lbs, which is exactly right for 32 weeks and there are no major concerns (although a trace of protein and glycerides in my urine is being investigated further...). After talking to the consultant think I have decided on elective c-section which will be at 39 weeks, so probably a June baby rather than a July one...

MMNika & Weddingcake and your little ones - hope you will all be ok. I have not had such bad indigestion as I did with my DD (she was born with a massive head of hair!). Perhaps this little chap is completely bald as yet (if you believe that old wives' tale) or perhaps it has something to do with me trying to eat main meal at lunchtime and only a small snacky evening meal or perhaps that particular discomfort has yet to start. I have just heard that I am anaemic so must get iron tablets. No wonder I feel a bit washed out these last couple of days. Glucose tolerance test was normal. I knew it! LOL
Is anyone else low on iron?

Caroline1852 · 11/05/2007 15:20

Abgirl - thanks for doing the stats. Glad your lo is doing so well - 4lbs is great. My consultant does elec c-sections about 10 days early..... so he would deliver your baby on around 26th June..... that is not far away is it?

twoplusone · 11/05/2007 15:28

weddingcake- glad you have alittle reprieve.. Happy Birthday..

Abgirl- great news on the weight..

lynnec · 11/05/2007 15:33

Thanks ladies, regarding the bh, i hadnt heard of these until recently as i didnt have this with first pg.

Kyte, i will try that tonight with the gaviscon as i have had severe heartburn for the last 5 months, just changed to gaviscon this week, but still dont think it works for long periods of time, but i have been drinking loads of water at night which may not have helped.

Hope everyone is keeping well and has a nice weekend. x

jenjingles · 11/05/2007 17:40

hi all i'm due on the 17th july {30+3} and i've only just found this thread!! derrrr! am i too late to join??

bilblio · 11/05/2007 17:47

Happy Birthday weddingcake! You've got a double reason for relaxing and being waited on hand and foot. I hope it has a positive effect on your blood pressure.
MMNika, hope you're relaxing and taking care too. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you both (or all four of you.)

lynnec, being a first timer I'm no expert, but I'm one of those people who reads everything especially as I've never had any pregnant friends to learn from. I've read that BH contractions do tend to start about now, but not everyone gets them the first time around, they're more common in subsequent pregnancies and they're more likely to be painful in subsequent pregnancies too. So hopefully it's just your body practising for the real thing.

I've had a productive day today, I finally got around to trying out a couple of the prams I've been looking at and I've made a decision, I'm getting a Firstwheels City Elite. Tomorrow I'm going to go in and give them a deposit so I get it at the sale price. Blokey can break the news to his Mum about the cost tonight and hopefully she'll still be happy to pay for all of it.

All this talk of maternity bags is making it all seem a bit real now. I haven't started mine but my Mum mentioned it over the weekend and keeps telling me to go and get some nighties/pyjamas for breastfeeding. I'd suppose I'd best go and buy pads and things next week, and it might be an idea to start keeping my maternity notes with me. It seems a bit extreme, but I do long 24 hour shifts at work and if anything happened I wouldn't be sent to my normal hospital so I suppose it's sensible.

Speaking of breastfeeding (sort of). I've been quite relieved that my boobs have stayed the same size so far (not that they were small to begin with.) When do people think it's wise to go and buy some breastfeeding bras? I hate leaving things till the last minute, but if I buy them now am I likely to have a sudden growth spurt at some point and have to get some more?

Justabout, like you I had a GTT test but was meant to be dieting over the Easter weekend. Was with DD in the garden doing an Easter Egg hunt and as she'd had so many eggs to look for, I secret scoffed half of one behind her back, then realised I had my test in two days time. Cue me spitting chocolate in our flowers beds...

Jamantha · 11/05/2007 20:14

What a lot's been going on while I've had a week away. Just had a quick read through but too tired to absorb all the details yet. Wasn't a great week away though - one car breakdown and one accident ate into a lot of holiday time and added to the expense. And I'm sure you can sypathise with my problems of sitting waiting well over an hour for breakdown repair in the heat, unable to get out of car (stuck between to merging motorways so not safe), needing the loo yet still having to keep drinking water because of the heat. Ended up having to take my top off to help stop overheating, and hoping that nobody going past would take offence (and whipping it back on once the breakdown man arrived of course).

Anyway another week closer and hope to catch up with all your news properly soon

madmumNika · 11/05/2007 20:33

Hi everyone, thank you so much for the messages of support- it means a lot. Wellllll after all that the registrar never called me today, in spite of having promised to call me even if everything looked fine! So I have been on tenderhooks all day...but am now convincing myself that no news must be good news?! Tried calling the antenatal clinic, but they couldn't access the results & said as it's in my notes that the doctor will call today then she should- but hasn't! Anyway at least I have another few days at home with my boys And I am trying hard to rest as much as possible (at least now DS is in bed!). Will be glad after next Thursday's detailed scan etc. is done....

Weddingcake- I am glad you are still at home too! Do rest as much as possible, and I hope on monday you get the test results quickly and things are stable...Thinking of you lots ((((( )))))

Justaboutmanaging- glad your scan showed everything is fine & no signs of IUGR

Abgirl- congrats on your LO's weight- that is fab news Hope the protein trace etc. doesn't amount to anything... Keep resting as much as your DS will allow!!

Right, off to put my feet up & eat pizza! was really healthy all day & then got such a craving for pizza...ah well it could be worse!!

Hugs to all you lovely ladies & your bumps xx

typhoonsmum · 11/05/2007 20:34

I'm convinced men get PMT. What a moody git. Anyway. Will post a photo of 3D scan. (Which I do recommend. The pictures look like photos of the baby not scan images. But I wouldn't pay for a big pack. Just the basic one that gives you a photo)
TWOPLUSONE
Will try to post the photo but if I can't do it can you do it again for me.
Have a strange heavy feeling in pelvis. Think it is trapped wind personally but it is hard to walk. I look like the crooked man.
Bump has arrived out of nowhere. Only 10 ish more weeks to do now.

typhoonsmum · 11/05/2007 20:54

haven't a clue where to start with it. HELP PLEASE!

swift1 · 11/05/2007 21:10

Hi everyone,

havent posted for yonks, hope everyones ok.

We have 7 weeks to go tmrw, and I have along list of complaints........

Rib ache, leg cramps, wind, cant sit up at the computer for long, cant drive for very long, have weeks where I cry all the time, massive, sweaty, lots of c.m. I have 3 weeks keft at work and I cant wait.

On the other hand I am sooooooooo excited about this baby. Its so active all the time and I could actually make out either a hand or foot yesterday, something I cvouldmt do with dd1.

Am planning to go camping for a week at 36 weeks, am I mad? Just feel like my q.t is runnning out with dd1 before no.2 comes along - does anyone know what I mean?

lynnec · 11/05/2007 21:21

Ladies, just doing my check list for the hospital bag...are maternity pads better than sanitry towels???? Whats the difference??? Got the
face, hand bath towels in.
soap, toothpaste, brush etc
jammies, nighties and large t shirts
breast pads
anyone any other suggestions??????

typhoonsmum · 11/05/2007 21:29

In my experience maternity pads are just thick sanitary towels. Like the DR Whites you can get in the chemist for a pound! WE have loads on the ward. That is all they are.

JennsterSlugSlayer · 11/05/2007 21:35

Camping Swift? Are you mad?

Had a great day at work yesterday farting, pooing (sorry tmi), and coping with the multiple braxton hicks. They weren't all that painful, but think all the gas had something to do with it. All I wanted to do was sit down, but we were so busy that was impossible. Yay it's Friday, I've 12 days left to work (over the next 5 weeks) and my garden has 2 less slugs in it.

Bilbio, it's not recommended to be measured for a nursing bra until 38+ weeks. Even then mine was wrong as was 36C all through pregnancy, measured 38C at the very end so told to go for 36D in advance, but actually turned out to be 34DD...And I'm still wearing those bras....Don't buy Mothercare ones though, they are nowhere near supportive enough (though their sleep bras are great to keep breastpads in place and don't need to support you at night) and the puny elastic suspender bit stretches within days. M&S were my favourites, but noticed they have changed the design recently couldn't comment on them now.

lynnec · 12/05/2007 13:47

Swift we had camping planned for last weekend but i couldnt do it, i cant sleep in my own bed never mind an air bed, back is too sore now so we've had to give it a miss for now, if your backs ok and you feel up to it go for it, just take it easy!

Myfairone · 12/05/2007 14:40

Weddingcake and Madmumnika - you poor things! I really hope neither of you have to be admitted. I guess at least if you are in hospital the LO is being monitored and you have less worry. Try to stay positive. My thoughts are with you and I hope you both feel okay! Let us know how you are feeling.

Who was it that said about men getting PMS? Well I agree! Mine went out for a few beers last night and has woken up like a bear with a sore head! He's gone back to bed! Bless

Saw a neighbour today whose first words were 'oh look how fat you are'! Insensitive cow! Why do people do that? Of course afterwards she went on to say how tiny I am and how upfront my tummy is! Yeah whatever!

Lots of hugs to all and their bumps....not long to go now girls!

agnesnitt · 12/05/2007 17:25

Myfairone, I like to shock people by telling them I'm pregnant... I'm a big lass, and people assume it's all fat until I complain of my hips hurting and the uterine occupant being an active sod. They then have to pedal and say how fabulous I'm looking and so on. We can get them all ways
