Good luck Binza! I'm sure everything will be fine if you go into labour now, especially as the steroids are in x

Haskell17 · 20/07/2017 14:15

Hi Binza

I hope your keeping well and the steroids are helping,

Do you have a stitch in? If so what stitch do you have fitted?

Well done for getting this far! X

Hi all. Hope all ok Binza. I had a scare last week too, at 34+4, the day before I had my second son! Had mild contractions but luckily they were stopped with a fluid drip. Had steroids too just in case. All calm since tho her breech position is putting a lot of pressure on my belly button area which causes endless BH.

Re going into labour with stitch, this happened with me last time. My signs were period type pains that came in cycles. With stitch in I'd always get to the hospital asap. I was in labour a while still with stitch and stitch held! When it was taken out during emergency c section (breech too!) I went straight to 5/6cm so it held well! I think I must have an irritable uterus which causes contractions last time and the mild ones this week.

Good luck to all. Currently expecting this baby in less than 3 weeks if she stays breech! X

Hi Binza, how have you been keeping? Has anything progressed?

I had a scan at 22 weeks and am 23.9mm, which isnt terrible, but not as long as I would have liked. We've gone through our medical insurance to see a consultant next week and to hopefully schedule another scan. I know I'm being over cautious, but it's hard not to worry sometimes!

niceandspicey · 23/07/2017 20:38

Hi Ladies

Just saying hello as another user on a different thread suggested this thread might be quite useful for me.

DD was born at 31 weeks, DS at 24 weeks- he died 33 days later.

I have been diagnosed with IC and advised that on another pregnancy I'd have cervical length scans from 14 weeks (only had my first with DS the week before he was born- too late).

No idea at this point whether we'd like to try for another child but I think reading some of the experiences on here might help me. So I'll just hang around if that's ok? Smile

niceandspicey · 23/07/2017 20:50

Ah Fraggle - just re-read and seen you here. Thanks for the tip.

FraggleRock77 · 23/07/2017 22:02

Welcome Nice/Spice. Glad you found the thread. Traffic can be a little quiet on here at times but everyone is extremely helpful. There's an old thread not to far down which is full now. I found it extremely useful to read the whole thing. Gave me a lot of info x

April1984 · 24/07/2017 06:48

Hi Nice&Spicy. Sorry for your loss. Agree with Fraggle that it is worth reading through the original thread. It's long but lots of stories on it and advice. If you do want another my main advice would be to look into options even before you get pregnant/as soon as you do. Everyone is different and often you have to take your care into your own hands, potentially pay for additional
Scans etc privately. 14 weeks is late to be checking you for the first time. I had both my stitches after my loss (my 25 weeker died after 2 weeks) at 12 weeks and I was considered borderline due to how late I had my son.

Unfortunately depending on your NHS trust you will have to be your own advocate. Good luck x

Thanks April
I am sorry for your loss Flowers
That's really interesting- and I'll be sure to read the original thread fully. Just after as much information as possible at the moment. It's actually made my head spin at the possibility. I thought it was something I could physically and emotionally never go through it again... but now am thinking I maybe can, in time.

FraggleRock77 · 24/07/2017 07:46

Wish me luck ladies! Stitch out tomorrow's and I'm incredibly scared about the possible pain!x

April1984 · 24/07/2017 10:47

Good luck Nice/Spicy

Great news Fraggle, how many weeks is that. Try not to worry too much, it'll all be fine and post removal you are a normal pregnant lady!!

FraggleRock77 · 24/07/2017 10:54

April1984 · 24/07/2017 15:19

Fab! I'm 35.5, next appt at 36 weeks to see if she's still breech. Will be either stitch out or c section date. Let us know how it goes! X

FraggleRock77 · 25/07/2017 15:30

Hello. Just an update from me. The stitch was removed at 09:30am and was pretty painful and unpleasant. Luckily the gas and air really helped and it was quick. I forgot how effective gas and air is!! Unfortunately i didn't go into spontaneous labour and I've been given a choice of a c section either at 37 or 39 weeks. For medical reasons to the baby around breathing issues my consultant thinks 39 is best but appreciates I've been held prisoner for 13 weeks! I'm really torn. So desperate for it to be over but don't want to harm the baby. I'm not sure i can tolerate another four weeks of pain and rest! What to do?!? Of course i may labour before then too. And equally i have a very odd sense of normal due to DS being born at 29 weeks who has no breathing issues now!
Hope everyone else is ok? Good luck with your appointment April x

April1984 · 25/07/2017 17:45

Great it's out Fraggle tho not great re the pain! Confused

Is your c section for a partic reason? I'm due for one too due to baby being breech again. My doc here won't do it after 38 weeks so I'm doing it then. My stitch has to be taken out by spinal and he doesn't want me to have that plus a c section within weeks of each other and so will take the stitch out at the c section. It's tricky re timing! Is meeting in the middle at 38 an option?! I would prefer 39 personally. Just because got this far and would be devastated if baby needed help. I know they struggle more with lungs due to c section, was your LO a c section?

Have they said anything we steroids? The RCOG recc them if c section is pre 39 weeks. Sadly I had to have them a week ago as started contractions and their effect only lasts a week and you should only have them once in pregnancy unless very far apart so I can't get them again. They are great for baby's lungs tho. Even my 25 weeker who we loss had brilliant lungs and I'm sure it was due to the steroids. X

FraggleRock77 · 25/07/2017 19:44

I've already had my steroids at 30 weeks due to my cervix shortening at the time. Our DS was a natural delivery and had minimal breathing issues. For me it's just the emotional impact, i feel at breaking point and have for a while. It's also the need to put on my family for a further four weeks and pay our sitter more money plus the impact on our DS from seeing me struggle and cry etc! Just feel like I'm going to end up resenting this baby, being totally physically wiped out once it arrives and then have to struggle again!x

Haskell17 · 28/07/2017 11:26

Morning all,

I hope you are all doing well.

Fraggle, have you decided on either 37 or 39 weeks for your C Section?

I had my 33 week growth scan today and was given my appointment for stitch removal, this will be done at 36 weeks, via spinal,

Has anyone else got experiences to share of Shirodkar stitch removal via spinal? Did you stay in over night?

X

adwoajess86 · 28/07/2017 14:12

Hi ladies, congrats to all for getting this far💐 .... @Haskell17 I had the spinal when the stitch was removed @36 weeks , it wasn't that bad I didn't feel any pain , procedure took 10 min staff played music and spoke to me the entire time. I was admitted at 1:30 and when it was all done I stayed in the recovery room until the spinal wore off and was able to feel my waist and legs and pee twice on my own as I had a catheter put in while the procedure was carried out. I left the hospital around 6pm. I was told I was 2cm dilated when the stitch was removed and that I was likely to go into labour within a week but nothing has happened since only feeling mild cramps like period pain . tomorrow is my due date still waiting for him😅 ... hope my experience was helpful

Haskell17 · 28/07/2017 15:20

Hi :-)

@adwoajess86 Thank you so much for getting back to me and well done for making it all the way to due date!!

Hopefully I get as close to due date as possible, how soon did you get to 2cm?

adwoajess86 · 28/07/2017 15:37

@Haskell17 thanks and glad my experience was helpful.

As soon as the stitch was out I was already 2cm dilated, was hoping he came on that date as I was fed up of being on bed rest but I'm glad i made it to full term.

AgainPlease · 28/07/2017 17:06

Hi Ladies,

Had a scan yesterday at 17+3 and everything with our little girl is fine - she's developing perfectly. Cervix was closed and measured 20mm which is obviously really bloody short. Sonographer didn't do an internal measurement, just external so there's margin for error too.

Problem I noticed last night and this morning is I can feel a long bit of my stitch when I insert my progesterone. I can literally feel the stitch about 2-3cm in to my vagina!!!!! What does this mean?!

I've emailed my consultant but I'm panicking! Anyone else had this with their stitch?

adwoajess86 · 28/07/2017 17:56

@AgainPlease hi April, I will defn get it checked. I also had a scare a while ago, after wiping myself I saw a tread and thought it was the stitch , I called MAU and was told to come in to get it checked and turned out it was not the actual stitch around the cervix but was the extra stitch that is tied underneath (similar to the tampax tread that hangs) hope you understood what I meant

FraggleRock77 · 28/07/2017 18:05

Thanks Haskell, I've decided to go for the 37 week date. Still feel guilty but I've had enough! Are you nervous about getting your stitch removed? Well done Adwoajess on getting to your due date. Isn't funny how many people hang on so long after having their stitch removed?!x

adwoajess86 · 28/07/2017 19:35

@FraggleRock77 good luck on your scheduled c-section! I know what you mean that you had enough , I have so far managed as the weather hasn't been that hot in the past days. And yeah is funny how I managed to hang on this long... just hoping that he comes anytime soon , been booked in for a sweep next week as they don't want me to go over the 41 weeks , read it isn't comfortable Confused
