Can't believe we need more space... again...

Caroline1852 · 03/05/2007 15:17

It is not so much the taste of the lucozade but the effect of all that sugar on lo. Last time I felt completely ill and lo jumped around in a sort ADHD frenzy for hours afterwards. I remember thinking this can't be good for her.

Caroline1852 · 03/05/2007 15:18

Plus 3 hours or more at hospital with 18 month old

typhoonsmum · 03/05/2007 17:24

That day at work was hell. Roll on Maternity Leave.

agnesnitt · 03/05/2007 18:43

I think I am ready to go to sleep for a week now:/

Had an utter day from hell. Woke up at absurd o clock to walk to the city centre for an appointment, came home, took spawn for lunch, dropped her at nursery, hurtled to community centre for course, hurtled home, trogged out to polling station to vote, trogged home then cooked spawn dinner. I'm about to go initiate the bedtime routine with the child, after which I have an online meeting to be present for (while I watch the Panorama programme on the beeb at eight) and after all that I get to go do two days worth of dishes and tidy the living room ready for a guest tomorrow.

Aaaaaaarrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhh!

Can I get off now please?

Agnes

Myfairone · 03/05/2007 18:46

Hi guys,

Well another day for me at home (I could really get used to this), but was very silly and got up off the sofa. The pain in my tummy is back and now I'm worried that something may be wrong again. I sat all day yesterday and LO was bouncing around and I slept for 6 whole hours last night (LO probably wore itself out during the day!)

I have a midwife appointment tomorrow and I'm just hoping she can put my mind at rest about this pain.

Hope you are all well and enjoying the sunshine.

huskygirl · 03/05/2007 19:29

hi all, had hospital appointment today. Consultant did a scan too showing that the placenta has moved up thank god! Also bp is lowest its ever been 112/68 and urine clear . so no sign of nasty PE so far touch wood. Also had my glucose tolerance test yesterday that has showed up fine today . just so pleased i had to share my happy bits of news. i dont know if anyone else is like me but i'm just expecting things to go wrong because of last time and when things are ok i feel sooo lucky. Right i'm going to try and get through all these posts now and catch up on everyones news. take care ladies x

Jamantha · 03/05/2007 19:59

Three cheers husky girl. I also had good news - MW appointment showed BP good, nil in urine, and blood results back showing normal blood glucose. So not diabetic, no PE, all going well. Plus she thinks LO is turning head down. Hoorah. Means I can go on hol, tomorrow all relaxed and happy.

Sorry things not going so well for you myfairone. Hope goes well tomorrow.

Chooster · 03/05/2007 21:32

Twoplusone - I hope all the illnesses in your house pass soon, but thats great news about DS's speech. Hopefully by getting his ears sorted he'll continue to improve!

We thought about a cleaner when I went back to work, but decided against it, but I reckon we definately will get one when I go back this time. I just can't be bothered and although DH is really good there are days when he can't be bothered either.

Its really good to read about people having good mid-wives appts. I hope yours goes well too myfairone. Hope you get the re-assurance you need. I had mine today and all is well. I'm going to be on IV anti-biotics cos of Group B strep but it shouldn't have any impact. There was a yummy male student in as well today . Just a shame DH chose today to come along... and am pregnant... and married.

bilblio · 03/05/2007 22:37

Glad to hear your placenta has shifted huskyone, gives me more hope mine will too. I wish I didn't have to wait another 7 weeks before I find out though.

Take it easy Myfairone, I hope the midwife is able to put your mind at rest tomorrow.

I'm exhausted today after blokey and I both had a rotten nights sleep. I woke at 4am, after 2 hours of trying to get to sleep I went downstairs to potter. I managed to doze for a bit later in the morning, then my parents came and we carried on with the wardrobe building.

This evening I decided I'd have a nice relaxing bath and climb straight into bed. But the relaxing bath ended up with me sat in the bath sideways using the pumice stone to get the grout off the tiles (a job I've been meaning to do for about 2 years).
I'm either going nuts, or the nesting instinct is kicking in.

agnesnitt · 03/05/2007 22:47

Nesting biblio, it has to be. My bathroom offended me so much a fortnight ago that I took to it and used an entire bottle of bleach in my quest to have it smelling nice

Agnes

bilblio · 04/05/2007 00:51

Phew! I did keep telling blokey I wasn't going nuts, but he didn't believe me.
I'll have to buy a new pumice stone tomorrow so I can do the other wall when I have my next relaxing bath.

Scrubbing the walls was very therapeutic, but obviously not relaxing enough as the early night failed. Oh well.

Myfairone · 04/05/2007 02:30

Excellent news huskygirl..glad that all is well for you and little one.

Im laughing out loud at your relaxing bath bilblio!

Well, I am awake at only 2.30 and after tossing and turning for an hour have decided to get up and have a mooch around mumsnet. I'm off work tomorrow so not too worried but trying very hard to resist the temptation to start on my pile of ironing!

Ordered some things I need yesterday and got really excited at the prospect of getting 'stuff' for the LO.
Also bought some newborn nappies (they were on sale and just had an overwhelming urge to buy them) and cannot believe I spent a whole 10 minutes marvelling at how small they are!

Hope you all feel well and glad to hear that the Midwife appts are going well.

Take care all and nite nite.

miaou · 04/05/2007 08:37

My midwife appointment was not a great success. The surgery was closed and she was 10 minutes late, so myself and another very pregnant neighbour were stood outside in the heat waiting for her ... not a good start! And she had booked us both for the same time, which, given that my neighbour is having a complicated pregnancy, seems a little silly . And the GP didn't turn up as requested either (she apologised to me later that day when I met her in the shop).

I asked which way up the baby was and she said "I don't know" , fiddled around a bit and then said "I think its head down", stressed about how little weight I had put on (less than a stone altogether, but hey, it's not like I've put on nothing!), kept going on about the slight trace of glucose in my urine, despite me having said all through pregnancy that I always have traces of glucose and the consultant is quite OK with that as some people just do!!

I refused to let her do my bloods because last time she made such a mess of my arms I was bruised from wrist to shoulder (well not quite, but extensive bruising) and I am driving a lot this weekend (we are going away for the w/e). That was the point of the GP being there, so that she could do the bloods . I am going back in to the surgery some time next week to get them done.

Grrrr........

miaou · 04/05/2007 08:40

Oh, and my bp was "too low" (90/48) - ie, just what it normally is

Biblio - lol at the tiles! I am resisting the urge!!

Groveregg · 04/05/2007 09:31

It seems like everyone must be blitzing bathrooms! Builder still not finished in mine after 4 weeks, so there is always plenty in there to distract me from relaxing. The other day I found myself ignoring ds having his bath and instead grabbing a tube of polyfiller and spending half an hour slathering it round the various holes and dents in the walls where I thought the builder hadn't done it properly.

Sympathising with everyone else as I'm thoroughly shattered this week, after the effects of builders, a trip to hospital with ds suffering from suspected asthma attack, dh with a night cough that is finally subsiding after 4 weeks and all the other things that I normally do. Feel terrible all round but amazingly my midwife appointment went really well and all is fine.

myfairone - hope pain settles down and all goes well at mw appt.
Went for glucose tolerance test in the end.... grrr, decided that they must know best but it was touch and go! Took 3 hours in all - plus 45 mins to get there, 45 mins to get back and £4 in parking. 18 month old beside herself with boredom, me trying to eek out the remaining raisins. Test was horrible, not even lucozade but a clear glucose syrup - ewwwww. Anyway, is done now and had fbc bloods done, so at least killed two birds with one stone. I was ten minutes late for my appt (a road was closed and I had to take a diversion which was completely jammed). When MW complained I was late, I told her in no uncertain terms that after the number of times they had kept me waiting for hours (literally) I am sure they could excuse me 10 minutes with a very soung excuse. She looked quite shocked that I dared answer her back, I have probably been marked down on my file now as a tricky customer - my friend said that when I get to hosp to have my baby they will tell me that they have run out of epidurals just to get their own back.... very worried now.
Miaou - how come you get glucose in your urine and no test and I get no glucose but get the test. Lucky you having a nice neat weight gain - they should be applauding you.

I saw a gem of a midwife and a trainee today (even if I was a naughty pregnant woman with plus four ketones and contrary veins). Shame it was at nine fifteen though, I am shattered!

I've even got food in the house now, things are looking up chez Agnes.

Hope everyone is okay and looking forward tot he weekend. I have an appointment with Ugly Betty tonight, then it's the land of nod for me.

Agnes

JennsterSlugSlayer · 04/05/2007 22:59

Crap week. GTT and Anti-D Wed, would have cost me £3 carpark fees had I not had to park 1.5 miles away in the end for second appt, so only £1.50 in end. GP appt at surgery too. Friday was kept waiting 45 mins for midwife as first appt over-ran, mine then over-ran coz +hb in first urine sample (not sterile) so provided another which was ++hb in urine and concerned with leaking and nasty cough so saw GP again. Was then REALLY late for work coz town was gridlocked as motorway had been closed with a jumper on a bridge, then backlog at work because it's bankholiday........

Moan over, all off my chest. Bathrooms both finished in 10 days.

Have a good weekend everybody.

Groveregg · 05/05/2007 10:25

Jenn that does sound a hard week but no need to gloat over your bathrooms!!! Our builder is coming round in a while today to take away all his tools after 4 weeks (great, we can clear up a bit) but then again a bit worrying because I still have about 10 things on my list of things I think he ought to have done...

Forgot to mention this week I met a friend who's just had her second baby. Her dd is 20 months old and has been going ape whenever my friend has to feed the baby (which has been taking on average 45 mins per feed) - big tantrums and the other day she ran into the patio doors as a protest. All a bit worrying as my ds (same age) is starting to get seriously stroppy and whiny at the moment. Is anyone else finding themselves going into denial about the forthcoming lo?! I am trying to tell myself it is just pies in there...

huskygirl · 05/05/2007 15:31

trying to catch up on posts, seems as though we'll all be glad that the weekend is here now!! i spent all yesterday morning being sick then proceeded to sleep the whole day till 4.30pm. DH amused dd1 all day bless him even though he had to go to work in the evening from 8pm till 5am this morning, he must have been shattered. however for some delightful reason dd1 didnt wake up this morning until 11am!!!! i hope that everyone has a relaxing weekend and we get some sunshine

lynnec · 06/05/2007 12:29

Ladies, hope you are all having a nice weekend, ive not had the chance to catch up due to new bathroom ging in, its been a total nightmare.....shower we boughtcame with a power pack (which we didnt know about) it was unsuitble for our bathroom as we didnt have anywhere to hide the bloody power pack....we were given the wrong sink size for the vanity unit....the wrong taps...the list goes on, we just bought another house to rent out, we were told to take along a £3,000 deposit, when we got there it was actually £13,000 deposit
So im glad we are going in to a new week, it cant get any worse surely???????

On the pg front i so want to smell concrete or the underground
Ive not had any cravings for food, just smells
Hope you are all keeping well! x

berrysmum · 06/05/2007 20:24

Lynnec - I hope next week is better for you. As for your craving....!!! Well, if you're going to have one it may as well be a weird one. Why bother with gherkins when you can have the underground. I only crave chocolate, but that probably doesn't count as I have that one 365 days a year !

typhoonsmum · 06/05/2007 20:27

DD just thrown another almighty paddy in front of MIL. Fortunately DP was about to stop MIL going into "give her her own way" mode.
We are all meant to be going to Holyhead in three weeks to see MIL's family. I'm dreading spending a week in a flat with MIL anyway (Very nice woman but very mothering. At times it's like living back home)
What am I meant to do with DD. I try to show DD that she doesn't always get her own way but DP and MIL operate the "anything for an easy life" attitude.
