Most of the stuff we have is pretty much just white and grey anyway even though we're having a boy. For some reason I can't picture putting him in lots of bright stuff although I know all the whites are going to end up super stained .
DP works in a coffee shop in a v 'yummy mummy' part of south London and he's come home twice now with huge bags of baby clothes from some of his adoring mum customers. The first time was after we'd just ordered a bunch of stuff from H&M as well (another good place for baby clothes btw!). Needless to say we don't need to buy any baby clothes now for about 2 years haha.

Interesting that the hospital bag list says 10 baby grows @ButterflyGem, I was also planning on bringing 2/3.. dunno whether to pack more to be on the safe side now

One tip I read recently for the hospital bag is to have two, one for a short stay (e.g. one night) that you take with you and another you leave at home for DP to bring the next day if you end up staying longer.

Not that I have prepared any kind of bag. I went into Mothercare today and looked at the lansinoh and breast pads and maternity towels and bed mats, got scared and left Smile

Bobbiepin · 14/08/2017 22:50

@pingus when you aren't looking at cute stuff it gets a little overwhelming quite quickly doesn't it!

Tbh I'm starting to get a bit anxious about it all. Baby wasn't moving today so ended up in the assessment unit. All fine and she's back to her usual wriggly self but I was scared and with DH a 2 hour commute away I felt very alone.

mummabubs · 15/08/2017 06:57

Bless you Bobbiepin that must have felt scary, glad all is ok now.

Thanks for all the baby clothes recommendations- I hadn't even thought of H&M for some reason! Will check them out as they're probably a bit cheaper too and I've also heard they grow out of Newborn size so quickly. I've got 2 sleepsuits so far so maybe I'll just get a couple more and wash them a lot in the first two weeks! 😂 Re: Maternity pads I got mine from Boots a few days ago- they're well reviewed for comfort and currently on 3 for 2 along with breast pads so I took the plunge and stocked up. (And then went to Primark and bought some big ass comfy pants to go with them!) Does make it seem a tad real!

GimbleInTheWabe · 15/08/2017 07:48

Glad everything was okay @Bobbiepin. You did the right thing going in though. I'd have done the same especially if I didn't have DP there to give reassurance.

Anyone else self-employed and going down the maternity allowance route? I forgot to get the mat b1 form from the midwife so I have to wait until next week now Hmm

Bobbiepin · 15/08/2017 08:37

Thanks girls, she kept me up for ages wriggling around so definitely all ok.

I've got some maternity pads from asda but I'll stock up on the boots ones if they are on offer. The loose trousers also are a great idea, I got a couple of big nighties from there for the hospital so if they get mucky I don't mind chucking them, should get some big knickers next time too!

Cath1212 · 15/08/2017 10:57

I can believe how time is flying as well - 32 weeks on Thursday!
Had my 31 week appointment yesterday and they think the baby is now head down which is good - they have been either in breech of transverse the rest of the time.
Still struggling with hip pain and the lack of sleep - debating whether to start my maternity leave a week earlier but will see how I go!
need to get thinking about my hospital bag as well - havnt got a nightie yet - anyone come across any good ones?
I found M&S was quite good for unisex clothing - lots of animal prints!

Cath1212 · 15/08/2017 10:57

also took advantage of the 3 for 2 maternity pads offer in boots!

mummabubs · 15/08/2017 14:07

Haha good old Boots 😊 I've bought one maternity nightie from Asos which I've been living in since about 16 weeks! It's nursing compatible too so buttons down the front for easy access if you're planning on breastfeeding? I thought I might see if anywhere has a couple more in the sales before bubba comes too.

wapsmahoney · 15/08/2017 19:39

Is anyone suffering from severe rib pain due to a breech baby? Please don't tell me I'm alone! I feel like my entire upper rib cage is bruised and battered and today was so bad it made me cry at work!
Still have 4 weeks of work and was even contemplating getting signed off ... but work will activate my mat leave at 36 weeks if that happens which I don't want to happen!
Currently lying with an ice pack strapped to my chest with my hips higher than my shoulders!

mrsbumblebees · 15/08/2017 21:34

Sorry to hear you are suffering wapsmahoney - that sounds really miserable, hope you manage to find some relief!

I'm feeling super excited as finally ordered my pram this evening! Not a bad deal either as got 10% off at the Mothercare expectant parent event. Next on the list of things to sort out - car seat!!!

pollybythesea · 15/08/2017 22:45

Hey gimbleinthewabe I'm also self employed, doing MA- got it approved last week, they say it takes 24 days to make a decision from when they receive your form & mat1b, but took more like only 15 for me. Then it's a bit complicated, seems like the day you finish work or have your baby, you send another form off (included in their response letter). Bit of a faff but seems to be working ok so far!

PingusMistress · 15/08/2017 23:25

That sounds miserable @wapsmahoney , hope your little one turns and gives you a break soon. Mine turned from head down to head up last night, little monkey, hoping he doesn't stay that way.

@Bobbiepin you are so right, shopping for cute clothes is much more fun than shopping for things to soak up leaking bodily fluids! I might take advantage of that boots offer though.

I had a very baby day today with my first antenatal class and my first pregnancy yoga class. It's weird cos I hadn't met anyone in real life at a similar stage as me previously, then today I saw about twenty! I guess we don't get out much! Smile

KitKatSplat · 16/08/2017 13:34

Went to a baby care class yesterday. I feel SO much better and confident now, even though we still have barely any stuff! 2.5 hours. I reckon it's saved me at least ten panicked phone calls to the hospital about post-birth baby worries. Apparently babies have very irregular breathing for the first year - who knew!?

TippetyTapWriter · 16/08/2017 16:26

Ah no you've reminded me of the newborn breathing stage kitkat! I was so paranoid the last time (didn't help that ds was born with breathing problems). Don't think I slept at all the first few nights we were home. I'd like to think I'll be older and wiser this time round but I doubt it. And hopefully they warned you how noisy they are! Grunting and snoring!

Sorry you're in pain wapsmahoney. Ds was breech and it was uncomfortable due to heartburn and being completely unable to bend over (giant head lodged in my ribcage!) but I don't remember much pain. Maybe I was lucky. Have you spoken to your midwife about it?

What sort of movements are people feeling? Mine seem to have mellowed a bit if that makes sense. Getting rolling sensation and pushing and the odd wriggle but not the big kicks and quick jerky movements I was feeling a few days ago? Still feeling a fair amount of movement so not worried as such ... (I tell myself).

Cath1212 · 16/08/2017 16:52

My classes start soon, quite looking forward to them now - will make it all seem very real!

We made the trip to Ikea at the weekend and got a cot and changing unit and some storage bits and bobs, the hubby has started painting the nursery today Grin so starting to gradually feel a bit more organised

Has anyone got a baby monitor yet? I'm not sure which one to go for!

wapsmahoney · 16/08/2017 16:54

Thanks TippetyTapWriter I think its one of those things that once you become aware of being so uncomfortable that's all you can think about!
I spoke to my midwife today who was lovely about it all. She thinks that bubs is currently leaning on some nerves in my chest which is causing most of the pain. Im going for some acupuncture tomorrow to see if that will help with either the pain or to help her move!
Either way Im up for trying anything right now!

I know what you mean about the change in movements. Ive worried on and off a bit about it too ... Im still getting lots of movement, its more that it feels different. As you said more pushing and weird sensations instead of jerky kicks. I mentioned it to my midwife who said that as long as you are still feeling movement at the same regular pattern then not to worry ... but obviously if you are worried at all call them!
That's what they are there for!

Cath1212 · 16/08/2017 16:54

In terms of movements mine have changed to more of a squirming, rolling type of movement

although he seemed to have a disco whilst I was on the train last night - obviously enjoying the commute more than me!!

Cineraria · 16/08/2017 17:02

Yes, my movements have changed now too. It feels like someone trying to get comfortable in too small a space, shifting and stretching rather than dancing and jumping around now. He also shifts over to DH's side of the sofa when he talks so my bump is quite lopsided in the evenings! My son did that too.

TippetyTapWriter · 16/08/2017 19:21

That's sweet cineraria! This one seems to hang out mostly on my right hand side.

Thanks for comments on movements. Reassuring to hear others are experiencing the same.

Good luck with the acupuncture wapsmahoney. Does sound painful if they're squashing a nerve! Hopefully they'll move soon for you. Have you looked at spinning babies website? I tried a few of the positions but only half heartedly because I'm a huge cynic. In hindsight I probably should have tried harder to persuade ds to move though I'm not sure if he could have. I felt him try at one point and it was so uncomfortable it made me feel faint! One of the midwives I saw this time round said he might have been breech because his head was too big to fit in my pelvis so maybe I got lucky not having to push him out the traditional way! I'm keen to try and get a third trimester scan for this baby to double check size and position (fundal chart predicts 9lb at term!). Seeing my consultant on Monday so will ask them then. Not sure whether to go for a private scan if they say no.

KitKatSplat · 16/08/2017 20:55

Movement wise I find my baby is always pretty active about 20 minutes after I get up, then another flurry around 2 - 3pm, then a massive flurry when I'm in bed. I think it's because I'm quite active during the day, which sends them to sleep.

In other news I am FUMING because my SPD has decided to move from the left of my spine to my right! I had gotten used to my left leg being my arch nemesis, but now the right leg has betrayed me! Oh well. Physiotherapy appointment on Friday.

GimbleInTheWabe · 17/08/2017 10:16

Baby seems to roll over and do big sweeping movements pretty much anytime I sit down really. I did notice last week (when I was 32w) he moved a bit less but I did also have a cold so I wasn't sure if they were linked. He's moving so much and ditto to feeling like he's got no space in there! Getting lots more jabs in my hips and bladder too.

Let us know how the acupuncture goes @wapsmahoney, I hope it works!

OP posts:
mummabubs · 18/08/2017 20:30

I've got the changed movements too, not really kicks anymore, more squirming/wriggling movements. They feel very odd depending on where they are... and have made me think that I can't physically imagine being pregnant for another 7 weeks- how the heck can I get bigger and where will Bubbabean possibly grow?! 🙈🙈

TheLionQueen1 · 18/08/2017 20:59

Mumma that's exactly what I say to my partner, the movements seem so big already and he's obviously so uncomfortable that where is he going to go for the next 7 weeks!!

ButterflyGem · 18/08/2017 20:59

Hi
I can feel more wriggly movements too this week maybe a bit like a worm rather than kicks as such. I was at an antenatal class about cesarean, getting induced & natural labour last night. It's scary how close it all is! Exciting though only got one more week at work too. Does anyone else still get a not of discharge? I think I've had it most of the way through just either clear or a little creamy. No smell but just get a bit self conscious about it. xx
