hi all, sorry I've been away so long (probably all forgotten me!) I've been struggling with anxiety and found it easier to steer clear of the internet so I don't start googling horror stories. been reading everyone's updates on the last few pages, I've got really bad pain almost feels like bruising on my ribs too. also very breathless and sciatica all day everyday :-( anyone ready for baby to be born now? I'm definitely ready for maternity leave!! :-)

Bubbasmama2017 · 11/09/2017 20:46

when is everyone going on maternity leave?

lydiangel83 · 11/09/2017 21:25

@NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown I feel the same, did some rolling on foam roller and really pulled stomach muscles, now worried I will get that diastesis recti broken abdominal muscles. Also got stitch like pain that is sharp but disappears quickly I am assuming growing pin.

I'm back from a week in Italy and put on 3kg, pretty sure that's not baby lol.

Welcome @redfragglebiker I think terrified / excited is completely normal :-)

Happy birthday for tomorrow @theotherendofthesockportal :-)

redfragglebiker · 11/09/2017 21:27

@Bubbasmama2017 I get the occasional breathlessness etc. Not going on maternity leave until beginning November

Zampa · 11/09/2017 21:30

Welcome new joiners!

Fraggle We're due date twins although I know that as I'm having a planned section, I'll be a few days early.

Happy birthday for tomorrow, sock. Cake

Love the shoes GingerHanna.

I'm starting mat leave on 20/10 Bubba. I think there were a few of us scheduled to finish on the same day. I'll be 36 weeks. Heading to London the following day for a catch up with family and friends. It feels like I'm looking forward to a holiday!

Zampa · 11/09/2017 21:35

Lydia I think most women get separation of their abdominal muscles - one acquaintance had a 3cm gap. Don't worry though, they knit back together. Just don't rush into doing sit ups post partum as they can make it worse! Gentle stuff like hell slides and pelvic tilts make a huge difference.

AccrualIntentions · 11/09/2017 21:49

My last day at work is 27/10, I'll be 36 weeks and will be induced at 38...it all feels too soon Shock

lydiangel83 · 12/09/2017 03:47

@Bubbasmama2017 I get very breathless too.

I'm finishing work on 1/10 with due date 1/11. Just want to rest and forget about work pre baby and am lucky that my holiday leave / mat leave situation works out for that.

@Zampa don't worry no danger of sit ups here at any stage of pregnancy or not! What is a hell slide tho?! Do you mean pelvic tilts post baby?

Getting nauseous again and think due to tiredness but also can't sleep Hmm

Zampa · 12/09/2017 06:50

Lydia Hell side should have read heel side. Predictive text fail!

Postnatal crunches will just push your tummy muscles out and won't help abdominal separation. Stick to stuff that works your transverse muscles.

After DD was born I did a group class with these guys which included "The Mummy Tummy Method". Very illuminating!

Zampa · 12/09/2017 08:16

I actually asked for a seat on the tram this morning ... Feel a bit of a fraud but it's so busy ...

lydiangel83 · 12/09/2017 08:26

@Zampa how is that a fraud?! My train was rammed no seats even in first but for first time ever bloke in first offered me a seat. With stinking cold and feeling awful I wasn't going to decline!

Have put on 3kg in 2 wks, pretty sure it's an Italian food baby rather than actual baby having a growth spurt lol! Have put on 18kg overall at 33 weeks

lydiangel83 · 12/09/2017 08:26

Meant to add no wonder my back hurts!

Zampa · 12/09/2017 08:31

I think it's because I'm not ill or elderly or particularly struggling at the moment. My lower back is sore and I'm a bit stiff but I'm sure plenty of others on this tram feel a bit creaky this am!

redfragglebiker · 12/09/2017 09:02

@zampa - That's not being a fraud at all! You're allowed to take the weight of once in a while even if you're not struggling as such. Yay for being due date twins too (I have a feeling our lil bean will be early by a day... The 22nd seems to be a recurring number for me. I don't believe in fate or superstition as such but it just seems to be cropping up)

Side note - Is anyone going to the Baby & Toddler Show in Manchester at the end of the month. I got free tickets via Emmas Diary so we're taking a bit of a womble round to see if they have any stonking deals on stuff.

theotherendofthesockportal · 12/09/2017 09:35

Thank you to everyone who sent me birthday wishes, one birthday treat is to see the midwife, and as my husband has the day off he can come with me and listen for the heartbeat. Strange to say that makes me happier than any present!

I'm struggling with breathlessness too. Walked up a huge hill yesterday and thought my lungs were about to explode. I think my husband was considering finding a wheel barrow to push me a long in!

My bump has also rapidly grown I'm struggling to fit behind the steering wheel. I can't move the seat any further back as I have such short legs. I know now that the decision to go on maternity leave at the end of September was the best one for me as the commute to work via public transport involves 3 buses!

redfragglebiker · 12/09/2017 12:07

aww sockportal I'm glad you get to do something special! Know what you mean about both the wheelbarrow and the car thing. I'm currently taking driving lessons with my test booked for next month (I know, I know) so hoping I can still fit behind the wheel by then Shock To top it all off we're due to complete on our house move the week before my mat leave starts (so about 3.5 weeks before she's due) Talk about piling it all on at once. Grin

Bubbasmama2017 · 12/09/2017 12:51

I've got maternity leave booked for 38 weeks so got another 7 weeks to go starting to think I should have booked to go earlier but people were telling me not to because I have a desk job and baby might not come for 2 weeks after due date. Feel crap today and wishing I could just go now!
Happy birthday sockportal

theotherendofthesockportal · 12/09/2017 13:08

I went toy community midwife appointment and as expected my bump is measuring big. I am having a growth scan on Thursday afternoon, the day I am due back at work after annual leave - lucky for me I have a very understanding boss.

The midwife also had a feel of my tummy and said baby's head is down, which surprised me as I thought I would have noticed when she turned round!

redfragglebiker · 12/09/2017 13:30

@Bubbasmama2017 - I'm off from week 36 and now worrying it's too early!

Topsyloulou · 12/09/2017 13:59

@Bubbasmama2017 I'm leaving work at 37+5 so I've got 6 weeks & 3 days to go, not that I'm counting! If you'd asked me last week I would have said no problem but this week is a different story, I'm really tired, got the start of a cold & baby is having some sort of rave in there leaving me really uncomfortable. I've got at least 1 day off every week now until I go & then also working from home another day at week so not too long left in the office. I'm likely to have 7-10 days off work until baby arrives if I do have an elcs. I ended up having 5 weeks before DS & that was far too long for me.

PrincessaCarrisi · 12/09/2017 14:08

Happy Birthday sockportal! Hope you are enjoying your day

GingerHanna · 12/09/2017 14:22

redfraggle I finish at week 36 also, there are quite a few of us here doing so. Mine is a legality also as you cannot work past 36 weeks in the Netherlands... only get 12 weeks post birth leave which is annoying (unless they are early in which case your 12 weeks starts when your 4 week 'confinement' leave finishes).

OP posts:
butterybollocks · 12/09/2017 16:06

I'm finishing on 6th Oct at 34 weeks. It's quite early but I really feel like I need time to potter at home and feather my nest. And a week of that is half term so I'll not get much chance to laze about that week!

Had a midwife appt this morning and miraculously they didn't find anything new wrong with me. Measuring bang on for dates and baby gave the midwife a kicking when she tried to work out which way up he is (she wasn't sure).

redfragglebiker · 12/09/2017 16:55

oh wow @GingerHanna - I had no idea. 12 weeks certainly isn't very long. I feel rather privileged to be able to take nearly a full year off now. To be honest I was going to be leaving at 37 weeks but we're moving house too so I'll actually be off from week 36 but the first week will be annual leave.
Hoping if it gets too much of a stretch I can do a day a week from home. My boss is a pretty understanding guy so fingers crossed!

stuckinny · 12/09/2017 17:04

Happy birthday @theotherendofthesockportal. I hope you have an amazing day.

I'm due 10 Nov but will work until 17 Nov if he hasn't come by then. We only get 6 weeks leave here so I need to wait as long as possible.

Looks like we'll be moving house at the end of October. Confused The sellers wanted to close by Oct 15 but I don't think the bank will have done the appraisal etc by then. As long as we're in by Nov 21 when I parents arrive I'll be happy. We already joke that the baby will come on moving day and will be delivered on the side of the road.

Had a great weekend although I'm exhausted now. My mum and sister came over as my inlaws had planned a baby shower for me. It was more of a family catch up than a shower thankfully.
