Morning all (3.30am! hey ho!)

Seems that everyone is having a bathroom blitz but me! Just had mine completely redone but dont have the energy to clean it! The shower is crying out for a wipe! Anyone?

Well my midwife appointment was a success (albeit painful). Pain in my tum is most probably a pulled ab muscle, plus baby is breech. It has its head nestled under my rib cage! She tried to manipulate the baby (OH MY GOD! basically tried to touch my spine through my tummy!) all the time shes saying 'i wish i had a trainee here'!

Anyway after prodding and poking and pushing she announced that the baby was most probably a boy because it is sooooo laid back (she doesnt even know my DH!!!!) and that it was obviously comfy and also a little lazy! Listened to the heartbeat and it was loud and clear and nice and relaxed!

So all in all, if LO is happy, I am happy! (but a little painful!)

DH built the nursery furniture and I have spent every waking minute since just staring around the room! Brought tears to my pregnant eyes to think of a room awaiting the new life inside me!

Hope all are well and not feeling too exhausted after cleaning your bathrooms!

saf1 · 08/05/2007 13:10

Hi all,

Just caught up on all the posts but i'll be buggered if I can remember who said what??!!

Welll DD2 had a terrible dose of chicken pox and was screaming constantly for 4 hours, after 3 I joined in as I was so knackered she'd been awake since 4am but she's all better now and we're all enjoying the dust and dirt of the builders being in.
Have had to move DD2 into DD1's bedroom and they have both surprised me by sleeping REALLY well so much for getting an extra bedroom ??!! [hmm) Builders are just about to knock DD2's bedroom wall down to extend it take off bathroom and kitchen ceilings?? and we've all got to live with no ceilings please pray that the rain and wind die down cos it's bloody freezing in our house
Had my anti-D injection last week god it bloody hurts!!?? I'd rather give birth than have that needle pushed deep into my thigh Anyway all's going well and i'm on leave next week for 2 weeks then back in work for 6 days before Istart my m/l hurrah
lol and hugs to you all
saf

saf1 · 08/05/2007 13:16

MyFairOne; Have you tried Lavender oil on your pillow?
It's the only thing that I have found that works for me after my 2o'clock visit to the loo.
Good luck.

JennsterSlugSlayer · 08/05/2007 14:20

Had the Anti D after dd born in my bum, that didn't hurt, then this time had it in my arm and it REALLY hurt.

Myfairone · 08/05/2007 16:37

Saf1 - thanks for the tip, someone actually bought me a lavender pillow but sadly didnt have the desired effect. I found the lavender smell way too overwhelming! Worth a try though

Hope everyone is well...

Cakehead · 08/05/2007 19:36

Hi everyone, god you all sound like you're so busy doing things. I'm giving up work next week and haven't done a single thing in preparation yet, and if this one comes a few weeks early like DD did, I've only left myself a few weeks. We've no clothes (well, they're all in the loft and DH won't let me go up and get them so I've got to wait for him to do it), no room sorted out, no double buggy, nothing. I can't believe it. I was like a military general last time organising everything... Saw the m/w today and my bump is still breech, but she says there's plenty of time for it to turn. Hope everyone else is doing ok.

typhoonsmum · 08/05/2007 20:02

had 3d scan today. fantastic pictures of the babies face. i think he looks like DD. I'll post if anyone is interested.

huskygirl · 08/05/2007 20:30

same here cakehead. i have NOTHING organised. and so much going on too. Glad your 3D scan went well typhoonsmum would love to see pics.

We went to see our council house that we've fought to get today oh my god!! the inside is trashed. i'm not bothered about decorating etc as it is all part of it and makes it your own at the end of the day BUT every door frame is broken, one of the rooms is full of mould, there is not a trace of carpet in any room and 3 of the doors are hanging off!! thats as well as redecorating every single room as the previous tennants trashed it. And we are away on holiday next week and then will have 9 weeks max before the baby arrives to make it liveable!!!!! i know we'll do it but what a nightmare!!

And my DD1 ran away from me in Tesco today despite my shouts for her to come back and hold mummy's hand she pegged it! I could not run after her, beleive me the hurried waddle/shuffle was not a nice sight! when i caught up with her i proceeded to sit her down for time out in the middle of the store she was very sorry but i was not amused. (especially with MIL laughing in view od DD1 for which i lost it with her too)panic re current portugal situations are what scared me i think.

So all in all poo day!!! hope everyone else had had better ones. sorry to hear of painful Anti-D's

lynnec · 08/05/2007 22:58

Hi ladies, hope you are all well.

myfairone, im the same with the sleepless nights, infact i was still awake this morning when you where on posting, wish i had signed in to say hello...didnt get to sleep until 5.45 then at 5.50 the cat was scratching at the bedroom door wanting out
saf1, hope your daughter is much better now, hope all is going well with the builders, i still have that to look forward to when we convert our loft into a double bedroom.
typoonsmum, that would be brilliant to see your scan.
huskygirl, goodluck with the new house, you'll get there in the end and at your mil!!!!

Hope everyones having a nice week so far, im still going mad with my craving for the smell of concrete and underground i got so frustrated at the tiler and dh because they threw all the bags of old concrete out i thought i was going to cry
I have managed to find a similar smell in my celler, so im constantly in there

madmumNika · 09/05/2007 07:34

Good morning all,

LynneC & Myfairone- hope you start getting a little more sleep soon... have to say usually by the time I get to bed I am so exhausted not a lot can keep me awake...plus have started to get quite a bit of back pain which is a great excuse for getting DP to give me a back massage which really helps before I go to sleep! The physio I see had an aromatherapist make up a massage oil that is safe for use in pregnancy & helps reduce inflammation which is lovely!

Saf1- hope the building work goes as quickly and painlessly as possible, and your DD is fully recovered...

Huskygirl- sorry to hear about the state of your new house, it always amazes me how some people treat their homes Sending lots of super-fast & easy decorating vibes over to you! It WILL be ok!

Has anyone heard from Abgirl at all? Just realised she hasn't posted for a while...hope all is ok Abgirl? xx

All going well with me, had lowest BP reading ever yesterday so very chuffed! (110/70) Will be glad to get over the next week as get past DS's gestation. Have another consultant appt tomorrow but all seems fine! Starting to want to eat A LOT (just munched some of last nights remaining pasta...& now making porridge for DS & me!!). Trying to swim twice a week too as finding it really helps with the backache etc. and as my LO is either breech or transverse I had read swimming (on your front) can help them turn.... Still early days so not too worried yet!

Hugs to you all xxx

agnesnitt · 09/05/2007 10:34

I was up till two thirty last night, and got about two hours sleep.

I am the walking dead, beware the pregnant zombie

Agnes

Trimum2 · 09/05/2007 12:12

Cakehead. I am in same boat. Nothing organised. No car seat (can't use one from the last time - damaged) or buggy. No clothes taken out /prepared. No moses basket (DS1 one is still in the cot). Still have to move house at some point (and arrange decoration / work in the house beforehand). Plus am drowning in work - can can't imagine how I am going to finish in two weeks time. I get waves of panic. In week 33 already.....

Chooster · 09/05/2007 13:10

Sorry to hear those who have trouble sleeping. Given whats to come, you'd hope our bodies would be designed to get in LOADS of sleep in preperation! If only eh?

Hopefully Abgirl is taking it easy now she's not working and is not able to get to the PC as much.

at your MIL huskygirl! Why on earth didn't she try to help instead of laughing. I so know what you mean - if ever DS goes out of my sight for a second in public my stomach lurches.

Things are going well for me - work is busy but I kind of feel I'm approching the countdown. Only 5 weeks to go I think and I'e got a couple of days holiday in there as well. DH and I are slowly getting organised and we are changing roooms round in our house at the moment so everything is a bit of a mess.

Typhoonsmum - would you say that a 3D is worth going for?

Myfairone · 09/05/2007 14:07

Afternoon all!

Well, I had a huge lose it session last night! Was back to work after a week off sick and just felt so exhausted and overwhelmed with the prospect of 6 more weeks at work!
Poor DH didnt know what to say or do and handled me very well

Feel more positive today and know that I just have to get on with it and very soon I will be sitting at home awaiting the arrival. Find myself really panicking over stuff lately! Damn hormones.

Sorry to hear that your house is trashed Huskygirl...hopefully it won't take you too long to sort it out.

Typhoonsmum - Pictures, pictures, pictures!!!!!

LynneC, you should have logged on and said HI! The sleepless nights are driving me crazy.

Hope you are all having a great afternoon,

Big hugs

Caroline1852 · 09/05/2007 15:51

Hi all. Sorry to hear about sleepless nights. I have found rubbing Boots orange blossom massage oil into my substantial body (lol) after my evening shower means that I am sleeping really well. I wake up in the early hours for a wee but straight back to sleep (after washing my hands, I rub tiny amount of same massage oil into my wrists). Smell is really lovely. I have not checked it is safe in pregnancy however - did not know you needed to! I use about a quarter of a bottle of it every night (costs £4 a bottle) and am trying to work out if that makes it an expensive indulgence. I don't really care since I don't go out any more (too tired) and have no sense of humour and can't even have a glass of wine. If I did not have my orange blossom massage oil I might turn into an axe murderer!

Myfairone · 09/05/2007 16:33

Caroline - Thats the first time I have laughed all day!

Isn't it sad that an oil can bring so much pleasure (and you haven't even got the pleasure of someone else rubbing it in!)

I bought myself some foot creams today and am stupidly excited to go home and give my feet some attention!

Have a great evening all!

Stigaloid · 09/05/2007 16:40

Hello all

not been on for a while and probably in need of a serious reading session to catch up on everything but can relate to all the serious losing it sessions that have been going on. Lack of sleep and hormones are not making a good mix for me!

Was suffering from really bad night cramps in my legs up until recently and have discovered the cure - flight socks! They seems to keep the circulation going and just as my leg feels a bit crampy it seems to sort itself out - not sure if anyone else is suffering cramps, but this seems to help me

Not got anything sorted either - nursery still needs to be decorated and carpeted, let alone furniture to buy (eeek!) Was told to not bother buygin clothes etc as 'everyone will give you loads' and not had a single thing! Getting a little nervous and thinking i should probably get a few bits and pieces just in case!

Have just moved 3 weeks ago and registered with new GP. Have also decided to go down the route of Home Birth so looking into getting a birthing pool and find the best place in the house to put it without breaking all the floor boards!

Hope all is well with everyone. Not long to go! (8 weeks for me - yikes - must get organised!)

When's everyone off on Maternity Leave? I finish mid-june. Can't wait!

Stigaloid. Can't recommend a home birth enough. Also you DO need the cheapest basics, as friends and relatives like to splash out on flashy stuff. Sleeveless vests and sleepsuits are fine for the first couple of weeks. Think of how many you might need and probably double it. Other than that wait and see!

bilblio · 09/05/2007 21:01

I think it's strange/a relief that we all seem to be going through the same things.

Last night I actually managed to get 8 hours sleep, they were broken into about 5 sections, but it makes a change from the 4-6 hours a night I've been surviving on for the past week.
You'd think seeing as I've spent 5 days building wardrobes and decorating that I'd be knackered and sleeping well, but my over active brain, indigestion and LO isn't allowing decent sleep.
One more day of painting and we might be able to start putting the room back together, then we can think about the nursery. We've got most of the stuff, it's just in different parts of the country.

Myfairone - I find the smell of lavendar oil a bit strong too so I mix it in a spray bottle, 10 mls water each 1 drop of lavender oil. I spray it all over my bedroom like an air freshener so it's relaxing every time I go in there.
I should take my own advice, my spray bottle has run out if I refill it I might get some sleep.

Stigaloid - I wasn't going to buy any clothes either because people keep saying I'll get loads. I realized though that people might not buy me anything till after the baby is born so I bought a couple of Mothercare's 10-piece starter sets which will last for a few days. It means I can relax knowing the baby won't have to come home nude, and I don't have to fret too much about doing washing straight away.

Good look with the house HuskyGirl. You aren't moving in behind me are you? The council spent 3 days last week clearing rubbish out of the back garden after the last tenants moved out, I dread to think what the house is like. Thankfully the new tenant is planning on keeping the garden tidy for her kids to play in so I'll have a decent view eventually.

I'm back in work tomorrow on a 24 hour shift after a lovely 10 day break. I love my job but I really don't want to go back. 5.5 weeks till maternity leave starts.

abgirl · 09/05/2007 21:49

Hi all and apologies for missing the stats last Friday, am rather as I was actually at the zoo for the day and didn't get online. Since then just haven't had time to get online - looking after 2yo DS is hard work atm, lots of tantrums, running off and waking up at night! Our new tactic is to keep him really busy all day and then he might sleep better but we're kind of living in hope!

Other than extreme tiredness the pregnancy seems to be going well, BP is pretty constant at 120/70ish but had to miss midwife appointment last week for the zoo visit - saw the practice nurse instead the day before but not as reassuring as seeing the midwife. Have the full shebang this Friday at the hospital, growth scan and ante-natal appointment with consultant, so hopefully everything will be fine there.

Glad to hear everything's going well for everyone else and will do my best with the stats this Friday!!

twoplusone · 10/05/2007 08:55

Typhoonsmum- Glad the 3d scan went well

HUskygirl- Sorry to hear your house is trashed, arent the council obliged to fix the door frames etc and make the house livable for tenants!!!

Well the next saga for me!!! DS finally stopped vand d on sunday.. so had 5 days of it bless him, DD is better now, DH didnt go to the UK for the Rugby as he was too worried about DS.
Yesterday taking ds to creche, as I was walking round the car to get him out, my ankle went from under me as there was a hole in the road but all the leaves and pollen had covered it up!!.. took him into creche (in oain) drove my self to the med centre... were I actually cried when booking when asking to see someone!! (very unlike me) but it hurt so much.. rested all yesterday as luckily it was only a bad sprain.
I ham walking on it now.. aslong as I dont move suddenly I am fine as far as the ankle is concerned.. but.. my hips oh my god... think I must have jarred them as they have been fime for the last week.. but now!!... I am at the midwives today so will mention it..

We are going on our hospital visit on the 21st this month to check the labour rooms etc..

Going to start getting things for my hospital bag and big knickers, pads breast pads,a cheap nighty for delivery etc. Once ds has had his birthday next month we will then start getting all the baby clothes washed and put away and the bedrooms sorted..

twoplusone · 10/05/2007 08:56

abgirl- ment to add glad you had a nice day at the zoo...

agnesnitt · 10/05/2007 11:17

All I have so far for this baby is a car seat, a moses basket and a bath. I've been promised a cot so that's good. My old pram is a bit buggered for a newborn as it's done four years of babies and is in need off tlc in the bearings area. I'm going to retire it, I think it has done well bless it.

My plan is to just go to asda and buy two packs of vests and babygros in the first three sizes and knit a few cardigans and hats to go with them. Should see me through for the first few weeks.

Labour bag! Hadn't even thought about that >_< Hell, I put too much in last time. Any second+ timers planning on cutting back to bare basics?

Hope everyone is feeling well. I'm away off to ring a government agency to play merry hell with them. I've got no cash, and they haven;t sent me any info in a week. If it goes on much longer I'll be back to no food in the house and ++++ ketones >_<

Onwards!

Agnes

Caroline1852 · 10/05/2007 13:07

Myfairone, hope the foot treatments were a treat. It is at about 33 weeks that your feet begin to no longer look like your feet. Perhaps nature's way of making it not really feel like a big problem that you can no longer reach them to pretty them up (who wants to deal with someone else's feet?). I feel all tearful and over emotional the last couple of days. My DD (18 months) walked for the first time a couple of days ago. About six steps and since then nothing, back to crawling and walking on her knees. I am still relying on not needing a double buggy; delusional. She is also still in her cot and loves it, makes no attempt ever to get out of it. I half thought we might move her out to a bed but the nearer it gets the more ludicrous all this seems. I think I shall start investigating a double pushchair and another cot (perhaps a cot bed?) and stop being so silly.
Have not even thought about clothes for baby or hospital bag.
