so apparently i am now consultant led! always been told that i was midwife led.. until i received an appointment in the post yesterday!

anyone else consultant led?

@Victoriaaaaaaaa I am! I was initially Told midwife led but told it may change and when I got my 12 week pack that said consultant! Means I get to see baby more between now and EDD though so I don't mind as already knew I would class as high risk

@SJ1989 that's not too bad then - i just don't know what to expect at the appointments!

@Victoriaaaaaaaa I'm consultant led! It's ok- longer waiting times but I generally see a midwife at each appointment then the consultant comes in. I've been told to expect more scans and closer monitoring towards the end, and they won't let me go past 39weeks, but that is due to the fact I'm on blood thinners and not a feature of being consultant led.

@Victoriaaaaaaaa my appointment was fine, saw the midwife who did no and listened to baby then the consultant came in to speak about why I'm consultant led, risks and talk about any plans needed to be put in place then just checked I was happy and if we had any questions, I was the same as you

I'm consultant led due to previous Caesarean section and other complications. Saw consultant at 12weeks and next appt 32weeks to discuss mode of birth and plan etc which I know already due to being a midwife.
All other appts with midwife 👍

I'm also medical consultant led as well due to several factors including my age (geriatric 41 😂).

Similar to others really means I get monitored more closely from 28 weeks. More scans and more appointments at the hospital rather than with the Midwife at my GPs and have already talked about an induction at 39 weeks which is NYE.

Doesn't seem to be a big problem and feel like I'm being well cared for so its all good with me.

Morning ladies! I'm 21 weeks and really feeling it in my lower back and side today. I can't get comfortable on my chair at work at all. Anyone else feeling aches and pains already? I had some crazy complications in my first pregnancy (burst appendix yiiiikes) so I'm always a bit paranoid that there's something more sinister going on - I think after being told I was experiencing normal ligament pain when actually one of my internal organs had exploded makes it hard to trust what I'm feeling is normal! At least I know it can't be my appendix this time... Anyway hopefully I'm not alone in feeling a bit creaky at this stage, think I'm going to try and do some stretches and gentle exercises this evening to try to ease it a bit.

Victoriaaaa I'm consultant led too due to previous pre eclampsia leading to emcs at 35 weeks and really haven't noticed much difference to last time. Had a consultant appointment at 14 weeks(ish) and they explained the risks and delivery options, but now they are happy not to see me again (apart from phone consultation to confirm delivery choice in Nov) until 38 weeks. Obviously unless pre e starts again!

Depending on why you are consultant led you may not have many more appointments or anything.

I have a very bizarre craving for Easter Eggs... normal chocolate won't do. Got to be an eater egg! Do you think I'll have any luck in September finding one? 😖

@asafemooring a burst appendix during pregnancy? Woah! How far along we're you? I guess you had to have an emcs?

@asafemooring I'm 21 weeks tomorrow and can definitely sympathize with the pain! I've been having horrendous lower back pain for the past week! I ended up having to go straight to bed when i got home from work just to lie down!

@Waitingonasmile I'm consultant led because 5 years ago aged 19 i was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis so not too sure what they'll be recommending for me lol. RA has gone into remission since being pregnant and currently on no medication.

@millsbynight It was pretty wild! I was 30 weeks when they finally diagnosed it but they think it had burst some time before because by the time they operated the appendix had been "obliterated" i.e. it was just a big mess in there, I was septic, it was not good. Amazingly, they did the surgery to remove all the gunk and the baby just stayed in there, totally chilled! Unfortunately I developed a secondary infection a couple of weeks later, and that was the straw that broke the camel's back and triggered early labour, so my DD was born (healthy and well) at 33+4 - but no cs, just came out the traditional exit ;)

It's really rare though, don't want to freak anybody else out!

@victoria it's rubbish, isn't it? I tried to persuade my three-year-old that lying in bed reading stories was a really fun activity but she wasn't totally buying it...

Had our anomaly scan today and all is well  remaining firmly on team yellow (DH is adamant he wants a surprise) so won't be finding out gender until the big day in January!  Finally felt confident enough to buy something for baby today, it's incredibly hard to find nice gender neutral baby clothes  also realised I have no idea what we need!

@asafemooring I feel a lot of discomfort if I sit too long at my desk without moving around, can't imagine what it'll be like in a few months! Hope you're coping ok though.

Well what a day I've had! In short, baby is fine. Relief doesn't cover it!!! I've been up since 3am as I couldn't sleep and convinced myself baby's heartbeat had stopped.
We spent 45 minutes with a cardiologist who thoroughly examined baby's heart. He was looking for signs of a condition where the blood flow struggles to return to the heart but didn't find anything that worried him. He left us saying the heart was completely normal and nothing to worry about.
We have had it confirmed that baby's stomach is on the wrong side (ie should be on the left under the heart but is on the right). Again this is normally accompanied by other organ trouble, but in our case none.
I have to go back a week on Friday for another scan and to see a genetics specialist to check there's nothing else underlying or syndrome issue but my downs syndrome risk was very low so I'm not too concerned.
They confirmed baby needs no treatment, I can still have a natural birth etc. I am SO relived. Baby is going to be okay

Sorry for the super long post above but I'm just in shock that the outcome was "nothing changes"!? No one prepared us for that. I thought best case scenario was an otherwise healthy baby with a manageable stomach condition. Worse case scenario for me was baby couldn't survive. I'm still shocked.

We had our anomaly scan today too
All looks great, baby was waving and turning in all the right directions
They said it's in the 85th percentile and on course to being approx 8pounds 7onces when born.

@Owl1011 we are staying team yellow too
And it's really hard to find gender neutral clothes!

Oh @Rosehyd2 I am actually crying with relief for you! I'm so so happy everything's okay. I did the thing your midwife said not to do and had a Google and I did find lots of positive stories but even the most positives ones involved the baby needing an operation post-birth so to find out everything is all fine is just absolutely wonderful! I'm so, SO pleased.
