@adwoajess86 I rang my consultant who didn't seem concerned at all. Have been monitoring it and it seems to have gone back up so I have no idea what's going on but as long as my consultant doesn't panic, I don't panic :)

But more importantly CONGRATULATIONS on the birth of your darling baby boy 💙

Not long to go @Mummyto2monkeys2 how exciting!

As for me I've been reading through the first Short Cervix Club thread from the start which is helping me get a better understanding of our "condition".

It's my son's birthday/anniversary of his death this week so I'm feeling extra emotional. We'll be going down to visit his grave and celebrate him and wish him well.

Currently 18 weeks pregnant and I'm holding my breath till I get to 28 weeks at least. My poor DH is desperate for sex and our consultant says it ok to have sex with a condom but I'm just too scared DH will damage or dislodge the stitch or something!!

Hope everyone else doing well x

April1984 · 01/08/2017 09:42

Hi Again, hope you get through this week ok. The first anniversary is particularly tough.

Regarding sex, has your doc said anything? We made the decision both times not to have sex from the day we found out we were pregnant (tho prob would have been fine pre stitch).

I personally would avoid it. It is one of the only proven ways to induce labour too. It's not easy but we both felt we just didn't want to risk anything. X

adwoajess86 · 01/08/2017 12:23

Thanks for the congrats all! Not long for you ladies as wellSmile

@April1984 in regards to sex the doctors and consultant both said not to while the stitch is in. We could have after stitch was removed but we didn't. Although when I was in Week 39 we did to try to induce labour.

AgainPlease · 01/08/2017 17:50

@April1984 our consultant said occasional sex was ok but that he should wear a condom, but I'm too petrified for intercourse and I made DH feel the stitch with his fingers and I think I've put him off sex for this whole pregnancy if not for life. But I can tell he's frustrated. We're going to have to get creative Blush

Mummyto2monkeys2 · 01/08/2017 23:24

Adwoajess congrats on the birth of your baby!! Smile 1 week today untill my c section, last scan on thursday this week to see how shes grown in the last month as she was measuring small last time so fingers crossed for that one.
Againplease we have also not had sex, consultant never advised against it but ive been to paranoid to even try, very frustrating but we have got there in the end haha xx

FraggleRock77 · 02/08/2017 06:52

Just a quick update from me. Sorry to trump you Mistletoe and i hope you're ok? Our baby arrived via section in the early hours due to my water breaking. As predicted i started to labour very quickly. DS is currently in NICU but should only be in a few days. He's doing really well. So pleased it's over. And thank you for all the support offered over the course of this journey x

Huge congrats Fraggle! Glad bubs is here safe and sound. Hope their NICU stay is short and sweet.

Looks like a few of us have things happening next week, c sections or stitch removals! Exciting times. Never expected to make August.

Re stitch removal it depends on the stitch. I was told def spinal but my doc said if I wanted to he'd 'have a go' at removal in the labour ward. Ultimately it's not an issue as I have to have a c section as bubs is still breech. You could try with gas and air and see how goes?! X

Hi ladies!

Fragglerock massive congrats!!!!

My little girl is coming via section on the 8th! As shes coming before 39 weeks i have to have the steriod injections this weekend (didn't think id get them past 37 weeks) so excited!! But also very nervous about section, dont know why as ive already had 2, maybe just because this pregnancy has been a rollercoaster, cant wait till she her safe in my arms x

JoJon1976 · 05/08/2017 17:26

Hi ladies just wanted to introduce myself X I had my stitch put in on Monday all went well. This is my third pregnancy and second stitch and am currently 16 weeks. My first son was born at 24 weeks. I was born at 27 weeks (41 years ago) and siblings were all stitched in and premature labour but was stopped And held. Just wondered if anyone else out there has an hereditary link with shortening cervix as there are no current studies on it? Xx

AgainPlease · 05/08/2017 18:16

Hi JoJohn and welcome. I've never heard of hereditary cervical shortening problems but maybe someone will come along with some more useful info than me..

Can I ask if your son survived after having been born so early? Sorry if I'm being insensitive or come across as nosey. My son was born at 20 weeks and I always wonder if I managed to hold on 4 more weeks if the outcome would have been different.

I'm 19 weeks on Monday and starting to get scared that history is going to repeat itself :( I can only hope the stitch, the progesterone, and the fragmin shots will make the difference this time.

JoJon1976 · 05/08/2017 23:27

Hi againplease, yes he did survive we are very lucky and sorry for your loss X he has had a rocky path bless him with a number of issues and obstical to get through but he is now 11 years old and amazing! Not intrusive or nosey at all I love talking about him he is my miracle and happy to talk through anything with u if you did have any questions X my stitch held with my second son and he was late at 42 weeks (one extreme to the other lol) and like I said my siblings were stitched in, my mum went into labour once a month from 6 months and the stopped it every time with the stitch holding until 8 and 9 months so I believe the stitches can help in lots of ways. Really good luck with your little bubba xx

AgainPlease · 07/08/2017 17:31

I'm so glad to hear your boy is 11 and growing JoJon! Amazing they could save him at such an early gestation so many years ago.

A question for you lovely ladies: I'm now 19 weeks and getting really bad and painful stabby pain in my vagina. I called the hospital in a panic and they said if no bleeding or cramping then I should be fine. But I'm obviously freaking out. Anyone else have had this at this gestation?! When I Google it, it just says it's a sign the cervix is dilating and baby's head it engaged!!!

JoJon1976 · 07/08/2017 17:54

Hi againplease hope your well. I'm not going to be much help I'm afraid as I have had this sharp stab pain feels like I knife going upwards with all of my pregnancies and my last one stayed in until 42 weeks lol only thing I can say is when my baby came at 24 weeks I had obvious tight contractions and a lot of bleeding X I would say it is a normal thing for me but obviously we have all been trough a tough time in the past so I would still question things and be led by your midwife/ obgyn and go with your instincts xx good luck hunny xx

April1984 · 08/08/2017 14:00

Mummy I think the big day is today? Looking forward to hearing that bubs is here safely x

April1984 · 08/08/2017 14:02

Welcome Jo. Good luck with your pregnancy.

Again are you still getting the stabbing pains? I had them whenever baby danced in my cervix! But I'd always get checked out. Maybe demand an ultrasound/go for one privately. Can never be too careful in our position. X

OP posts:
AgainPlease · 08/08/2017 18:15

Thanks April. I continued to have the stabby pains again this morning and when I put my morning progesterone pessary in I could feel my cervix REALLY low. That was it, I was off to hospital! Midwives were really nice and my bereavement midwife was there also. I had a scan and our baby girl is fine, she was head up so kicking/dancing on my bladder and cervix. An internal examination didn't give any rise for cause for concern. Obstetrician said everything looks as it should be and I've been booked in for another reassurance scan for next week so I'm really happy with that.

I'm around the same gestation as I was with my son when it all started going wrong so I'm hyper-sensitive and extra alert!

April1984 · 08/08/2017 20:30

Sure Again. The timing you had issues previously is always the worst bit. I was the same around 25 weeks when I had my first son and who we lost at two weeks old. Getting past that time in both my subsequent two pregnancies felt good and bad. Good as it gave me some confidence in the stitch and things being different but bad thinking if I had known I had any cervix issues such a simple stitch could have saved my son. X
